ThredUp's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the selling process and customer service. Many users report feeling misled about item valuations and processing times, leading to frustration over perceived exploitation and lack of transparency. While some customers appreciate the variety of products available for purchase, issues such as delays in shipping, inadequate communication, and poor handling of returns overshadow these positives. Overall, the sentiment leans heavily towards disappointment, prompting many to recommend alternative selling methods and express reluctance to engage further with the company.

I truly like the clothes and am very willing to buy more :)
ThredUP truly has great clothes, a fantastic selection, speedy service, and adorable packaging. But I made two returns and haven't been refunded -- and that was a month ago.
The deals are great and have been satisfied with all that I have brought. Keep up the good work.
I take a look at the site here and there and usually find some great items. It's disappointing when someone else has the item reserved, but there is such a huge selection of items there is likely something else to take it's place.
I love all the things I have received. Always in a timely manner too.
So far I've ordered 5 pair of shorts, 1 shirt and a dress off of ThredUp. The clothes are in good shape and even if the item isn't what you expected, you can return it and the process is easy.
Had to contact customer service about something and they resolved my issue right away. Everything I've received from this site comes nicely shipped and new things are always going up.
Hi, I love the site, love the idea, but getting items back and forth to ThredUp is quite slow or I am just used to sites like Amazon. However, I purchased something from the UK about 5 days ago and also paid no shipping and it has already arrived while Thredup items were purchased last week. Other than that, I love the website and wish you much luck!
I really like all the clothes at Three up, as I said what you see is what you get and that's in positive way! I always get my orders in time and clothes are in perfect condition. You wouldn't even can tell it's second hand and they still have tags. I have been sharing ThredUp to my friends and said they love it! I am very much satisfied with everything and keep it up! More power and a big thumbs up for y'all!
I love the unique finds on the site and how inexpensive everything is.
Easy order and shipped as listed. Wish it shipped a little faster, but it was free so all is good.
I didn't even have a chance to send to sell my clothing. I was very interested in selling and buying. However, I ordered two clean up kits that never arrived. I contacted customer support many times. After they got in touch with me, which was many days later, they provided me with no help. I was informed that both of my orders were lost in transit even though they were weeks apart.
I eventually said that I wanted to cancel my account. To which they replied, Once the package leaves we have no control over what happens.
Are you kidding me? You are a business? The email told me to contact UPS. Um no, you should be doing it not me finding out where my order is.
I have talked to many other people who have said it is not worth it anyway. Glad I stopped interaction with them.
The worst customer service I've ever had.
This is the worst. This company will rip you off. I sent a bag of cloths some were new. Only sold 5 of my items. Had a nice name brand purse in the bag. They did not even try to sell it. I could have made much more money on ebay.
Thred Up makes it so easy to send them your gently used clothing for cash back. They send you a big bag with a prepaid shipping label already on it. The review process can a few weeks but then they tell you how much they'll give you for the clothes. You can get the money in the form of a credit to shop with them or to your PayPal account. My only wish is that they would just send a check. They will donate any clothes they won't accept or return them to you. Shopping is great with them too. Anything I have bought has been top quality and shipped fast. I'm very happy with Thred Up.
I absolutely loved Twice and was so happy with them both as both a buyer and as a seller. I really, REALLY wanted to like Thred Up, but sadly they just do not compare. Thred Up's items are grossly overpriced for used clothing. Banana Republic cardigans that are gently used are listed for $19.99 when I can buy them brand new at the outlet store for the same price. I will only buy from ThredUp if they have deals and even their specials are not as good as Twice's who would offer 30% off deals frequently. Items take forever to ship! Many times the items I have purchased required special laundering details that were not included in the description. I mailed some items to sell that were high end designer and some new with tags. It took months to receive any payout--because apparently they list and sell the items first before they even pay you. Because I made the mistake of indicating that I do not want my items back if rejected, they only paid me $23 for my items. Which buys very little in the store. Items are overpriced, service is slow... even the inventory is not as good as Twice. After I use my meager payout, I will give up on online thrift shopping until a better company comes around.
ThredUp is nothing but a RIP OFF! I sent in 24 items, all in pristine condition, varying from 10 to 400$ in cost. They said they only accepted the 8 cheapest items in my bag and paid me 13$ The amount of money I spent on those clothes totaled over 1500$ DO NOT USE!
I sent 10 designer items to ThredUp... 6 items sold total $86.52. MY CASH PAYOUT WAS ONLY $7.25... Rip Off!
It's a scam go to a real consignment store and get fair prices for your gently used clothing.
Now for buying maybe its okay but to get rid of your clothes to sell them on consignment is not worth it. Last time I checked with consignment shops you have so many days to sell your items after that they give them back. The consignment shop usually take a profit fom whats sold then gives you a portion. I decided to do this to get some money and apparently I only get a upfront payment. Thats BS. I could have gone to a real consignment shop and actually got money. They are a scam I tell you. A scam.
Answer: Don't bother. I got 80 cents for a whole bag of good condition name brand clothes.
Answer: I've actually emailed their customer service to show them how many negative reviews there were on this site and they did not care at all. They just quoted their policies. I'm sure they will go bankrupt soon enough...
Answer: 1% but they trash the expensive stuff (or am not sure what they do with it) and sell the cheap stuff. So i sent 2 bags with over 20 items, and got total 25$. I had antik batik dress, anthropologie clothes, jcrew, christian lacroix, etc. and they trashed the expensive (new condition) brand and listed cheap things. I will not send them stuff again, it was very hurtful.
Answer: Because they essentially steal your clothes and then sell them for a profit. You get hardly any payout, but they gladly take all your clothes and sell them for a big mark up.
Answer: Of course buyers are satisfied. They are getting other peoples' brand-name, like-new clothes that has been stolen by ThredUp. Buying from ThredUp just supports their dishonest and shady business practice.
Answer: I almost always sell on eBay first. Then when I don't feel like hanging on to the clothes any more and just want my closet space back and they have been on eBay for months, I will send to thredUP. I don't even send in that high end of items and I will usually get $16 and up per bag. So to me, it's a last resort, but I usually can expect something even if it's a little. I LOVE thredUP for buying. Use their upfront calculator to see what items they take. They will say 50 cents to 1.00 per item so it is not hidden info. There is always the return option where you can get your entire bag back for $12.99 as well. Everyone who has nice stuff they'd want back should opt for this method always.
Answer: They sent me an email and put the money on my thred up account so I can buy something. I was do disgusted I gave up on the whole thing
Answer: Because I sent in 575.00 worth of clothes and recieved 8.00 in credit, half of them had tags still on them and were high priced items. When I asked for proof why they did not take them in they said they had stains on them. I asked for pics because they were brand new, they squirted water on them and took a pic. It takes a couple months to even get your credit and when you buy womens clothes, half the time I was sent stained or childrens sized clothes, TWICE is a much better company.
Answer: Honestly this company is not choosing to accept a lot of product that could easily be listed. I have sent bags and bags, including valuable pieces... cashmere sweaters, high end items of considerable retail cost and relatively recently produced. When questioned I am given the response that the items were not in as good a shape as they wanted them to be. That their buyers should be able to buy perfect product. My take on this is... if it's a 200 dollar cashmere sweater and the purchase price is under 10 dollars, a few pills on the fabric should be a non issue! Period. I question what is going on, frankly, as many do. Too much disappears with no explanation, many bags go into complete reject status. I genuinely am concerned that there is a story here and may become apparent after a while. Only time will tell.
Answer: Not worth it unless you have stuff priced over $40 and can get 40%. There percentages are ridiculous for lower priced clothes. You can order return assurance for about $12 but be prepared to get a bag back with your items stuffed in like garbage. They do not even take the time to fold things nicely even though you pay for this service.
