WatchShop Reviews Summary

The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with some customers expressing satisfaction with their purchases and the quality of products received. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns regarding customer service, including long shipping delays, inadequate support for faulty products, and issues with returns and refunds. Many customers reported feeling frustrated by unresponsive service and a lack of accountability when problems arose. This suggests a need for the company to enhance its customer service practices and address operational inefficiencies to improve overall customer satisfaction and trust.

DREADFUL COMPANY - AVOID
February 29, 2016

I purchased a watch for my son for Xmas. He wore it for only 3 days and did not drop or damage the watch in any way during that time. However an internal chip appeared under the glass. I informed Watch Shop on 31st December. Returned it on 6/1. They still have the watch 2 months later having sent it back for a 'manufacturers report' which I have not seen. They claim that the watch was scratched in a large number of places which must mean that this was the case when it arrived. Sadly I did not inspect it that carefully before wrapping it for Xmas. Most frustrating is that they have told me that I must pay £13 to repair the glass, a small price for them to pay to keep a customer happy yet they refuse point blank to repair the watch. Just the fact that they have kept it for so long warrants a full refund. Do not use this company, their After Sales Service is diabolical.

I ordered a watch on 29th January 2016 and it was returned because the alarm was incredibly quiet and also, I just wanted a refund. They received it back on January 6th and despite their website stating all refunds are dealt with straight away up at worst 7 days, I never received one. I emailed, phoned, left messages on their bulletin board - ALL of which were ignored and NONE were ever replied to. I phoned yesterday (18th February 2016) and eventually got somebody who didn't fob me off who contacted the returns department supervisor (who I had previously asked to speak to - but he was at lunch at 14:45 in the afternoon!) and after THREE weeks, got my refund in full - I will never use them again.

I purchased a watch from Watchshop early in December (not a cheap watch, it was £250). A day after it arrived I noticed it had a fault so I contacted them and they told me to return it, which I did. I then had to chase them for about 2 weeks until they finally said they could not repair the watch (not that I expected them to be able to) and that they would return the watch to Casio. I told them this was not acceptable and that they must either supply me with a new, replacement watch, or give me a full refund, because consumer law is quite clear. They flatly refused. No matter how many emails I sent (and also calling them), they will not comply with the law.

After about 5 weeks they informed me that Casio needed to source some spare parts, but they did not know how long that would be. Again, I requested a new watch or a refund, and again they flatly refused. At this point I contacted my bank and requested a Visa charge-back to be placed on the transaction. A week later Watchshop finally agreed to comply with the law, i. E. only after Visa became involved. I have also contacted Casio directly and asked them to consider not supplying Watchshop.

From start to finish it has it has taken over 2 months to get this matter resolved.

This company is the worse company I have ever had to deal with. They ignore consumer law and I can only assume they just laugh when they receive complaints. Hopefully Visa will take some action against them.

Ordered a watch for Wife Birthday thinking a head I placed order 2 weeks before, ordered on a Friday Night was told delivery would be one day, only to be told by Royal Mail it me Delivered on Tuesday, so Tuesday we stay at home waiting then get a message that the watch had been delivered, Me now really concerned as I have not received the Watch, I Phone Customer services tell them that the watch is missing, their replay is they will contact Royal mail and get back to me in less than 48hrs via a phone Call, Now Monday still no phone call so I guess I'm phoning them back! Only to be then told that we need to fill a claim form out before I can ether get my Watch or my refund claiming it can take 30 days! Hang on WTF 30 days Yes its on the Terms and conditions so they claim, I looked and it doesn't say 30 days its says refund or redelivery after confirmed by Delivery company that item is lost so now ive got to wait up to 30 days more for a watch that was meant for my wife in a few days Time! So if you want a watch go to a real shop where you know your actually receive it. Oh and I bet if you call them and ask to speak to the manager the answer will be no Manager available!

I bought a watch at the end of November for a Christmas present and it arrived scratched. I had to spend over a month arguing with them that they should replace or refund it. I had to get the consumer ombudsman involved as I was treated very unfairly. Christmas came and went and they eventually did refund me but I did not need those arguments and stress! They send stuff quickly but if anything is wrong with your watch, prepare to fight!

Ripoff
January 7, 2016

I foolishly bought a watch from this company instead of using a local watch shop. The watch they sent me developed a fault within 12 days of my receiving it. Their so called support is absolutely useless and they have done nothing to fix the watch as they say they can't find details of my purchase on their computers despite me providing the information of the sale and statements from my bank which show the payment to their company. My advice is if you want to buy a watch use a local watchmaker instead of using this company as all you will receive from them is faulty goods followed by nothing but excuses! Absolutely useless company and thieves, stay well away!

Ordered a men's watch for bday next week. Was sent ladies watch. Phoned up to complain and was told it was the men's watch but eventually conceded they had made a mistake. Now have to go to Post Office to send back and go into local city to buy it as they don't have it in stock. V disappointing - won't use again.

Ordered a ladies limit watch from watchshop unbelievable bad/poor service.
1) took 5 days to arrive at click and collect store and they advertise no longer than 48 hrs maximum.
2) When I went to pick it up at the store the wrong watch was sent, a sekonda not the limit watch I had ordered.
The manager of the store rung watchshop who said they would send a replacement within 24 hrs
3) No watch arrived 24 hrs later, rung Watchshop again who promised would send it straight away.
4) Today 23rd Dec no watch sent to click and collect store rung again to be told they would send it today with no guarantee would arrive the 24th, so cancelled order.
I HOPE THIS COMPANY GOES BUST AS THEY SHOULD DO, as the cutsomer care is woeful, when you ring they haven't a clue what it happening.
Avoid like the plague!

Inept
December 18, 2015

Ordered a watch as a present and received an email today from Royalmail to say that parcel received and will be delivered today. Had a further email 2 minutes later saying "could not make out deliver address from label and item returned to sender" contacted watchshop and offered tracking number that confirmed the watch is being returned and asked if they could send a further watch out. They said they couldn't until they had received the watch. I explained that it was their label that wasnt clear and that was the reason the item was being returned- they said I had to wait then I could have a refund or another item- I asked if they could guarantee I would receive it before Christmas- they said it depended on when they get it back. Moral of the story- went on Amazon and the item is £40 cheaper- even with guaranteed next day delivery I am still £33 better of. Will not use these clowns again.

Bought my girlfriend a watch. There was a problem with the strap. Within 3 weeks the leather had all turned black. I tried to return it with their 30 days returns policy. Had to wait for them to post me a returns package so missed the 30 days deadline. They then fought me every step of the way. It was a really stressful experience where they blamed my girlfriend and kept saying the same line "we define straps as consumable goods" which means nothing to me. They made me pay for a new strap. Now I'm going to take them to county court.

Save yourselves the bother - just buy it from the high street.

I purchased a Seiko watch in Jan this year from the Reading outlet. In August the stop watch function failed; Watch Shop sent in back to Seiko for repair, which took over 2 weeks. In late September it failed again, exactly like the previous time. I returned to Watch Shop, and pointed out that the watch was not of merchantable quality as it had failed twice in 2 months, and I wanted a replacement. They refused, and said watch had to go back to Seiko for inspection - another 2 weeks or more! I e-mailed complaints dept, to receive a reply couched in 'legalese' and refusing to help. When I get the watch back, I will have been without it for over a month in less than a year's ownership. Moral - they will sell you something with a smile, then wash their hands of it when it goes wrong.

Bad customer service
October 7, 2015

So watchshop rave about there delivery times. I ordered my watch on a Friday, didn't turn up til the following Thursday. They stated on their website that I'll have it on the Monday. Phone customer services up on the Tuesday and they said I'll received it the next day(no apology), which I didn't. I sent them a couple of emails with my concern, didn't get a reply, so had to phone up. Poor customer service and won't be buying off them in the future, unfortunately for them I buy a lot of watches.

Stay away from watchshop!
September 29, 2015

I bought a watch for my son last Christmas and after a few days it lost time and then stopped completely. I sent it back and it was gone for over 4 weeks returned saying nothing was wrong with it. Yet again after a few days it did the same and sent back again only to be told after another 4 weeks there is nothing wrong with it. They have just told me for the third time that there is nothing wrong and they will return it immediately. All their communication has been impersonal and they do not show any customer care. As it is under warranty I said I wanted the watch replacing as there very clearly is a fault. I will never use this site again and my son has yet to use his christmas present.

Appalling company
September 9, 2015

Appalling after sales, refuse to let you speak to supervisor or manager to complain, and try to make out you haven't paid for new battery when you have and would not return watch. Only relented when threatened with legal action.
2 months to replace battery which ran out after just a few months on an expensive divers watch.
Read reviews on some of the smaller sites like cylex if you want to know how bad this company is.
Do not trust 5 star reviews on main sites, very suspicious and may be being written by representatives from company as a cover up.
This company has some serious issues. Avoid like plague and go to a reputable high street retailer instead. You have been warned.

Be aware
August 2, 2015

I ordered a watch from this company because they offer to adjust the metal bracelet for you before despatch. I did not want the hassle of finding somewhere locally to adjust it for me.

The watch was sent quickly but the bracelet had not been adjusted. The customer services department offered to pay £5 if I sent a receipt for having the watch adjusted. However, I wanted to return the watch at their cost and have them send the item I had ordered, i. E. a watch with the bracelet adjusted. They refused simply saying it was a free service and they accepted no responsibility for it not being done.

So don't be fooled like I was. Their website says:
"We adjust your watch bracelet for FREE. Metal bracelet adjustments normally mean a trip to the local jeweller but with our free watch bracelet adjustment you can wear your watch as soon as you receive it." However in my experience they don't bother fulfilling that part of the agreement. So lesson learned - there are many places to buy watches on the internet and don't select this company simply because they offer to adjust the bracelet for you. When they don't bother you either have to return the item at your cost or find somewhere to adjust the bracelet (which for me negates the whole point of using watch shop in the first place!).

Go elsewhere!
July 13, 2015

I bought a Swatch skin from the Watchshop. After a couple of weeks I noticed it was losing a few minutes over a 36/48 hour period. I sent it back to be told by customer service that they'd tested it and it was perfect. It isn't. They offered to send it to the manufacturer for further testing. I'm afraid I don't trust them on this.
I'll contact the manufacturer myself... by the way, they refused to give me the manufacturer's contact details!
Don't deal with the Watchshop. If there is a problem they're dreadful
