They changed their terms this morning, and there is NO way to disagree. They are holding our TVs and apps hostage if we don't agree: If you're a customer and now want to sue, you're outta luck! All disputes will now be settled via arbitrations, and THEY pick the arbiter. So Roku, what have you done with our info, that I can't opt out of agreeing to these new and horrid terms for MY device that I've had for years? And do you really think this is binding? No, this is illegal in other countries so I doubt it holds up here. Your customers are about to give you a wake up call!
Although Roku player isn't bad and works best for me, the company turned to be absolutely fraudsters! There a lot of fraudulent channels in their player, so you have to be very careful what are subscribing for. If you have an issue with a payment and request a refund, then they'll try everything not to give your money back! Disgusting customer service. If you use the player, then better use only free content and don't pay them for anything, because if you have a problem you'll lose your money!
Have a problem with Roku device, it keeps going back to selection screen after a few minutes of watching a program. Chatted with them online but they want to charge you a fee to help you. Not exactly customer service I expected. Will not buy or recommend to anyone!
My checking account was charged $148.39 for something to do with Disney. I have filed complaints on Roku's chat format but have not gotten through to anyone. This has caused my account to be overdrawn. I'm ready to pull the plug on Roku!
Doesn't recognise my login details. Keep resetting, still can't sign in. Tried complaining. Website freezes, keeps saying sign in! But can't.
Seems like a good deal, but useless when you have a problem. Will have to to cancel my subscription. Anyone else thinking of joining, my advise don't.
Purchased product. 1 yr later, I had to accept new terms of service (that are totally favorable to ROKU and give up several constitutional rights) or product (65" TCL ROKU TV) is a brick and can't be used for anything. All features disabled. Sick of arrogant companies like this. I'm going to let my future purchases reflect my displeasure.
The quality of the TV is not the issue. It's the channel selection of Roku live TV is always repeats the same shows over and over again and the black channel called shades of black is always playing leprechaun in the hood. It's mind-boggling to me because there's so many other movies they could be playing, but they just play that one.
I like to watch the Roku channels, but because I don't know that the channel logos are for certain channels, I am not able to find the channel I am looking for, which by the way was advertised by the channel number on the ad on the Roku channel. When I called and spoke to a technician, that I could barely understand, I was told there was never a channel listing by number. That is a lie, because that's the way that I looked, and the Roku website shows the channel guide by number and logo. This has been very frustrating that no one seems to understand.
Roku definitely is slacking on app updates. My Hulu on my phone is up to date with my news show I watch every morming...however on my roku, it's uploads of Hulu are 1 or 2 days delay, depending on the day. Very dissatisfied. I'll not be getting another Roku.
I purchased 2 devices directly from the Roku site and within 2 weeks of receiving them was having problems with them. One of them stopped working altogether. I got no help from their customer support and ended up choosing to return them and get a refund. Problem is, they require you to pay for shipping to return them. So you are out $15 for every device you return, I might as well have burned my money. Don't buy Roku, choose another company for your streaming device purchases.
I ordered the Roku RC909 "Simple Remote" where the online ad said "The Roku Simple Remote RC909 is a remote control that uses two AAA batteries. It has buttons for TV power and volume, as well as shortcut buttons for popular streaming channels." This remote has NO VOLUME CONTROL, which is incredibly stupid. It took at least 7 calls to get this resolved. Roku promised a free return label but after one week sent an email without the label. More calls and a promise to send me the label within 24 hours. We'll see, I'm still waiting. A ridiculous amount of effort for a simple return; never again will I order from Roku directly; Amazon return is so easy.
This is the biggest rip off there is. You have to enter a credit card just to get the tv to turn on regardless of whether you have cable or not. I was the number one in line for more than an hour before I gave up and hung up after listening to the most revolting music ever devised. Guess what? You cannot access the internet with your f**** Roku TV. Throwing mine into the garbage heap. Save your money.
I have had roku since 2009. It was always good but now its really wonderful. So easy to use. You can get the Roku USB Stick Player for Free if you buy 3 mos of HULU and the more expensive Roku models 2 and 3 for half price.at HULU... good deal.
Also it works on many cable company's universal remotes but your cable company never knows this. Look it up on your providers code list... Usually it falls under AUX.
Never again would I buy or recommend buying a Roku TV. As far as picture quality etc it is fine. After 7 months the volume intermittently goes out and crackles. This is not the reason I dislike it so much. It's the incessant Roku commercials that I detest. Every 6 minutes they show the same annoying commercials. This is in addition to the network commercials. I understand advertisements are a part of tv viewing but constant Roku ads are just not necessary. There isn't a station they don't interfere with, including music streaming.
I specifically purchased a Roku TV to watch programs I love. They allowed me to ad the App. Then later disconnected it, rearranged my preferred channels, and today I cannot access my "favorites" but must scroll through hundreds of titles to find what I like each time I change to a different selection. They are controlling and making it difficult to watch anything. I no longer even like hearing the word "Roku". I selected this TV and purchased on Amazon. Bad decision. My rating is 1. Would give minus 1 if possible. They invade people's privacy.
Watch my first Roku original. The show was good and keep me interested but commercial break ever 9 minutes of content made it impossible to stay focused. If Roku is that money sucking just give us a better review of the show and charge a reasonable fee. Will never watch another
We've been using their streaming stick and seems to be ok what I don't like about this is it it keeps charging us for Hulu subscription even though we didn't subscribe to it and when try to watch on Hulu it tells us that we are not subscribe. The worst part is if you call their customer service number they just refer you to email them. So you go back and forth emailing their representatives who I think are dumb and doesn't really help you much.
Roku worked quite well until the guaranty was up after one year. Currently, I need to reset the unit at least 4 times a week because it fails to connect with my wireless network. As for customer service, we are back to India that refuses to help you unless you purchase a contract with them for at least one year. This is about $90 which exceeds the cost of the unit. No, I would not recommend Roku.
After 2 years it started overheating to the point that the support pages stated it's a hazard. Nothing worked when troubleshooting it and support says but another one. I HATE being scammed and Roku is a scam. Don't waste you $$.
Roku has been around for quite some time in the AV world and anyone who subscribes to mags like HD vision, sound and vision, etc has heard of them before. The rest of the world will have no idea what Roku is. Now they are looking to go mainstream with a $60 set top box that hooks up to your TV and converts it into a streaming media player ala apple TV. Probably will have similar services like netflix, hulu and the like but it will also be more friendly about watching video files that apple doesn't support. Cheap at $60 but now that apple TV is only $99, it will still be a tough sell. I think their box is great, but they might be a year late to the show.
Answer: One of the first questions asked is which language you would like to use. Usually set to English as default. I would suggest you do a factory reset if you are stuck or contact customer service.
Answer: If you don't have your Roku set up to automatically update under system settings then that would definitely help. I would try that first and see if it works. You can also go to the channel icon ie: Netflix and instead of entering hit the * and you'll get a pop up with different options, choose update and see if that helps. The icons should not be grayed out... just saw the date on this and went oh welllll...
Roku has a rating of 1.7 stars from 127 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Roku most frequently mention customer service and phone number. Roku ranks 893rd among Music sites.
