Don't understand the low scores here

I've always had positive experiences with Spokeo. Not sure why so many here seem dissatisfied. It is possibly because people (including myself) generally tend to think about reviews when they've had a bad experience and if there are no complaints we tend to not think about writing a review.
I have had probably 60% to 70% success with them and that number is considerably much higher when I opt in for the extra searches which cost a bit more but it is worth it to me if the need for that information is greater.
All in all I've had better success with Spokeo then with the other search engines many of which are deceptive.
Spokeo is upfront and I appreciate that. The customer service is also very good.

I often have to look up customers for my business. Spokeo gives me their full name, address & phone number, as well as a whole bunch of other information. It is the most accurate site of this type that I've ever used.

I appreciate having several helpful details all in one place. I am often looking up addresses before mailing things to customers/friends. But also, for my work, when we are trying to contact people who have put the wrong address on their mail or other mistake.

A little pricey

Good site for someone who needs to track people or their background on a regular basis. Pritha, from customer service was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Too expensive to pay when only used a few times a year. There should be weekly plans

Much Info

My very first search turned up a ridiculous amount of information within seconds, homes from the 80's, phone numbers, friends, relatives. I only have the free trial and Spokeo gave me more info than my PAID membership on phonecheckpro. I'm going to run my own name next and check the accuracy.

The best news

The best news - I got all my money back. Thank you, Spokeo.

Previous review was: joined, run searches on well-known to me people - to check if data are correct. Got bogus results for 9 out of 10 people. Cancelled.

Since there is no human involved, the data is not verified and might not be accurate. Moreover, many sources do not refresh their data often. Our Terms of Use states clearly that we are a Search Engine, and do not create, maintain or modify any of the information you see. For this reason, we cannot guarantee full or accurate information for every name, phone number, email address or username you search for, as the results vary so much from person to person. We are only as good as our sources, and our engineers are working hard on new algorithms to improve our data accuracy. I do apologize again for the inconvenience.

Watch your back!

Got the result I wanted quickly & efficiently. (only one search needed)
**** BUT then my credit card was hit with a monthly subscription that I never asked for or wanted.
Had to contact customer service to get it reversed. (which they did with no problem)
Seems to be the usual practice to sign everybody up as soon as your 1st search is done.
I thought Wells Fargo was sued for $$$ Millions for that kind of business practice.

Excellent service
January 21, 2022

Spokeo was extremely helpful in checking out home health care help for my wife. Information received gave us piece of mind, after a previous bad experience with a worker. Their customer service representative was extremely helpful and very courteous when I requested that my account be closed. As a retired Private Investigator, I can state that I believe Spokeo is the best information source available to unlicensed individuals and businesses.

Immediate resolution

Spokeo customer service resolved my issue on my first contact. I requested cancellation due to non use and received a partial credit, which was documented immediately via email. Thanks for the professional and prompt service.

I need to find my daughter cause I gave birth to her and never meant to lose all contact info. I scared her in some way but I don't know how really. Shes recently married and probably thinking of her own family so for me it's now or never. I need to convince her to accept my financial help as well as anything I can do to make up for the past if not being able to see each other hardly ever... thank you for your understanding, trust is a big issue with me so far

These search sites get low ratings because people using them are usually upset and often trying to get info on scammers. I have used most of them and they can be pushy, misleading and have worthless info. I can tell when I search for myself how accurate they are and they are often way off, specifically on people associated with me. Spokeo is more user-friendly, gives you a one-report low price so you're not stuck in an endless renewal. How many of us need months of access to billion-people data bases? I have done reverse number searches where the site "fakes" going through all these data bases with the graphics very impressive and then you get the report and it's empty. Spokeo keeps the BS to a minimum and delivers a fairly thorough (if sometimes outdated) report to get me started.

Do not give spokeo your information! I tried to pay for the 1 dollar fee but it gave me a message that said the transaction was not able to go through. I shrugged it off thinking it was nothing, but I check my bank account the next day and I was missing 350 DOLLARS. I called my bank and they helped me get my money back, but that still means that someone out there has 350 dollars now. Be careful out there!

The service is worthless

The service is worthless. No information was provided from the reverse phone number lookup. Then, after reading how these clowns at spokeo rip people off with continued automatic charges, I just had my CC cancelled and another one issued.

SCAM!

1.00 search ends up draining your bank account in the future - sick PR stunt - shut it down! Super scam in action here. Probably run from some shady spot in some foreign country. Customer service is good though :) Happy to cancel the subscription if you catch on in time... - you'll be out 25.00 either way - 1.00 promise or not. (Scam is this - pay 1.00 and you authorize them to sign you up without your consent - but you give consent with the 1.00 promise - InSaNiTy at it's best) The data they gather is like trash - it's useless and several years behind the times. Grew up with law enforcement/investigations - this is horrible unless you like fake news. If someone is an internet whore, you might get a tiny bit of useful information. Otherwise it's like subscribing to "National Enquirer" LOL

I looked up people I know to see how accurate this is. I'd give it 0/10.
Addresses were ALL outdated to when they were living with their parents at least 4-10 years ago.
Email was often 10+ years old and belonging to another household member.
Financial information, when actually available, was for the household, a guess, for the wrong person, or just wrong. It doesn't offer ANY court or criminal records, no jobs, no social media that's actually correct.
What DOES it tell you? Their full name, family members, old addresses, and phone number. Sometimes e-mail, but rarely accurate.
You know, everything that you can find for free online.
My ex hasn't lived with his dad in 6+ years, but Spokeo thinks that he does. No mention of living with his mom for 2 years.
This service is worth less than 1 star.

I was required by Spokeo to provide credit card info to verify my washer. They assured me out would never be charged, nor stored by them. I've now been charged at least two time for 25. I'm furious.

Do NOT trust this site. They will fraudulently charge you. Better to go to their competitors.

Don't waste your money

Spokeo leads you to believe there is more information available (name, location, etc) on a phone number you're investigating. So you pay the small. 95 fee. I imagine this company is making quite a bit of money charging lots of people $. 95 for nothing. Don't fall for it!
(It would get ZERO star rating if it was an option)
