Great for kids clothes
October 8, 2016

So far I've ordered 3 times, each time a relatively large order. I ordered uniforms for my 3 kids for about 65$. I got each of them pants, a sweater, a skirt, a jumper and a polo shirt. 65$ would barely cover one kid if I'd had to buy them new, and I was able to get most of the items new and like new. I've bought all of our winter gear from swap.com and been overall pretty pleased with what I've gotten. I got very nice higher end and name brand items for less than shopping at walmart, plus I feel better about giving my money to a smaller company over a major corporation. My only gripe really would be quality classifications. Swap.com is very clear that they don't sell items that are stained or have holes, but I paid 4-6$ for sweaters listed in good condition that were actually extremely faded from washing, and the pictures don't always reflect signs of wear accurately. I was a little miffed about a few of the items that came in being considerably more worn than the pictures show, but overall, I've saved a ton of money, and I'm giving older clothes new life rather than wasting resources buying new.

I'm sending a box of clothes in soon, and I expect it will take some time processing. As a veteran of selling online, I understand how long it really takes to create each listing. I could spend around 8 hours for maybe 10 listings, between taking photos and writing the descriptions. It's a lot of work, and I don't really have that kind of time anymore. I can only imagine how much work these people are putting in with the volume of boxes they've been getting. I think the company is still in the early stages of development, and appears to be growing rapidly, so I can imagine they are probably experiencing quite a bit of chaos. I'm seeing a lot of unsatisfied sellers, which makes me a bit wary, but I'm optimistic about this company, so fingers crossed!

I guess if you consider having 2 to 4 items out of two large boxes accepted for selling, as a good thing, and you may like it. I have used swap now for a couple years to buy things for my son he was a toddler. From that standpoint it has been great because the clothes are affordable. I have even had luck with the return process when somethings were not as described. However, I tried selling with them for the first time last month. I realize they get a lot of items, but I was absolutely shocked at what they chose to return and what they chose to keep. Additionally some of the items that they kept had been worn maybe once, or even brand-new just without tags, and they listed them as "fair". Since you were deducted for the cost of the shipping label as well as the five dollar charge to return your box of items, I will probably end up owing swap money. Very disappointed in the service and may not shop there any longer. I will be looking for another second hand retailer because of this. The customer service has been so so at best. When I emailed asking about the process, I was given no more detailed explanation than what I had received initially. What really got me was they kept some of the items that were the oldest hand me downs, and sent back several very good pairs of shoes and decent clothing. They give you an option to donate the items rather than have them shipped back, and I wonder if once you say to donate the items, they don't keep them and sell them to make a profit. Like I mentioned before, I received many great things from swap, but the selling process has been horrible and completely inconsistent. Done using this service.

Good and bad-
February 7, 2018

I have purchased from Swap.com about 4 times in the last year. There are some excellent values to be had, but buyers should be very careful. There are some tricksy things you need to watch out for!
1. Look at clothing with the largest magnification you can. Descriptions don't always note accurately what degree of wear an article of clothing might have. For example, I purchased a Calvin Klein cardigan that was supposed to be white, but was actually yellowed with age. The tag looked ancient. I don't buy anything used that is not listed in at least "good" condition. This was disappointing.
2. Watch for price changes once you add items to your cart. I just placed an order and was shocked to see three items DOUBLED in price once I put them in my cart. I don't see why this happened- there was no lightning deal or announcement of special pricing with a limited time to buy. Fortunately, there was a note of the price increase and I was able to delete these before finalizing my purchase.
3. Often there are multiples of the same item in the same size with different pricing. Be sure to check for the lowest price before buying.
I sold one box of clothing to swap. The return was not worth the hassle. I sent only items in very good or new/like new condition and got about $25 for about 12-15 items. They rejected a few things and volunteered to mail them back to me at my expense or to donate them or "dispose" of them at no cost. I made about $2 per item on like-new name brand sneakers, an adidas sports bra with tags on, etc.

It is not all bad though, as I have found some very nice items on swap at fair prices. I got a beautiful black Dressbarn dress for $8, a denim jacket that I love for about $10, and many other worthwhile things. I will not sell with swap again, but I will continue to shop, carefully!

Hello Lorel,

Thank you for your review of your shopping experience! Prices may change for items if the items were included in a promotion or flash sale, which can end. However, we will always notify you if the price of an item changes. There may also me multiples of the same item, listed at different times by sellers. The price may vary depending on the season, or how long the item has been listed. However, we will notify you of a similar item for a lesser price, in the item description.

We would also love to hear more from you about your selling experience! Swap.com is always looking to improve our processes. Please, send any suggestions to assistance@swap.com.

Thank you for your business!

I have sent boxes and boxes of clothing in like new or new with tags condition - where did they all go? Disappeared into thin air, being picked at amongst their staff - an absolute scam and I will never send them any clothing again. It's nothing short of theft. For all the boxes I sent in, my reward was a choice of $19.25 in store credit, which this amount NEVER changed despite the further sales of the few clothes they did put up and that sold. Where were these funds going and why are you even bothering to tell me when none of what I have ever sent you guys is going to benefit me. I am sending in clothing for two reasons it seems - to add to their personal closets and to make them money.

What is really criminal is their BS excuses about over filling boxes and the $10 fine you get for this, plus the $10 fine for items they "reject" and then the $10 shipping charge. So you are already owing them $30 every time you send them a box? OMG never again! Go ahead Swap.com, steal my clothing, rip me and other sellers off and make a bunch of money from scamming sellers. Sooner or later you guys are going to have a class action lawsuit on your hands that will take it all back and then some. You think I don't know what I put in my boxes that I sent to you and the value and the expensive stuff that disappeared. I am on to your game and I am sure other people will realize this too. DONATE your clothing if you don't like to list your own items on line. Get a tax write off. It will go to a good cause. I recently spent my entire $19.25 in store credit, if I had taken it in cash then I would still be owing money to these fools. I better at least receive two decent items for all the crap you have gotten from me. Absolute crooks!

This site used to be OK... It was better than just throwing my sons outgrown clothes away or donating to strangers (so it seemed) But now I have a much different opinion.

First of all - my time is worth much much more than the time of carefully washing, folding, printing a label, packing into a box... mailing... and waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. MONTHS for them to finally price your items (rejecting 1/3 of them as Ive heard from former employees that they actually KEEP the rejected items and later pick through those to also re-sell) Ive had a lot of things Ive sent in be rejected that I KNEW were in great condition because Id carefully washed/folded/inspected every single thing Id sent in! In addition, Ive purchased from their site and of the few things I bought, 2 actually had holes and were absolutely not good condition. I was amazed, as I knew Id had much better condition clothes be rejected by them - and yet I received such poor condition clothes and was only offered a store credit for the return.

By the time all was said and done I realized that their false advertisement of average box yields $125 was an absolute bogus claim.

Regardless, I have one more box waiting to be processed with their company. I used to love their site but like the many other reviews I just read, sadly, this will be my last box. Ive already just begun donating boxes of higher value items to my sons school because Id rather the kids get the stuff (even brand new Nike sneakers etc) than receive $1.50 and basically be donating to swap.com

My time is worth more than the time it takes helping to make swap.com $$$.

Hello Tazo,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent selling experience. Although our processing time has increased, we are catching up quickly after hiring more team members. If any of your items are not priced, please, email assistance@swap.com, and we will price them for you immediately.

The individual who posted about Swap.com keeping profits for rejected items posted false information. Rejected items are available for viewing on your account in the 'Ship items to me' section of your account for 14 days after processing. You can either donate the items, or ship them back to yourself within this period. Reasons for the not accepted items are listed in the item description of the bundle of items. After 14 days, Swap.com sends the items to a recycling center.

We can also double check and look into up to 20 not accepted items per inbound if you email the Item ID (located in the item description of the not accepted item) to assistance@swap.com.

We look forward to hearing from you!

F*ing Criminal
June 6, 2018

They will outright steal your clothes. I've sent in a few boxes and there's 1/3 of clothes that just magically "disappears." I keep a manual list, as well as photos, of all the clothes I send in. The workers there just take whichever items they like. Most of the "missing" clothes tended to be the new clothes, with tags on them.

Then, the stuff they don't steal, they list them incorrectly. Many are brand NEW WITH TAGS, and it's listed as USED. You can miss the tag. Even the photos they took showed the tags.

Even if they don't steal your clothes, or manage to not mislabel, they sell your clothes for next to nothing. And by next to nothing I mean literally nothing. I've had several items that sold where I received ZERO dollars. WTF?

And the ones where I do receive money, the payout is pathetic. 30c and 75 for some items. Give me a break. They were completely unworn sweaters.

I thought I could make some extra money by sending in my clothes, but this place is a total SCAM. They outright steal your clothes.

Hello Lily,

We apologize for any frustrations you've had in working with us. We want to be sure we address any concerns you have. You may contact our customer service team via email at assistance@swap.com or via phone at 630-296-0146.

Our process is to review each items that is sent in. The items will be accepted and priced, or not accepted. If they are not accepted, you have 14 days to call your items home. If you have items that are truly missing, we would need any details you can provide on type of item, brand, etc, and we would have our Quality Team investigate this and follow up accordingly.

If you have items you have received no commission on, we would like those details so we can review and pay you accordingly.

HARD TO USE DO NOT SELL
November 2, 2015

I am sure that buying is much easier, but I was trying to sell some clothes online and at first it was fine. When I tried to get the money I had rightfully earned by selling those clothes, that was a different story. The earnings that showed up on the website were much higher than the ones that appeared in my PayPal account (around $40) so I was trying to figure out why some of my money had not been transferred. I called PayPal and their representative kindly informed me that the incomplete transactions were an error on Swap's part. Then I sent as many emails as I could and I would've called, except they were too cheap to pay for a call center. The only thing I could do was email their help center and submit a request for my question to be posted on their obsolete and deserted community help center. Then I was told that I had reached Swap "after hours" despite it being the middle of the day, and would be given assistance the next business day. I received another email telling me what I already knew and offering no method of contact to speak to an actual human being. This site has a great concept and great deals BUT THE SERVICE IS ACTUALLY TERRIBLE. SAVE YOURSELF SOMETIME AND GO ELSEWHERE. I hear Etsy.com is pretty good.
