I've ordered from Vitacost every once in a while across the span of the past 2 years and often there were items that arrived damaged. The company advertises a flexible return policy and so I contacted their customer support each time there were damaged products. Their support staff treated me like a swindler.
They didn't improve the manner in which they package items at the warehouse, because damaged product deliveries continued after I raised my concerns.
They maintained their flexible return policy in this time, yet I was treated like a second-rate shopper.
Aim to deliver intact items or stop antagonizing customers who expect you will follow through.
Never had a problem with vitacost after years of ordering from them. But now they just don't care about their customers any longer. Had a package delayed then said it was delivered. Called fedex said they marked it delivered by accident after I looked everywhere in the neighborhood without success. After they did deliver it my products were frozen and damaged. Tried contacting vitacost through chat and phone numerous times for a refund or replacement and numerous times I was hung up on after waiting hours for them to respond. Never got any solution for the problem. Looks like I am now a ex vitacost customer. Shameful that they are using long time loyal customers with such disrespect. They are no longer worth me spending my money with them. They are not that cheap anyway. GOODBYE VITACOST!
I've recently placed 2 orders with Vitacost. The first order resulted in them sending me the wrong product, so I have 3 huge boxes of product to return, but no meaningful response from customer service. The second order has been completely cancelled by Vitacost (? Due to not having the product they advertised), and I've now received at least 50 emails telling me that they are not sending me anything. This company should be out of business.
Vitacost is very, very bad on customer service. Ordered several jars of honey. Two came broken and leaked over entire order. Spent an hour cleaning up the mess and another hour trying to reach customer service. They offered me a small refund on an $80 order for their bad packing job. Never buying from this poorly run company again.
In the many years of ordering from this company,I've only had a few problems,which were handles promptly online.And I order at least once a month,usually twice. I simply cannot believe these bad reviews as I've never experienced such as these reviews claim. Great company that I trust completely.
Before placing an order, had my daughter check the order page to make sure everything looked good. Once I got the email and checked it, I saw that the order was going to old address. I called immediately, they would not change the address because they said I could only cancel the order within 15 minutes. Sorry, your loss. I will never order from this company again. They used to provide good customer service, not anymore. Steer clear!
Update: picked up package from current tenant. Shipping was fast and items were correct. Removed old address from account.permantly.
UPDATE: Vitacost did ship my order, finally, after my request to cancel it altogether. The message explained that there is customarily a "hold" placed on the credit card that does not reflect the order total; in this case, they charged me the higher amount anyway, then issued the discount (NOT the way a hold works). Sketchy business practices.
Good luck getting email or chat to connect. I phoned, and the agent was pleasant but completely unequipped to execute corrections to the order, or to make anything right, really.
1. Promised discount showed up in my cart when I placed the order, but was not reflected in my credit card charge.
2. No way to communicate the issue except by phone, which didn't fix anything.
3. There is now no record of my order at all in my account. No order, no shipment, no tracking. Only the charge on my card.
ETA: You can try their email at *******@vitacost.com, because their website form does not connect. I did get an automated response.
I switched to buy from this company recently and am very happy with their service, price, and speed of shipping out my order. There is one item that the formula has changed and they still carry the old picture of the item on their website which was misleading. I asked for a refund and it was refunded to me in 3 days. My email to them was answered right away. Will continue to buy them this company despite the shipping cost is a bit higher than the previous company I bought from but overall their product prices are lower and customer service is definitely better.
I would like this vendor EXCEPT they drive you crazy with email solicitations and say it takes them 3 weeks to remove you from their list. Aside that it has been over that, they have no unsubscribe function which violates email standards and good sense. I will never use them again--it really is harassment.
I've ordered from this company for about 20 years and shipping has always been rather quick. I had always received my items within 3 or 4 days, now it's a week or more. Also, since Kroger has taken ownership, you have to watch the expiration dates on the products. I've received some items that were past or close to the expiration date.
I bought many natural facial products in one order from Vitacost, hoping they were as good as described and as in many reviews. However, I was very disappointed. They smelled a rancid smell when I put them on my face, which indicated that they already expired long time ago. What a waste of money! I switched to other merchants.
I have been purchasing from Vitacost for years and years. I have always purchased my Alive Whole Food Energizer vitamins from them because of their fast shipping and low prices. I have never had a problem with the customer service it has always been great! But the last supply I received tasted very different and smelled different. Like I said I KNOW what these vitamins taste and smell like because I have been taking them for years! So I called Natures Way and she told me nothing had changed in the ingredients so which leads me to think these vitamins were old or not stored properly. I'm only buying from my local vitamin shop from now on and have some peace of mind. None the less Vitacost refunded my money no questions asked. I just wont be using them anymore. Id rather pay the extra money and know what I'm getting.
Talked to three different reps, even a "supervisor" - ALL, said "there is nothing we can do" and "we don't understand why this is happening" and "we are dealing with a number of these". Well - this happened to me TWICE. 9/22 and 1/23...so how is this not a thing? Then - they give me the number to Kroger, and tell me that they will just send me back to Vitacost. Cool, great - customer NO service. Thanks for wasting my time and apparently you don't want my $$$.

I had planned on placing an order with this company but decided to check their reviews first before sending them any money. What an eye opener. After seeing all the negative reviews I WILL NOT order from this company. How are they still conducting business? Seems like someone should take the initiative to fine and/or close this company.
I ordered some coconut oil and apple cider vinegar while deployed overseas, and honestly was a little nervous as to what kind of condition they would arrive in. Both arrived safe and sound, even with the boxes all banged up. They did an awesome job wrapping them to ensure that they would arrive safely, and even placed them in plastic bags in case anything were to happen and they were to leak. I would definitely recommend ordering from this website.
The company now does not inform you of an item being out of stock until AFTER you place your order. Then they send an email informing you that they are drop shipping to arrive 9 days later. And then it doesn't show up at all.
It's a rarity these days to find a biz that WANTS TO KNOW if you're happy w/their service, but Vitacost is an exception! Not only do they take great care in how they mail merchandise ordered online, but the one time I had issues with an item being less than perfect... they sent me out a replacement that very day! No questions asked and they didn't ask me to return the damaged good. They just wanted me to be happy and satisfied... which I was! Absolutely useless! My first order with this company took over a month to be delivered. I gave them a second chance as I thought it may of been a one off. The second order was a bit late but not too bad. The third order however was a month overdue. After countless emails and live chats they finally refunded my order. So I had to wait for over 5 weeks for my health products that never came. What a waste of time.
Vitacost has a Canadian website but doesn't tell the customer that the prices are in U.S. dollars. When I wrote them about an unexpected forty dollars in exchange on my Visa card they wrote back and said that under frequently asked questions it says all prices are in US dollars. Yes that info is tucked in there very neatly on a page with a ton of other information and why would I be reading all the frequently asked questions?
Reputable companies inform their customers upfront as to which currency they are purchasing in. What is the purpose of setting up a Canadian website if the currency is the same as the U.S. one. Other websites simply state that they ship to Canada.
Obviously this is a cash grab. They can advertise lower prices to unsuspecting international customers.
Answer: Yes they sell brand names and reputable products. They may not sell everything though depending on what you're looking for. I couldn't find the product I wanted anywhere other than through Vitacost so I was quite impressed.
