There was an error on their site and I immediately told them I didn't place an order. They ignored the message, and ended up shipping me an item for hundreds of dollars. This is already really poor execution, but then they wouldn't even send me a shipping label to send it back. You'll see a case in BBB about this. They're just washing their hands of it. Hard to believe this kind of thing goes on in America these days. Buy from somewhere else, frankly anywhere else.
The website is simple & intuitive & I really like being able to see all email communications between the involved parties. Makes for excellent transparency. The men & women of Swappa appear to be very particular about what & how a product is advertised & that's a huge sales point for the consumer. I have recommended them to many others.
If Swappa didn't exist, it would have been necessary to invent it. I've sold two iPhones so far, and both sold within about 20 minutes of being listed. I bought a new phone listed as unlocked and mint condition, and when it arrived, it was in -- take a breath -- unlocked and mint condition, exactly as described.
I just wish a version of Swappa existed for computers and computer parts, which would get me off eBay completely. You can still find honest sellers and buyers on eBay, but they're mixed in with all the thieves and scoundrels. Swappa so far seems to attract only honest participants.
I've used Swappa for quite some time now and with the exception of one time which was resolved by the staff its been a great experience. I find purchasing phones on Swappa to be a better experience than using sites like eBay for phones.
When I buy or sell from Swappa their tight structure provides confidence for me and the other party to get immediate answers from the staff themselves if needed. This is easier for me than Craigslist and easier than spending twice as much with Carriers
I just purchased my 3rd slightly used smartphone from Swappa over the past 2 years, and they are the only way I will buy a phone anymore. They screen all listed phones so you don't have to guess if the phone is stolen or available for use on your network, and there's always a great selection to choose from. I'm and IT guy and I've personally recommended Swappa to many friends and family, and anyone else who will listen.
The website is very clean and organized. I found what I wanted for a good price, had it shipped to me earlier than expected, and the device was in perfect condition! I've already recommended it to other people and use it to help them find new devices!
Have been using Swappa for a few years now. I've never had any complaints with the site, and every transaction I've done has gone smoothly. Swappa staff is helpful and quick to resolve any issues. Would recommend anyone in the used phone market to use the site.
It was a real pleasure and painless transaction. I'd never heard of Swappa until an employee of mine told me to check it out, and now I'll use them going forward for any phone needs! Great prices, super fast shipping, and a real pleasure to work with.
I purchased a phone via Swappa last year and just recently found out the phone was not paid off.
Beware when purchasing on Swappa, their IMEI check/approval process does not guarantee the phone is paid off. Buy on Swappa at your own risk.
Here is their response:
"Unfortunately the status of ESN/IMEI change over time. While we do provide best effort to prevent these kind of issue we can only act on the information available at the time of approval. This delay in release of information is an issue with how the cellular carriers release this information. We would ask that you share your dismay with them over their disclosure practices."
Pretty much a nice way to tell me to f*** off. I will not purchase phones on Swappa again.
It was a good experience. Bought 3 items from 2 sellers. There was a delay on one order but that was due to the Post Office delivering it to the wrong address. Website could be a little more user friendly. The other seller had some shipping issues but Swappa was helpful in getting it resolved.
Swappa is absolutely fantastic I've bought my last 8 phones and tablets on the site and will never go back to eBay. It's also a great place to sell since it's flat fee + paypal.
If you are buying or selling a used phone/tablet or smartwatch, use Swappa.
The site has been a good place to sell items in the past. I bought through the site for the first time. There was a minor issue with the product which the seller and I worked out, but Swappa staff let us know they wanted to make sure both parties were happy in the end.
This was my 3rd iPhone from Swappa and could not have asked for a better experience. Best prices and good support from staff as well as sellers. Would recommend to anyone looking to save some bucks on newish/new devices.
I've sold a couple of phones on Swappa and just last week purchased one, and all three experiences have been simple and painless. The $10 fee for selling, no fee for buying, and the large number of phones listed make this a very useful site for finding a phone in great condition for a fair amount less than buying new. Highly recommended.
I love using Swappa, it is easier / safer to buy phones & gadgets via swappa than eBay or craigslist.
As a buyer I feel the Swappa staff has my interests in mind and make sure any issues are resolved fairly and quickly.
I will only buy from Swappa as I feel it is the most trust worthy source for reliable phones / tablets.
Swappa makes it easy to get decent devices at affordable costs. The persons (sellers, buyers and sraff) on board are real people and they make you want to do business with them.
So far I've bought 5 devices from the site and each transaction went well.
I recommend Swappa to most of my friends and family looking to upgrade their gadgets and even they are not disappointed.
Keep it up.
I bought 3 phones over a 3 month period -- Swappa staff were very helpful, sales were smooth, everything was well done. I don't understand the bad reviews outnumbering the good -- I had no problems of any sort.
At first it was the best thing since sliced bread. A kid in the candy store. Then the reality, not for free, you must pay will Robinson
Then the evil queen and big brother took down all my info and money. At the last moment I was saved by kombo c and awarded the moto x pe, 2015. For a fair price and enough left over money to feed Google, Cricket and Mrs Robinson. Oh yeah.
Seriously, kombo c, Swappa and PayPal all were pros, good deal
This transaction was great. Seller provided excellent communication, shipped item promptly and well package. Item was exactly as described. Minor issue with iCloud account being locked, but quickly resolved by Seller. Swappa, Great site and service! Thanks.

Answer: Hi Peggy. If you receive a device that is not as advertised then you can return it for a refund. Our policy is that simple. Swappa staff works hard to prevent problems from happening, and PayPal has extensive buyer protections in case they do. Buy with confidence. Thanks for using Swappa.
Answer: Hi Alfred, Swappa requires all users to provide the ESN number for each device when creating a listing as a verification step. For more questions, please email our support team - help@swappa.com Thanks!
Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
Swappa has a rating of 3.6 stars from 3,176 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Swappa most frequently mention great experience, new phone and mint condition. Swappa ranks 5th among Marketplace sites.
