I paid over $8 to be able to send and receive messages. After sending multiple messages, I received not one response. I understand that is not the fault of Roomster but then I was charged an additional $25. I paid over $30 for absolutely nothing at all. I asked for a refund for at least my $25 and there was nothing they could do for me.
I just got a new job in Seattle and had to find a place to live within four weeks. I was looking at brokers listings online but they all seemed incredibly expensive and I was not able to afford them. I came across Roomsters site during one of my searches and they looked like they had a lot of affordable rooms. I purchased a subscription and started messaging some listings and within about two weeks I closed on a great room that was within my budget.
A friend suggested I try Roomster after I had been looking for roommates for quite some time, I decided to give it a shot and was amazed how great it was. The site was super easy to use, their prices were reasonable and I found two roommates fairly easily without much hassle or headache. Great site!
I am a student. I am not able to spend much for accommodation. For this reason I always share my room with other. In Roomster.com I got one roommate from a large number of preferable roommates. I contacted with him and now sharing my room. For searching roommate the customer service of ROOMSTER was very useful.
Trick you to pay for their 5 day trial when you just purchased the cheapest one for 7.95 (I think). Cant see or send messages if you dont pay. Its a stupid scam site. If you complain to them on their chat (there is no phone #), they refund you half of something you didnt sign up for.
When it comes to the roommate game, I am an MVP by now. As anyone moving into NYC should know, roommates come and they go, and so do you. Have been around this block many times before, and it is never fun. Once I got onto Roomster, I never looked elsewhere again. It has everything you need to make finding a roommate/apartment a smoother experience than the headache I used to endure. Have used it twice by now, and will be looking on Roomster Paris once I move there next spring.
Few months ago I was moving out of my old place looking for a more affordable option. After searching the net for a few days I came upon Roomster and gave it a try. They had a plethora of options and I found something that suited my budget better.
Roomster.com is the best site for room renting because I rent my choiceable room with in 7 days only. For this reason I love Roomster.com.So I can say now to everyone that Roomster.com is a helpful site. Rooster's service & quality is awesome. Its customer service was great. Thanks roomster.com
I paid thinking it would be a great way to find a roommate.
I am busy and don't have time to deal with this, and want to warn everyone out there- use a reputable company! NOT them-they have no screening process.
In order to use the site at all you have to pay, otherwise it's useless. You can't communicate with anyone you might room with. This takes advantage of people in desperate situations- people unable to afford a place on their own.
I think that the messaging isn't very good. The fact that it is blocked behind a paywall makes it unappealing to use. I can't put my contact information in the description so people can easily follow up with me.
I'm currently studying for the LSAT's and my roommates are extremely inconsiderate of the fact that I am trying to study! They come home making a huge ruckus at all hours of the night and I just had enough of it. I searched the internet for a solution and came across Roomster. Bought a 7 day subscription just to try it out but I ended up finding a great deal on a room to rent and jumped on it. Now I can study in peace!
I saw Roomster available at $7.99 I purchased through Apple Pay.
My bank was immediately ‘hit' for $14.99
The application is faulty and regarding the 24/7 callback via text within 4-5 minutes was untrue.
The application does not show within iPhone Purchases (to enable non recurring charge - which you only learn off after you've made the initial purchase!
Apple being the good and honest folk they are, are refunding me the full $14.99 PLUS opening a fraudulent case. DON'T use ROOMSTER... SCAM!
Emailed renter about an ad on Craigslist, got a request for my phone number. Received a text 3.2 seconds later with a link to roomster. The link made it sound like I had to create a roomster account in order to prove to the renter that I was not a robot. Created an account, and the renter never responded back. Once I had the account I browsed around and messaged some renters about listings. I never received a response. I did, however, receive a few "messages" from "people" requesting to be my roommate in random areas all over my county. The only way to access the messages is to pay a (ridiculously high) fee to roomster. They use bail-and-switch tactics to lure you into an auto-recurring fee for a site that doesn't seem to do a good job at what it sets out to do. Side Note: Look at the responses from the representative from roomster. They are defensive and don't really respond to the allegations of users giving negative reviews. All bad.
I tried many times to pay without success...
So I contacted the "Help" which is just "automatic answers" which di not help...
They said to check my account, which I did several times, that maybe I had no money on my account... bla bla bla...
When contacting again... no reply...
So I used again Master card in case of Amex (which they said I can use use with "correct numbers & correct AVS"... thanks... but this I know:-(
They will keep taking money out of your account even after you cancel your subscription - it says "free to cancel anytime," then further down they say "must cancel by X date." Icouldn't get or receive messages even after "upgrading." It's a terrible website. Don't even bother.
So far very reliable site. Because you make the site organized for us, security and protection are in place. Which Id feel more comfortable. Especially to protect our personal information. Id recon your system for sure in my next search for my future reference. Thank you...
Wikipedia states the following:
All of Roomsters basic features are free; anyone can search for listings, enter a profile, and view profile information for potential roommates.
This makes absolutely no sense. If the point of the site is to connect renters and tenants, then that literally is the one and only "feature". It is deceptive to claim that "basic features are free" when said features only allow users to post or view ads without allowing them to ever actually rent a room without a fee. Just call a spade a spade. It's a pay website, don't make users waste time posting a ton of info under the pretense of any sort of free service.
I just got accepted to my dream college and I couldn't be happier. The only catch is that the tuition is already astronomical and I'm not sure how I will afford to pay the tuition and living expenses. My family is not particularly wealthy and they are already going to be spread thin to pay for the tuition determined to figure out a solution I went online to see what options I could find for alternative affordable housing. I ended up looking through a bunch of listings and decided this was a great resource. I signed up for a 30 day subscription and immediately started messaging people to find the right listing for me. After about two weeks I settled on this really nice room that was really close to campus. I'm so relieved that I found this site it enabled me to attend my dream school without breaking my budget!
We should be able to see and respond to messages even in free account. You should earn your revenue through ads and such but allow ppl to communicate freely on your platform. Even with a paid subscription we get many scams and con attempts, and many are just fakes and flakes

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.
