I discovered so many things about my family, especially about my mom who never liked to talk about her past. I also learned that I had a much larger family than I thought and that several members of this family reside in the United States. I was also fortunate to read in old newspapers many details about the births and deaths of my ancestors. In short, I have had so many surprises learning certain things and I continue to learn. It's not always easy to make a family tree, but it's still a real pleasure.
My heritage has the records and their Omni Plan is a great idea to further enhance your education with webinars through My Legacy and the plan includes everything hing without additional payments needed for add ons. They definitely have your interests in mind not just revenue making.
I first joined MyHeritage a few years back as I found that some other genealogy websites only offered a limited range of features. Since joining I have been able to further my reserach and have linked up with distant relaives
I very much enjoy learning about my family, extended family and even those in my church family. So much history has been opened up to me. I better appreciate the culture and Heritage that has been handed down to me. MyHeritage has made it easy and fun to discover facts about those that I have only heard of from Grandparents. This is a wonderful and enjoyable way to preserve my family history. At our family reunions everyone enjoys the things I have found and I have referred several to join MyHeritage.
After paying for the service, I was unable to navigate the platform. I had a call from customer we service who tried to describe how I could do this, I was left none the wiser. To date I have still not received the heritage I for action I originally applied for. For me, it was a total waste of money.
I have been a member of My Heritage for a number years, the staff are helpful, informative, respectful and pleasant to speak to. I had several questions about using the site and they were very helpful in helping me to understand and how to use the site. The search information is also very helpful in finding relatives and family trees.
I found My Heritage very easy to use. I like being able to use the product in ways that suited me, as there are a number of options available in building the tree. Being able to turn the end tree into a poster or ebook is excellent. Backing up the tree is easy. The search engine very easy to use. The available information is very wide. All in all I found the product excellent. Occasionally I encountered a few glitches and the service was repaired very quickly. My only disappointment was the cost and losing access to the tree when not renewing the package. I think allowing access to your own tree for a small fee a year would be a good option. If any further research was then wanted an additional fee to access certain areas of research for a period of at least 3 months would be greatly appreciated.
Too manx emails day by day with record matches/ findings of relatives, far beside the main tree. I am meaning cousins and their spouses families. I would appreciate an option to define the depth of reported matches, for example to reduce the famiy tree to father/mother, grand father/mother, great grandparents and so on.
I have found My Heritage to be a great help in building my family tree and adding information and data on a daily basis. There is so much data available and I have traced many family and friends still living.
I have not explored more in depth contact. With all the matches, I have been keeping But have not contacted those individuals. Always great to see the new matches, and someday I will start doing that, but in the meantime watching new ones appear!
For the most part I'm happy with MyHeritage. Only finding the time to work on it is an issue. So time consuming. I have little time to spend on it. Another issue is I was promised a DNA Kit for signing up
For another 2 years. I have never received the kit.
As a regular subscriber over several years, have found the MyHeritage program online very comprehensive, with continuing additions of world wide collections of records, historical papers, photographs, DNA matches, video clips, links to other family trees.
At times other things take priority over the subscription, but it is reassuring that my family tree is backed up and safe with MyHeritage. Also MyHeritage offer a free downloadable program - Family Tree Builder - which can be synchronized with my online MyHeritage genealogy Tree. Appreciate too, ongoing valuable support offered by the MyHeritage Team. Thank you
I have been delighted with all the information I have obtined from Myheritage, and the resources and information it provides. However contacting the organisation with enquiries and questions, not on their FAQ list is a nightmare.Providing information about renewal costs is also poor, as is trying to find information about subscriptions insufficient.Often advice about renewal subscription and loyalty rewards is incorrect. These issues need to be resolved as Myheritage continues to satisfy the needs of family researchers, and I hope steps are made to undertake these changes.
I have now reached back to the 1000's. I am having the time of my life building the life tree of Me, my wife, my mother and my father. I won't tell you all that I have found. You will have to view my tree for that. Have Fun...
My only problem is the amount of information. If I were to use all of it, it would be a full time job for me! Anyway I have almost reached my goals, now I know a lot more about my ancesters and their history. Enneth
I was centralizing all my research with MyHeritage. It had everything. Tree, records, and DNA. Then you halted the ability to upload DNA from other sources. I get you want to make money but you should just charge for uploads. Those of us with relatives who passed can now no longer centralize anywhere. So now I will do that at gedmatch and I am indifferent to MyHeritage vs anywhere else. It was your DNA tools that mattered.
When I started my search for a family in December 2015. I never had one. For all the years in NYS to get your original birth certificate, you had to go to court. That all changed around 2017. My parents lived in Norway and worked on a cargo freighter traveling the world and that's how I came to be. MyHeritage went to work and found out who my birth parents are. They came up with way more than they had expected. I now have birth parents, uncles, and aunts. I also know that I have over eight generations of family dating back to the 1500s with name, Born/death, etc., etc., etc... I call that more than a 5-Star experience. That was the best present I could ever have wished for,
I think I know my ancestors, but in the last few months me and my husband learn a lot. I make people crazy about it, every time I found something out I WhatsApp my sisters and info them. Me and my husband is going to do DNA.
I have had a fun and fulfilling time creating my MH Family Tree. There is so much information there, and I have only scratched the surface of what is available. I find the cross referencing to other MH trees and information extremely helpful. I also like that MH references other geneology sites so that you can compare and verify information.
Has been great until i got the notice for renewal, it is just too much for a pensioner to pay. I up graded from basic to premier 2 years ago and thought that was it. Imagine my surprize when I got a notice that my account will end unless I pay over $300, even with a discount, I just couldn't afford to renew.
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team (support@myheritage.com).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to support@myheritage.com and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
