Criminal organization. They sold me a non-working computer, knowing full well it didn't work in advance. I ordered it with a warranty. The warranty was magically backordered indefinitely. When I got that email a day before I received it, I already anticipated I'd been defrauded. Do not trust these people. Stay away! Go to newegg for computers or electronics. It's wonderful that they didn't swindle a few reviewers on here for products worth 10 dollars, but I'm down 400. Get it?
Used TigerDirect as 1st time customer. This will be my last time using them. The order included things they didn't have in stock, made us wait weeks for it only to promise us other items they did have in stock, which after another week it wasn't in stock. Now its been 3 weeks and promises and more promises. These guys can't get anything right. In my 15 years owning 4 business, this is the single worst purchasing experience I have ever had. Pay a premium and go elsewhere - my business has lost so much productivity from the horrible decision to use Tiger Direct.
When I buy a new laptop I usually check onsale, newegg and tigerdirect. Then I pick which ever has the lowest price for what I am looking for. Onsale more recently has been the low price leader as I think the other companies have grown so much they have not felt the need to stay competitive on pricing. Definitely worth looking at onsale.
Ordered a bunch of items. Most shipped right away. One item had an 1-3 day shipping estimate. It has now been over a month! Been emailing customer service for over a month. Some reps tell me it's delivered already, some say wait 24-48 hours and they'll get back to me (they do not), and some say it's backordered. They've taken my money and given me a tracking number that is for their drop shipper. Terrible customer service, it's like dealing with children under the age of 5. They can talk, but the reasoning and problem solving skill just are not there. Horrible experience.
I ordered my son an IPOD ITouch when all my usual places where sold out. Onsale.com had the exact one for a competitive price w/free engraving. Exactly what I wanted.
I placed the order LATE Friday evening using express shipping (2-3 day). The item was engraved and shipped by Saturday morning. I received it Monday. INCREDIBLE.
My only complaint was that the engraving was wrong. They printed it half-right, but the rest was gibberish. My son was so happy that he didn't want me to get a replacement, so I cannot attest to the customer service at onsale.com. They do have remarkable turnaround time on orders and have good prices.
They have a good selection of computer parts. The prices are low and their service is excellent. Its too bad that one of their stores closed down, as they move to only online. I prefer them to keep the stores open.
3 days later my order still hasn't been processed. If I had only looked at their competitor first my order would be on my doorstep tomorrow and I would of saved $21.00 and offered free shipping but instead I doubt my Tiger order will be processed by then. You would think the warehouse excuse gets old, but how about this idea, hire someone that can actually run a warehouse.
Update:
I have canceled my order (via Paypal) and saved myself about $50.00 by ordering from a competitor late last night and it's been processed within 12 hours.
In today's marketplace Tiger is an endangered species.
These guys suck! I've purchased electronics and computer systems for years from reputable sites like buy.com and TigerDirect.com and thought i'd give these guys a shot. Biggest mistake I've ever made as far as online purchases goes. This bunch will make you age before your time. They will run you around in circles transferring you from one department to another until you tire and just give up. I have absolutely no use for E-cost and DO NOT recommend them to anyone! The use 3rd party companies to refurbish their computers and they will not stand behind them if something goes wrong. Even their advertisement said one thing and the product I received was another. The components advertised were not what was received! Lesson learned, I hope you don't have to experience it before you agree.
I've ordered numerous things from Tiger Direct and I really like their site! It's very user friendly and I enjoy the fact that they are an Aeroplan partner so I can receive extra perks on every purchase. They have a large range of electronic products and are my go-to store for any of the computer components I need. The shipping speeds are amazing, I'm always impressed when I can receive something to me here in Northern Canada in a week or less from the order date. I've not had a need to return anything yet so I cannot comment on their returns department but any other customer service agents I've corresponded with have been excellent. Overall, I like these guys they're the first place I think of when I need tech gear.
What would I do without you TigerDirect? I would be sans technology-- and miserable. As an openly out shopaholic, technology/fashion fiend, I rely on this website for the best deals on my gadgets. Before nomorerack and all these new sale sites were around, I was buying my futuristic fun on TigerDirect. They have never let me down, they have never let me down and have always provided excellent service. When my Toshiba laptop died within three days of arrival-- they handled everything and I paid nothing. So thank you TigerDirect-- for years upon years of being awesome. Please don't ever change!
TigerDirect was THE website where most of my colleagues and I would order our computer parts. That's to say that the business is quite different from what it once was. Since they have been acquired, it is a pain to find a deal worth actually considering, especially when other online suppliers are faster to ship and have a better deal. The support is also being offered in a lax way. I've gotten two completely unprofessional responses when inquiring about the details of two of their GPUs since their listings are sometimes incomplete.
Order a 135KVA UPS. It was shipped with only stirofoam pieces holding the item. The box was too big for the item. No extra packaging to protect it from damage. It split the UPS in half. I emailed back to TigerDirect about additional packaging because the box was ripped apart. As heavy as it is, it should have been package a lot better, just as if it was brand new. No response. I had to provide pictures of the damage. Its day nine of 4-10 days, no reply about the return packaging issue. Returns take way too long. I am paying interest on that money. New Egg and Amazon does pretty good when they shipped my other UPS's.
Tiger direct is by far and large the single worst company I have ever done business with ever. I purchased a laptop from them in August. In September, the hard drive promptly died. After taking it to a repair person I was informed that this computer was a "refurbished" laptop. Fine, right? Well apparently all the "refurbished" parts were inferior versions of the existing product, making the laptop a ticking time bomb.
But that's not why I'm giving tiger direct a 2 star. I tried to return my laptop to get a replacement, or even just my money back. What that process looked like was this.
Step 1. Go to the website, contact company. Be told that is not something they do.
Step 2. Contact BBB. Exchange lengthy dialog via BBB resulting in tiger direct promising to send me a shipping label to return computer. 2 months after the initial conversation.
Step 3. Not get a label.
So yeah, never buy anything from Tiger Direct.
Purchased 3 laptops for my business on Thursday, paid for expedited 2-Day Air shipping. Checked the order the following Tuesday and the hadn't even processed my payment. I spoke with Christopher, operator #7102 and he doesn't get customer service... at all. I tried to have them sent next day air and he kept re-explaining my problem without apology or solution. After I requested to speak with a supervisor, he placed on a permanent hold. Likely the first and last time I will be buying from them.
I have done business with TigerDirect several times in the past and was pleased with my purchase. Recently, I purchased a battery back-up and power surge protector. It did not work out-of-the-box. I have spent HOURS on the phone trying to get a return label. When I give the customer service representative my phone number, they put me on hold for a long time, come back on the line, then disconnect the call. It's sick. On a side note, I have a very expensive doorstop now. Good luck!
A horrible company. I have been buying from them for over 10 years. My current address and credit card number hasn't changed in 8 of those years. I even placed an order 1 week ago but I placed an order today, Tigerdirect took my money out of my account and when I checked on the shipping status later in the day, it was on hold. They didn't email me, they didn't call me. I had to waste my time and call them. I was furious. They needed to verify my information. Remember, same address and credit card information for 8 years and they needed to verify. If I didn't check on the shipping status my order it would have been on hold for how long? And they took my money? If this only happened once I might think this was an aberration but this is not unusual. It is a regular occurrence. I have spent thousands of my companies money over the years but this is it. I will NEVER buy from these people again. NEVER--EVER!
When I first encountered this website, I was pretty sure it was a scam. At that point, I hadn't heard of Site Jabber, which is too bad because I spent a lot of time doing extensive research on the web about TigerDirect. I was afraid it was a scam because the prices seemed outrageously cheap -- like they were trying to lure me into purchasing something and then never send it.
Well, as it turns out, TigerDirect is in fact a legitimate website, and I received my electronic cables for a pretty insanely cheap price. The website is really user friendly and well crafted. I've gotta give this one 5/5.
Hope this helps.
So far I've built several computer systems with some of the parts from Tiger Direct and I've never had any issues. Shipping times have been good (if it takes 5 days and it's free I don't complain). I just received a new computer case and power supply that were ordered on 1/8 and received 1/13 (free shipping). Whats not to like?
I would give them 5 starts but I don't care for their new return policy which is they no longer offer returns. I've never had to return goods but if I get something that's DOA I want to return it to the seller and not have to hassle with the manufacturer. That is what Tiger Directs policy is now.
You know I have to make sure that past ratings that are love or misdirected on Tiger direct because they rate with me Five stars. There products are name brand priced littlle high but quality makes up for it I purchased a Blu. Advance phone and it works great. Shipped fast Customer service are OK managers or supervisors in the home office are GREAT so if your thinking on purchasing something from them. Do it worry free smiles all the way... Chad
I ordered a USB/Serial adapter which they said they had in stock. A week later it had not shipped so I cancelled the order. Several days later (13 after my initial order) they shipped the product from a warehouse 15 miles from my house. I immediately requested a return authorization number, they never issued one. Customer service reps are very friendly but utterly useless. Do not order from this company. Ever.
