I buy a lot fro Target as it is the only large chain store in my area of business. Over the years the prices have risen probably due to the massive fashion marketing and stocking of semi-designer labels. Very over priced I'm always shocked on every single item there in the recent year. Avoided if possible because I already know I can get the same item half the price anywhere else.
Target randomly cancels your online orders without sending you an email to let you know. I have had this happen on multiple occasions. The support center feels "sorry" but cannot do anything about it. I've never had this happen anywhere else.
Online and in store customer service is terrible! After a really bad experience, I filled out the survey they sent asking about my interaction and checked the box saying I wanted to be contacted. They never contacted me about this. But months later I got a letter asking if I lost my red card since I was no longer shopping there. That is the ultimate in corporate greed: can't be bothered to contact an upset customer but you darn well still want my money! I will gladly spend more money elsewhere for items Target sells cheaper at stores that actually appreciate me as a customer!
You know it's not your normal every day novel when a former CIA director endorses the book and its plot is ripped from the pages of today's headlines. In this, his latest book, Joel Rosenberg paints a chilling picture of what the Middle East might look like if current trends continue. With an insider's knowledge and a sizzling pen, Mr. Rosenberg spins a vivid tale of politics, intrigue, deception and betrayal.
I love buying from Target.com, so fast, so easy and free shipping if you're a Red card owner, plus the 5% off. Can't beat that plus their customer service is outstanding! I wish other companies would learn from these guys, they set the bar high. :)
The website's layout and navigation is mediocre. I honestly don't like shopping on the site all that much. The transaction process, however, is easy and straightforward. Would I recommend shopping on here? Yes, I would if you find a good deal.
Regarding my last order experience, the package was delayed by a couple weeks with no apology or reasoning from Target. I only found out because I called in to ask for an ETA.
The user experience on Target is good, but still could be more streamlined. I usually only shop on the site to see new items in stock, and check if my local store has it available for pickup. I will say though, shopping in store invites way more "extra" purchases. Oops!
A friend likes some of the craft items at Target, so since I work right next door to an Urban Target, I'd get what she wanted. Out of her list of about 15 I found one item. They seem to discontinue items after they sell out and don't replace them with a similar product. I noticed that in other areas-no restocking. Just empty shelves.
A step up from walmart but still not great. The store has some good deals and can be a decent experience depending on your location. I am big on customer service and store cleanliness.
Hopefully you do not get your credit card stolen :P (Definitely not their fault as it was a much bigger issue, but still a fun news article that got blown out of proportion)
The better Walmart. Nothing in this site tends to stick out (which is why I gave it an average score). It's your typical department store website; order products online, find stores near you, see what stores near you have in stock, etc. But just because nothing sticks out doesn't make it bad. It's exactly what you'd expect it to be, and reliable as well. I've never had an order through target.com go wrong or become troublesome. It's Target in website form.
The high rating is for my experiences shopping from their website. I've had great success ordering an air purifier and a window air conditioner online. As for the store, for years I have frequently shopped at one out of convenience. Most of the clerks who check me out are okay, but I've been overcharged at least once and let it go. I also don't like or understand the fact that they don't thank me for shopping there after I've checked out. I usually go ahead and say "thank you" anyway because it's such a habit.
Right first of all "the online chat" is useless, whom do they get to do this, obviously from my experience a bunch of frightened $#*! that can't deal with customers whom they initially pissed off. I have spoke to no fewer than 6 of target's employees who can't make a decision to do a poo let alone take care of a customer. Calling them on the phone is less painful but these people have no clue as to how much time they waste. What a bunch of wasters. And they won't improve either! Stay away!
Ok, first of all, is there a way to filter by items that are available at a store? If there is, I haven't seen it and have been annoyed MANY times. Sometimes I don't have time to wait for an item to be shipped, so I want to know what the store inventory looks like! Speaking of shipping, I once ordered a bunch of x-mas gifts around the middle of November. Sometime mid December I get an e-mail saying 1/2 of my order is back ordered and won't be delivered until late January, do I still want the rest of my order? NO! Cancel everything, I'll do my shopping on amazon. Not happy with this site, although I do love the store.
This company is the perfect example of how not to fo e-commerce. They did a "free global shipping" recently, people wasted their time ordering products and finally they just cancelled most of the orders with no explanation. I will never waste time entering their website.
I adore shopping at Target when visiting their stores. But my online experience is almost always, not great. Things load slowly, everything is sold out, or only available in store. I wish they would get the "only available in store" and "no longer available" items off the website, or give them their own section on the site, as they're a distraction and make slogging through a shopping experience frustrating. The site also seem to always have hiccups, password difficulty and crashed at least once when I am shopping. So I would give my in store experiences an A+ and my online experiences a D. I dread going over to the website to order things. Sometimes orders have not been screened well before shipping them out and the clothing items smell like they have been worn. The bathing suit collection is often too trashy, wish they would work on that. But the clothing from other departments and selection is great. I love the accessories department, particularly the jewelry and handbags.
Ordered a vacuum online at Target.com Wednesday to be delivered to my daughter who lives in another city. The online form said it would be "arriving by Saturday, Sept. 25." That was acceptable to me, so I ordered it. Today I received an email stating it would arrive either Tuesday, Sept. 28 or likely, Wednesday, Sept. 29, - both dates when my daughter's likely working and will not be home to receive the UPS delivery. This increases the likelihood it will be nicked. What annoys me most is the old bait and switch. Target tells me it'll be delivered Saturday and gets me to buy it from them when I could have paid $6 more and bought it through Amazon and definitely had it by Saturday. Target's customer service agent Nick tells me nothing can be done. Really? Well I'm hoping more potential Target shoppers see this negative review and decide against shopping at Target.com. I won't be duped again!
Unless they've drastically upgraded their site in past few days, I would not recommend anyone to plan to find their way around it easily. It's a mishmash of products, organised in weird and incomprehensible ways. I went on target.com, looking for a hat. A HAT, and ended up sifting through about 20 pages of bathing suits, belts and shoes... since they were red too. See what I mean about the weird organisation?
I've never understood this store. They market themselves as a 'discount' type chain such as Walmart, yet over charge for everything! Their furniture is extremely expensive considering the poor quality and the fact again they are a "discount" store. Their shoes are literally made of the cheapest possible materials. They also have a no makeup return policy which is illegal in the US! Not really sure how they're getting away with that. BUT their supermarket sections are priced comparable to Walmart, so yes in theory they are a discount store. When they see fit.
I would shop Target if they offered free shipping. We own a mom and pop cottages/motel and we do much online shopping for all kinds of business supplies. Targets prices are the same as competitors who ship for free too.
I hate this site. For being such a large corporation you'd think they would have a decent website/online ordering interface. First of all, the site rarely loads correctly. When it does, they tell you they have something in stock, you pay, wait for shipping, and then they email you telling you it's actually not in stock. Yet half the time it is, they basically just cancel your sale for no reason. This has happened more than twice to me. I refuse to buy anything else on Target.com ever again and recommend no one else does either!
Answer: Looks like Target has sent a lot of ringers here to up their ratings in the last few months. Nice try guys but your whole shopping experience is still subpar. To answer this question, IT DEPENDS on where you live and what you order. If you're right next to their warehouse, SURPRISE, it's there in a day and you think they are fantastic. If you live far away, the item is no longer in stock or they are slow to fill it, it could take six weeks. It did for us on a couple of occasions, SO it's the luck of the draw and certainly NOT better than Amazon.

Answer: Be careful. If the item suddenly becomes unavailable that you already paid for you will have to wait 30 days for your refund.
Answer: Sometime from other sites, malware can be picked up to track your internet history. I don't think target's website would carry that!
Answer: I'm sorry. I ordered a lot from target.com and never had a problembefore, but when I finally did have a problem... hours and days on the phone. One of the service techs put me on hold for 30 minutes. Another put me on hold for 15 minutes and then hung up. Horrible.
Answer: I was unable to purchase a prepaid phone card with my gift card. This fact was not disclosed in the product description so I found out at the checkout when it was too late. Now am stuck with the useless gift card. I am very disappointed in Target shopping and will never buy anything from them ever again. I do not recommend Target shopping to anyone. Spare yourself some aggravation and shop elsewhere. Enough said.
Target has a rating of 2.2 stars from 1,742 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Target most frequently mention customer service, gift card and online order. Target ranks 7th among Department Store sites.
