The map is difficult to use, as it keeps zooming in and out uncontrollably, and the "matches" feature is confusing, as it puts information from one listing flowing into another. On top of that, there are tons of listings that I am seeing that are female-only, despite my being male.
I’ve been writing this book for a few years now and I really felt like I had hit a creative block and was unable to finish the project. I decided it might benefit me to move away to finish the project and get a new perspective and find some new inspiration. I heard about Roomster through a friend of mine who’s used it and I was impressed with how their site was setup and the range of rooms they had across so many locations. I ended up fining a place to rent in northern Maine that was a really great environment to finish my novel!
When I tried to reopen my account, I got a message that the card had already been used! What is that supposed to mean? So I switched to open under Amazon, and then it brings up my card. Pretty screwy process. Who engineered this?
Had to move out of my friends place after his girl moved in so I started looking for rooms on Roomster. A friend of mine warned me to be careful about finding a roommate online but after my experience I gotta say I'm a believer! Site was really nice looking and had a ton of useful features that helped tailor my feed to exactly what I needed. I went to meet with two different potential matches and one of them went off without a hitch. Moved in a short while after and I couldn't be happier. Would recommend, and will come back in the future if need be.
The price to use this is a bit ridiculous, but whatever, makes sense since people aren't typically going to continue using this upon finding a place to stay or someone to rent/purchase. As for being able to find listings that match what I'm looking for, I'm grateful I've found two, the experience in finding it was pleasantly easy. However,
I hope the people I contact on here are able to return my messages, otherwise this app is completely and utterly useless.
The merit of this site is very questionable! It is sad that there business model is based on covert practices, panhandling and snatching their customers money in exchange for an inferior internet product. If you ever notice how attractive some of the Posters are? I encourage you to do research on some of the folks in these "profiles". You will find that they feature several people who are affiliated with some type of entertainment source. Meaning they are probably recruiting paid talent to post, hey a gig is a gig I guess.
It is not at all clear what this service offers. I am only signing up to find out if it is useful at all. I've gotten dozens of advertised emails to sign up from various named people. Darkest entry to an app I have experienced so far.
Looking for a place in san francisco and about 50% of the ads are roomster spam. I know as soon as it is because they send an automated text pushing to their site. It's deceitful and more than anything, exceptionally annoying.
To their claim that they are not responsible for the craigslist spam - They still are if they have an affiliate program that rewards that kind of behavior. Since it is such a pervasive problem, they should suspend their affiliate program until they can vet people who are doing things in the name of their company.
As for contacting you first: a) I did via fb. B) seriously? Even if I hadn't, I've seen your canned responses about how it's not your fault - much like your response to me. The only way to get your company to stop this horrible and disruptive behavior is to shame you into stopping it.
Last fall I changed jobs and subsequently moved office from way uptown to downtown. I used to live very close to my work, and so moving jobs became a bit of a challenge, commute wise. I decided to check if I would find anything on Roomster since my lease was coming to an end and within weeks I had actually found a great place! I now live much closer to my work making my life so much easier! And my roommate is great so I’m very happy with this experience!
In comparison to other roommate sites it seems more polished, however I don't like that I have to pay just to message someone who reached out to me. I guess that's how the business makes money though.
Paying to see messages is annoying. There has to be some other revenue model that doesn't feel like extortion. Also, I think I've tried this service before and was unimpressed with the respondents. They seemed like they were just messaging anyone and asked to see my apartment without giving me any details about who they were or what they were like. I'm only using this service again for a week because I'm desperate to fill a room due to COVID.
Someone I work with told me about how they found a great deal on a bedroom rental on Roomster. I recently found myself in a situation where I was forced to leave my current housing situation so I went to Roomster to see if I could find something suitable. After a few hours on the site I found someone who rented me a really nice, small but comfortable, bedroom in a great luxury building w doorman and gym. Super stoked about it!
The worse site to find a roommate. I was unknowingly billed twice after I paid the $5.95 fee. When they issued the refund(which I am still waiting to receive), I was under the impression, I'd have access to my mailbox. A free membership is a waste of time, and it is not worth paying for, as many of the ads seem to be BS.
We would never charge your card without your permission and authorization, we ask all members who upgrade to sign off the subscription terms twice before upgrading (no small print) we also send emails reminding you to cancel your subscription to eliminate any future billing, Furthermore we issue pro-rated refunds to all members. Did you contact 24/7 support before leaving this review? Please know that Roomster has an A+ rating with the BBB and we have a fully staffed 24/7 support help desk.
I used to live with this guy who would constantly blast the most god awful music until 4am and every time I confronted him about it he would freak out on me and I feared he would get violent so I just avoided him. In the meantime I looked online for alternatives and I found Roomster on Google. I created an account easily enough through my Facebook profile and it populated a profile page instantly with all my info. Within a few weeks I found a really nice room to rent in a beautiful building with some cool guys and it worked out great. So glad I was able to get out of my previous situation without much hassle.
This has been a nightmare between false listings from other free sites directed here. Tlhen initially here had to pay for verification which was so screwed up it took days now that I can finally get in, I'm informed I can't use any of the communication tools unless I pay again. So I'm the sucker, paying again because I need a place to live.
Finding interested parties, but no one seems serious. Getting ghosted for no apparent reason and/or meeting interested people once who act like they like the place and then they disappear or back off.
On my next roommate search I did a lot of research about the best place to find good candidates and I determined Roomster was my best choice. After creating an account and starting to look through their listings it was clear that id be able to find a good fit with the abundance of people they have on the site. I messaged back and forth with a few people before I signed with a girl in her mid twenties that was a nursing student. In a week i found a perfect roommate for me.
I am sportsman and I lived a person who left the room because he didn’t like sports. So I emergency needed a room-mate. For this I posted an ad in Roomster. Wonderfully I found my room-mate who liked sports. So I want to thanks Roomster for its help. Really Roomster is a helpful site.
At least in the Boston area, they have trash internet people posting fake ads trying to get you to sign up. They used to be reputable, but now they're just about having people put fake postings in places like CL, so that they can make money -- without the posting you're responding to!
Lina, This is just not true or the case. Roomster does not post anything on any classified sites. We do have an affiliate program, and tell all affiliates not to post on any classified sites. If they do, we remove them from the program. This review is really unfair. Please check out our affiliate page where we have a warning to all affiliates. https://www.roomster.com/affiliate/default
I work at a creative studio that produces artwork and clothing and my boss had this homeless street artist living in our space while we incubated him as an artist. At first I was very taken aback because of his strong odor but my boss really believed in him and there was no denying he was a talented painter. Eventually he started selling his pieces for a decent price and we helped him find a place to live through Roomster. The site was very easy to use and we found him a really great room to rent not far from our studio!

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.

We absolutely do not post on Craigslist and have no hand in this at all. We do have an affiliate program and we ask affiliates not to post on Craigslist or any other sites. We remove affiliates who do. It would have been decent of you to contact us before posting this review. Its inaccurate and mean spirited.
