The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Maurice is the best! Was hurting pretty bad got me in right away, within a week was feeling better!
Omg, got hit with a bill of almost $1000 for absolutely no converted leads. Sales rep told me they had a dedicated team with her as the account manager who would promote my page. The more I make the more they make, she said. She walked through the purchase process. Then a $1000 bill came. I spoke with "Dominick" at the Phoenix office who pretty much said that, regardless of what may have been sold over the phone to me, I was ultimately responsible for having manually selected whatever options I selected at 'checkout.' The advertising 'bonus' was 'obviously' meant as something 'above' what is normally given, and the 'bonus' was spread out over the course of six months. I said, that's not what I was told. He said, but that's what was written for you to read. I said, the sales rep hurried me through the process and I 'trusted' what she represented. His entire attitude was pretty much, 'too bad, should have read more carefully.' What a bait and switch. I'm complaining with the BBB although they have an F rating with them (and aren't even BBB accredited)
Beware of doing business with this company. They will take your money without giving you real leads. They claimed lots of people clicked on my company profile, yet I never spoke to a real human being even though I requested these supposed leads to call me on the phone so that I could ask them some questions about the type of service they were looking for. I do not believe these were real people but fake leads just to charge me their fraudulent fees, They are really stupid and greedy. If they would have gotten me real leads and fulfilled their end of the agreement they would have stood to make almost $7000 a year from my company in advertising revenue, instead they ripped me off for just under $500 before I cancelled their fraudulent service. Real dummies. You will be sorry if you deal with these scam artists. "F" RATING
I can only hope that businesses being solicited by Yelp or considering advertising with Yelp check reviews before spending their hard-earned marketing dollars. For a company that boasts reviews of other companies, they sure fall short of their own customer service and marketing promises. Their Customer "Satisfaction" Reps are rude, uncompromising, actually shouted at me on the phone, offer no responsibility and left me anything but satisfied. At a cost of $45 per website click with no guarantee of any further customer interaction or ROI, using Yelp ads is the absolute worst advertising decision I ever made.
Do not advertise with yelp, I wanted to pause my ad I called and emailed yelp, they ensure me it won't be any charge at the time my ad was paused, a month letter they billed me for the ad at the time it was supposed to be paused. Do not advertise with them.
I called customer service to ask why out of 40 reviews my business had gotten, they had taken 32 of them off. The representative responded with a horrible attitude, "Did you not watch the video? That should explain everything..." Then he went on to say, "sorry. We don't control anything, a system does it on it's on. If you want to ask customers for reviews, tell them to go on Google or Facebook."
Yelp told me that, my review on the not recommended list. I can't see my review when i log out. Yelp keeps telling me its on the not recommended list. But seems like business owner pays for the YELP AD and they are not showing the bad( true) review on the recommended list
I'am the only person who posted proof that I was a real custom.
Yelp removes the positive reviews and only adds the negative ones? Why? I believe they want us to pay them so they can keep both types of reviews under your business. What a corrupt company they are!
I like using Yelp to do reviews on businesses. I don't use it as much as I could because I forget about them. It is a good place to either do a review on a business of search a business and see what their reviews are.
Don't even make an account with Yelp, keep your business as far away as possible from this parasite!
Hi there, if you ever read my review please do the world a favor and do not create a business profile on Yelp and also stop using your personal profile if you have one. We should not be supporting companies like Yelp and we support them by using them.
Yelp is not a company with honesty, trust, fairness and respect. I have a home and commercial cleaning business in Los Angeles, CA. I create my profile on Yelp last august (10 months ago). Since I started I've been paying $500 per month for advertisement. In November (2018) they started hiding all my reviews as "not recommended". I've been calling everybody in Yelp to have different opinions and they all say the same thing "It's a recommendation software that we can not control" They also give you some unfair options that "may be the cause" of your reviews being filtered as not recommended.
One of my biggest question is if that Yelp user was not good enough according to Yelp to count his/her review as recommended. WHY that same user was good enough when he/she clicked on my ad and Yelp took my money for it. What I mean is that "recommendation software" is just a $#*!ty software meant to manipulate the reviews so small business don't get organic leads and be force to pay for Advertisment.
Right now I only have 3 reviews on my Yelp profile and other 29 reviews (all 5 stars) filtered as not recommended. I think after you read this you can understand my frustration and I've tried everything but they just have to much power that there is nothing you can do.
It's also important to say that all this customers have contacted me thought Yelp, I have proof of conversations, invoices and whatever else would proof they're real customers. A lot of them have profile pictures, friends added and other reviews to other companies. So I'm sure you can tell they're not spam or whatever.
That's why I recommend you not do use Yelp. They're up now but I really hope they get down soon and I really think that'll happen because a company with not values can not be successful for a long time.
Yelp uses a so called Algorithm that has no ALGORITHM, in order to get a higher listing you must pay for an add with YELP. I did that in 2015 and got nowhere. What I gathered through customer service is? Keep paying them to increase your business ranking. Which is extortion no matter how you slice it...
I work in a professional office building with numerous tenants. The only tenant reviews were at least 2 years old. Two current tenants wrote positive reveiws, we responded to them on yelp, then noticed a few days later, one of the current tenant review and our response was gone. When a yelp rep happened to call to get us to upgrade, i asked her why this one review was gone. She said "it's because he's not a frequent yelp reviewer" WTF? That should NOT be the basis for a removal of any company review, let alone a positive one! I could not believe this was a legit reason! Then, when I went to write my review of Yelp, I read the plethora of negative reviews, the scams, the requests of business' to upgrade to pay for "better" service, and others who had positive reviews deleted by Yelp, it suddenly made sense that a Yekp rep suddenly call to discuss upgrades! It's criminal that they do this and have this kind of control over legitimate reviews by existing customers! It's like they hold the positive reviews hostage until you pay them! Unreal! I will never rely on Yelp after reading all the others who experienced the same unjust and criminal business ethics of a company that claims that the consumer can rely on their review system! Wow! I agree, a class action lawsuit should be initiated against these crooks! I hope Yelp doesn't delete this!
Just had a girl call me from yelp. I had just put my baby down to sleep so I told her I was good and needed to go. She started being extremely rude to me and hung up on me.
I am a sales agent for a small business and my customers continuously tell me that they have posted a review for me (some of them because they love me and some because unfortunately they were not too happy). I decided to give it a look and almost all of the positive reviews have been filtered and marked "not recommended". Yet any negative review is there for all to see. This small business does not have the money to constantly pay them or give in to their bully-like tactics. I do not believe that this is a fair way to operate business, and the actual review is invalid because it is biased and entirely based off of what Yelp decides should be posted, not the actual customers themselves. HORRIBLE< HORRIBLE< HORRIBLE
16 good reviews that don't count and a 1 star review counts from someone who never entered my business. Why is there not a class action lawsuit against YELP yet?
About 2 months ago we started business with yelp advertising, after 5 calls everyday we decided to give a shot. Person who was managing the application ensured us that we would get more than 20 leads every month for the budget we specified. Well, turned out that every click we were getting in yelp was costing us $53 dollars, yes you heard it right. $53 per click. That is insane, basically steeling small business money. Please do not fall for this trap. Google ads are much more cheaper than yelp, or facebook ads or anything else I think it would be better than Yelp. SAY NEVER TO YELP
Yelp put my review on the not recommended list. I'am the only person who posted proof that I was a real custom. They took other review that were not recommended and moved them to the recommended list. And the business that had one and a half stars now has three and a half stars.
This business hides good reviews from businesses unless they pay them. We have had horrible experiences. As soon as we stopped paying them they moved 20+ 5 star reviews to not recommended bringing our average way down. These reviews were legitimately happy guests.
Excellent service, very professional & courteous, no complaints. Would recommend this company to anyone for service
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
