This is a scam
December 10, 2019

I paid for onetime service for $0.95 With all my credit card information they started to charges me monthly for $19.95 since August, 2019. This is criminal same as stealing money. Because they never sent me a bill not even an email.

Don't Be A Victim!
April 22, 2019

Stay as far away from this company as you can. A simple $. 95 phone number search turned into a recurring $19.95 monthly charge that I failed to catch for a long time on my business credit card. No invoices. No notice of the recurring charge. Nothing.

They are stealing money from people and they obviously know it. When I called to complain they refunded me about 1/3 of the charges without even a discussion. When I asked for a full refund their "supervisor" Monique (ID #1242) read from a script and was ready to hang up on me before I protested. Ridiculous company.

They will be defendants in a class action suit before long.

We've just tried to place an internet order and had our card refunded because the seller used Spokeo to check out the email address and Spokeo came up with someone who isn't me! So much for accurate checking - don't trust them peeps.

F'ing ridiculous

Why in the hell would Spokeo advertise on Google (Switzerland), allow me to pay for two different searches, and then tell me that they do not search internationally!? What the F?! That makes absolutely no sense!

I did a reverse phone lookup and it guarantees thr owners name which it did not provide. This company clearly scams people do they can collect a dollar from millions of innocent people to line their pockets. You guys are horrible scammers!

My experience with Spokeo has been above average. I use mostly reverse searches, and for that purpose it is very helpful. With so much data, there can be errors, but it is a great place to get started and find what I need. I has also assisted me in locating past classmates, co-workers, neighbors and friends. Today I used it as I got a birthday message from my insurance guy sending regards to my wife and kids by name, and as I was responding, I could not remember his wife's name. A quick Spokeo search and found her name. People appreciate when you remember their families names.

I was quite interested in Spokeo's service, but had heard from several people that their information was spotty at best. About a week ago, I was almost ready to register, but noticed you get a limited number of searches a month. That number was never clarified on Spokeo's site. I sent an email through their site to Customer Service. Hearing nothing by the next day, I called their 800 number... twice. Both times, I was on hold in excess of 20 minutes each time. I'm STILL waiting for a return email about my inquiry. If the service is this bad before they get your money, I can only imagine what it would be like after.

These people are as crooked as a three dollar bill. My subscription lasted 20 minutes while I discovered all the hidden add on charges for their free 7 day trial and even demanded more money for the original info I paid for and never got. Cancelled with confirmation but have a bad feeling my credit card hasn't seen the last of them.

When you signed up you selected our Single Search with Premium Trial plan, which provided you with an initial $0.95 Single Record as well as additional free Premium access for 7 days. As long as the trial is cancelled within 7 days, the account does not continue. Because your trial was not disabled within 7 days, a recurring subscription fee began to charge. Accounts of this type automatically renew if left active to prevent any service interruption. Additionally, we provide detailed information regarding exactly how much, and how often a person will be billed on our payment page, as well as in the disclaimer which has to be agreed to before the purchase is processed. This information is also included in the confirmation receipt sent immediately after payment, as well as in our Terms of Use. Ran a check on a phone number. All these little check marks lit up and said there was all this info that they had. Paid for the little one time "Deal" offered under the misled premise that Spokeo had led me to believe they had information when they actually had absolutely nothing other than the fact it was a cell number which I knew, what area it came from which I knew, and the fact that it's wireless carrier was "changeable" which is a given with cell phones. Aside from that they gave me nothing after to all intents and purposes outright lying to me for a little piece of change... I mean at least make it worth while and get me for more than a dollar... Was like a slap in the teeth on top of it all. Ratchet... Simply ratchet.

I used this site for one search and paid the one-time fee of. 95 about 2 months ago. Since then, I've found over $40 in charges from this website. They are unbelievable. I really can't believe a site like this hasn't been shut down for fraud.

Monica rocked! And I'm finding people. Some of them don't even have phones or any online presence, so in some cases I ended up talking to family, friends and former neighbors, etc. most of whom were included in my first or second tier depth spokeo searches.

Lack of information needed!
December 28, 2021

I have been getting calls and texts from some weird girl wanting to exchange sexual acts for money. I searched spokeo to get the person's name so I can report her to the police. ALL I got for my $5 is the name of the phone provider and the general area of the caller (photo below). How is that helpful? Out 5 bucks for nothing. Do better!

I paid $0.95 for a single search only to discover a few weeks later that an amount of $24.95 has additionally been taken via my Paypal account. There is no clear or obvious mention of having to join a subscription service on their main page whereby this lack of transparency contravenes the UK and EU Consumer subscription laws. I have asked Paypal to reverse the payment and have notified my bank who have advised will back me up on this. I have also emailed Spokeo our laws regarding subscriptions and my demand for full return of unauthorised transfer of funds.

Spokeo lied again

Spokeo wrote a response to my complaint on here They are claiming they send receipts for payments. I never got any receipts by any email or any source. They give telephone numbers expecting me to call them. Not likely. These people get your info and bill you repeatedly because of fake accounts. I am intend to file complaints with every government agency I can, until somebody makes them get a signature for their phony accounts they use to do repeat billing on people. Yes, I got my money back and it is still under investigation. Save your comments for that! Eat that Spokeo..

I hated giving 1 star. Should be negative 12 stars. Awful trickery luring you into paying.95 for an address but in the small print is a monthly subscription. After purchasing the one address for.95 it asked if I wanted a monthly subscription and I clicked no. After 7 days was charged 29.95. What a rip off. DO NOT USE SPOKEO

My business card was charged $24. For Spokeo. I didn't know what it was so I looked it up I never used the service. Today a very obnoxious man kept calling about spokeo he called several times finally a manager took his call we ended up paying. 95 to get rid of him. This is a scam do not do business with these people. I will need to have a new CC issued.

Spokeo is unreliable
March 30, 2021

Didn't even know I had a subscription until it showed up on my cc bill. So I did a few searches. Knew they were off, so I did a search on myself. Almost all of the information was wrong, and most of it wasn't connected to me in any way. Really hard to figure, since I have an uncommon name. Spokeo is a waste of money. Rated 1 star only because 0 isn't an option.

We had a death in the family and needed a number for a $1.95 I have it. I would give a review score of a five and am not because the delivery of my information required logging on which didn't work therefore I had to call. I got a very helpful spokeo rep. On the phone who delivered my info she was so nice. I will use spokeo again it is worth a buck ninety five for sure. Make sure if you only want one search you don't click on the free monthly trial and then you won't be dealing with credit card issues.

Worthless scam
October 26, 2020

I used this product for one search and inadvertently signed up for a subscription where I've been getting charged for over 2 years. Unfortunately it was a bank account with many transactions So I didn't miss the $13.95. Their searches are generic and no better than anything I can get for free online.

I just Don't Know
January 19, 2017

I put a particular number into their system. They ran the number and said that they had a full report to share with me, so I paid the $2 for it. Turns out they had no information on the number at all. I'm not going to cry over $2, but after reading other people's reviews I will definitely be monitoring my Credit Card. I don't think this site is honest or useful.
