I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with Spectrum's business internet and phone service. I have been a customer for over 5 years and have had nothing but problems. The customer service is incredibly poor, the technicians are unprofessional, and the company has a monopoly on service in my area, which means they have no incentive to provide good service.

Here are just a few of the problems I have had with Spectrum:

Customer service: I have called Spectrum customer service countless times and have always been met with long wait times, rude representatives, and promises that my problems would be fixed, which they never were.
Technicians: The technicians who have come to my business to fix problems have been unprofessional and have damaged my equipment on multiple occasions.
Monopoly: Spectrum has a monopoly on service in my area, which means they are the only provider of internet and phone service. This gives them no incentive to provide good service, because they know that customers have no other choice.
As a result of these problems, I have lost thousands of dollars in revenue due to no internet. I have also had to spend a significant amount of time and money trying to get Spectrum to fix their problems.

I urge other businesses to boycott Spectrum's service until they can provide good service to their customers. I also urge the government to find a way to break up Spectrum's monopoly, so that customers have more choices and are not forced to put up with poor service.

Call to Action

If you are a business or a residential customer of Spectrum, I urge you to take action. You can:

Boycott Spectrum's service.
Contact your local government representatives and demand that they break up Spectrum's monopoly.
File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Together, we can make a difference and force Spectrum to improve their service.

I got hooked to move with Spectrum with what looked like a wonderful deal. I originally had direct TV and had spectrum only for internet. So I gave Spectrum a call and they broke down all future charges if I would move with them. 1 month later and I'm looking at an almost $400 bill, the bill they stated to me originally should have been $166. I have called them twice to explain all charges and they keep on giving me the run around that they are a pay forward company. Umm I think most providers are these days, this doesn't explain my high bill. Well when I asked if they can waive certain charges something simple like the change of service fee, they flat out said no. Apparently I'm being charged a fee because they bought off time warner cable and my internet was w/ tw and they had to make that change. So you are telling me that you are penalizing me because you bought off a company and instead of wanting to keep me as a loyal customer you would rather lose me over waiving $45. They are the worst provider I have ever dealt with. Direct TV tried so hard to keep me as a customer, they made an amazing offer which I denied because I really thought I would save more with Spectrum. Well the joke is on me. Not once did they ask me, what can we do to keep you as a customer. I have cancelled all my services and will be giving Direct TV a call again. We were actually very happy w/ Direct TV, but we wanted to have just one bill for all services and where I live direct tv doesn't offer internet. I give them 0 stars and even that I have to give them 1 star which they don't deserve. And we had a horrible experience when the technician came out. Hope my review helps someone.

Cable cutting out

I pay a lot for my cable and every night around the same time it cuts out and you can hardly watch it. Very frustrating. Almost ready to dump it!

I was quoted a price for cable services (channels provided for the price). When I couldn't get the channel I was told I would have, I called Spectrum. The person I got had me on the phone for 30 minutes, rebooting my box, etc. Told me he didn't know the problem and would have someone contact me regarding a time for a tech to come out to my home. I received a call from someone who stated a tech would be out the next morning between 8-9 a.m. when no one showed up the next morning I again called Spectrum to see what was going on. At this point they told me I needed to pay an additional $12 a month to get the channels. Big rip off. First I was quoted a so called "package deal" and was told these channels were included. Second why not tell me on my first call inquiring why I didn't have these channels that there was an additional charge, not have me reboot my system and tell me a tech was coming out. Absolute WORST experience. If you have a choice of cable providers bear in mind my experience before making yor choice. If I didn't live in an apartment complex where I had to use Spectrum I wouldn't use Them

Feeling cheated

I was getting my internet service from Times Warner, and at some point they were taken over by Spectrum. At the time I was living with my ex and when he left I informed Spectrum that I was now in charge of the account. The invoices were sent to my attention but the account for some reason remained in the name of my ex. Which was source of confusion and problems. Then I realized lately that I was paying and extra $30 every month for the internet service. I asked Spectrum what it was and they said that it was actually what I was paying to Times Warner at the time to get a faster internet. Spectrum did not switch me to one of their own subscriptions, they continued to charge me what the old provider was charging while Spectrum subscriptions are cheaper. They also continued to charge me for years the extra $30 monthly WITHOUT GIVING ME THE HIGHER SPEED. I truly believe Spectrum has been stealing my money all these years and they totally refuse to help, arguing that now that I have switched to one of their in-house subscriptions they are not able anymore to check what internet speed they were giving me the last 4 or 5 years. Spectrum has lost a client, I am arranging now a new subscription with VERIZON instead. At the end it will be a finacial loss for Spectrum. I absolutely do not trust them.

On-demand doesn't work

Spectrum's $45/mo TV "deal" actually costs over $82/mo after the $19 broadcast surcharge fee (as of April 2022), $9.99 receiver, $4.99 DVR service, and $3.87 in other taxes and fees. The broadcast surcharge already increased from $15 just the month before. They tried to charge $13/mo for the DVR but had told me it was $5 when I'd signed up, so I had to call and get them to fix it. All those costs are for just one receiver on one TV. Spectrum's streaming app doesn't work on older smart TVs or any Firestick. There was also a $19.99 fee to turn on the TV service. All that not-so-great promotional pricing ends after 12 months and then adds another $40 or so every month! They did not inform me about the $10 receiver charge when I signed up. They also sent me the wrong receiver and I had to go to the store, wait in line, and deal with a rather gruff associate just to get what I needed to complete the set-up. Different associates gave different answers to identical questions, like if the receiver supports picture-in-picture (was told it did, but the new ones actually do not). The receiver and DVR interface are sub-par, especially when navigating between recorded shows and trying to fast-forward. The recordings cut off the last minute of each show unless you set them to run over (and risk causing a conflict with the next scheduled recording). The DVR interface overall has weird navigation issues like when you delete or just want to hop back into the menu - it's bad design, not at all user-friendly. I canceled this service two months after signing up for it and it took around 45 minutes after being on hold to get someone, then being put on hold by that person, being asked a million questions and having to keep saying "I want to cancel the service" seriously over and over again. They tried to give me magical new deals but I frankly do not trust this company or anything that anyone from it promises.
