Do not park your number with this company you will never be able to port it out. They say they are there to assist but its a complete crock. They do nothing but give a run around and basically tell you they cannot port out your number or they cannot see the request. Do not trust them if you want to keep your number
When my father passed away, my elderly mother had to move. She was unable to keep the landline number they had shared for over 50 years. That number was used by all of her friends, doctors and billing. To lose that number at such a crucial juncture would have created a lot of headache and heartache. Fortunately, I found Number Barn and successfully saved the original landline number to forward all calls to her new landline. She has no idea how this works but she and I are very grateful for the save. There have been a few small issues but they have been quickly resolved by Tech Support. I highly recommend.
Hi Leslie. Thank you for your recommendation. We're so glad that NumberBarn could help save Granny's landline number!
I started the port out last Tuesday. It is now over a week and the number is still parked at NumberBarn! Still waiting...
Update: Brian reached out to me after I posted the above review and I received an email letting me know the porting out process was underway. He told me it will be complete on May 15th! Hoping for the best!
Hi Tee,
We understand the anticipation of porting a number to a new provider. Numbers with NumberBarn are landline numbers. This means that when porting away, it can take up to 3 to 10 business days. Weekends and holidays are not included in business days. I'll send a private message your way to work on your specific port request.
I was searching online for the best vanity telephone number for our company. I came across numberbarn.com. They had the number that I wanted so I put it in the shopping cart. Once I started going through the fine print for the purchase I realized that this is not a company that we wanted to work with. Even though I removed it from their cart, it is still showing as reserved. So they basically locked me out of using the number that I wanted. I have verified with other providers, and they confirm that it's numberbarn that has it on reserve. I have emailed them on a number of occasions as I can't seem to get one of their representatives on the phone. It is SO frustrating to know that they hi-jacked my number, just like that. Watch out! Do not enter the number that you are interested in on the numberbarn website.
Vardit, thanks again for reaching out here sharing your experience. Yes, when someone searches a number on our website, adds the number to their shopping cart and does not checkout, we do place this number on a reservations table to set it aside for 24 - 48 hours in the event you decide to come back and purchase the number. It is similar to how services like Ticketmaster hold your tickets for a period of time to ensure that they are reserved for you. We are real people that care (not phone number hi jackers) and are here via email. We will respond back to you within 1 hour or less. We also have live chat as well. NumberBarn does not offer phone support so we can pass the savings on to our customers. I do see your email to our team and that we replied to you. I hope that helps!
I recently bought 2 lines. Those lines were from landline and when I was transferring to cellular carrier it took some time (2-3) days. But it was expected so everything proceed smoothly and I'm happy that I used their service.
Hi Toni, we're so glad to hear that we set accurate expectations for the porting timeline to your cellular provider. Thank you for this review!
Technical issues from the beginning made it impossible to port a number from them to a new phone. The email support exists, but they are not able to troubleshoot. Rather, they just provide the same information that is already on the website repeatedly. It might seem like a good deal to get a $10 number, but it might cost you hundreds of dollars in time lost trying to get it to work.
Hi Max, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our service. Yes, it's true that we don't currently offer phone support but it's definitely our goal to provide excellent email support. It sounds like we haven't delivered in this case. If there's anything still outstanding that you need assistance with, please reach back out to our support team and put "Attention: Jeremy" in the subject line and we'll be sure this is addressed right away.
I needed to have my number ported over, Jessamyn made it happen for me! Reviewed my situation and ultimately made the decision to go above and beyond!
Hi Patrick, we're so glad that we could help you port your number. We're here for you any time you need us. Thank you for the wonderful review!
I purchased a phone number for my new business, activated it, tested it, was ready to go "live" with it, and realized it wasn't HIPAA compliant. Customer service was very helpful and responded to my concerns over a weekend. I was able to return the phone number and was fully refunded for my purchase. There was additional follow-up by other NumberGarage team members to ensure my problem was solved. Their customer service and attention to the matter was exceptional, especially since it was outside of normal business hours. Extremely satisfied with NumberGarage, all the way around.
Hi Elizabeth, we're celebrating your review over here. Thanks for taking the time to give our customer support team a shout out!
I've had my phone number for almost 20 years, & I've traveled throughout the US & Canada using that number as my personal & work phone number. Recently, I was prompted to switch my number to a company phone number to be used for work & personal calls/texts/etc. I didn't switch a long time ago because I didn't want to lose my number that every account/app I have is attached to, & there was no way I could let everyone know I changed my number by me reaching out first. If I knew of this service, I could have saved hundreds on phone bills in my attempt to hang on to that number. It took just a couple of days, & now if anyone tries to reach me, they can hear a message giving them my new number. I just got this set up so I haven't used all the features, but so far it's been very simple. If I ever need that number back, it appears I can just port it out just like I ported it in. I read a few reviews that made me question using this service, but I haven't had any issues so so I figured I would leave my 2 cents.
Hi Meg, I'm so glad to hear that it's been a great experience for you. We want to ensure that it stays that way and that this continues to be a wonderful value for you. Contact our support team if we can ever help out.
Porting my number over from AT&T to NumberBarn was effortless. It only took a few days for the transfer to be completed. I immediately had access to Call Forwarding, SMS and Voicemail, using my same number. NumberBarn gave detailed instructions for setting up my account, and was quick to respond and offer support for my questions. I could kick myself for not making the move to NumberBarn sooner.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Ernestine! We're so glad you had a great porting experience. Also, what great advice for other readers. It's definitely essential to keep a number active throughout the porting process.
I initially parked my number, waiting for activation when the business begins.
It was really simple to do, and pay (Via PayPal).
I had a problem uploading my message, and after I sent a question, answers were immediate, and easy to do.
As well, live help is available, that helped me out, when I uploaded the wrong version of my message (Duhhhh...)
I think its a excellent, well thought out service.
Really FLOORED with their service. Excellent communication during the week. Huge selection of great numbers at wonderful prices. Straight forward process. Seriously the Wal-Mart of phone numbers. Number Barn is going to be HUGE. Experience with 2 different numbers here, excellent both times. Thank You Number Barn, the way it SHOULD be!
Greg, we appreciate your stellar review. Thank you! We like to keep things straight forward and give you many options for your number needs. We're happy you found us and can't wait to have you back at the barn again.
I used NumberBarn to purchase #s in my area code that otherwise weren't available from my VOIP provider. Buying the numbers was super simple as was porting them out. The interface is super simple and straightforward and pricing for purchasing and parking was very reasonable.
I appreciate that after the numbers were ported out I received an email that the transfer was complete and that I would no longer be charged for parking.
Company was great for my needs.
David, we're super happy that you found the numbers you needed and had a simple and straightforward experience with us. Thanks for sharing your kind words!
I wanted to port my cell phone number to them, but I couldnt. The fault lied with verizon not with NumberBarn.
Every time I contacted them they responded within the hour, I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and response time.
I also cancelled the port with no problem.
Event though I didnt end up using their service I would recommend them.
I was looking for a number to give my daughter because with the Xfinity in order to receive the current promotion you had to transfer over a number. So i bought a number for $10 plus the $2 monthly porting fee it was activated and ready to port out in 3 hours. I went to Xfinity mobile picked out my daughter phone showed them the porting information and the number was literally transferred out in 1 day, even though i was told by the Sale rep with Xfinity and reading the faq on number barns that it can take up to 3 to 10 business days do to it being a landline number. But i am sooo please and my daughter will be receiving her first cellphone this christmas.
Wow! It sounds like NumberBarn was the perfect solution for you. We sincerely hope your daughter LOVES her new phone and number. Wishing you all the best and thank you for sharing your experience!
Great service. However, I need to reactivate my account which has may number that needs to be ported out. Please contact me.
Hi Carlos, thanks for the review. We definitely want to help and I see that you have an active ticket in our system. Keep us posted on how we can continue to help you out.
NumerBarn is a waste of time I spent money and lots of time trying to port my number from NumberBarn to my Xfinity carrier. I paid for a service I did not get that service and I hear of many other people that have the same issue. I'm In the process now of trying to get my refund back.
I'm saving $50 a month by canceling my old landline, and I can see the voicemail from the pig when someone calls. The telemarketers never leave a message. It's great because they never interrupt my shows at night any more.
Found this company by doing my own research on the internet. Wanted to port my Home number so i could move forward and cancel my phone and services from Charter here in Massachusetts. NumberBarn employees were wonderful to work with all by e-mail-but they respond really quickly- in a true timely manner-even late at night for those of us here on the East Coast lol-Great! My problem was with Charter- I waited too long to request the port of my number (please give this great company: NumberBarn enough time to do the process). Be sure to read NumberBarn's directions for porting your number in from your current provider; send them a copy of your LAST bill with all the account, name, address etc. Charter is a bear: if one letter or one zip code number is off-they won't make porting easy. If i didn't cancel Charter that day-they were going to charge me another $$$$ billing cycle. Charter-so bad. Would absolutely use this porting/parking service again-and have told others about it! Thanks for all your help! Happy Massachusetts customer
Fantastic service. I was able to keep my number when abroad and port it back out a year later. All my text messages were forwarded immediately, which made life very easy.
First of all, we hope you had a fabulous trip. We're thrilled that NumberBarn could make your travel experience that much easier!
Answer: Hi, Oswaldo! Our service does allow you to port a number to and from a mobile provider of your choice. The rate center of the number must be supported by each carrier, however. You can also forward your number with NumberBarn to an outside cell phone number.
Answer: Hi Damian, great question! Yes, once porting to NumberBarn is 100% complete, you can definitely cancel your service with your provider. Just make sure there aren't any additional telephone numbers or services on that plan that are important to you. Also, just keep in mind that if you have a contract coming up soon to port well in advance of that contract expiration. Porting is usually pretty quick but it's best to allow 3-10 business days just to be safe. Let me know if you have other questions. You can reach our support team and find other solutions at https://help.numberbarn.com/hc/en-us.
Answer: Hey Ephraim, thank you for your question. In general, porting each way can take 3-10 business days because we're moving the number from wireless status to wireline and then back to wireless. Practically speaking, the whole process could take as little as a few days if everything works totally smoothly. You'll want to review these couple of articles from our help center and please reach out to our support team if we can help: https://help.numberbarn.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022308114-Step-by-Step-Guide-How-to-port-in-a-number https://help.numberbarn.com/hc/en-us/articles/4913568732567-How-to-port-a-number-to-Verizon-Wireless
Answer: Hi Michael, thank you for your question. We actually only have access to United States and Canada numbers but we are able to forward calls to Nigeria numbers. You can see our international forwarding rates here: https://www.numberbarn.com/international-rates Let me know if you have any further questions.
Answer: Hi Thanh. If you are having trouble logging into your NumberBarn account, please reach out to our support team via email to support@numberbarn.com or through our help center: https://help.numberbarn.com/hc/en-us
Answer: Hi Olga! Yes, so long as we can support the rate center of your Canadian number, yes, you can port it to us and answer calls on your new Australian number. Please check here to verify we can support your Canadian number: https://www.numberbarn.com/basket?step=lnp
Answer: Hi Jackie! We're noticing this option is not showing up on some customer's accounts. Please reach out to us via support@numberbarn.com for assistance in changing your plan.
Answer: Hi Laura, absolutely! So long as your number is active, you can take it to any supporting provider :)
Answer: The guarantee is this, Steve, keep your number active and pay your bill each month. So long as that happens, your number will remain yours.
Answer: Hi Steve! Great question - so long as your number remains active with your Canadian provider throughout the entire transfer to us, the number would stay with you :)
NumberBarn has a rating of 3.5 stars from 84 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with NumberBarn most frequently mention customer service and cell phone. NumberBarn ranks 4th among Call Forwarding sites.
Hi Jim M. We appreciate the review, as it validates real people with real scenarios use our business. Unfortunately, we cannot verify if you're actually Jim M. As nobody with that name has contacted our support department, nor have our customers with the actual name (Jim M.) contacted us recently. Since this review coincided quite coincidentally with an angry string of support tickets, and threats of bad reviews by one particular customer, I'll assume it's "you" but protect your anonymity as you desire.
As a preface to my response, I'd like to say, NumberBarn processed 570 port outs in January alone. We have no problem processing port outs, and we encourage it if it will better meet your number needs. In addition, we list all needed and required porting credentials within the control panel so you can initiate a port request with another carrier without waiting on us. Further more, we've built the system to auto approve port out requests, and not sit on them for three full business days like we are allowed. We believe in speedy and timely support, because we actually believe in meeting number needs, and in no way targeted your one number to hold on to out of the rest.
All that to say, sometimes there are problems along the way, but with enough persistence they are usually overcome. Unfortunately, it's "along-the-way" that we garner the bad rep for "holding" on to numbers when often times it's revealed the new carrier is not submitting correctly. For example, some carriers refuse to acknowledge the warning DUE DATE CANNOT BE MET and simply tell their customers that the number is inactive or does not exist. This is simply untrue, and when the requested due date is backed up a couple of days, magically the port out request receives a confirmed transfer date.
There are other times when new carriers swear they are sending the port request, only to find they've been sending to the wrong carrier, and by default we cannot see the port request. Or come to find out, they were attempting to submit through their wireless portal, because they failed to acknowledge the type of number porting.
We never wish to have frustrated customers, but we also realize we cannot win them all. In the end, we don't get paid until we perform, and we've always refunded monies for ports we cannot complete. Of course, we don't even get paid until a number ports into our system. So, we work for free on the front end, and will refund money on the back end if we truly cannot get it done.
Unfortunately, what tends to happen, is threats of FCC complaints are thrown around, and mud slinging on review sites begin. We understand it's part of the business, because there's an automatic assumption that online businesses are out to get you, but we find it disappointing and below our shared humanity.
Please contact support with your real name so we can continue addressing this matter, unless it really is "you", then please allow 2-3 days for your $21 refund to post to your credit card account, and we'll keep working for free until we can get this done for you.
