Problems with payment

I ordered my ring from Zoara and my initial experience was good. Ordering the ring was easy and customer service seemed good. However a week later when I enquired about the order status I was told the ring was near completion and would be shipped soon. As of today it has been almost two more weeks since then and there is no further word on my order. As of last week Zoara has stopped responding to emails and phone calls. Apparently my ring is stuck in customs in Hong Kong somewhere and there are no updates from Zoara on the status. Extremely frustrating and disappointing shopping experience with Zoara. I will definitely not be back.

UPDATE: Yesterday I finally received the ring after multiple follow ups and after finally escalating this to a manager at Zoara. The actual ring is gorgeous and I am glad to say that it is even better than I imagined. The box it came in with the light inside is a nice touch. But the ring most importantly is stunning. While the service I received for the past 3 weeks was terrible and a real hassle the fact that the actual product is so amazing and great value for money makes me change my ratings. I still wish their customer service was better but the quality of their product has totally changed my mind about Zoara. I did not expect the ring to be this beautiful.

We decided on this site when my original engagement ring could not be sized properly. One of the reason we went with them because all of the great reviews and their 2-3 days shipping. We ordered on a Friday so I expected to see it the following Wednesday or thursday at the latest. Being engaged newly with no ring to show is not so much a fun thing... here is my 10 minute story to everyone instead of just flashing the bling. Anyways, waiting... then some explanation about how their vendor required payment first (not out problem) and kinda wierd it was even mentioned. Then the diamond we selected was no longer available (shady and disappointing but believe the vendor did not update their stock) AGAIN not our problem. So a similar diamond was offered and then received almost 2 weeks after the 2-3 days that was advertised. If I had know this then we would have waited the 3 weeks at a retail store for correct sizing. The ring is gorgeous and very happy with what my fiance picked. I love it but the new diamond has a different type of inclusion that the other did not even though it was sold to fiance as better quality. No discount, good customer service but not really apologetic or worried about our experience. Just remember they can be returned and do answer emails for the most part so that is a plus.

Unexpected costs

I purchased a ring through the Zoara site and was disappointed initially as there was a delay in the ring being shipped. I wasn't made aware of the delay and had to contact them to find out what the issue was. Once that was sorted, the ring was despatched a few days later. I was nervous purchasing the ring from Australia as it is a long way to send it back if things go wrong, however looking at this site - everyone seemed happy. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call from the Courier company in USA advising that I had to pay a further $290 in customs fees (on a $1200 ring). I contacted Zoara who have advised they use a catch all phrase that the 'customer is responsible for any duties, taxes & GST' - however there is no indication on purchase that we are going to be responsible for these extra charges when purchasing from Australia. Buyers outside of USA - be conscious of extra charges.

Two days later I am now updating this review. Zoara are bending over backwards to assist and ensure my experience is a positive one. Still to receive the ring, but there customer service is tremendous.

Avoid business with Zoara at all costs. I placed an order for a ring which was supposed to ship within 2-3 business days according to their site, however I received no correspondence of the ring shipping. After waiting a week, with no response to my emails regarding the order status (and even an attempt to cancel the order!), I called their customer service number during their business hours, but the majority of the time, no one picked up. Out of the 12 calls I placed over different days and times, I managed to speak to customer service 4 times. I was told this company uses an internet phone (red flag) for a customer service line, and I suppose it doesn't always work. After a week, they were still waiting to hear back from the diamond supplier and had no further information (red flag- shouldn't they be monitoring this constantly and have the logistics to run their operations?). Eventually, they reached the supplier and promised a new ship date. On this new ship date, they were actually setting the stone, which took several more days, and I was promised FedEx Priority Overnight shipping, as I had a trip later that week and would not be able to sign for the package. Zoara shipped using their standard shipping, and I confirmed this with FedEx. Every single promise they made to me about my order was unfulfilled. I am now without a ring and need to reassess my plans. I can't imagine others using this company for something as important as their engagement, and I am regretting that I used them at all. Stay far away!

I searched many different websites for where to purchase a loose diamond and read many reviews. Zoara's website was very intuitive and easy to find the right diamond. Besides that, their prices are much cheaper than most other websites but most importantly their customer service was top notch! I had ordered one diamond and before Zoara's team shipped it, they called me after speaking with the diamond vendor to let me know of some potential drawbacks with the diamond to insure I would be happy with it. They didnt just ship out the diamond and actually advised me against it! With their help I continued my search until finding what I was looking for. Their team was extremely helpful and patient, and did not try to sell me something that didnt meet their standards. They were really quick in responding when I asked for photos of diamonds, and were always advising me against diamonds that I might not like. They did not try to up sell me either! No need to fear purchasing from Zoara. Excellent customer service, great website, and unbeatable prices. Save yourself some time and money.

Do not buy from Zoara! I had a horrible experience with Zoara. I'd read several reviews and went into the experience with high hopes and was deeply disappointed. After finding a diamond for an engagement ring and ordering it, they pulled the classic BAIT AND SWITCH! First, they claimed they couldn't accept my credit card after I had checked with my credit card, e-mailed Zoara identification and a copy of the credit card. They asked me to send a Wire Transfer from my bank. Then, when they finally accepted the credit card 2 days later, the diamond was "no longer available." Very frustrating experience. They said they would provide a diamond of higher quality for the same price, but, when I researched the diamond I found it on their web-site for LESS than I paid and it was of poorer Polish, clarity and dimensions! Everything I had read about companies you SHOULD NOT DO BUSINESS WITH, THEY DID! Stay away from Zoara!

I was looking for a great ring at a great price and thankfully I found Zoara.com. The websites layout is excellent and there was a great choice of rings in many different styles. I really liked the fact that you were able to select the band that you liked then pick a suitable diamond to compliment the band. There is a diamond to suit most budgets so you can go as small or large as you want. There is a helpful tool which educated me on the four C's and how to apply these to the diamond selection.
The online support is excellent, I had to use it twice to ask various questions about sizing and other things to do with the design.
My only criticism is the lack of a finger view to see how the ring would look on the average sized finger, without this it's very difficult to know whether a band is too thick or thin or whether the size diamond you're selecting will look too small/large.
The ring arrived in lovely packaging and looked amazing, my fiancé has not stopped smiling since she received it, which meant the world to me. So thank you Zoara!

Hello, i just wanted to share my experience with ZOARA. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment which cost me money for nothing.
The purchase was a diamond ring with a total value of 1048$, all good so far. The problem started with payment method, I went with the normal procedure of ordering the item until I hit the payment step. For some reason (unexplained one, according to customer support) the payment wasn't able to be completed via direct pay with card. They supplied an alternative method by wire transfer. Talked to the bank and issued a wire transfer to zoara (cost so far 15$ in commission). Although the wire transfer has 1.5% discount the invoice didn't reflect this (please pay attention on this).

Payment took almost 3 working days to be cleared (I'm from europe). After 2 days of payment confirmation I've received an email that the diamond I've added to the ring is not available anymore and that they will reserve another one with the vendor (according to them with same or better quality). Unfortunately the second diamond didn't have an actual photo so that I can see if there is any flaws in the center of the diamond.

All in all i would not recommend ZOARA simply because theire purchasing procedures are not in customer favor.

We're sorry to hear of your disappointment.

Upon checking your case we saw that your credit card payment attempt did not pass our security checks and therefore an alternate method of payment was offered. The 1.5% discount was reflected in the amount that you were asked to pay and it would have been reflected in the invoice provided when shipped. As your order didn't ship since you cancelled it and were refunded, you did not receive an invoice for it.

Banks can and typically do charge wire fees, however the wire discount typically cancels them out.

We order diamonds upon the receipt of payment since until the payment arrives there is no guarantee that it was made. Unfortunately diamonds are for sale to other companies as well and are always subject to prior sale. Per our policy we offered you a significant upgrade at our expense but unfortunately you did not accept our suggestions and asked for a refund.

Your refund was sent for the exact sum received. Since your payment to us was missing a significant amount, you received less than what you were asked to pay us. If you would have provided us with the full payment, that would have been sent to you.

We regret that you did not accept our solutions offered and we can assure you that Zoara maintains strict precision with payments. If you are refunded for an order, you will be sent back exactly what was paid.

I am very happy with my purchase from Zoara. When I started my search for an engagement ring for my girlfriend, I had a specific design in mind, but I didn't have the budget to custom make a ring completely. So I decided to look online and after looking through review sites, I found Zoara. One of their settings in their design your own ring gallery really jumped out at me as similar to what I had in mind, but it wasn't perfect. I was looking for a princess cut solitaire ring, but I wanted the band to be thicker than what was listed on the site. When I called Zoara and asked them if it would be possible for them to thicken the band to suit my needs, they told me that it would be no problem at all. I was amazed! They didn't even need to "check with the manager" and call me back. It was as easy as pie. Well, I went ahead and ordered the ring and the diamond right then over the phone. The ring arrived in less that two weeks just as I had ordered it. It looked amazing! My fiance totally adores the ring, and is really happy with the custom width. I still can't believe I found the ring I'd always wanted to give her at such a good price. Thanks zoara!

Unfortunately your diamond was out of stock which was discovered on the weekend. We had to wait until Monday in order to contact you with alternates but you contacted us on the weekend and we had to explain then without the alternated prepared yet.

In events of items being out of stock, our policy is to upgrade the customer whenever possible or to refund them if this is not a possibility. You requested a refund which was processed within 1 business day of your request.

Your claim of taking years to refund a customer is false and utterly baseless. We regret that you decided to post false information over this issue when we have refunded you immediately as you requested.

I spent the better part of 3 months shopping for an engagement ring. I visited just about every site, went to every mall chain store, and even went to independent jewelers that lines Chicago's Michigan Avenue. I kept finding either poor quality diamonds or if I were lucky to find a decent diamond, it would be out of my price range. After doing some research, I decided to give Zoara a call. I have to say, I'm glad that I did. The two reps I dealt were (they were named Sharon and David) both were fantastic. They helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Even after I told them my budget, they were respectful of it and never tried to get me to spend more money. They in fact helped me save money by directing me to eye clean SI1 stones rather than the more expensive VS1 stones I had been looking at. I've never had an experience before where a sales rep actually tried to save me money. Long story short, I received the ring I ordered and it surpassed all expectations. The service, craftsmanship, and overall experience were superior to any expectations I could've had.

Wonderful diamonds and service!
This has by far been the best shopping experience of my life. From the moment that I contacted Zoara I received nothing but VIP treatment. All of the questions that I asked were answered truthfully and patiently and nobody pushed me to buy something that I didn't want to get. On the contrary the Zoara staff made sure that I didn't overpay and really took care to ensure that my money was well spent.
In addition, they are VERY skilled at custom made jewelry- I gave them several designs that I was considering and within a couple of days their designers already had the perfect prototype made. Because it was a custom design the order took a little longer to ship out but I really can't complaint about that. The diamond that was set in the ring was simply stunning and more brilliant than anything that I have seen in any store. My resizing went also without a hitch.
This is a company that you can really trust. They are fair, honest, great at what they do and stand behind their warranty without a fault.

I'll be honest, I knew nothing about diamonds when I started my search about a month ago. I first found Zoara's page when searching for information on what to look for in a diamond. I found their site's information pages helpful, but I still had a few questions. I decided to call them up and it was then I had my first contact with Zoara.
I spoke with Ben and he answered all of my questions I had about diamonds and what characteristics are more important than others. He even picked out some diamonds after I told him my specifications and budget. He really won me over when he suggested diamonds that fit my criteria without stretching my budget. Every other company I was speaking with was trying to get me to buy a diamond I couldn't afford. Over the course of a week, I spoke with Ben, Dan, and David about various diamonds that I either found of they had found based upon my specifications.
Eventually I settled on a diamond and made my purchase for the diamond and a solitaire setting I had picked out. The package arrived later that week and the ring was beautiful. It looks even better on my fiance's finger.

I came across Zoara after some significant research into different diamond brokers, when I decided I would be getting engaged. I worked with Dan Lax as my consultant. He was thorough, educational, and provided a definite value-added service in helping me find exactly the right stone. I gave him my stone criteria and pricing parameters thinking I'd be lucky if I came away with 75% of that met. Dan and Zoara quickly came back to me with a list of stones that matched every single ask of mine and on top of that, he helped me find a stone that was nearly 10% bigger than what I had originally asked. All that, and the pricing was more aggressive than both BlueNile and JamesAllen (relatively close but a noticeable difference in price). I ended up with a 3.00+CT cushion cut diamond that was cut absolutely perfectly.

My fiance was ecstatic and could not have loved the stone more.

I could not have been any happier with my experience with Zoara and Dan (and even the other support members as well). The entire process was laid back, simple, and easy. They never tried to "sell" me on anything; they simply took a consultative approach to help me find what I was looking for. I could not recommend this site enough.

For the past month I was in the market for an engagement ring and I was very serious in buying one as I will propose this coming August. I contacted 3 Zoara customer service agents through their online chat concerning loose diamonds. It's been over a week and 2 of them never followed up. The one that did simply sent me automated emails without any info concerning my requests. I had to recontacted them, but no progress has been made. During that time I also contacted other online retailers and they were very prompt with their replies and helping me make an educated choice as most of you must know choosing a diamond can become quite overwhelming. They sent me 10x pictures of different diamonds, back and forth emails, phone calls, follow ups and helping me narrowing my choices. When I finally chose the retailer I wanted to do business with, they helped me into creating the perfect custom settings to go with my diamond. A very pleasant shopping experience. But here at Zoara, I only requested a 10x picture of 1 single diamond and they have yet to send me anything, nor did they do any real follow up. When I asked one of their agent a 10x picture, she thought I wanted 10 pictures of the same diamond hahaha lol. Seriously? During that time I was able to choose the right diamond for me, create my custom setting and place the order with a competitor. Zoara is a real joke. Shame on you! Makes me wonder if their diamonds are legitimate since they can't even provide a single picture. Buyers beware!
