Awful Service, 3 replacement computers, wasted 4 months of time and out of $1300
March 15, 2022

Awful money grubbing company. I've been without a computer for 3 months because internally they produce broken computers and have terrible customer service with their ADATA manufacture. Overall, I've probably made we'll over 30 calls and collectively over 8 hours on the phone with them. I ordered a Xenia laptop which was great at first, but after a week of using it, the screen became distorted and no matter what I did, it did not fix it. I called about 7 times and every time they gave me a different answer and how to return it, whether I needed approval from the manufacturer and more. To top it off, they never followed up with their calls while they constantly told me they would via call or email. It took me a month before they let me send it back and before they wanted pictures of the packaging which I had fortunately saved. I ever took the Xenia laptop beyond my room or even treated it the abuse that typical laptops would weather, but it broke regardless. It took a month before I received a new computer and at first it was fine as well, but I would try to play a standard FPS game (Overwatch) and the screen would suddenly power off. I thought maybe it was the power saving or maybe it needed a hard-reset, but no- nothing I did fixed it. So I had to call everyday over 4 weeks to finally get an answer. At this point I wanted a refund and they said that would be good. I waited 3 business days before calling back (they told me 24 hrs) that my refund had been denied because it was beyond the return date which mind you, expired while the first computer that broke was in transit to be replaced. The lady then had the audacity to say I should have read the fine print and I told her that I didn't expect their computer to break on me twice and for me to need a third replacement. These two returns occurred between the months of Oct. 20th, 2021 to Feb. 7th, 2022 and I was in my final semester of college without a computer and $1300, so they royally $#*!ed me. Not only were they inconsistent with their communication, but they were rude, never gave me the right directions, made me pay for return shipping the second time (no clue why it was free for the first if this was policy), gave me 3 incorrect phone numbers to the manufacturing company where they said I needed a warranty number and so I had to call the next day to tell them their extension numbers were wrong (while explaining the 2nd replacement because they always confused the first). So, I never got my money back, got a third computer I ended up selling at a huge loss and they were rude to me the entire time, even when I was on the brink of tears with frustration. So do yourself a favor, for the love of God do not purchase from Tiger Direct. They are God awful. Spend your money on a company that values their costumers and won't send them on a wild goose chase for 4 months.

Tip for consumers:

Please don’t, awful company.

Subject: MASTERCARD HELD HOSTAGE AND WHAT AMOUNTS TO A SORT OF FINANCIAL TERRORISM

The following is my letter to the Office of the Attorney General, State of Texas. Criminal "businesses" such as the below named company have found a loop hole in your processes which they essentially use to hold consumer funds hostage. A sort of terrorism if you will:

STATE OF TEXAS OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL: REQUEST TO INVESTIGATE TIGER DIRECT WEBSITE FRAUD

Numerous attempts have be made to cancel item R*******/******* MSI Gaming X Trio GPU. You know you don't have in stock to no avail. Those request have been ignored. Your customer service personnel will even give the customer what can only be described as "the silent treatment" when a customer calls on the phone as illustrated below. In fact, one of your folks is giving me the silent treatment right this very second. This abhorrent behavior will not be tolerated. To that end, I have asked the Attorney General's office of the state of Texas to get involved:

Tiger Direct is a company that "sells" consumer electronics much like Bestbuy. Tiger Direct in no way resembles Bestbuy as a merchant however. This company's activities can only be described as criminal. They lure you in with advertisements on the website for common electronic products they know full well they do not have in stock. In my case, there was pictured a new Nvidia RTX 3070 card at a price of $706.85. There was a big green icon to the right of the advertisement which read, "add to cart." Once you add to the cart you proceed with the purchase. At no time was it displayed that Tiger Direct did not actually have the item available. They deliberately made it look like they had the item available. An excerpt from their email to me supporting this:

"We're pretty speedy when it comes to processing orders so if you need to change anything, give us a quick call at *******437. Keep an eye out for your shipment confirmation…you'll have your order in no time!"

They knew they did not have the item and sent that message to me anyway. Many consumer electronic products are hard to find these days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it has gotten harder to find these common products due to scalpers buying up massive remaining quantities and using electronic bots to get the jump on everyday consumers when a shipment sent to an Amazon, Bestbuy or TigerDirect takes place. The scalpers know about the shipment of the items in short supply then buy them all to sell for a massive profit on Ebay and Amazon. The everyday consumer is left out because of the situation. Ebay and Amazon are happy to sponsor these scalping activities on their websites. The sought after items might not be available on Tiger Direct for 6 months or even a year because of the COVID-19 and scalping situation. Who knows? I have contacted Tiger Direct to cancel the item twice by email so that I might have opportunity to buy the item elsewhere should it become available by some miracle. They have not responded and have not acknowledged the two cancellations request I sent in writing. In effect, holding my money hostage. While the money is still in my checking account, they have obtained authorization to withdraw it should the item become available which I do not see the item becoming available for a very long time given the situation. I no longer want to deal with them since and they don't have it anyway because of their clearly unscrupulous practices. Who knows when they'll ever get the item in light of the scalping bots and COVID-19?

In addition, I've called customer service twice to cancel the order. When you call someone picks up the phone at Tiger Direct customer service but they do not speak a word. You can clearly hear them. The give you the "silent treatment." Occasionally they might sniffle or you can hear paper moving on the desk they are sitting at. So you know they are present on the call. They will not speak a word to the customer however. They know who you are and they know why you are calling in advance because you can be identified by caller id. They know you are calling because they don't have the product and can't provide it. Their aim is to tie up your money for a sale anyway. The first time this happened a person at Tiger Direct picked up the phone and did not even say hello. I was on the call for 45 minutes and the customer service person would not say one word they just sat for 45 minutes playing this little game with the occasional sniffle so that you know someone is on the line. It happened a second time with a second call. I could clearly hear someone on the other end again. I decided to start a computer video game as to not be bored. I also informed the customer service person who was giving me the "silent treatment" I was about to play a game and I was not about to hang up. In other words, I can wait you out unbothered if you want to play this evil little game of yours. I started the computer game and the customer service person then hung up after hearing me being able to make good on my promise to wait them out buy playing a computer game. This will happen every time you call their customer service. Try and cancel an item they don't have by email and they won't acknowledge it. Try to cancel an item by phone and they give you the "silent treatment" like a disgruntled spouse. They do all of this this after luring you in with false advertisement making you think they have an item they know is not in stock. It's a bait-n-switch tactic in the worse possible way. This activity by Tiger Direct in my estimation is criminal. They are in effect holding hostage the money of consumers indefinitely all so that they can ensure a sale for themselves no matter how long that takes. What is really regrettable is that it does not even occur to them if they just play nice they would have customers for life like an Amazon. Your investigation and assistance into this criminal activity is appreciated. Supporting documents attached. Photo of phone is Tiger Direct giving me the silent treatment for 1 hour 46 minutes just sitting there refusing to say anything, not even hello! It went on for 3 hours then they hung up realizing I'm never going blink... LOL!

Will not send a return label or refund for damaged product upon receipt
May 15, 2020

I purchased this gaming monitor online on 04/17/20 and paid extra for 2-day shipping, upon receiving the monitor I hooked it up and it is clearly damaged and will not function. 2 hours after it was dropped off I called and emailed Mariel from the customer service team. She asked for a photo and I sent the below and said she would process the return and that it would take 5-7 days for a return label. I did not hear back from them at all so I contacted them via email on 04-29. Again, no response so I tried again on 05-04 with still no response. I then tried calling the number on the email signature to call my account executive (Which has a different company name "PCM" on the signature) I was given the run around and was told I had to leave messages which were never returned. A couple days later I tried contacting tiger direct customer service again and ended up getting my Account Exec on the phone who told me their phone system and email service has been down and they have not received my messages. She said that PCM owns TigerDirect now and that their systems are being merged so nobody can help me. Mariel (the account exec) then told me I needed to contact Asus and get a return number. I did that and their phone system was down because of the pandemic so I had to explain that it was damaged and not that it was plugged in wrong via a virtual chat. I provided this to Mariel almost 10 days ago and I have still not received a return label or any indication that they are going to refund my money that they have been holding onto for over a month since I originally contacted them. Their management has not and will not return my calls or emails. I now feel that I have been robbed by this company for over $700.00 and I fear I will not ever get my money back. I have purchased from Tiger Direct in the past from their retail stores and I have never had any issues such as these. It is ridiculous that I can only speak to 1 person about my order and they are treating me like I am a business and not a consumer. I can go return something to Best Buy the same day I buy it without this headache. I actually already went to Microcenter and bought the same monitor from them in the store with no issues the same day I received the item from Tiger Direct. I will never do business with Tiger Direct again and I recommend nobody else does either.

Tip for consumers:

Avoid it

I went to Microcenter and bought the same item for cheaper, not damaged, and received it the same day.
