I had to move from my building after they changed their pet policy and I could no longer have my dog with me. Roomster helped me find a place that allowed pets, they have a very efficient system for updating your lifestyle preferences and needs when creating the profiles. This way the only listings I found were ones that were pet friendly.
All the positive reviews on here are surely written by roomster themselves. All the messages are from creeps and yes, they take advantage of broke people in times of transition to withdraw $29.95 from their accounts without authorization. STAY AWAY.
It's hit or miss with the people who actually respond and communicate and the quality isn't always great. But it's access to still find potential roommates so it's helpful in that way. A good one has to fall through eventually!
I am a girl in 22 years old and like dancing. So quickly I needed a female room-mate who liked dancing. But I didn’t get at last I posted an ad in Roomster within 7 days I get my roommate easily. It’s possible only for Roomster.com. Thanks Roomster for your help.
You don't seem to scream these people very well. I've had contacts and people that never respond.
People who are in need of place to live with limited resources are often under an extreme amount of the rest in your life at that point in time.
I happen to be one of them. So when it comes down to the fact that I reach out the website that this looking for response and a safe place to live, I have found your system lacking in providing decent communication with the people who make these postings. And several of them have been complete frauds.
Nothing on here is legit. I messaged so many people and didn't get a single reply. I would get random messages from people saying "I spoil my roommates" and other super weird stuff. $30 and a month later, not a single lead.
UPDATE: "Customer Service" has reached out to me several times telling me that they will refund my money if I take down my review. I said, you give me the money back, I'll take down my review"... 3 months of going back and forth, forgetting our entire email history a few times, still no refund so... my review is still here!
I have responded to them several times. Not sure why they marked my review that I didn't. I'll be happy to pull the logs.
I'm receiving from all over my state and not the one's interested in my area. This the last time I am renewing. Plus, the automated renewal makes you look like frauds as you dont gv options of automatic renewal or one time payment. Get with the times!
Absolutely not worth the time or $$. 90% of Peoples profile are fake. I recieved inquiry from people looking elsewhere in demographics. The messages are in broken English. This is an app that make the creator of app rich. 2 months on this site & nothing legit.
I agree with all other reviews on this page. It prompts you to sign up for what you believe to be a short term subscription and then "automatically renews" you for 30 days and charges your card $30. It is in the fine print of the terms and agreement you must check the box to before your account is active. I'm too damn polite to put in words what I think of this crap, but it is the first time I have written a complaint or review about anything. I would love to see roomster offline.
Not the computer tech you all are, had difficulty in which program was right for me. I hope this site is all I have experienced so far. Anxious to find my new home and hopefully your site is better and more selective than Craigslist, the fee hopefully brings a better selection for both the rental parties.
Most of the messages I get on Roomster.com are from people who have not even looked at the space that I'm offering. They're more like e-blasts to everyone who is subscribed to Roomster. They are looking for rooms in NJ, in Brooklyn, in Queens, in Long Island, but only 5% are looking for spaces in Manhattan. That means that you have some button that bypasses their reading the reading of the profile, and goes straight to an e-blast from subscribers desperate to find a space.
Within minutes of signing up, I received a response from a scammer (started out looking legit) who ended up claiming to be stuck in Malaysia and trying to pull a fast one on me to get money. I'll stick to roommates.com from now on. I've had good luck with them in the past & they're good at keeping the fraudsters out.
Roomster.com is a great site. This site helped me find a really affordable room to rent rather fast. The site is easy to navigate and there are no hidden fees or tricks that they use to get more money from you. They also have a ton of rooms available so I m sure there is something on the site for everybody.
I just got a new job in Seattle and had to find a place to live within four weeks. I was looking at broker’s listings online but they all seemed incredibly expensive and I was not able to afford them. I came across Roomster’s site during one of my searches and they looked like they had a lot of affordable rooms. I purchased a subscription and started messaging some listings and within about two weeks I closed on a great room that was within my budget.
IPad OS app does not respect device rotation settings and is impossible to use when iPad is connected to Magic Keyboard because it's locked in portrait mode.
Overall UI is buggy and difficult to interact with consistently within the app. Prefer to use a web browser for the aforementioned reasons. Frequently see duplicate listings which requires browser refresh.
My boss recently had his nephew from London come in to work at our company. We run a digital ad agency and are a full service advertisement solution. The nephew was going to lead a new mobile division and I was tasked with finding him a place to stay when he got here. I used Roomster to find him a room to rent in a beautiful place a few minutes away from our offices. The whole process was super easy and painless and it was super convenient when he arrived we were able to get him setup in his new place right away. Great site, great service. Extremely simple and easy to use. Highly recommend.
I recently needed to find a place to live closer to my job because my morning commute was causing me to be late almost every day. I found Roomster through a web search and was surprised at how many rooms they seemed to have listed. I registered for the site, which was really easy, and found a really comfortably sized room for a great price 10 min walking distance from my office!
"Megaphone" Potentially could be a good feature, but since there is no instructions on how to use it it is absolutely worthless. I get many dozens of messages from members by them using Megaphone And I respond to most of them if not all. 99.9% never respond back to me, which tells me that they have no idea what my list thing is all about. Hopefully someone there at Roomster will get the idea and write a little introduction to megaphone so people would understand what it's all about and how to use it PROPERLY
Why is auto renewal on?! Bull$#*!, this is what it is. How do I deactivate automatic renewal while still being able to use the 30 days I purchased?
People don't just look for rooms non-stop. What a dumb idea!
A friend recommended Roomster to me. I am usually not prone to utilizing services such as these online because they usually lack security but after speaking at length with my friend who used the site I felt comfortable using it. After I created a profile it was very easy to find a listing that was within my budget and communicating on the site was a breeze. Overall positive experience and Im happy the site did what it advertised.

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.
