Spectrum will rip you off

I'm sure most of you don't know it but Spectrum does not pro-rate so if you have service for even one day of the month they will charge you for the entire month. I have been a loyal customer of Time Warner Cable and then Spectrum for years and still ended up getting ripped off. I even called the month before asking what we needed to do to cancel and they never mentioned that they don't pro-rate and that if we didn't cancel it prior to the end of the term we'd owe the entire monthly amount for a few days service plus we were given incorrect information to cancel. They are charging us the entire $242.55 for four days service. I don't care what their policy is, they are ripping people off and I will never have Spectrum again!

This year 2021 went from $163 to $172 to $192, and that is with a "discount" where the $192 was locked in until November 2022. Canceled Spectrum TV, kept the Internet and the landline phone service because it works with captions for hearing impaired family member. Now down to about $78. Picked 2 week free trial of YouTube TV with 1st month at $14.95 and then about $65 / month after. Will save, in total, about $600 per year on that route, enough to cover mobile phone bill. Only waiting for competition to come along and negate the need for anything Spectrum - like 5g rollout in our area from one of the mobile carriers. Then can say adios to this especially greedy company.

STAY AWAY.

There is no other company out there that ticks me off more than Spectrum does. Spectrum, as a company, has to be one of the most frustrating internet providers I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. There will be a few days I have a decent internet connection and then all of a sudden my internet goes off multiple times a day with no ETA on fixes or terrible excuses as to why it is down. Customer Service is always extremely unhelpful and provides the same useless tips to reset your router over and over again, and they really don't give a crap. Once, my internet was down at the same time of day (12 PM) for 4 freaking weeks, no explanation as to why. Even then, while we were still trying to force Spectrum into fixing our shotty internet connection, we still had to pay for a full month of service despite it being down for 4 weeks with no explanation. Also, their monthly bill keeps increasing by the month to the point where you're probably going to have to pay an arm and a leg to continue using their service. A technician came down, replaced the router, and then left. Our 200mbps internet speed didn't even last 4 minutes until it went down again, and even then it seemed to be going off even more frequently. Now, our internet is at incredibly slow speeds, goes off 10+ times every single day, and is frankly horrible service for a horrible price. And those commercials they air on TV are not only insufferable, but also full of blatantly obvious and unforgivable lies any normal customer would know for a fact is not true. Once our internet was at 0.03 mbps download, 0.16 mbps upload. Also, they run a monopoly in my area, which means they are the only choice of service and only service that is not ridiculously overpriced. How is this allowed? How is a company able to get away with such scummy business practices? Spectrum doesn't deserve my money, and they sure as hell don't deserve yours. If you are looking for an ISP for your household, stay clear away from Spectrum. Also, if you're on Spectrum, do a favor and either cut their service and find a new one if one is available or move and get Google Fiber in places it is available. Let Tom Rutledge burn his own company down into the deep dark fires of hell where it belongs.

I rather give negative rating but that is not an option. I have been a Charter (initially) now Spectrum customer for over 16 years continuously. The total bill for cable TV and Internet has more than doubled in these 16 years. Lately Internet services are intermittent and drops on its own more than 4 times a day (last time it dropped 4 times within an hour just before this posting). I have used my own Cable Modem as well as Spectrum supplied cable modem and it stills keeps on dropping Internet connection. Their Tech Support/Customer service keeps on stating that signal seems to be poor and they need to send out a technician to look at it. Probably that will be additional charge.

Also they do not offer any senior citizen discounts and their promotional deals only are for new customers and regardless of statement that no contract is required, it expires within a year and in rare cases 2 years. They rather have me discontinue service for a month and sign up as new customer to receive their promotional rate and repeat the cycle over and over.

Is this the way to promote services? No wonder their overall rating is way below 4 of scale of 1 to 5.

I wish my street address would have more than one ISP to draw some competition and better service.

HORRIBLE experience trying to cancel my service. After spending hours on the phone, I was directed to a representative who said my service would be canceled at the end of the month. What they didn't tell me is that I would be charged for the next month as well because of the way their billing cycle runs. I received a letter that my equipment wasn't returned and I spent several more hours on the phone trying to get that resolved. I disputed the additional month of billing since I had no service (obviously) after my equipment was returned. Now, I have a collection agency calling me repeatedly for the month in which I had no service. After years of paying my bill on time it comes down to this nightmare experience.

I absolutely would NOT RECOMMEND Spectrum if you have ANY choice. If you have NO choice, do not enroll in Auto Pay.

Paying for frustration

I dont even know what im paying for here. I am constantly TURNING OFF MY WIFI AND USING CELL DATA because that actually works better about 99% of the time. I preordered starlink but it cant get here quick enough. I loathe spectrum. They are still bright house and still terrible.

Every time the wind blows or rain or snow cable goes off n on. Wind blows it goes off wind stops cables back on yet they send emails to tell you theres service outage in your area (really? I didnt know), then they claimed to have fixed the outage when it just came back on because the weather improved. Such losers
And the low speeds…… what more can i say that we all dont already know?

AWFUL Customer service!
November 12, 2021

They buried the internet cable line located in my backyard, after 8 days of internet being installed, and without notifying me that was going to happen today. The line was scheduled to be buried on Monday the 15th and when I asked if it could happen sooner they said no! I came to work from home and to my surprise, the line had being buried but there was no internet service, we called spectrum trying to get internet back and they told me someone would have to come and check. The technician came 30 minutes later than the expected time (4-5) and found out that the line buried had been damaged. Since I had a meeting scheduled at 6, the technician installed a new cable line and marked the area for that new line to be buried again! I called spectrum to ask for the line damaged to be removed and the new line to be buried as soon as possible. I had talked with 7 different people trying to get a solve, their answer: I have to wait 7-10 business days for the line to be buried and they CANNOT remove the buried line, damaged by their their party contractor, out of my property!

They have terrible communication, no one knows why the line was buried today, without notification, they do not give solutions to customer and provide a poor customer service!

So many problems
November 9, 2021

I've been having problems with my cable about limited mode and it's been doing it for awhile, off and on. I always have to call Spectrum so they can handle this, she said that she can't do anything it doesn't make any sense cuz she said that they're upgrading around where I live but it doesn't make any sense. I live in a apartment complex, everyone else who lives here has cable but i dont, I will not have any cable for a couple of days. She could have told me I will take some money off or her boss could have cuz I pay a lot of money every month for this cable and Wi-Fi she said I can stream but I don't stream I'm kind of a old school so I don't want to stream. I'm getting to a point that I'm going to get rid of this cable cuz I don't really need it. It's always frustrating to me, it just seems like my cable is just getting worse and more worse whatever but Spectrum is getting really bad... I'm a really nice person but you can just take so much and you just get tired of it. The technology today I just don't know I think it's getting worse.

We came from an area where we could shift from Spectrum to WOW and after several years with WOW we moved to a location that only has Spectrum. We have now been on Spectrum TV for several months and most aspects of is operation is like moving back to the dark ages. DVR operations are hit or miss and more complicated than WOW. Equipment is antiquated compared to WOW. With WOW we had one central box and another small box associated with each TV. You could set up a recording on one TV and later go to another TV to watch what you had recorded. Not so with Spectrum You need to program each TV to watch the same show. I could set 2 channels before turning the TV off at night and the next morning turn it and get both those stations and when I'd shift back and forth to catch different news articles I could go well back and the program was there. Shifting back and forth would go to present and not be stuck where I stopped watching with Spectrum. Setting up recording and deleting with WOW was simple as was accessing. Can't wait until WOW gets here!

Spectrum is a Bait & Switch Operation

It most definitely should be painted different shades of grey.

The Sales Team bait Customers with false promises & once they reel you in …
They switch prices to whatever they think best boosts their bottom line.

The customer service team & billing department is a bunch of Bullies. No fault of their own, since that is what Spectrum trains them to do once the customer is hooked fish

If you have the chance to get any other internet service provider, DO IT. Spectrum employees will lie to you, none of them really have any idea of whats going on or how to service/ help you. Spectrum will raise your bill without letting you know, until you notice on a bank statement. They charged another one of my family members for "not returning the router" when in fact they did. This company is very deceitful and I would never recommend them to anyone. Please if you have the chance, go somewhere else with your business so we can get rid of this god awful company once and for all.

Marketing Ploy

Spectrum offers On-Demand channels but the series often are not complete. I have been viewing NOS4A2 on AMC Premier and half of the episodes are only available on Shudder. Therefore, I would have to upgrade to Shudder to see the complete series. Shady business practice. I will research new channel providers.

Door to door sales pitch

I own a small shop and have had people working for Spectrum come into my shop at least 3 times now trying to sign me up with them. They are always pushy, rude and don't seem to hear me when I say "No thank you I am not interested in changing my service provider" They do not care about potential customers, they seem to only want to push their own agenda.
I am so unhappy with Spectrum and I am not even a customer, that should say it all.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! TROUBLE SINCE DAY ONE! CANCELED CABLE PORTION AND WAS NOT ADVICED HOW THEIR CYCLE WORKS... NOW AM RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FULL AMOUNT WITH CABLE BECAUSE THE REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT ADVICE OF THEIR CYCLE AND HOW IT WORKS. ALL WAS TOLD WAS IT WAS MY FAULT FOR NOT READING MY BILL. WHEN I SHOULD OF BEEN TOLD UPON CANCELLATION TO MAYBE NOT CANCEL CAUSE YOUR RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING IT ANYWAYS! BASICALLY REPS ARE THERE TO JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT EXPLAIN POLICIES! SMH! DONT GET IT

My mom recently had a stroke and she's been having the run around with spectrum, and they haven't been helping her with anything, they keep taking our money, and she's just so sweet to them. They aren't paying the wifi, they take our money and the wifi stays off.
