Still waiting for test results before I rush into print. Keen to start, but am overwhelmed by advice and clues etc about people who are really the ancestors of a woman somewhat distant from me by marriage to a younger member of my family. Interesting yes, but not right now. And my husband's known ancestors keep flooding in also. We've got all that already. Right now I want details about my own immediate ancestors who are somewhat elusive at times. Thank you for the amazing work you do though.
PS I cannot change the date below. It is 11 Feb here in New Zealand right now. Half gone already.
Has been enlighten to find so much about relatives and the history attached to them, use all the resources from My heritage as it can only improve your understanding of your family tree, have found unknown cousins and are now in regular contact
The health report was vague. The breakdown of DNA was somewhat disappointing as you group Western Europe and England together. I'm awake if my ancestry back to 1799,1794, 1781. U was hoping just to get at least one generation beyond that but to no bc avail sadly
I am very satisfied with MyHeritage and appreciate all the advancements made in the years I have been using it. I look forward to any improvements you can make to ensure that people get to correct connections wherever possible. I see far too many multiple relations for the same person in the matches I get, if there is an absolute correct proven relationship available can that be prompted to the user when creating new entries.
Overall, Going back into my history has been an awesome experience. Hasn't been easy to tie up loose ends on some occasions. Happily, with the help with hints etc and another site the transition has been very rewarding. The only downside is the price of renewing subscriptions when you know "the end is nigh" and there isn't much more I can add.
The cost of full membership, about £230.00 per year, is maybe 50% more than I am prepared to pay.
If I was using it 3 or 4 times a week doing good sessions, then maybe it could represent decent value.
Unfortunately, I might use My Heritage once a week, probably only 2 or 3 times a month, which is my fault, but I do not have the time to put the input in to the system, due to my time being taken up by my grandchildren duties.
For someone who can devote their spare time researching information, and thus finding results, it probably is good value, but for me, I am only a part time player and therefore cannot get anywhere near value for money, unfortunately.
I have been able to list all my family members and even the ones I didn't know existed, as they became available for my consideration.
I have had a problem with MyHeritage the entire time I have subscribed. I have sent numerous messages to customer support explaining my issue. One message finally got answered, about 10 days later. They gave me links to very basic info that did not even address my issue. I wrote back, reexplaining the problem. No reply since. I have DNA kits with 3 other companies and all 3 have considerably better support (and benefit). I wanted to use MyHeritage because they have more European subscribers, but now I realize they really just want your money and have no real desire to provide support once they get your money. I suspect they will eventually end up like 23&me: on the chopping block.
There are two sides to this, finding out your ethnic origin, and also tracking the spread of your ancestors across the generations. I think all people should do at the very least a DNA analysis, and see what they're really made of. After that if they wish to do a tree, it is completely their freedom to do so. Personally, I started with a tree and then did the DNA. I've continued to progress my tree, although it has slowed down a lot now. I still hope for further findings in the future.
Since joining MyHeritage and submitting a DNA test in 2021, I have been very impressed by the data they supply me. It has led to gaining valuable insight into my mother's as well as my father's heritage. Some of the modern ones have come forward to give me additional information about certain ones within theirs, which has filled in the gaps where they appear in mine. Highly recommended.
I have used it for many years and each year it has new information about my ancestors. So, it's the best hobby I've had and at the same time I'm doing a very interesting book to share with each member of my family.
I have been surprised at how much information was available so quickly. However I soon used up my allocation based on my plan. The only thing that has prevented my journey is the extra money it will cost.
I have been a member of MyHeritage for several years now. I took advantage of the DNA program last year just out of curiosity. When the results came back I was shocked! It revealed that I had a half-brother I was unaware of. Our mother died when I was just three. I have one biological brother who is 1 1/2 years younger than me. I am now 65 y/o. Apparently my mother had him 7 years before me and gave him up for adoption. He grew up an only child. He now has 2 brothers! We have already met in person and now talk on the phone frequently. We have another reunion coming up this Summer!
Thank you MyHeritage!

Looks like it will provide some good info once it is processed. Mailing the sample from Canada was very expensive and it should clearly state that it must be shipped as a small package declaring what is in the package. This confusion resulted in package being returned and then I had to paying postage again. Total cost to ship package was about $15.00. Also should state when purchasing that return postage is NOT included.
It's easier than you might think to enter birth and death dates that clash with the births of children. I have more than a thousand people in my extended family tree now, and Consistency Checker keeps track of all the mistakes entered, so I can go and do research and fix those! Overall, you have a stronger, more accurate ancestry database. This is the goal.
It allows me to to delve deep into my roots and find family. The main purpose of this is to leave a legacy for my grandchildren and their grandchildren. They say to know where you are going it helps to know from whence you came! My Customer Relations Manager went out of his way and was very helpful and patient as I went through challenges renewing my subscription. I am so happy we achieved that at last!
The suggested links are quite often correct and can lead to greater detail and further family links.
One issue that could make things easier is when a child is linked to the wrong father in a multi marriage relationship just swapping the parent couple rather than deleting all relationships.
Identified several 'human errors' and ideas for other relations. Easy to use this system and very informative
I have gained so much information from the MyHeritage Site it's hard to really put into words. The amount of ancestors in my Family Tree has doubled since I joined My Heritage, it's GREAT!
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.

Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.

Please right click on the FTB icon on your desktop, and click on 'Properties': Once you have opened the 'Properties' menu then click on the 'Compatibility' tab: If the field "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" is checked, and it says below "Windows 7", uncheck the box.
