I had them replace my timing belt for $400 plus they asked me if I was going to buy the parts. I did and bought OEM parts. After 7 mos, the belt failed, the engine is toast, and I'm now out $600 for the belt and labor and $4,200 for a new engine. When I asked about the 12 month/12,000 mi warranty, they wanted to charge another $85 to have someone look at the belt to see if its their fault. That would be like asking the murderer to investigate the crime. After numerous calls, they finally agreed to take it to their warranty dept for a review... never heard from them again. Lesson learned.
They canceled less than one hour before the appointment and told me to reschedule A WEEK LATER. Already had to wait 10 days for the first appointment. YES they cancel and then put you in the back of the line. No incentive to rebook as they would be able to cancel again and never actually help you.
First they jacked up the price by $250 dollars the day before the appointment, after I had already got a quote and scheduled it. Then the mechanic complained about having to come in early over text and then cancelled on me the day of and I still got charged $30.
They seem to grab guys off of the street to send to your home. Incompetent company. Would never use again.
STAY AWAY. This company failed to show up twice for me, costing me two half days of work, far more money than if I had just gone to a regular mechanic. The first time they said that they 'double booked' by accident, (the mechanic himself made the appointment on the phone) and I had to wait an hour before I could contact someone to tell me he wasn't coming. For a $600+ bill they offered me a $20 discount for my inconvenience. 3% discount. Geez, maybe I'll by a Big Mac!
The second time, late at night after I was asleep, and therefore too late to reschedule the next day, I got a text message he wasn't coming for a 'personal emergency'.
Not only that, but a week before he also tried to get me to do work 'on the side' outside of the company.
This seems like a good idea, but in actuality, it is a farce, and you are far better off going to a real mechanic at at real auto shop. Perhaps the reason this particular mechanic is working this way and not at an auto shop is that he cannot hold a job in the real world. Perhaps my car and I are really lucky that this screw up happened, Perhaps y'all will read this a go somewhere else
I tried to call to get a quote on my car and left a message since they didn't answer. I went about my day, and they called me while I was cooking. Whoever called me sent me a VERY rude text after calling me twice within a span of two minutes. Excuse me for not getting to my phone on time? Definitely not taking my business here, after that so I continued doing what I was doing. Then another guy called me from this place three times before I could get to my phone. Two being seconds after then the third one minute later. I answered the fourth time and he called me a "B**tch" and said, "F**k you". I mean how impatient and $#*!ed can you be? Excuse me for being busy? And not answering after 2 seconds? Don't do business with these cavemen. Spend your time and money with someone who isn't 5 years old and knows what they're doing and has basic manners like a normal human being.
I bought a 2011 Volkswagen Golf from a dealer a little over a year ago. Right from the get go, the car's electrical system was a huge issue: EPC and Catalytic Converter lights flashing on and off at unpredictable times. Occasional rough idling and stalling at stop signs and traffic lights. A failed central computer (which I had replaced, but didn't solve the intermittent problems). And the last straw: at 60 MPH on 35E North in Saint Paul, a red Generator light came on and the engine died. I pulled into the breakdown lane. After a minute I was able to start the engine, and resumed my trip.
A local garage (which I respect) diagnosed the problem as a failed Generator and a bad Crankshaft Position Sensor and offered to replace both for $1600. For a second opinion, I went to Your Mechanic. Travis arrived, and I described in detail all my experiences with the car.
He was skeptical of the other garage's diagnosis. "When a Generator fails, that's it. It's dead." To prove his point, he measured the Amps output of the Generator. It was well within range.
In summary, he said: "Your description of the issues points to an electrical system issue, not a mechanical one."
Travis could have replaced the parts, but he felt it wouldn't solve the core issue and Your Mechanic would be on the hook for a a 12 month-12,000 mile warranty. He referred me to another garage that specializes in European cars.
I'm an older guy, and I recall a time (the 1950s) when garages/mechanics stood by their work. Unfortunately, that time has long passed. I want Travis to know I respect (and feel in debt to) his honesty and integrity. I will definitely call on him again!
I made an appointment to replace an alternator and other parts through Jim. John called to say he didn't have the tool to replace the serpentine belt for my Mini Cooper and asked for more info about the car. Then we postponed the appointment for the following week. I had already bought the parts I wanted John to install. However, I wasn't sure what days I would have days off from work, so we temporarly booked for Tuesday. He did not have a time for Wednesday, but to call him to reschedule. However, there is no way to call your mechanic as he uses a bogus phone number to call you. There is no way to contact your mechanic via the website.
Thus, I had to schedule an appointment with Mr. Nguyen. Two days before my appointment, I get a message that the original quote had to be changed. It was a few hundred dollars higher and he charged me for parts. Thus, I canceled the appointment and will go find a live mechanic whom I can do business.
I also read the reviews here and just came on to warn people about doing business with yourmechanic.com.
Scheduled an appointment online, called the staff to talk to a mechanic to ensure it was the correct price, going over all details. Was called a day before the appointment to confirm my new (almost double) price because they need to change how much labor they need. Told them about my previous conservation and the guy basically told me to deal with it. Bad miscommunication, won't do anything to resolve issue, give us your money, give us more, or else.
Have been dealing with Yourmechanic since 2016. Never had a problem, until recently November 2018 to present. In November my check engine light came on, and they came and diagnosed my 2002 Ford F-150 with bad ignition coils. Got those done, and all was well for a month. The light came back on, and they rediagnosed as an issue with the airflow meter. Another month, and another light issue. This time it was still the mass airflow meter. Cleaned and worked for another few months. Light came back on, and then they said it was the intake manifold. Just had that replaced in 2016 but they said once done the truck will run fine. Had them do the service, truck still ran like crap. Master mechanic comes and finds it is a few vacuum hoses, coils and spark plugs. Your mechanic says we'll get back to you on warranty, that was on the 15th of May. Still have not heard back from them. Have called 9 times since the 15th and still promising they'll get back to me. Seems to me, that they are incapable of doing the necessary diagnostic, and just guess at what it may be. Having you throw money at the issue, and not honoring their warranty. Will be calling my cc companies today, to get a chargeback for all transactions done since 2018, as they have breached the warranty contract. Have fun with these idiots, they are NOT worth your time and money.
Bad service. And they will just keep adding fees... they sent one mechanic who was wrong and didn't do a full inspection. So they agreed to refund me $89.99 but lied... they said ok we did the refund now wait 1-3 days. I did - nothing. I called and a new lady said yes the refund went through but it can take 1-5 days so I waited and NOTHING. It is a scam. They agreed to send a new mechanic to come and they said yes mam it will be free because it was our fault the mechanic we sent you didn't honestly do his job. And the mechanic they sent asked for a whole new $89.99 BEFORE he looked at my car and he never did because we fought and I said I'm not paying that and he said ok it's a $25 appointment cancellation fee and I said how when this appointment was to fix the last problem and offered to me... I WILL get my refund... I'm calling first thing tomorrow. Oh I bet that's why they said it can take 5 days, because today is the day they said it would come and it's a Friday... they knew DAMN well they would be closed 2 days after that... I'm going to get my refund on MONDAY and leave a bad review everywhere else you guys are fraud.
I have tried to give this company a chance. I paid for an oil change and my oil light is still on and they did not reset my car. I had to send an email which I did not receive a response, and I called in and the guy in customer service told me that I had to reset it myself. Who does that? I paid them and trusted them for an oil change. He told me in order to have someone to come out to reset it I would need to pay for it. This is service is not professional. I will go to a trusted mechanic. Beware before you use this service. I used it for the convenience but end up having to go to another mechanic. Not worth it.
I don't know on which planet they have the estimate prices for repairs, but for sure isn't on earth. Only seeing those prices I wouldn't want to book a mechanic from you to fix my car.
You will be scammed by YourMechanic. I had good mechanics from them but the the company itself will try to get every penny you have for the simplest job!
Keith Sterling is the Tech. Sent to work on my Toyota Camry and his diagnosis of the car was so accurate that by his 2nd visit today, the car is up and perfectly running. And I'm so impressed.
Tried to book the mechanic who had years of experience ( my car is 34 years old) to install a starter (I have the part) was quoted a price and when I accepted, the price and mechanic changed. I could not book the older experienced mechanic. Instead some kid young enough to be my grandson was offered repeatedly (no background info given). I am not stupid nor that desperate.
I bought their service from shift.com, turn out its the biggest disaster of my life. My car is a porsche boxter, the mechanic is so unprofessional, he did not have the tools to set my car computer nor to measure the oil limit. It costed me 2000 to repair, and when I asked a refund (only refund of my package not compensation of repair), they gave whatever excuses you can think of to dodge. What a trash company, do not ever ever ever buy their service.
I booked an appointment for Red light flashing on the dashboard.
A mechanic came and replaced the oil pressure sensor without knowing the actual reason. When the problem not resolved then customer support is asking to reschedule a new appointment with new charges to investigate the real reason. This is really ridiculous... Its total a scam.
My mechanic installs brake pads and now I smell burning, then the mechanic quotes me to install new brake pads on the same. I wasted 158.00 for nothing because of a mechanic who is trying to enrich himself. Then I already had my tires rotated and he put down I have to get them rotated again. I will have to take them to court for abusing people. I have a warranty and they want to charge me. Be careful they are scam artist file complaints with the Attorney General, Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission.
I called them and told them my situation that I needed a fuel diagnostic test. The lady said yeah, no problem we can do that. I explained to her that I got bad fuel from a gas station and that I needed to make sure they could diagnose and repair the problem, because if they couldn't I'd call another company. She swore up and down they could/would do it. I agreed to have them come out for the dignoistics. They come out, I wait around all day to get a quote, which i. Never got because they can't do anything with fuel system's. They advertise that they can, but they can only do a fuel pump, that's it! I've tried to get my 85 dollars refunded back to me. They haven't responded back in 2 days now
Answer: Don't do it. They have scam written all over them. Was told different prices from different people within days of eachother
Answer: Good call. They're not touching anything of mine ever again!
