SCAM! SCAM
June 17, 2017

I purchased an item through Walmart. 6 Months later I notice this charge on my account. They are refunding my money. I still want to know how they could of charged my account without me authorizing the charge. Who are they! I use ebates and never would of joined this sevice. I am surprised that this happened from a purchase through Walmart a large retail store. I could see if it happened through an unknown store. Be aware OF ALL CHARGES TO YOUR ACCT.

SCAM!

I paid membership fee every month. Today I checked my account and found all of my buying record disappear. So I called them and asked what happened to my account. They said I canceled the account. I ask I never canceled the account and your company keep charging me form my credit card. Then, I got email which said my account has been canceled! I know they just don't want to provide the cash back, so find an excuse. Be careful this website. Hope people who are cheated by this website work together and fight shopsmarter with Law.

This company is trash. If you see sitejabber, run. I purchased something through Wal-Mart and was offered $10.00 in a rebate to purchase through garbage jabber. It was next to impossible to cash in on the rebate. Avoid this company at all cost!

Deceive customers!
May 15, 2017

I was told to pay $12.97 monthly after I sign up at shopsmarter.com. Yesterday, I found a $12.97 payment to Shopsmarter in my bank account. Then I send a email to them to ask what does this payment use for. However, today, I got email which said my account has been canceled! I didn't tell you to cancel my account! How can you do that without my agreement! I checked "Terms of Use" and they didn't say how much exactly the member should pay.

That's totally cheat

This is the second time I've changed a negative review to a positive one because the website later came through. When the check actually arrives, I will change the number of stars to five. I have changed it from one to three because the rebate for my second purchase showed up in my account as "pending" - possibly because I called Walmart support and asked them to report my purchase to shopsmarter.com, but show up it did, in less than a week.

They still say a purchase can take ten days to show up - and if it does, you won't get a rebate for it during a 7-day trial membership. That hasn't changed: you should make a second purchase only on the assumption that you might or might not get a rebate for it without paying $12.95 - that's ten percent of $129.50 in purchases per month just to break even! But they don't always take ten days; mine didn't, and I hope to receive a rebate around July 15 and come back to tell you so.

Normally, it can take up to 7 days for your cash back to appear in your Savings Center, depending on how long it takes for the retailer to report the purchase back to us. However, we can promise you'll receive the cash back you earned on purchases made through ShopSmarter as long as you abide by our terms of use and double check the cash back restrictions implemented per retailer. If after seven days you do not see your cash back appear in your savings center please email customerservice@shopsmarter.com for assistance. Once they can confirm the purchase qualified for cash back, they can add it in for you manually!

In the first quarter of this year I made a few thousand dollars of personal purchases from Bestbuy and Target, so I decided to keep my account at Shopsmarter, as I would receive more cashback than the $39 in monthly fees. Comes April, I want to log in to see how much money I will be getting, but lo and behold, my account is locked! So I emailed them and they want me to send a whole bunch of email confirmations. No problem. Except that some of those confirmations are from orders that I haven't placed, so it's impossible to forward them. I told them to simply not give me cashback for those items, but they said it's they can't proceed without those (nonexistent) purchase receipts. So, there's a whole bunch of hours down the drain. The only thing positive I can say is that they did refund the monthly fees, and they do always respond to your emails within 24 hours - usually much faster. But what's that really worth when they promise you money and don't provide?

Hope you realize that you actually complained that you had to wait so long for the $10. I personally found the reviews helpful. They make it sound so good to the consumers who often do not READ THE FINE PRINT. One more reason that all complaints can come in handy!

If you wish to save money, this is not the way to go. Membership cost's make it difficult to actually save money. Just another "WOW" idea to collect people's money. Take your 12.95 a month X 2.5 million customers and you can have well over 32 million dollars rolling in each month. Someone's getting rich. Make all the money you can, wait a second what is the pirate's motto "TAKE ALL YOU CAN, GIVE NOTHING BACK."

I was suspicious about getting $10 cash back when it asked for a credit card number at the end before you submit and agree to their terms and conditions and even then it's really hard to find where it says you'll be charged but it does it doesn't say how much I don't think but there's a lot of fine print to read so it's definitely a trick and I can understand why all these people are upset but that's why you don't put credit card numbers into something in check a box where you say you agree to their terms without reading them. They give you a 7 day trial I believe but I ain't trusting that for 10$ back... mailed to me no less who knows when or if you get that... sorry to the people who were charged though.

Like everyone else here, I saw a banner on Walmart.com linking to shopsmarter.com
The fact that Walmart.com (the world's largest retailer) is directly referring their customers to shopsmarter.com proves that this is a legitimate website as well as a rewards program.

I've read at least 20 reviews here from people bashing shopsmarter.com
When I tried to sign up it clear states the following:
"Offer Details
Start your NO-COST 7-day review with our compliments. If you decide not to continue your ShopSmarter.com membership, simply log on to cancel during your review. Otherwise, your ShopSmarter.com benefits will be automatically extended for just $12.97 a month, billed to the credit card you provide here. You may cancel at any time. Your credit card will not be charged during your review period."

It then asks for your credit card. Anyone that can't read and gives away their credit card without even knowing why DESERVES to have their credit card charged every month. Some people are really that stupid (like all the people on here for instance).

However, I am only giving shopsmarter.com three stars because they promise an introductory $10 cash back bonus (but completely fail to explain it takes 6 weeks to receive it). So I think there is room for improvement on their transparency as well.
I also think they should explain that this is a subscription service on their website.

So yes - to be honest - they are kind of sneaky in their business practices and not completely transparent. But certainly legit.

SCAM or fraud?!

Misleading the customer at wal-mart online shopping. I didn't sign up for this too! When I've tried to reach them I've been told charged 4 times. Isn't this illegal somehow? I will also stop online shopping at wal-mart which provide this trick service to customers.

Very understanding!

So I signed up for that $10 cash back for a purchase I made in Walmart online. I didn't know anything about a fee! When I saw these reviews I freaked out. I called quick and a really nice guy answered. I was expecting the worse, but luckily they didn't charge me the fee nd cancelled my account. They said that their is a 7day trial, since I cancelled the same day I signed up, it didn't affect me. I was very fortunate. He even said I will still receive the $10 cash back. So I am actually very pleased with how things worked out. Sorry to hear not so much for the rest..
