Despite their online claim to the contrary (which states that they'll match competitor pricing), Ken R. -- via their chat app -- wasted 35+ minutes of my time asking me to email him quotes from a competitor (in multiple formats)... after I did, he still refused to match the quote. Surprising that this company would allow their front-line employees to treat prospective customers in that manner. YLighting = Never again!
This aha started in early March. I ordered a light. I received an email saying I need to verify my info so I called and did so. The company cancelled my order without notifying me. I had arranged for an electrician to show up but of course there was no light. The customer service department didn't know what happened and had no explanation. I had to put in a new order that was supposed to ship in 7 days. It is now an addition 3 weeks and customer service has no idea again what is going on. Honestly, the worst experience ever. Do not buy from this place I'm am starting to think it is a scam.
Y Lighting delivered an incomplete order. After eight hours on the phone, the issues are still unresolved. We waited over four months for the order. It is still incomplete. They have taken our money but failed to deliver the products
I ordered two lights from Ylighting. What they send was only a part of the light. I asked to return it and they refused to return it, all sales final, even though they had not sent me the right order. Argued with customer service for 10 minutes. He just kept parroting sale is final. Better Business Bureau is next.
Horrible company.
When I placed my order the customer service rep was great. I ordered a chandelier and then 8 foot extension rods. Lamp came quickly and in great condition. I then received an email stating the the rods were canceled successfully.
WHAT? I called to learn that an phone inquiry i had where I asked about refund policies translated into cancellation of the rods even thought their rep (named Joe) guaranteed that the this was not the case. I had to re-order I now have to wait 6 weeks for new shipping so lamp just sits holding up my remodel. All attempts to rush shipping failed. No further communication from Ylighting even with several attempts. Never will order from them again! I recommend shopping elsewhere. Mark Friedlander
We purchased $5K worth of lights: 5 Tom Dixon pendants, and 2 Hollis and Morris fixtures-pendant and ceiling. We inspected the fixtures upon arrival but did not check on the canopies and attachments. One of the larger Tom Dixon pendants was shipped without the canopy and ceiling attachments. I talked to no fewer than 4 CS reps whose only recourse (they said) was to contact the manufacturer and hope they'd send me the parts. I asked 3 times to talk to a supervisor and was told they were busy but would contact me. That never happened. Finally, after 3 weeks of nothing, I became a raving banshee and, shocker, my parts shipped the next day. This is unacceptable. The lights are fabulous but I cannot recommend YLighting or Lumens because of this frustrating interaction. Oh, still waiting on those call backs from a supervisor.
They would not accept the return of a light I purchased because it was not within the 30 day return window and refused to make an exception for a repeat customer. I had purchased the light (along with several others) and did not know from my electrician within the 30 days that it wouldn't work (he hung it up once other renovation work was completed but we had to take down because it would not work on the same switch with other lighting being added). I have the original packaging and it is in perfect condition. Y Lighting also continues to sell this item. It would have cost them nothing to issue me a store credit which I would have applied to the other lighting purchases I am planning (which I will now buy elsewhere). There are so many online lighting stores now -- why buy from one that doesn't care about it's customers?
So I ordered a LED light fixture and realized it doesnt dim with out a high pitched noise. I was told to replace the dimmer with an electronic ballast dimmer. That still didn't work.
So they gave me 25% off which was considerate of them.
Then months later I get an emIl stating another fixture us on the way.
I called and explained I didn't order this fixture. He said it was no charge and not to worry.
So I received another fixture thinking that was nice of them for all my trouble.
2 weeks later they somehow forced my old credit card through to pay 1800 dollars.
I spend several days on the phone with their customer service dept to no avail and was last told a supervisor would call me back. That never happened.
So now the burden of shipping it back is on me and to add insult to injury I got an email saying if the package isn't packed properly I wouldn't get my refund. Need I say the box arrived barely In one piece.
Item paid for and approved. Five days later item not shipped. I went through chat they said you have to call. They never sent an email about my order in hold. They wanted to verify my address and phone number before they shipped! Wtf! They were paid with the billing and ship address being verified. I have to report them. No way this flies.
I've purchased twice from YLighting, and both experiences were perfect, and seamless. They did exactly what they said they would do, and their merchandise is top notch. Couldn't get better than these two experiences.
I ordered a light fixture that was advertised to ship within 7 days. On the day it was supposed to ship, we received an email indicating that it wasn't going to ship for an additional 6 weeks. I tried to cancel that part of the order and was told that the manufacturer would not cancel it, because it was "in production" - which total BS. DO NOT order anything from this company.
Their website incorrectly marketed 5 lights that we ordered as 3000k vs. 2700k. When the fixtures arrived, no where on the package did it say the temperature was 2700k vs. 3000k. We installed the lights thinking they were 3000k as their website states. When we turned the lights on we realized the difference in color temperature from all others in our home. I actually have 7 of the same lights already. They would not accept any return or exchanges of any kind. 2 of their customer service representatives validated the fact their website was confusing and misleading but stood by their inability to accept the returns since the lights were installed, leaving us out of pocket $700. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was blow off. If I could rate them zero stars I would.
The lights I ordered took 6 weeks to arrive and when they did I couldn't install them as they weren't up to code. Save your time and money as their customer service is terrible. I ended up paying to ship the lights back just so I didn't have to deal with them anymore.
I am a trade who has worked with many different companies and I have experienced the worst possible customer service from this company. At this point they have stolen money from me and I cannot get the same person on the phone twice to discuss it. I had two damaged light fixtures (one was a replacement) and my client decided to return both of them because he no longer trusted that they were quality. I was assured that we would get our money back, but we shipped both fixtures back and they are saying that they never received them. I was on the phone with a rep who sent me the return shipping for both fixtures. I told him that they had the same number and asked if it would be an issue and he told me it would not.
I placed an order on this site on July 14th. The company charged my card (an authorization) - which held up the funds on my credit card. I called the cc company and they said all the company has to do is call them on a MERCHANT line to release or authorize the funds. I called them four times, spent an hour on hold. I spoke with Janelle who was rude, condescending and completely unhelpful. Then I had to call back and I spoke with Letti who pretended to be helpful, and promised to have a manager call me back that day. They never did. It would have taken them 2 minutes to resolve the problem, but they refused to help at all BEWARE!
I've been shopping at ylighting.com for years now, and they always have the best selection of modern stuff to replace all of the ugly in my house (I've been remodeling). From some fans I bought when I first moved in to charming accessories for my nursery, they've always gotten me what I need. Some of their special items are made-to-order from Europe, but customer service has always kept me in the loop, and it's always been worth the wait!
Ordered a light fixture, arrived defective, after spending $185.00 that day for an electrican's time to install only to find it was broken. Followed all their instruction to the T about sending the fixture packaged exactly like it came. I've had to call them 3 times asking for my refund... very disrespectful customer service agents every time. Tracked the package and it was indeed delivered back to them a week ago. Still waiting on the refund... buyer beware... do not purchase through this company.
Complete lack of respect and not deserving of your business. By the way, I NEVER had customer service this bad and felt the need to write a review. BEWARE
Found out 2 weeks after return period ended that a fixture wasn't as advertises, they refused to refund without a 25% restocking fee even though I was poised to order another $10,000 in merch from them for a new home build. Had to cancel an order I'd just placed. The sales person was completely unhelpful with customer service, and the customer service people just didn't care. They dont sell anything you cannot buy from other vendors, and they charge more than other vendors.
I was so disappointed with Ashley in customer service that I returned my order. Very sad. I entered a code that Ylighting emailed me for a discount and they refused to honor it.
We received the light we purchased, after waiting a very long time. The light had clearly been returned by a previous buyer, as the wires were all twisted at the ends from wire nuts having been previously installed! We had electricians and lighting company tell us not to use this light, that it appears dangerous! Additionally, we were never able to get this light to work, not even once! I've been trying to get a refund for months now and the company only responds about once a week and every time they pretend they are going to send me more parts. I've told them multiple times I want my money back and they have yet to refund my money! I plan to take further legal action against the company!
Answer: I bought a $3,000 flush mount ceiling lamp. For starters, the lamp came slightly damaged, which wasn't their fault. They offered me 10% off to keep, which I accepted. However, once I had the electrician installed it, the dimmer didn't work. I called them and they were nice in the beginning trying to help me troubleshoot the issue. During this time, I had the electrician come out three times doing what they told me to do, but in the end, the electrician told me that this is a commercial light and uses 5 wires, while residential homes use 3 wires. So, when I called them to tell them this, they first said, I took the 10% off and accepted it. I had to remind them that was for the damage. After I overcame that, next they said it has been too long since I ordered the light, but then I told them that I have been in constant contact with them about this and I had to schedule the electrician three times to come out which takes time as well. In the end, they basically said that they sell residential and commercial lights and that I should have called them before ordering to confirm. The bottom line, this company will absolutely do anything to not refund you.
Answer: They have a nice Website, but if you search their name, they have the absolute worst reviews.
