It really doesn't get worse than Swap.com. These people are criminals and liars. They DESTROYED items I sent in, items I trusted them with. And they claim they 'lost' some of my items from another box. What do you mean lost?! I don't know what the heck goes on in their building but it's shady. The items I've bought are hit or miss. Sometimes I get stuff that's ok, other stuff I get is broken, and generally not as advertised. They're horrible liars and I would never trust sending your possessions in to them.
I ordered an item 14 days ago. It shipped out right away. Everything seemed fine until the tracking information stopped just days into the process. I contacted customer service. 2 days waiting and still no reply concerning my item, if it's on the way, lost, or what. I am definitely not happy right now. If someone asked me about this site I would NOT recommend it at this time. Hoping to receive my item...
I have made several purchases from them over the course of a year. Very few items I return. Since I know my favorite brand and the size I wear in that brand, buying is easier than going to a retail store. The selections are amazing and quality is fantastic. Obviously, the description tells you the items condition so you can enlarge the photo and judge for yourself. I have sent articles to them that were in great shape only for them to be rejected. Currently, I am unsure if utilizing this option is feasible. If it comes down to it, my clothes could be sold elsewhere or it may be easier just to donate them locally. (It's like beauty is in the eye of the beholder kinda thing.) None the less, my purchases have been magnificent. I believe in their honest integrity to eliminate waste and provide quality clothes at a reasonable price. Check them out so you can make an intelligent decision just as we all do for so many things. Thank you.
I sent in a box of clothing several months ago, and while many of the items have sold, I have yet to receive a cent! Every sale has a high "surcharge" deducted from the proceeds, meaning that Swap somehow ends up keeping all of the money. Ridiculous! I haven't gotten a penny from this site. Stay away and sell somewhere else. Or donate your items -- you'll be better off.
Hello,
We apologize you have had a frustrating experience in selling on our site. In our Terms of Service we outline our fees, as we want to ensure our sellers know up front how to best package their box. Included in our "Help" center is our Acceptance Criteria by category, which helps you to create the "perfect" box. If you decide to work with us in the future, we would be more than happy to take the time to walk through any questions you have regarding the fees, so we can work to eliminate those. This partnership allows for those of us to be successful!
Sincerely,
Swap.com
My first experience with Swap.com was, to be honest, terrible. There was a huge shipping delay and it took a month or two to ship, and when it finally arrived, some items were wrong. I decided to give Swap.com a second chance, since they have amazing prices! This time, I'm pleasantly surprised! I bought $50 worth of clothes and unfortunately one of my items got refunded, but I'm glad they refunded it instead of just sending me a similar shirt and thinking I wouldn't be able to tell the difference like last time. Everything else, though, came perfect! The clothes don't particularly smell pleasant, just a bit like a factory, which is to be expected. It took about 10 days to process and once they shipped it, it came in a week. I am so glad I decided to give Swap.com a second chance! Though, I will be wary of buying from them if they have another shipping delay.
I've spent about $500 on Swap in the last year. I have upgraded my wardrobe and get lots of compliments and it was dirt cheap on Swap. Brands like Brooks Brothers, Hugo Boss, and Hickey Freeman. I have had returns in almost every order and Swap came through every time, no matter the reason. I've had a few technical glitches with the site, but nothing that did me any harm. Shipping is slow, but that saves me money, so no problem.
Recently Swap changed payment options and will not pay unless payout exceeds $10. Someone figured out that with many payouts under $10, Swap could use that money. Used to be so easy with PayPal.
Though I was hoping they would become a company I would want to do business with again, it's just another change that is poorly thought out.
Not waiting anymore... I'm so done.
Hello Betsy,
Thank you for your review of your recent selling experience. Not accepted items are processed onto your account first, and other items are added within 5 business days. Therefore, your rejection percentage is due to change to the actual percentage once all of your items are processed. However, we apologize for any confusion regarding this process.
If you have any further questions, please, email assistance@swap.com.
Thank you for selling with Swap.com!
I've been shopping here for a few months and have generally been satisfied. Some of the items are way overpriced for a consignment shop but we occasionally find really good deals and receive the items within a week or so. My last order was placed over a week ago and after inquiring about the UPS shipping info today I've been told that the order hasn't even shipped yet and won't for several more days so I'm a bit disappointed with their service recently.
My husband just purchased me an Ann Taylor loft skirt from swap.com and I absolutely love it! It looks and fits the same as a new one! The only difference is he paid less than $10 for it instead of $70(the original price). I will definitely tell all my friends about this site because I love it!
If you want to order from somewhere that gives you shipping dates before purchase that change to a month later after, sends incorrect sizes often, and cancels some items you purchased a month later, by all means good luck. This company has went straight into the sewer. Would not recommend to anyone. The other companies like swap are way better and are reliable.
Have bought items three or four times now... have only had to return a few items, and the return process was easy. Was reimbursed for the item once they received it, or "store credit" once when a dress was "too long". Love the way you can search for only things in the size you are looking for. And, not nearly as expensive as buying brand new clothing! It's the "thrift shop" without having to look through the racks! LOL! Will probably buy more from them!
Don't send your things to sell on swap.com. They take months to post your items. You will get almost nothing for your stuff. I sent two large boxes of designer women's clothing and brand name children's clothing in great condition and got less than five dollars for everything. What a rip off! You're better off donating your items to charity.
Hello Ashley,
We sincerely apologize that you have been disappointed in the seller turnaround and results you have seen. We are very sorry that it took awhile to add your items. We received a significant amount of seller inbound boxes, due to new sellers engaging with us. To ensure we could catch up with the workload we had, we closed inbounds on March 30, so we could get caught up with our backlog.
Our seller model outlines the seller fees for sending in product, and those fees are not charged up front. Those fees will come out of your sales, and once the fees are paid, you will start to earn on the clothing that sells.
If there are specific details we can look into for you, please reach out to us via email at assistance@swap.com or via phone at 630-296-0146.
Sincerely,
Swap.com
I have bought numerous high quality items from Swap. Their prices have went up though, so it may be best to wait until there is a sale or check for 'new with tag' items. Even buying items at regular price can be a steal based on the brand and material. I recently bought a wool Patagonia sweater for $8.00. It would have easily been $75-$100 if bought new.
I have a 5 yr old and he isn't picky so it's easy for me to save money shopping for him on this site since they have a $3-$5 dollar category and they have the clothes separated by category. Shopping woman's bottoms is horrible though because I'm picky and most things don't say the leg type or rise. I've sent many things there and haven't any problems with the few things that have been rejected from time to time (which has been an average of maybe 1 thing per the many boxes I have sent). I don't know why other people are having tons of rejects but the rules are simple, no stains or rips and clean items basically. The value you get back isn't that great but I figure with what I save on what I buy it evens things out and I don't have lug things that are too small or no longer played with somewhere when I can just send it all away.
Besides the fact it takes MONTHS for them to process the boxes they received, I am rather happy with their service. I get 2 payouts a month and they are decent. They do price things weird sometimes and get brands wrong on occasion but overall I have been happy with the small stream of income trickling in every month form them. Hope they start taking inbound shipments again!
If I could rate zero stars I would. I have ordered in the past and to this day have never received any package. My aunt recently ordered from them and of course she has waited over a month and still nothing. I also want to point out that every review on their site appears to be fake. Not one single review is negative. This company is criminal and needs to be shut down.
I have been buying and selling on Swap for awhile. BEST online place to buy and sell by far! They make it so easy to send in items to sell. The buying process is equally easy. Plus if you don't like something, just ship it back. I have had to do that and it went very smoothly. That doesn't happen with every site. I highly recommend Swap! I have made over $200 selling clothes and shoes. I intend to keep using SWAP. So much easier than ebay or any of the other places i have tried.
I sent a box of nice clothing and at least 4 pairs of never worn Jessica Simpson shoes. 1 pair was rejected, yet I NEVER wore them. I sold a few items, and I knew there was the 11.40 fee and the 30% they take and 1.50 per item, yet they still charged some other additional fee's, so I ended up with a payout of 0. Ad its never really told to you what they "additional " fee is. Don't sell here. They take what they want and say it doesn't meet their standards, then if you want the items back you have to pay shipping fee's. And even when you sell and it looks like your getting a payout, they take it. Unreal how this scam was not shut down yet? Can't anything be done. They are stealing and finding a way to get away with it. 2 big boxes of items I sent months ago... and I sold thing and still made 0. What a JOKE!
I have sold to Thredup for a few years and made over 1,000. I tried swap because they take more items. I sent a full box of quality items (I am not new to the process so I didn't send poor quality) and I received negative 21.90! I owe them money. IF all of my items sell I will make a whole 10 cents. I am not using this site again. Buying might be fine but please consider other options for selling!
I am still waiting for my payment for the items that Swap.com sold to other customers on their website. It has been over 6 months of waiting and there is always some story as to why I have not received the money. Also, if you are not on top of this, they are not going to follow up with you. They do not send consignment checks. They (supposedly) deposit the money into your PayPal account. As I said, I am still waiting, despite numerous emails to a "Kelly" in Customer Service. I think Swap.com is basically a veiled scam. Better to consign your items locally. Much less of a hassle, you will make more money doing it locally, and you will actually receive a physical check. Honestly, I feel like I threw away some beautiful clothing of my daughter's. So sad. Do not use this website to consign!
Answer: I have only placed one order so far. I ordered 10 blouses. I returned 5, due to size issues. All 10 blouses were nice, but 5 did not fit quite right due to different manufacturer's. You need to get an RMA # for returns. I was promptly refunded my money for the 5 blouses. I would order again in the future. I am not aware of any return quantity restrictions. Hope this helps.
Answer: If you want to sell clothes, all the information is on their website. Basically, they get a percentage and then they pay you thru an existing PayPal account that you set up.
Answer: Hi Patricia, We are on about a 55-60 day delay in processing inbound shipments. When your items are processed, you will be notified via email that they are ready to be priced. Have you sent an email to our support team at assistance@swap.com yet? A member of our team can look up your account information and give you a better idea of exact when you can expect to see your items. Thank you, Lauren Swap.com Support Manager
Answer: Same here, I sent a box in June and have received nothing nothing saying it was accepted or rejected absolutely nothing. I've sent 5 emails and nothing. I will be contacting the better business bureau as well.
Answer: I don't think so. I've sold and from my experience it varies. The things that I thought would sell first, haven't sold yet. It varies by what people are looking for at the time. I've bought all different seasons at random times. I buy by what's a great deal. When selling, group like items together. I've noticed multiple things sell first.
Answer: Hi Jo, That is correct. You can return items that do not fit as long as you request the return within 30 days. We will send you a pre-paid UPS shipping label to send back your return free of charge. Once the return is received, we will refund your card within five (5) business days. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at assistance@swap.com. We are happy to help! Best, Matt
Answer: There's no way for them to go over prices. They have to see the items and determine from going over it, if it's acceptable, once it's accepted, then you have to determine the price you want to sell it for. You could try searching on their site for similar items and see what they are priced at. I did notice when pricing my items that I'd get a little notice with recommended prices, which was very helpful. I didn't have a good experience selling but many others have. Make sure you take pictures of your items, that's very important. I appreciated that their site is set up to allow you to take back your items if you changed your mind about selling them. I'm in the process of getting back my items. Hopefully it works out well and I get all my items back.
