Kroger and their dishonest business practice is running Vitacost into the ground.
Absolutely piss poor customer service.
Dishonest coupon offers!
Disgraceful operation.
You are better off getting your supplements at any other supplement provider.
Vitacost since Kroger is no longer what it used to be. SHAME!
I have tried five times to call Vitacost customer service about an issue with an order and after holding on long times (average of 20 minutes and being told countless times that how a customer service rep would be with me right away), I got disconnected each time before reaching anyone! I tried live chat three times during open chat hours and never could get anyone to even come onto the chat. I have emailed (3 days back) and gotten no reply as yet. I will not order again from this company.
I gave two not one star because I was for the part satisfied with products and availability of items on previous orders. But this current issue, which involves the use of effective, current coupon codes has caused the loss of significant discounts due me.
I had been a loyal customer for 10+ years. Over the last few years, I've noted that customer service has gone downhill, but out of loyalty, kept going back assuming that they'd struggling with staffing issues as so many companies did during the pandemic. But things there never got better. Recently I contacted them after they sent an item that was unsealed during shipping and leaked everywhere - and had clearly been unsealed when it was packed because it smelled noticeably rancid. They demanded pictures, which I sent. And then there was no response at all. Nothing. No refund. No email. No apology. No explanation. I won't be shopping there ever again and absolutely cannot recommend them to anyone.
Despite some initial hesitation (eg. Higher overseas delivery fees to Asia where I am based, not heard about them before etc), I decided to bite the bullet and purchase some shampoo in my first order with them. I was excited to receive the package but this quickly turned into disappointment after opening it. The shampoo's cap got damaged in-transit and liquid had leaked onto the rest of my order (which was luckily wrapped in plastic). Not knowing what to expect, I contacted their customer service team, and was delighted by their professional & prompt response (ie. A sincere apology and immediate "no questions asked" full refund for the shampoo). They turned a potentially negative experience into a "positive one" for me - I look forward to ordering from them in the future!
Having found that Now Mangoes were about 3/4 sugar consisting of added sugar as well as natural, customer service refunded entire cost without asking to return. Codes can be additive so made up for carrying product for me by selling 3 boxes of pom/blueberry/pistachio/antioxidant Kind bars, 1 of maple/pecan/sea salt & threw in free gift of a box with a code at a sum less than $53. Ships free over $49 (& $25/their brand), if memory serves! Other retailers charged about $16.50/box for what cost about $10/box.
I am very puzzled by the 1 star, extremely negative reviews. I've ordered supplements and natural beauty supplies for many years from this company and have never experienced the problems listed. In Nov, for example, I called Vitacost after waiting 3 days for updated tracking information. The customer service rep told me a Fedex truck broke down and she replaced the entire order which arrived at my door in 2 days. No store is perfect, and sometimes I've received products I didn't like, but I am usually very satisfied with the selection, competitive pricing, shipping time and helpful customer service people.
I've been buying from Vitacost for a number of years now. I am gluten-free. In my last sizable order, I purchased 10 lbs of flour, I thought was gluten-free. It was not. This was clearly MY mistake, that I owned. Nevertheless, as a one time special consideration, they refunded my money, AND had me keep the flour. Essentially that was $40.00 worth of consideration! What other company does that? PLUS my packages arrived in ONE day... with the most considerate packaging I've ever seen. Bottled hand soaps, liquids, & items in paper bags & boxes (like flour or starches) were also placed in re-useable sealed plastic bags, to eliminate the possibility of loss/mess/seepage. Those bags were not flimsy but extremely durable & functional to insure the safety of the product contained. Those are Great Business Practices. Mighty Impressive!
I have had Vitacost.com on my radar for quite some time and hesitated to place an order due to all the negative reviews here, and the fact that they use OnTrac for deliveries (horrible experience with OnTrac in the past).
Late last week (Friday), I ordered a supplement, taking advantage of their low price, free shipping (met the $49 criterion) and 10% new customer discount. Well, my order arrived yesterday (Monday). The items arrived, all factory-sealed, and in perfect condition. The expiration date on each bottle confirms that the contents are from a recent batch. I set up alerts on my credit card account and the charge that Vitacost submitted was accurate. I won't need to interface with their customer service department for this order so I have no comment on them.
I've been purchasing vitamins, herbal tea, honey and beauty products from Vitacost for years and have found the service to be consistently excellent. The only complaint I have is about me (which is why I gave the site 5 stars!) You get free shipping with a $49 purchase, so sometimes I buy products I don't need or that disagree with my tummy. Vitacost will refund your money if the product is returned within 30 days (even after being used) but sometimes the return shipping cost is as much as the product. So I need to just order what I know works and pay the $4.99 shipping cost! (bangs head) The prices are also very competitive and often half the price for the same product sold in a local health food store.
I wrote the company an email asking for non-plastic packaging for two glass bottles of sunflower oil. What I got was enough plastic to make a pair of arm floaties, thanks to two big squares of double-ply foam. I have purchased this product before and it was wrapped very well in paper and cardboard. Not only can sustainable packaging do the trick, but it must. On top of everything, although the bottles said refrigerate after opening, they were both sent with large cold packs. This kind of overkill, ecologically speaking, kills.
Excellent selection of special diet items I need. Always available at a discounted price. They send frequent percentage off offers to those on their email list. It has saved me hundreds of dollars by ordering in bulk at prices as much as 50% off (after their low prices) and free shipping over $49..
Anyone who uses organic, non-GMO, and gluten free products will find a gold-mine of these on this website. Of course, there are other offerings -- all focused on healthy living. I am a very savvy shopper and have found products on this site that I've never found elsewhere -- online or in the stores in my city. My severe diet limitations and organic, non-GMO preferences make it very difficult to find what I need. In addition, I can order in larger quantities and get great savings. Delivery is, more often than not, next day or two days later. I am not usually so enthusiastic about a site, but this one deserves all five stars.
I have been ordering from this company for many years! They have the best PRICES, and quality vitamins. You can find almost any vitamin other stores offer. Free shipping if you spend at least $50.00. Shipping is always fast too. I highly recommend Vitacost!
Vitacost is the BOMB!
They are way better than Amazon. Ever since I found out Amazon's fulfillment centers have the highest rate of suicides due to their horrible work conditions & extremely low pay, I've looked elsewhere to get my sundries.
Vitacost packs my items with care. All glass bottles are wrapped in a plastic bag then insulation. And everything is intact & as ordered.
Best part of all, their prices are great & I've been meaning to thank them for a long time. I saw the negative reviews that are just hateful & almost fabricated & decided to share my positive experiences.
Vitacost is no scam, they are a legit business who does good for the customer.
I came to give a review because I saw that reviews were so low here. Vitacost has been a life-saver for me during all the shutdowns and local shortages of the past two years. I just placed my third order in three weeks. They have much better prices and more selections that I want than my local natural foods co-op, like the range of Fody products that they have. When I ordered three 32 oz. Bottles of organic carrot-orange juice last December and one broke, I simply sent customer service an email, and Vitacost refunded the price within a few days. I am very happy using Vitacost!
Vitacost was purchased by Kroger[?] and has been going downhill ever since. If you are a beginning vitamin/ mineral/herb 'user' show elsewhere... I' ve been a customer since 2012 but that is soon coming to an end.
Vitacost>The worst customer service ever
The worst customer service ever! Ordered 7 large jars of zoup bone broth. Arrived on doorstep( fed ex) in soaked, smashed up carton.
Immediately called vitacost. Was told my order didn't exist on their site; Then magically appeared with a tracking # from USPS (the tracking number went to Texas. I am in Georgia.) The heavily accented woman gave me a fake tracking number! Each time I try writing to customer service: I am told" no such order exists!" I have the receipt in front of me with that exact order#.
Today spoke to another "agent" whom I could barely understand. She informed me she is caribbean
( arrogantly) I am out $53 and realize
Ceo Jeffrey J. Horowitz keeps prices down by hiring non American rude agents!
What an absolute mess!
I have been using Vitacost for years and save a ton of money. If you open an account they will give you 20% off your first order of food, then after about every month or so they will email you with a code to get 20% off your order again provided your order is $50 with free shipping. Amazon sells a lot of food from independent sellers who charge a arm and a leg over what it should be. Lily's Dark baking chips (sugar free) for instance, an Amazon seller charging $14.99 for ONE package, VitaCost $5.39 after their 20% discount. Now that's saving money and there's many other instances on saving money with Vitacost.
Are their shipping customer service problems with VitaCost - on occasion, yes, but I've always been able to have them solved and with their immense discounts its well worth it.
I placed an order on 11/23 confirmation # *******. It arrived several days later with no invoice and missing item #MRM - **************. It also included two orders of Tom's toothpaste in error. I have since attempted to speak with a customer service rep by both email and several phone calls. Today's call wait was 31 minutes with no response. My last call was to request a call back which has not occurred. I am extremely disappointed given I was referred by another Vitacost customer and I made prior purchases since being referred. Quick ordering and payment processing in place but not so in getting help. I hope this has not happened to you. I would not refer a friend or family member at this time!
I've purchased from Vitacost for years & always been happy with their pricing & customer service. I've had a few problems with items being damaged due to poor packing but the latest issue has made me decide to shop elsewhere. I received items near expiration date & items crushed. Was told refund would be processed within 72 hours & was not requested to return items. A month later & reporting to them several times that I didn't receive refund, they have now denied my refund & are requesting photos of items I have discarded. Shame on you Vitacost. You have lost a loyal shopper.
Beware of ordering canned food items! I ordered 26 cans of Eden organic beans. Nine or about one-third of the cans had a large dent across the seams which compromises food safety. Three more with small dents, but not affecting the top, bottom or side seams, So, I called asking for nine replacements, which Vitacost sent. Of course, three of the replacements were also badly dented on seams, Goodness! Either they don't know how to handle/pack their products or their delivery service is careless with packages. Just decided to forego the bad cans and not go through this again. Won't order from them again.
Answer: Yes they sell brand names and reputable products. They may not sell everything though depending on what you're looking for. I couldn't find the product I wanted anywhere other than through Vitacost so I was quite impressed.
Answer: Can't see it online, only on actual product if ordered
Answer: They sell the reputable Thorne brand recommended by wiser MD's and not available in vitamin shops, retail pharmacies or food stores
Answer: There is a money-back guarantee on all of the products they sell. Often, you will be given a refund without even having to return a product. They really are the best in the business when it comes to customer satisfaction.
Vitacost has a rating of 1.7 stars from 419 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Vitacost most frequently mention customer service, credit card and long time. Vitacost ranks 518th among Vitamins & Supplements sites.
