Roomster

My little brother is going away to college in the next two weeks and we found him an amazing deal on a room share through Roomster. The college wanted a ridiculous amount of money for their housing program but we found a much more affordable alternative with Roomster. If you are looking for a good priced room to rent this is the site for you.

I tried the five-day Roomster trial. I live in New York City, so I figured the site would have some legit listings as it can be a tough city to find housing. For every one real listing there are 15 scam listings. I'd also like to note that there are not many real users / listings on here.

I wish Roomster would take an active role is cleaning up the false listings. You can tell they are fake because 1. The rent prices are insanely low 2. The user immediately asks to chat with you via email and tells you he is out of town for his job and you can wire him the monthly rent.

I'm only out $7.95 so it's not the worst thing in the world, but I would not recommend this particular site. Instead, I had success with the Roomi app and Spare Room.

My son recently left to college and we found a great apartment for him near campus that was more affordable than on campus housing. We used Roomster to find him a roommate and I have to say it was possibly the easiest thing we did throughout the entire college process. Very easy to use and their customer service was extremely helpful and insightful, highly recommend.

I needed to move out of my previous apartment because I decided to get a cat and there were no cats allowed. I started asking friends if they knew of any vacant rooms. I had no luck until I went on Roomster. What made it so great is that I actually was able to put an ad up and specify everything that I needed, e.g. someone who likes cats! I was so happy when this guy replied; he was looking for one more person and the owner allowed pets! They were all really excited about having a pet so it couldn’t have gone any better!

Roomster is an awesome website that helps to find choice-able Rooms & nice, clean, responsible Roommates around the world. I was seeking a Roommate & I found one already by this wondering website. That's why I just giving 5 out of 5 stars.

I think it was more fate then anything, however, I had nothing but a positive experience with Roomster. The automatic renewal after the 5 day trial happened to me, but it was my fault for not cancelling the service. The site prompts you to create a short bio. This is very appealing when you are going in blind. The site allows you to do quick searches based on amenities you are looking for. I met my now current roommate for happy hour before seeing the house. We instantly clicked and the house was even more beautiful in person. We set a move in date, continued to hang out, and now we are roommates and dating. I am probably biased because I found the love of my life but overall the website and experience was a 10 out of 10.

Well, it's so tough out there right now what with the covid and everything. I hav e been vaccinated 2 times and feel great about all it does. I see the gyms are opening up ( thank God) so maybe the housing will too. It's just been so frustrating so far. I am a great, fun, clean to a fault GWM and I hear from nobody. Why? Can't tell you. I don't run long on the texts cause they get redundant and boring so I try to keep it inviting. I hope to hear from
someone in my price range 500-550. So we'll see. Thanks here *******295

Wish there was better ways to contact people without paying. The map sucks as it's not clickable to see a better view of your location. Hardly any of the listings have actual descriptions, or how many baths, rooms, amenities. I'm just giving this a quick shot hoping to find something.

Don't bother looking for a room on here. There's only perverts messaging that they want to share a room for free etc. loads of scams on there and the customer service is not helpful at all! Just got charged 23 euros after 5 days without a reminder, eventhough I don't feel safe using their website to find a room. But they refused to refund me. Very sad

I dont like that i take the time to make a listing and then AFTER the fact I find out I have to pay to receive messages, not cool. Also the search function for finding roommates is weak, I can't narrow down who would be a good candidate, the location under each roommate - I dont even know if that is where they are now or where they want to live, it is not clear. Also the questionnaire for setting up a listing is poor, for instance is asks if i am male or female when actually in my apartment there is one of each gender and there is no option to choose that. Weird.

Have used roomster a few times before, some successfully and some not, but it always has been my first stop to find out where to next. Also helped my parents find a new place when they decided to uproot to the city now that they no longer have us kiddos in the house. You could say they are a picky couple, but then again at their ages of 63 and 67, who can blame them. Nonetheless we managed to find them a match from heaven. There are some great finds out here.

The website is fairly user friendly, a new should spend some time familiarizing themselves with how it is laid out, once that is know their tools for finding roommates or rooms is good.

With that being said, their selection is not very big. And I suspect it is because of the high fees for subscriptions and the fact that the fine print is elusive and tricky, charging for future subscriptions. Beware! I have experienced this problem twice now in a three year period- a recurring problem they will have to face if Roomster would like to see more users, in my opinion.

I posted an add on Craigslist looking for a room and have been constantly spammed by bots with links to this bogus site. In less the 4 hrs I have received over half a dozen spam texts with links that lead to roomster.com. Any company that employs such methods is one to avoid completely. If they are willing to use such tactics just think about what they will do with your credit card info if you sign up for this bogus site

Best housing website evvvveeeeeeer! I had never used it before and am thrilled I tried. I was in a very stressful situation and needed to find something A. S.A. P. You get a lot of responses, just saying - be ready! Happy that I got my stuff in order and now, I'm living now with two awesome people. Will be using again for sure.

My navigation skills on Roomster are not yet up to speed. I must spend some time in my search before I can give a knowledgeable opinion. And if I'm blessed I won't have the experience of being familiar with navigating your site as I'm looking forward to contacting Kate from this site and going to have a look at her room for rent. Although I appreciate your service very much. I have a few stories of being judged and disrespected by renters on Craig's List. Oh well!
