Host use it to scam customers because booking.com have no power/willingness to stop them. Fidaul Alam from "Extended Stay in Toronto Home" invented weird stories to keep my security deposit. Even with clear proof of his lies, unprofessional behavior and abusive language against me, the customer service of booking.com was completely useless. It was just a endless loop of explaining what happened to me, they told me everytime "we agree with you you will get a refund, wait a call from a manager, then nothing, calling again weeks later, repeat. I call 7-8 times.
That was my last time. If you care about your money and your time, book your stay through another platform.
More and more scammers like Fidaul Alam will use this platform since they have no willingness to stop them.
This really upset me, not only not getting my refund, but also the fact of calling more than 4 times but giving big different solutions. As a customer I would expect to receive a fair and firm answer from a reputed company like booking.com.
Total scam business. I used Booking.com to book a room at the Red Carpet Inn in Fort Lauderdale for a week only to have my reservation refused when i arrived because my drivers license had expired a month prior which i did not realize. Next day i was checking my bank info and saw where i was charged for the entire reservation by booking.com which totally contradicted what is stated in their payment policy. I tried to email them many times with no replies or ones that made no sense and where disjointed from my requests. I concluded that the replies I did get back were from mere robots, always with last name beginning with the letter c ( Carla C., Mona C., Gerry C., etc.) This company is a total scam! DO NOT USE THEM! There is a reason they operate out of the Netherlands. Think about it. STAY AWAY!
I booked a hotel based on the terms that were displayed on the page. 30 percent down and final payment 7 days before arrival date. Well they billed the entire amount
Bookings could not help. Hotel would not return my calls. I had to engage my bank for resolution.
With this being said. I will never ever book anything through booking.com.
Booking.com is a scam company with thousands of claims of fraud by past customers. Just look at any review site or their social media for proof.
I would avoid at all costs!
By all means use their App to locate places to stay, then cut them out and go direct to the accommodation site to book. You will often save money, you won't pay more.
They take 15% for nothing. They will not cover you, but simply claim 3rd party status and wash their hands of any problem.
Thousands of people are owed money, families with children left with no where to stay. There's also tonnes of complaints from hotels etc. that they are owed money, so booking via Booking.com won't exactly guarantee you a warm welcome.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
After a second bad experience, I'll definitely warn anyone considering this site to avoid them. I'm in the UK and a 2 night hotel stay was averaged to £354. The hotel has charged me £474 (euros to pound conversion) and justified it by saying approximate prices. I should have known better after a previous experience where the same had happened and booking.com supported the hotel charge against my complaint. Don't be fooled by the cheap prices.
Sometimes, your credit card will have been charged already and you're oblivious to the charges so there's nothing you can do. In future, I will probably try to contact the hotel first to see availability and prices like someone suggested on another site.
I booked a rent a car through Bookings.com at Fox Rental in the Seattle area. I specifically unchecked all the fees associated with the rental, which of course were checked prior to checking out, and they charged me despite this, costing me an additional $82. This made the daily rate even more expensive than Hotwire! Stay away from these guys, they are scam artists!
Paid for booking, and was cancelled immediately, and booking.com refused to reimburse the charge, I have called about 10 times, each time they tell me something different and the customer service doesn't seem to understand what's going on, still have not been refunded. Never book through this company.
The site advertises free cancellation on many properties but beware of places which charge your credit card a deposit (usually immediately) - not much incentive for them to play ball when you cancel. I had a property drag its feet, claim it could not refund money to a credit card, lie about when a wire transfer was sent etc and booking.com has done little to help. You will be the one doing all the work!
The place is a dump, no getting around that. Appears to be a welfare hotel also. With all kinds of drug addict derelicts all over the place with god knows how many squeezed into every room. Its a totally unsafe place to stay. Drug dealing going on and people begging for money and food. Everything is old and barely works. No dishes or pots for the kitchen, had to buy my own. A/c didn't work and when I turned on the heat the fire alarm went off. Stayed 6 days and it was hell. Choice hotels has to know this is a dump but could care less.
I wrote another review below about how horrible booking.com has been. For some reason my hotel doesn't realize I was charged which makes me think they will receive no money at all. When I called American Express to dispute the charge I was told we would all get vouchers for up to a year from now to use anywhere in the world which also means that my hotel will not receive any money if I book a completely different trip which I plan to do. I also find it interesting that I booked non refundable round trip ticket on Lufthansa and they had no problem refunding my money considering the current situation. Booking.com should be put out of business.
The pictures on their website do not reflect what you actually get at the hotels. We booked an executive VIP room at Rodos Palace after a long delayed flight got our room nothing like what we thought we paid for other guests in lobby complaining about the same issue. Called Booking.com
To complain they said it was the hotels fault and basically the rude barley English speaking staff washed their hands if the situation, I paid £300 to upgrade the room to one we thought we were getting so save your money and go elsewhere or book direct
This company is a an absolute disgrace! If you book a privately listed property, such as a holiday villa, you have no rights and no recourse if the listing is not as described. Booking.com apparently let's anyone list anything for free (?!) and then washes their hands of it completely if it's all a lie. To add insult to injury the legal information on the listing states:
"Hosts who have registered with Booking.com as a private host are parties that rent out their property or properties for purposes which are outside their trade, business, or profession. They are not officially traders (like a global hotel chain) and therefore may not fall under the same consumer protection rules under EU law, BUT DON'T WORRY, Booking.com provides you with the same customer service as we do with any stay. This doesn't mean that your stay or experience will be any different than booking with a professional host."
Absolute twaddle! I have used Booking.com loyally for years, but NEVER again!
I am following up an earlier poor review of this facility and the Property Manager Vacasa. Their desk rep leaves at 9:45 and a dog in the room (204) above us was barking incessantly. At 11 PM, I went to the front desk to find another way to get help. They provided an after hours number which I called and left a message. No response at all and I left a note on the Hotel Door of the irresponsible owner. I registered my displeasure with Booking.com and am committed to never dealing with Vacasa again. They do not empower their employees to make responsible decisions to keep customers happy. The previous night, there were 5 other rooms that would have satisfied us but the employee at Vacasa did not have the authority to authorize a change. She stated her Supervisor would call within one hour. He never did and we retained our dark basement room.
I am a Genius top customer supposedly with Booking.com.
A simple online booking of flight error lost whole amount. I pushed send immediately realised error tried to contact them absolutely no response.
When I eventually did through persistence it was my problem no offer of rectification despite my status.
They are Terrible. Use this at your peril.
After spending 4 nights in a Comfort Inn I was told by Choice Privileges my stay would earn no points because it was booked through Booking.com. Now I know why several previous stays at various hotels resulted in no rewards points. There is no value to Booking.com other than checking rates. Then call your hotel directly for the best value.
I hate writing 5-star reviews because they're so similar and untrustworthy to me... But this time I'm not sceptical at all. I don't know what I would do if it wan't for this service. Great choice of accomodation options, fast booking and smooth service. I've never had any problems here, so I'm pretty positive and sure about the 5 stars.
Worst customer services I've ever had the misfortune of speaking to. Just talk and nothing gets done. Out of pocket £1500 for a month due to a double charge and no sign of resolution. Just "it is our policy to wait"... all based in an Indian call centre... useless! Fraud! Monopoly on the market so can treat customers like ****
I love booking.com because you find the cheapest rates here. There's no loyalty perks, such as getting a free stay when you've booked 5 nights, but you do get "genius" discounts when you've booked 10 nights through their site. I go on business trips often and never pay more than $40 a night for a room, although those are 2-3 star hotels which some people may not be okay with. I love how you can book a room without having to pay in advance, and how you can cancel your room up to one day before your scheduled booking without being charged to do so. It's a great site and it may have low stars here on sitejabber, but don't knock it before you try it!
Do not buy airline tickets on Booking.com. Use direct sales w/ carrier imho. If you need to change flights or dates—essentially can lose all yr money & even double cost of original ticket! No returns or wallet option at least w/ Condor via Booking.com & dates difficult to change thereupon! Bookings. NAH!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.

I am sorry to hear this. Booking.com does not specialize in car rentals. Our affiliate rentalcars.com is advertised as a link towards the bottom of confirmation emails sent from Booking.com. If you have reserved your rental car through this company, you will have to contact their Customer Service department with the following address: http://bit.ly/Qvuj0H. I hope this information has addressed your concerns.
