ThredUp's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the selling process and customer service. Many users report feeling misled about item valuations and processing times, leading to frustration over perceived exploitation and lack of transparency. While some customers appreciate the variety of products available for purchase, issues such as delays in shipping, inadequate communication, and poor handling of returns overshadow these positives. Overall, the sentiment leans heavily towards disappointment, prompting many to recommend alternative selling methods and express reluctance to engage further with the company.

I like that you don't need to go to a Garage sale or flee market to buy amazing pieces and I like that you can also return it.
It's always fun to get the thred up box in the mail! The items I've gotten have all been in good condition. One item of clothing has an awkward fit, so I may return it. It's the first item I had to return, so I'll see how that goes. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with what I have purchased.
I enjoy ordering from threadUP because it's worry-free shopping! If something arrives and doesn't fit or looks unflattering on me I know I can easily return it for free. I love a great bargain, and there are plenty to be found. Also, they measure each article of clothing which takes the guesswork out of otherwise confusing manufacturer sizing.
ThredUp is easy to use and is a great place to find awesome deals. Items come to you in a pretty box, with thredUp tags, wrapped in tissue paper, packed with care. Items feel new, but at a fraction of the price!
Shopping from ThredUp is like going to all the consignment, thrift and garage sales across the US and picking the best pieces among all the rubbage. I love that they take in the goods and do a generous analysis to decide if the item is sellable and price accordingly. I have never been disappointed with items I've ordered for me or the kids. Find the prices on the kids clothing could be a little better to align with the market, but overall I think the prices are not bad. Will definitely keep shopping here for my family.
Great website shopping experience! Awesome selection, good shipping time. Loved the packaging! I love the clothes. The quality was amazing. I am very happy and already returned for round two!
So I got turned on to Thredup this past Fall and I am now on my 12th pair of awesome shoes that I've ordered from Thredup! I'm definitely hooked! The shoes I've purchased have either said, "looks like new" or "have some wear". To be perfectly honest, even the ones that say "have some wear" look like they were hardly ever worn. In my opinion, Thredup under promises and over delivers with their merchandise every time. I am beyond thrilled each time I receive my aqua box on my doorstep. And I love their "upcycle" concept of reusing the box and the tissue paper. Cheers to promoting "green."
I ordered 2 pairs of wool pants. One pair was exactly what I expected and I love them. The 2nd pair was obviously incorrectly listed as they were far from being "wool" pants band because they were final clearance, I can not return. Not sure I will order again from your website if I can not trust your description as listed...
THIS COMPANY SEEMS LIKE A TOTAL SCAM, I SENT THEM CLOTHES THINKING I COULD MAKE SOME EXTRA CASH BEING A BROKE COLLEGE STUDENT, BUT I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY INFORMATION ABOUT A PAYMENT AND YET ALL MY CLOTHES THAT WERE LISTED SOLD, SO THEY GOT TO MAKE THEIR MONEY, BUT YET I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A SINGLE PENNY!
This company has me mystified... after reading all the negative reviews I decided to proceed anyway (mainly out of curiosity.) I sent in about 150 nice items (absolutely NO damaged/stained/worn looking items) in two HUGE bags. They accepted 7 items and even after two have sold and the others are projected to sell I will be getting a big fat $0. As far as I can tell, the company seems to be preying on just about everyone to get their merchandise, and that just isn't right and it's downright Un-American. I am planning on contacting the Better Business Bureau and I urge everyone else who has been ripped off to do the same. This company is not providing a legitimate service, under any kind of business model. So sad and so wrong...
Overall, I like thredUP, but it's difficult for me to determine how the items will fit based on the photographs provided. Basic measurements are often available, but a couple items I ordered looked form-fitting in the photo, only to arrive and be quite loose/flowy. I still like the items, so I kept them, but I feel the photos could have better reflected the style of the clothes.
Was well pleased with everythingand will be back to order againhave a great day and keep up the good wwork
Especially with a small child:-) I am finding great brands at great prices, and can take care of it all from home and a post office!
I love Thred Up! Shopping couldn't be easier. And the styles and selection couldn't be better. I have purchased casual outfits and cocktail dresse looking like a million dollars for pennies. I tell all my friends about this app.
Items were better then expected and I sold my items so quickly
I called customer service 1x and they were very helpful
This is a great site. You can look st just what you want and the pics and descriptions match perfectly. Love it!
I sent in a huge bag of designer clothes, most of which they rejected ( which is reasonable since I dont expect them to spend time and money listings items they dont believe will yield a return). What I am not okay with is the way they split the proceeds on the accepted goods. In my case out of the 7 items they listed, I was given upfront a paltry $11.00. Then they went on to sell those 7 items pocketing approximately $60.00 more. Basically the split was 16% for me 84% for them. Can anyone say downright rip-off! I was under the impression the $11.00 upfront payment was payment 1, and that I would continue to receive additional monies as my items sold ( the consignment payment). Unfortunately thats not disclosed in the fine print. The upfront payout which is meager is all the money a supplier is given. Alternatively they may not even give you that and instead just put you on consignment. Even with that option you still only get a paltry 16% split. Either way you get hosed. Thredup however will go on to send you emails about how all your clothes are selling so well ( and how they are continuing to get rich off all your hard earned stuff). Once you realize you're not entitled to any of these proceeds, these emails only serve to further aggravate a person that you didn't just list them yourself on ebay in the first place! It would have actually been a great concept had it worked the way I originally envisioned. I mean who wouldn't love watching your stuff and profit balance simultaneously climb! Sadly that is not the deal here at all! Although I do like the sites concept, and I would shop here as a buyer, the ratio split for a prospective seller makes the premise of burning your clothes for fossil fuel a more attractive option than donating them to these shysters so they can grow rich off your hard earned stuff. If your expecting to participate in a fair business arrangement and to actually receive a reasonable split for all your hard earned stuff ( like 50/50 or at minimum 60/40. LOOK ELSEWHERE.
I submitted a very large bag full of good quality items, some never used. It took over a month for them to process the bag. They accepted 30 items and my payout was only $4.95. What bothers me is that they have sent me emails saying 7 of my items have sold. I made about 15 cents per item. Waste of time. I would have felt better donating these items to charity.
Thredup has fun clothing, good prices, fast shipping times and aso - their e-mails are fun and positive. Great to do business with them.
Love thredUP--great selection, great prices, convenient, easy returns. Definitely recommend to friends!
Answer: Don't bother. I got 80 cents for a whole bag of good condition name brand clothes.
Answer: I've actually emailed their customer service to show them how many negative reviews there were on this site and they did not care at all. They just quoted their policies. I'm sure they will go bankrupt soon enough...
Answer: 1% but they trash the expensive stuff (or am not sure what they do with it) and sell the cheap stuff. So i sent 2 bags with over 20 items, and got total 25$. I had antik batik dress, anthropologie clothes, jcrew, christian lacroix, etc. and they trashed the expensive (new condition) brand and listed cheap things. I will not send them stuff again, it was very hurtful.
Answer: Because they essentially steal your clothes and then sell them for a profit. You get hardly any payout, but they gladly take all your clothes and sell them for a big mark up.
Answer: Of course buyers are satisfied. They are getting other peoples' brand-name, like-new clothes that has been stolen by ThredUp. Buying from ThredUp just supports their dishonest and shady business practice.
Answer: I almost always sell on eBay first. Then when I don't feel like hanging on to the clothes any more and just want my closet space back and they have been on eBay for months, I will send to thredUP. I don't even send in that high end of items and I will usually get $16 and up per bag. So to me, it's a last resort, but I usually can expect something even if it's a little. I LOVE thredUP for buying. Use their upfront calculator to see what items they take. They will say 50 cents to 1.00 per item so it is not hidden info. There is always the return option where you can get your entire bag back for $12.99 as well. Everyone who has nice stuff they'd want back should opt for this method always.
Answer: They sent me an email and put the money on my thred up account so I can buy something. I was do disgusted I gave up on the whole thing
Answer: Because I sent in 575.00 worth of clothes and recieved 8.00 in credit, half of them had tags still on them and were high priced items. When I asked for proof why they did not take them in they said they had stains on them. I asked for pics because they were brand new, they squirted water on them and took a pic. It takes a couple months to even get your credit and when you buy womens clothes, half the time I was sent stained or childrens sized clothes, TWICE is a much better company.
Answer: Honestly this company is not choosing to accept a lot of product that could easily be listed. I have sent bags and bags, including valuable pieces... cashmere sweaters, high end items of considerable retail cost and relatively recently produced. When questioned I am given the response that the items were not in as good a shape as they wanted them to be. That their buyers should be able to buy perfect product. My take on this is... if it's a 200 dollar cashmere sweater and the purchase price is under 10 dollars, a few pills on the fabric should be a non issue! Period. I question what is going on, frankly, as many do. Too much disappears with no explanation, many bags go into complete reject status. I genuinely am concerned that there is a story here and may become apparent after a while. Only time will tell.
Answer: Not worth it unless you have stuff priced over $40 and can get 40%. There percentages are ridiculous for lower priced clothes. You can order return assurance for about $12 but be prepared to get a bag back with your items stuffed in like garbage. They do not even take the time to fold things nicely even though you pay for this service.
