Overall these guys did a great job. Purchased and ported about 12 numbers.
The Bad: You should know upfront that porting is SLOW, even though its VOIP other VOIP providers such as broadband.com manage to port within minutes so I don't understand why number barn can't, but maybe it is truly out of there control. They should also update their website to say ports happen in 5-7 days instead of 3 - 5 because based on my conversations with the winning carrier they demand 5 days as a minimum so why advertise 3-5 days if your going to require 5 as a minimum.
The Good: Prices are good, number availability is awesome, and customer service is responsive and fast.
My wish list: speed up porting and lower the monthly cost for your various plans, especially for folks with multiple numbers.
Overall, I recommend them without hesitation.
Beyond happy with this company, bought a phone number on 4/19. Emailed customer support to clarify a few questions I had on 4/20, got the info that I needed and ported. My phone with the new number was active in less than 15 minutes. Absolutely no hassle.
Hey Eric, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're so thrilled to hear that it was a good one! Please reach out to our support team if we can ever be of service to you.
Numberbarn took our phone number of 20 years after our credit card expired. They did email us, but we missed the message and they took our phone number and sold it to someone else! They could have called! What a scam!
Hi Donald, I’m very sorry to hear that this was your experience with NumberBarn. We do make several attempts to reach our customers before canceling an account for nonpayment and it looks like in this case, these were missed. I realize this doesn’t help in your case but we are most certainly evaluating any ways that we can improve our billing practices moving forward.
Their service is excellent!
I couldn't believe by paying $10 and a call to my cell phone provider, I can have an excellent phone number with the same plan, device, and even sim card!
Although they don't provide a phone number for customer service, their communication by email is perfect: quick response, comprehensive and detailed. I strongly recommend it.
This is terrific news, Amanda. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful review!
I was hesitant to cancel my old unused home phone service. I've had the number for 12 years! We rarely used it and it was getting expensive to keep. NumberBarn was cheap and I was surprised at how easy it was to sign up and transfer my number. So far notifications work great, I'm saving over $40 a month and I don't get all those spam telemarketer calls anymore.
Nothing was smooth, they destroy you in charges not discussed in the porting. Nothing is selling and they made it sound like they are advertising like crazy when in fact they are not putting in any effort so they can continue to rob you with all kinds of charges. They absolutely will not take a phone call and says it saves us money. I am stuck paying hundreds a month for nothing.
Hi Larry, I'm sorry to hear about this experience but believe that our customer support team was able to work through these concerns with you since the time you posted this review. I've sent you a private message and hope you'll contact me back if there's anything else we can do to help.
I have been trying to port my numbers over to Number barn for over a month with no success. They will no give you a phone number to actually contact them. They are a total waste of any bodies time. GO somewhere else
No customer support, sporadic service
We actually need to speak to our customers so a number that works "sometimes" is not a great option. Customer service is beyond terrible, no phone support and takes hours for an "auto response" ummmk
We're so sorry to learn of your challenging experience getting your account up and running but glad we were able to finally connect and get everything working as expected. We're always here to help anytime you need it.
So these guys claim they take up to 5 days to port. Not the case. We have Benn getting extension request at my new carrier from them almost everyday. Each time they request 3-4 days to port. Complete wait of of time. Don't port from here.
Hello Yuriy! Thank you for your comments. Numbers with NumberBarn are classified by the FCC as landline/wireline numbers. In the majority of cases, porting takes anywhere from 3 to 7 business days, up to 10 business days, to port to and from our system. When porting away, it is always recommended to have the gaining carrier select at least 5 business days out. This is what we communicate on our website and this is what we have communicated with you via our support emails. We know it can be frustrating when this happens, but so long as the gaining provider selects a date at least 5 business days out, the port is approved and the new provider does not resubmit the request. Each new resubmission can restart the porting time frame, which isn't fun. We look forward to continuing our work with you and to a successful port out to your new provider!
I went to Number Barn to acquire a glamor number for my business. They were able to get the number I wanted and an alternate that could have been snagged by a competitor (extra $2.00/month). The phone number was available almost immediately for use and was capable of routing to my smart phone or my VRU.
I would have given 5 stars however the feature for adding the company name to the outbound dialer (CNAM) was not available as a feature on the site and had to be requested through customer service instead of as an option at the initial time of set up.
They are adding the CNAM to my phone line so all outbound calls display my company name on caller ID instead of the company phone number.
Customer Service reps are timely and were able to add this feature to my profile however indicated it takes up to a month to replicate across the data servers.
Hi Michael, thank you for your review along with a bit of feedback about our service. First of all, I'm glad you were able to find a great new number for your business.
I do also confirm that you are correct that currently, our customer support team can configure the CNAM value for your number. At some point, we do plan to allow customers to update this on their own and you can trust that I'm checking on the status of that project.
Take weeks to reply, doesn't have a customer support number, still being charge the full year although I didn't use the service and requested refund because they took too long to reply to the cancellation request. Highly do NOT recommend using this service what so ever. Use Verizon One Talk.
Hi Hector, We're sorry to hear about your subpar experience. It looks like there may have been some confusion around how licensing numbers works. A member of our team reached out to you a few days ago to discuss this further. We'd still love to hear more about your experience and come to a mutually beneficial resolution.
Sons birthday and I got him a local easy to remember #.
2 weeks before i needed his # to be ported over the request was put in with ATT and it keeps getting rejected. I get distracted with work and then 7 days before his birthday we figure out the company the # was coming from had all these crazy restrictions. Including a 10 day waiting period. I reach out to number barn and start working with Kylie. She calls ATT, she calls the company that owns the #. Makes it work in TIME! Considering what I paid for a phone # she did'nt have to do that! But she did. I was really surprised, AND she was super sweet and in constant contact the entire process. AWESOME! Thank you
AWESOME is right! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback, Joe. We appreciate YOU! Kylie is such a rockstar and we'll definitely be sharing this with our entire team.
My daughter is out of the country for 8 months and we wanted to save her number. This service is exactly what we wanted. Prices are very fair, customer service is outstanding and they know everything about number porting. Very professional. Wish I had more occasion to need to use it. Love.
Thank you for the fantastic review, Susan!
I had a difficult porting in situation that could not be resolved by TMobile or ATT. Number Barn figured out the problem and found a solution within 3 days and the number transferred over within 5 days. Customer service was very responsive and helpful. Service has been very reliable.
YAY! Happy to hear about your porting experience, Robert. We were delighted to have helped you through the process.
I'm a skeptic by nature and always do a very thorough investigation into a company before I use them. I was pleased with their customer service and rapid response time via chat. They are on the ball and answered all my questions. She stayed on the chat with me while I entered my information to port over my number. I was paying comcast $36 a month and now I only pay $6 a month and have the number forwarded to my cell phone. I don't understand why anyone would write a bad review unless you're a dummy. Only a stupid person would write a bad review about this company. It was an easy process and now the number works fine. I'm very pleased.
Mark, you rock! Thanks for your great review. We're happy that you're a skeptic (in this day and age, you should be) and that you did your research. We're also beyond happy you had such a great experience to bring your number over and save money with us!
Wife and I are moving out of state and wanted new local area code phone numbers for our cell phones. But I wanted the ability to pick my phone number. I wanted both of our numbers to be similar and easy to remember. For $26 each, I got some really nice phone numbers. It took and bit of time to port them over, about 3 to 5 days (one was over a weekend). But NumberBarn was great with e-mail communications and the whole process went very smoothly. I would not hesitate to use them again. Thanks NumberBarn.
We're stoked that you and your wife both found similar and easy to remember phone numbers here with us at the Barn. Now if only moving out of state could be that simple :)
I purchased a number to port out through number barn on a whim. Honestly I was doubtful. As I expected I had some issues. Justin and Holly got the job done. They are accessible on weekends and relentless. I'm a happy customer with a sick phone number you can memorize driving 99mph plus, in a residential neighborhood,
During Christmas light session,
In the middle of a hurricane.
I live In Florida.
End of story.
Hi Ian. We have to agree. You did get a sick phone number. Well done! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience.
I have purchased 2 numbers from numberbarn to be ported away. The whole process went on very smoothly and both numbers were ported out without any hassle. There was no customer service assistance over the phone, but the responses to my emails were prompt and to the point. I highly recommend numberbarn.
Hi Soheil, We're absolutely thrilled to hear about your great experience! Thank you so much for sharing.
I had an excellent experience with NumberBarn. Initially their website wasn't working properly, but they immediately responded to my customer service inquiries, fixed the issue, and allowed me to complete my transaction. I recommend NumberBarn!
Hi Joshua,
It was certainly a pleasure to work through this issue with you and I'm so glad you got the awesome number you wanted. Thanks for the terrific review!
~Jeremy
I was switching a few phones from different carriers to a single carrier and one number became unavailable. We got the phones for a special deal but that included bringing our own numbers. Customer service from the new carrier actually suggested trying to buy a new number instead of paying the penalty of full price for the phone. I found NumberBarn online and decided to give it a shot. New number was about $16 and the phone was up and running in about 48 hours. I wrote this review on another site too but I assure you I'm a real customer and this is a real review. They get my recommendation.
Hi Justin, I'm so glad to hear that you got a great number at a great price. If you run into any issues at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team. Thanks for a terrific recommendation!
Answer: Hi, Oswaldo! Our service does allow you to port a number to and from a mobile provider of your choice. The rate center of the number must be supported by each carrier, however. You can also forward your number with NumberBarn to an outside cell phone number.
Answer: Hi Damian, great question! Yes, once porting to NumberBarn is 100% complete, you can definitely cancel your service with your provider. Just make sure there aren't any additional telephone numbers or services on that plan that are important to you. Also, just keep in mind that if you have a contract coming up soon to port well in advance of that contract expiration. Porting is usually pretty quick but it's best to allow 3-10 business days just to be safe. Let me know if you have other questions. You can reach our support team and find other solutions at https://help.numberbarn.com/hc/en-us.
Answer: Hey Ephraim, thank you for your question. In general, porting each way can take 3-10 business days because we're moving the number from wireless status to wireline and then back to wireless. Practically speaking, the whole process could take as little as a few days if everything works totally smoothly. You'll want to review these couple of articles from our help center and please reach out to our support team if we can help: https://help.numberbarn.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022308114-Step-by-Step-Guide-How-to-port-in-a-number https://help.numberbarn.com/hc/en-us/articles/4913568732567-How-to-port-a-number-to-Verizon-Wireless
Answer: Hi Michael, thank you for your question. We actually only have access to United States and Canada numbers but we are able to forward calls to Nigeria numbers. You can see our international forwarding rates here: https://www.numberbarn.com/international-rates Let me know if you have any further questions.
Answer: Hi Thanh. If you are having trouble logging into your NumberBarn account, please reach out to our support team via email to support@numberbarn.com or through our help center: https://help.numberbarn.com/hc/en-us
Answer: Hi Olga! Yes, so long as we can support the rate center of your Canadian number, yes, you can port it to us and answer calls on your new Australian number. Please check here to verify we can support your Canadian number: https://www.numberbarn.com/basket?step=lnp
Answer: Hi Jackie! We're noticing this option is not showing up on some customer's accounts. Please reach out to us via support@numberbarn.com for assistance in changing your plan.
Answer: Hi Laura, absolutely! So long as your number is active, you can take it to any supporting provider :)
Answer: The guarantee is this, Steve, keep your number active and pay your bill each month. So long as that happens, your number will remain yours.
Answer: Hi Steve! Great question - so long as your number remains active with your Canadian provider throughout the entire transfer to us, the number would stay with you :)
NumberBarn has a rating of 3.5 stars from 84 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with NumberBarn most frequently mention customer service and cell phone. NumberBarn ranks 4th among Call Forwarding sites.
Daniel, thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and are so happy you found those numbers that you needed! You're right - porting to and from us might take longer than anyone would prefer. Numbers with NumberBarn are classified by the FCC as landline/wireline numbers. Due to this classification, ports may take anywhere from 3 to 7 business days, up to 10 business days, to port away. We do have this listed on our website as well as in our email correspondences. I'll work with my team to add it to anything else that might help customers know what to expect moving forward.
