Wix for the most part is great for someone trying to sell the pot holders they make or for someone with a niche market but other than that I'd either build a DNN site yourself (much more up to date modules) or just use ecrater.com.
My biggest complaint would be is that they nickel and dime you to death and place ads on pages that you will be working on most of the time causing slow load and delays in your work. They don't just put ads on the dash board they place them on pages like orders or other important pages so do not be in a hurry.
My other complaint is they are trying to reinvent the wheel. Their modules are so old fashioned or were developed by someone else so long ago there is no reason theirs don't work properly,...stuff like you would have seen when IBUYSPY was put out there by Microsoft they can't get right or don't even offer. Simple stuff like the abbreviation for states being populated, just seems like a bunch of not so bright people work there in my opinion.
It is better than nothing and if you don't have the skills or time it's a good temporary solution or if you could go to ecrater.com they've been around since IBUYSPY...
Writing a 2-star review because:
- WIX repeatedly refuses to give a customer service phone number or email. They say it doesn't exist.
- WIX has disabled paid features on my account without notice, impacting my business operations. Showed no interest in reactivating it in a timely manner.
- WIX continues to bloat the dashboard with ads for features I've already bought. They won't go away. No "dismiss" button.
- WIX inbound calls are screened out by Verizon because they trigger the scam call alarm. So even if I ask for a callback, it never comes through.
- WIX isn't too good about understanding the nuances between a non profit and a for profit. Every algorithm assumes you are a operating a large scale storefront, twisting the system into processes that are simply non-applicable.
- WIX has an office in New York. But I can only reach third party agents in New Delhi with limited access to system controls. And only through the chatbot, which incessantly brow beats me into trying to accept answers for problems I don't have.
- The WIX owner app often lags and freezes when too much text is entered. Happens with nearly any field in the app.
- My website came out pretty good. And I've been able to be somewhat productive on my own without WIX help. So I'll give two stars for that.
If you are thinking about switching to WIX, don't. I've been with them over a year and they have only left me tasting anger every time I've tried to reach them for anything.
This service Is terrible! I had to Google search their customer support. Like other customers on here, it is very difficult to reach someone. The worst part is that I have to wait a week to receive an update on a response from the department that I need to resolve the issue with, however, they do not have a direct number. If you receive a call back, it's from a different department that will listen to you and have you repeat the issue several times and in the end, tell you they can't resolve it.
My problem was that I had an item that had a logo print of Nike and I took it down, and I also needed to add the terms of policy, shipping and returns policy. This is not communicated all at once and they do not follow up on your current emails, which may state how you worked to correct the problem on the site. You are basically left with no one to communicate with and when they do, it is a quick email and they disappear again. The support is not immediate and it is not hands on with you. To resolve an issue, if explained and provided with proper support, should not take long. But, I am going on three months with trying to resolve the issue. Let's not mention I had started selling in April and had tried transferring my funds to my bank account, but nothing. I had to call them to figure out if there was a problem, otherwise, food luck! It's like doing business with a ghost. I may have lost almost $500 in income, and I have opened a website with GoDaddy.
Be very careful when it comes to these sites like WiX that help you set up your own website. I had a descent multipage website on WiX for a number of years until we got hacked. What was shocking was that we received no help whatsoever from any of their various customer service departments. They are difficult to get a hold of anyway, let alone needing to reach them for help in what we felt was a serious issue. We couldn't get any representative from their security department to even email us. My opinion, which goes along with my ridiculous experience now is that so much of our personal information is out there that these slimy companies that specialize in the exploitation of people can use that information to know our financial status. When they know your financial status and that you can't afford "justice" because justice in this lame country now costs a lot money to hire lame lawyers that are all about "money" not justice, well we're just up the creek without a paddle! Seriously, be very careful if you're planning on using a site like WiX or GoDaddy to make a website, especially for a business because they do not provide legitimate security. Oh, and by the way, google was absolutely no help either. Totally ridiculous treatment of average people trying to make progress in life. Don't patronize bad businesses!
If you want an editor that doesn't crash, saves your work and lets you freely move elements without freezing, don't choose Wix. I am a professional web developer who has made over 25 websites using Wix. If your site is going to be SUPER basic, fine. But if you want multiple elements on a page and plan to have several pages, Wix isn't capable of handling the bandwidth. Additionally, their mobile editor is not accurate by any means. It claims to rearrange elements logically and algorithmically but it moreso just moves every single element to a new spot. "I had a list in 10 different text boxes and the mobile editor flipped every single item". Regardless of browser, Wix seems to start to lag around page 7. After that it becomes worse and worse. One clients site was 32 pages- I could not edit for more than 5 minutes without it crashing or freezing. If you do choose Wix, I urge all of you to save every minute. It will crash and you will lose all your progress. I have spoken with Wix Customer support on numerous occasions for both small to large issues. In either case, they do not own up to any errors that Wix has and essentially blames the user for all freezing/lagging. Terrible service, terrible editor.
Those people have ruined my business by taking down our organization's website for no reason.
Over the past several years, I have paid large amounts of money for apps, photos, hosting, and domain registrations. Yet, I am basically ignored and treated like crap. Within the last 30 days, I have renewed a yearly subscription for 2 websites as well as renewed a Twitter feed. I am going to file a claim with my credit card company to reverse these charges since wix.com has chosen to ignore me. No need to keep giving people money when they do not respect me.
I firmly believe that wix.com deliberately sabotages your website by creating formatting problems on your pages. The reason for this is that they are trying to force you into paying for their "expert tech" support who know nothing. They're all in high school. Customer service will claim not to understand how to assist you, when 2-4 years ago, they were extremely helpful. It's all about sticking it to the customer and believing that you will simply acquiesce to their incompetence and unprofessionalism because you can't go to Google Sites or Wordpress or Godaddy.
Google wix.com leadership and see who you are dealing with and then you will understand why they do not give a **** about their customers, most of whom live in the United States.
As soon as Wix changed Pro members with 24/7 amazing customer Pro Support to "Priority support" things started to go very down! You now have to contact the Robot to get through, the person that calls you is not the department asked for. They transfer you which takes aprox 1 hours time. Ounce transferred, since Friday the new "Shadow you computer" has a "Virus". Almost 90% of employees working for Wix as support can not even log in to their "new system that has a virus". Spent 1 1/2 months with tons of windows open to resolve massive issues across the board... Wix went from 5 star to 1 1/2 star since all the awful changes have been done. There's not 1 employee that can help you as you pay for higher support. Instead, hacked across the board. Made our Meta Tags not linked properly, allowed massive copy catter companies to copy all your site and shows up higher than you on Google search. Over $15,000 loss in sales = almost going to go bankrupt and on the streets thanks to Wix. They hang up on you after 2 hour waiting time = 4 hours, 2 hours, 6 hours to even get someone proper on the phone... no help yet!? Wow thanks Wix for an awful life you brought to us :(-
I am taking a college course in which my professor is using the Wix platform to complete assignments on basic web design. I was tasked with creating free website. I created two pages with a photo I took and a few sentences. That's it. Today, I try to login and I can't. My site has vanished. I try to contact customer service through the site by either creating a ticket or getting a call back but neither is working. I had to resort to social media apps to get ahold of a person to find out why my account and site are no longer accessible. I'm told that my account was flagged. I have yet to receive an explanation why. All I did was complete the assignments I was given by my professor by centering paragraphs and adding an image. I have run sites on weebly and godaddy for a couple of years, and have never experienced anything like this. I can't even imagine what could have prompted my site to be flagged. Now I am in the process of alerting my professor and university of the issue and hope I'll be able to use one of the platforms that DOESN'T ban users for absolutely no reason in order to complete the assignments for the course. AVOID this platform, unless you want to risk losing all your content, have your account deleted, and have to jump through hoops and waste time trying to get a hold of customer care, and then good luck getting your issue resolved. DO NOT USE THIS PLATFORM.
While WIX has finally given access to a telephone number to call for "Support" i. E. questions on billing, site and technical issues... they are VERY DECEPTIVE... they list time to call desk as if they are 7 days a week available... but never pick up and route you to schedule a call and give you a call-back time ONE WEEK LATER... who needs that if you are having problems with your site or them connecting it to your URL?... If you are in business... can you afford to be OUT OF BUSINESS FOR A WEEK?
Their CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS! Use GoDaddy... for everything.
My experience with wix has been horrible. There platform is twitchy and it has been difficult to get my mobile site running... I will not be renewing my plan...
There is no contact phone number given for customer support
I lodged an application online for someone to contact me then a few weeks later I get an email to book a time in another week, I called the number at the bottom of email and he said he couldn't help me, wrong department, I asked him who could help me and he just hung up, saying I was rude.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND! It is NOT intuitive, it is insanely complicated and I have built sites on several other platforms this one is the WORST! Customer service is a bunch of people who you cannot understand and do not speak or understand English. It is glitchy, changing parts of a page are nearly impossible. It crashes constantly. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! Any other platform is easier than this one. WHAT A WASTE and SO FRUSTRATING!
Hello guys, i used yesterday wix shoutout service, and their stats showed me that i had 21 clicks, but today i opened my google analitycs and saw a nmber of 6 users yesterday, and i doubt that theese users came from the shoutout because geographycaly i didnt send emails at that area.
Thank you.
Terrible customer service through emails and cannot reach a live person. Tricked me into double billing for a site and hen swiped money contrIbUted to a charity event I had set up. STAY AWAY!
Creating the website was simple and easy. When I bought the premium plan to have my own domain and gain more traction towards my website, I was really annoyed. Once you buy the plan, they have a bunch of hidden stuff that you also need to buy in order to grow your website. You have to pay an extra $5.00 a month to have your website searchable on google. The 50,000 emails per month that they say you get is on you to do it. You have to MANUALLY send 50,000 emails if you're capable of doing that. They don't do anything big for you besides give you your own domain. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME CREATING A WEBSITE HERE.
You set up a "free website" and then get your bulky domain name. Can't complain at all; it was free! Then you see the conveniently placed button to "purchase a new domain name" directly from the site. You click on the link as you would, of course, be much happier with the name that you entered as your id in the first place, and you are linked directly to the page to purchase your desired domain name. You go through all the steps and purchase the domain name and then click back on the "link your domain name" button on the wix website. You are told for the first time that you have to "upgrade" your plan in order to link your own domain name, meaning at least 8+ per month to do so. So your "free website" is no longer free. You've been SCAMMED out of 33,75 for the domain name which you now have no use for. You write the customer service (as if they don't know of the scam) and after two days they give you the canned response about user plans and domain names. You try to call (it's Thursday) but they are closed until the following Tuesday. I guess it's not a crime if you can get away with it! BEWARE!
DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE TO MAKE ANY WEBSITE
My story may be different from the rest or similar but Wix is the biggest scamming website maker on this internet. If you want to create a website it's nice and all but then to legitimise it you need a domain. They make you pay for the domain for $33 then you have to pay an extra $12.50 PER MONTH to actually connect your domain to your website. AND if you want to have emails don't worry they'll charge you a load of extra money. Take it from me your better off creating your website on Notepad. Even though I spent 3 months creating the website and for 3 days buying a domain off GoDaddy there is no way to connect the domain to Wix and on top of that their is absolutely no way to contact any representative from Wix without wasting your telephone credit. REFUNDS ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THE DOMAIN. Even if the website took an extreme toll on your mental health. Awful website, awful people who made this. Thanks for nothing!
Do they refund auto renewal money? I want to know. I paid INR 5000 for auto renewal. I have requestefd with in 30 minutes of renewal debit from my account. Hoping for them to to be honet and refund it.
Hoping for the best.

I was a "Wix Partner" for several years which meant that if you contacted Wix needing help designing your website, I would be one of the people they would recommend. Well that's how it worked in the early days. Wix partners had to be proficient on the platform, answer customer inquiries quickly and be sure to stay up on the latest in their training. In return we received... nothing. Literally nothing, no discounts, no free plans, nothing.
After doing this for 3 years, I stopped being a free WIX employee. I found that they started charging my clients (and myself) for rudimentary parts of the website that had always been part of the plan fee, on top of raising the base prices. Almost everything was becoming alá carte. Finally I started moving my clients off of WIX and over to Squarespace, where they could save money and have more for their dollar. WIX was out for money at all costs, customer service be damned.
I had built over 300 websites for customers on WIX, I had 15 different websites of my own. Recently I went back to get my domains and content I pay for it and guess what? WIX won't allow me access to it. I pay for it sure, they just won't let me get to it. They literally said "We will not restore your access." That's all, no explanation.
Because I stopped bringing in business? So what? They didn't pay me. I wasn't given discounts. I worked for them for free so in exchange they garnish my intellectual property?
If you think this is the worst WIX does, you're wrong. They can and will steal your designs. They are absolutely ruthless. They are truly a terrible company on every level.
I tried to buy the mail through Wix with my domain, they charge me with the whole year without saying that the email just has 30 gb of storage, which don't help ANYONE, I was open to do an upgrade, and guess what?, ITS IMPOSSIBLE, they cant do it, so they send my info to google, I'm still waiting on a refound that its never arriving.
After all of this i had to buy a new domain and pay to have an email directly with google, i changed my email on WIX, and then when i finally tried to do the upgrade to a business account, they say that i cant get the discount because the account belonged to another mail,. I said thats a problem of them, and told me to go ahead paid everything AGAIN, and they will do a refound of this too.
Which i know from what already happen will not happen
I Which i have the power, time, or money to recover all the time I spent trying to recover my money.
Answer: There not bad, but they offer really poor customer Service skills. Doesn't matter how long you do business with them the only thing they care about is your money. So if you dont stay 100% on top of things on your end your screwed.

Answer: No no no
Answer: I've been trying them for days now, with no luck! The recording first said, that "due to call volume, i would have to call back when they next opened on Monday (feb 13th!)" which means that they haven't changed their answering message for days! Then I tried this morning, and there is a new recording that saids that they will next be open on Tuesday feb Feb 21st! So. Fuck. Seriously. We can't afford to rebuild our whole site again with another service! And i've/we've had WIX for over 6yrs now..
Answer: Hi, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We'd like to assist you in resolving this error as soon as possible. Please contact us at support@wix.com for further assistance, or call us at 1-800-6000-949.
Answer: One of the things that really bother me with Wix (besides them being so focused on extracting money from their customers that they tend to forget about everything else) is that they make these changes and do not care one bit to inform their customers that they are going to do this, so all of the sudden one has a site that doesn't function and unless one keeps checking daily whether everything still works as it should, one end up having problems. That's one of the reasons why I'm out and do not plan to use them much longer.
Answer: Please don't. It's just a scam to take your money and give no service.
