The "charges" are unreasonable. There are charges and fees for everything and they do not itemize or explain. They are very shady. I won't do business with them again.
I ordered for the first time and recently received all of the items I ordered, and I am SO PLEASED! Everything I picked out for my three year old daughter and for my fiancé were in GREAT condition. I will definitely be making another purchase very soon!
Used to be great, now it's the worst iam taking my stuff back,, never selleing any thing again,
And buying is now bad because the prices are too high, I'd rather buy from eBay
Had to file another BBB complaint today and possibly take legal action against them. In December 2017 I sent them a package. They received it and I had to check in with them in January as to if they had received it and how long it would take to process it. This was not provided to me automatically by swap.com. Upon pressing customer service I was told they lost my package. I had to file a BBB complaint because I had proof they received the package from fedex. Swap.com finally located my box and said they would either process it or work on getting me a refund. Nothing happened. Crickets chirped and I pressed again. I was told it would take 60 days to process my box because they were so backed up. Sixty days came and went and the box was not processed. Again, I checked in with Swap.com and they said they were behind and needed more time to process my box. No timelines were given and I had to press again for a date outside of our previous contract. The rep told me 20 days. You guessed it folks. 20 days has come and gone. I started this in December and it is almost April and they STILL have not processed my box as of 3/19/2018. Today I filed another BBB complaint and I am considering police/legal action and contacting the attorney general. Finally got traction on this issue when contacting the attorney general. They promptly sorted the issue, declared the package lost in warehouse on their end and refunded me $100 the same day. Still, it made me sour and I won't use them.
Hello Theresa,
I believe we resolved this issue via our customer service correspondence, however, if you are experiencing any further issues, please contact us by emailing assistance@swap.com. Because your original label had expired, we had to provide you a new label, which was not tied to the account. However, after you provided additional information that you had requested a new label, and did not use the expired tracking label, we were able to locate the tracking of your box, as well as confirm that it is awaiting processing at Swap.com. However, we apologize for any confusion, and have since improved this process as well.
Thank you for selling on Swap.com!
Purchased 3 pairs of men's jeans, 2 new and one like new. Great prices. Top quality jeans from 3 of the top names in jeans, Wrangler, Levi's, and Arizona. Couldn't be happier.
I sent over 15 boxes to them since 2014. Two boxes they didn't take and I worked very hard to get them ready for sending. Then I put some of the stuff they didn't take in a different box with other stuff I never sent them and they took it. There was something I got from them that didn't fit right on me and I put it in a box to send to them and they didn't take it and got it sent back to me and then I sent it a 2nd time back and they took it. I think it is who looks at it at the time they get to your box. They have good stuff and bad stuff. I had some dresses I got that was a womens size M and they thought it was a kids size 8. They are good for kids clothes but to get stuff for me it is not much better. I got a sweater for my son and it said kids L and when I got it home it fit him like a men's L but when my hubby tried it on it fit him like a men's M. Some of the clothes they put in the kids side is really for women and men.
I still use the site but not as much as I did in 2014 to 2016.
I will continue to shop at swap.com since the service is great and i find the hard to find sizes for my grandkids----------------------------------------
I couldn't be more pleased with the clothing, prices, and customer service of Swap.com. Most everything I've purchased has looked practically brand new.
Love swap.com, It has now rivaled Nordstrom and Macy's for great finds of my favorite brands at amazing prices, new with the tags. It's a sale every day!
I've shopped at Swap.com for many years now. Not once when I've return items has there EVER been any problems except this last time. Despite returning all the items I selected to return, two items were marked as "not included in package" and I was not refunded about $20. NO action on the part of customer service was even attempted to see if the items had been mixed up or lost in the return process. I have had some items I bough not included in my packages before, and the facility still managed to track them down and send them to me, so it's clear that finding items is possible, but clearly this case didn't mean much to the customer service representative I emailed. Additionally, this representative couldn't even take the time of day to read my message correctly the first time. I love the clothes at Swap. They're great and having the security of being able to return items is always nice. But this escapade was unbelievable. If you continue to buy from them and make returns, TAKE PHOTO EVIDENCE of all your items before sending them off or return each item SEPARATELY so they don't misplace them somehow. Planning to spend my remaining store credit and leave this site—the clothes are amazing but apparently the facility has gone downhill and savings aren't worth losing $20 for nothing.
I was very please with my order and how fast it came i like that each item is wrap in its own lil bag
I wish I would have listened to all the bad reviews. This is definitely a scam. But y'all won't get over on me again.
I have shopped and sold with swap.com for years. This year I went to send a box in April and the inbound link was gone. When I called they gave the excuse of being bombarded with too many boxes the last time the link was active, this isn't true since they only have a limited amount of labels you can print before that link disappears like it has in previous years. Then I heard about the class action lawsuit... that cant be helping. Now I get daily alerts of new items from Swap and there used to me almost 200 items a day being uploaded, now I see only 1/4 of that. Also when I called 1 1/2 months ago, they told me they were backlogged and only working on the end of March... ok, but if they stopped taking inbound in the middle of April... wouldn't they be running out of boxes and hence the very few uploaded items I see today. And yet the link is still inactive. Something is not right and I am uncomfortable enough that anything that was worth real money I asked for back, and received... but I feel like they are going out of business and they aren't being forthcoming about it. I used to love them... now, I'm cautious to even buy from them and have to make sure I ship anything I buy asap in case they close their doors and my clothes are stuck where I cannot get them.
If you're a seller this place is HORRIBLE. I paid $17.99 to send a huge box of clothes to them to sell. THREE MONTHS later, I get an email that says my stuff is ready and 95% of it was rejected. 92% of the 95% was baby stuff that wasn't ever worn. So they're like, we'll donate it! I paid $11.99 to have it all sent back and when I got it I was LIVID. They rejected stuff because of a piece of lint on the clothing. They rejected three baby's pants because the applique had been folded. They rejected stuff because of a slight fabric discoloration that occurs IN EVERY PIECE OF CLOTHING. When I asked them about it, they told me they have a very rigorous process and it has to be perfect. I'm sorry - you're consignment. Nothing's perfect. It's all second hand. Sometimes third hand. There was a never worn, brand new, Carter's baby furry suit they rejected because one piece of the fur didn't look right. They sent me stuff back with red frown face stickers on the parts they thought were damaged. And then the stuff they accepted... When it sells for $5, I get $2. When it sells for $3, I get 60 cents. When it sells for $4, I get 80 cents. This whole process is an absolute joke and they make a KILLING off the seller's items. They are shady, scammy, and downright awful.
I HAVE DEALT WITH "SWAP.COM" MANY TIMES. I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH THEIR SERVICE OR THEIR MERCHANDISE AND I DEAL WITH THEM FREQUENTLY. CHILDRENS CLOTHING AND TOYS, ARE NEW OR GENTLY USED. THERE ARE ABOUT 5 CATAGORIES TO CHOOSE FROM AND THE PRICES ARE TERRIFIC! IN THIS SLUMPING ECONOMY ITS REALLY A GREAT HELP TO BE ABLE TO GET TOYS AND CLOTHING SO CHEAP. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SPEAK TO A REAL PERSON IF THERE IS A PROBLEM. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT THIS COMPANY. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND IT. GREAT FOR PARENTS ON A BUDGET. CAROLANN AUFIERO
After another phone call to SWAP, they agreed to send payment to my PayPal account for the value of the item as if it was sold. They never located it.
I sent a total of 3 separate boxes within about a 5-6 month time period. The first box had a few rejected items but they sent good pictures of them to see exactly what. The second box I was more careful. Still had a pretty surprising rejection rate after it was processed. The pics they sent this time were hard to make out exactly what was rejected. Just had the stuff in a pile. Before the items were processed, I had sent my 3rd box. Those items were processed about a week ago. Was shocked at the rejection rate. Again, pics of stuff in a pile. Knowing that the final box had a really expensive item, was figuring that once it sold I'd be done. The item was a men's black leather bomber jacket that was practically new. Worn maybe 3 times. It was never added to my items to be sold. It seems to have been lost or maybe stolen. I have made 2 attempts to get a straight answer about the jacket. They are not replying to my emails as they had in the past over other issues. I'm really pissed. I will never buy or sell with them in the future. I suggest you take a few pictures of the stuff you send.
A couple years ago, I wrote a review about my great experience selling with swap.com. Later, I edited that review to drop a star because they seemed to be declining as far as customer service and turnaround time. Now, I'm sad to say that I can no longer recommend swap.com because they're dramatically increasing their fees and it's no longer worth it.
Now it costs a flat $11.90 just to send them a box, and the box size allowed has gotten much smaller. Wait 60+ days. Once they actually look at your box, they might reject most of your items. It depends heavily on which employee sorts them. I've sent in boxes of equal quality every time, and sometimes 95% is accepted, sometimes closer to 40%. Once you get everything posted up for sale, they take 30% PLUS $1.50. So if you want to sell a kid's t-shirt for $3.00, expect to make 60 cents. And you'll never actually see that 60 cents because it gets sucked up with the inbound service fee.
So, basically, if you decide to sell with swap.com, you'll be wasting your time to make pennies. It might be worth it if you're selling expensive items, but probably not because that stuff doesn't sell very well so it will just sit there. And swap.com is now saying they have the right to change the price of your items to whatever they want if they sit on the site too long. So, good luck with that.
It's really a shame, because this site was great for a couple years. Now I'll be participating in my local consignment sale instead, because I can make a lot more that way.
If you are a buyer and have store credit (which is the only thing you can get for returns,) I suggest using it soon, because once sellers catch on to the fact that they can't make any money, they'll stop selling. Then swap.com will have to close and you won't be able to use that credit anymore. I give it a year.
I attached a photo to show you what it looks like when they reject items. They encourage you to "donate" this stuff (to who knows where.) If you request to have it sent back to you, it comes in a big tangled ball.
I don't know why or how this company is still in business. If your going to bother to run a company do it to your fullest. You could make up in volume what you loose in low pricing.
The web site is atrocious. They don't press the clothing that looks like it's been waded up into a ball for the last year. You can not tell what it looks like when it's that bad.
They often have the buttons buttoned in the wrong holes so it's hanging wrong. Thread strings handing down. White clothing on bright white background so you can't see it completely. Often times they don't say what color the item is. We all know every monitor is capable of showing a completely different collor. They never when it is labeled expand on the color as in what shade of green red blue etc. most times when they list the condition of the item it has a big question mark behind it. What? You don't want to say the truith for fear it won't be bought?
If your retail experienced you know what the condition of a garment is. Commit to it.
The photos of the shoes are awful. Two views and neither is of a look front or from the back. That can have effect on the look and style of a shoe entirely.
The fact it can be returned is irrelevant when it's an inconvenience. And these things are fixable. They just aren't. I want to know what I'm buying when I buy it to the best of my ability online. This company with its lack of effort cripples that ability.
I won't be back. Id much rather pay a higher to full price than play a guessing game.
You can't make money being lazy. Hire people to help. You must spend money to make money.
Be prepared to wait FOREVER, months, for delivery and even longer for return refunds. Products themselves are generally good and true to descriptions, sizing can be an issue however.
I used to sing the praises of Swap.com. I told friends and strangers what a great site Swap was. "Great clothes. Great deals." Then Swap had to change platforms to make my shopping experience "more enjoyable." Swap missed that mark by a long shot. Filtering items is not as precise as it used to be. With the new platform, we cannot filter by material type. I am allergic to a lot of synthetic fibers. I am no longer able to specify wool, cotton, silk... in my searches for items. Which means that I am wasting a lot of time looking at clothes that I cannot purchase and wear.
Since the platform change, I have placed 2 orders. The first order was supposed to have two pairs of gray pants. When I got the order, one pair was jet black and the other was navy blue. These were "final sale" items, which means I cannot return them. So now I am stuck with 2 pair of pants that I would not have ordered if the color had been correctly labelled. The pictured items were gray in color. Yet I got black and navy blue -- which are not my colors. What happened to the gray pants?!
The second order I placed had two items missing. Yet my credit card has been charged for the total order of 3 items plus shipping. I have emailed customer service but I have not gotten a reply. Before the platform change, customer service replied to emails. Not anymore.
I honestly cannot recommend Swap with the high praise that I used to. It's sad because Swap used to be a great second hand clothing site. I guess I will have to try my luck with ThredUp. Their prices are not as good as Swap's prices but perhaps I will actually receive the items I ordered and was charged for.
Answer: I have only placed one order so far. I ordered 10 blouses. I returned 5, due to size issues. All 10 blouses were nice, but 5 did not fit quite right due to different manufacturer's. You need to get an RMA # for returns. I was promptly refunded my money for the 5 blouses. I would order again in the future. I am not aware of any return quantity restrictions. Hope this helps.
Answer: If you want to sell clothes, all the information is on their website. Basically, they get a percentage and then they pay you thru an existing PayPal account that you set up.
Answer: Hi Patricia, We are on about a 55-60 day delay in processing inbound shipments. When your items are processed, you will be notified via email that they are ready to be priced. Have you sent an email to our support team at assistance@swap.com yet? A member of our team can look up your account information and give you a better idea of exact when you can expect to see your items. Thank you, Lauren Swap.com Support Manager
Answer: Same here, I sent a box in June and have received nothing nothing saying it was accepted or rejected absolutely nothing. I've sent 5 emails and nothing. I will be contacting the better business bureau as well.
Answer: I don't think so. I've sold and from my experience it varies. The things that I thought would sell first, haven't sold yet. It varies by what people are looking for at the time. I've bought all different seasons at random times. I buy by what's a great deal. When selling, group like items together. I've noticed multiple things sell first.
Answer: Hi Jo, That is correct. You can return items that do not fit as long as you request the return within 30 days. We will send you a pre-paid UPS shipping label to send back your return free of charge. Once the return is received, we will refund your card within five (5) business days. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at assistance@swap.com. We are happy to help! Best, Matt
Answer: There's no way for them to go over prices. They have to see the items and determine from going over it, if it's acceptable, once it's accepted, then you have to determine the price you want to sell it for. You could try searching on their site for similar items and see what they are priced at. I did notice when pricing my items that I'd get a little notice with recommended prices, which was very helpful. I didn't have a good experience selling but many others have. Make sure you take pictures of your items, that's very important. I appreciated that their site is set up to allow you to take back your items if you changed your mind about selling them. I'm in the process of getting back my items. Hopefully it works out well and I get all my items back.
