MyHeritage is generally well-regarded for its user-friendly platform and extensive database, which many customers find invaluable for tracing their ancestry and connecting with relatives. Users appreciate the regular updates and the powerful search capabilities that facilitate discoveries. However, concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly related to billing issues and the difficulty of reaching support. Some users have reported feeling overwhelmed by the volume of information and have encountered challenges in verifying data. Overall, while the service is praised for its features, improvements in customer support and communication are necessary to enhance user satisfaction.

In a nutshell, it works well. Value for money, maybe a 7 out of 10, after a while I found I would need additional add ons like Newspapers to get the full picture which incur extra fee's. To create the basic tree My Heritage works very well, to add all the leaves takes much longer and needs more $$$ spent. Starting from scratch the building of a family tree can be a rewarding experience, as you get deeply involved this site has some limitations, still I consider it a useful site to be connected with.
I have the following problems: In family trees, there are for example two (or more) different dates of birth/marriages or deaths. It's not possible to enter them into the family tree until they are verified in the registry record.
In the case of additional children and siblings that I don't want to include further in the family tree, I miss the option to mention them in a note, so that they would be visible but not subject to Smart/Record Matches searches.
If I make a mistake by accident and assign a person to someone else or if some person is accidentally listed twice, then it's very difficult to fix this error.
I am constantly receiving emails from MyHeritage with records of my ancestors in census data, marriage registries, death indexes and more. I would normally have to do all this research on my own but MyHeritage delivers it on a silver platter. In addition, there are links provided to other members who have the same ancestors but often have details different from my own. A win-win!
So happy that I enrolled with MyHeritage.
When I started to investigate my family tree(s) I was astonished to see how far I could go back. There is a lot of information on the site and when you put a family member's name in your tree, there may be soon a warning that other members of MH also have this person in their tree and probably with more members you did not even know that they existed. And so you help each other.
Smart Matches allows you to import inconsistent birthday or death dates relative to the existing family tree. Of coarse, after a certain time MyHeritage warns me. However, the previous date is gone. Good would be, when during the importation of data a warning would be shown.
I had a problem importing to my correct account and identifying myself as the main person. I could not use the relationship tab. I got a call from your representative who walked me through the process. It was a No Caller ID which I don't normally answer. I was super happy with the quick response
I try to keep up with the notices sent to me by email, but if I get them caught up, within about ten days I have many more than I can handle. I would be great if you could slow them down by about 75%.
MyHeritage is a remarkably good resource for the integration by the user of both an extraordinarily broad variety of formal genealogy sources but also of a vast number of its personal users' own family trees and associated histories.
It started out with only two of my grandparents. Now I've accumulated over 3000 people and the story continues. It has been a tremendous journey and now a table conversation of our family tree. Looking forward to uncovering more of my family line. Well done to My Heritage for a broad and comprehensive range of records dating back almost 700 years
After starting my family tree with 3 generations last year it is growing up rapidly to 2.500 relatives. Using DNA test increased results a lot and could be approved.
Using AI technology is improving preformance.
An easy user interface, with many options and tools to make your genealogical journey enjoyable. I've found it an excellent source for UK and European records and the smartmatch feature enables you to compare your information with others, or gather entirely new information. Another great feature is their Theory of Family Relativity which facilitates family connection across several trees, and "Cousin Finder". However it must be kept in mind that these tools require a subscription membership which is ultimately worthwhile if you are serious about your genealogical journey.
I've been with My Heritage for a while now and enjoy the looking through the helpful hints they send me. This has helped me yo follow one branch of my tree to 1520. And other branches I hadn't realised, like a French ancestors family before he came to marry a Yorkshire lass and make England his home.
Surprised by the long line of past ancestors, the earliest of which, up to now, goes back to 1230.
Humanity is one long melting pot; we are all related and no one is more special than the other. Thanks to My heritage for making this human wealth of information available.
I was initially impressed with the new ancient origins feature and am still now even more certain of my origin by using this. In fact what I previously knew from before has now been practically confirmed to me so I am very happy about this. However, upon further investigation and navigating the same way as a few years ago whilst using the site, I discovered another feature which is crucial proof to my connection to a certain group of people is no longer available. It was the subtribe group and had very important information showing their religious tribes and already displayed how them and I are connected. I feel cheated now. This is all because of a written law wrote by men, not by the God of my people. The tribes and identity or rather the blood connection would pass through the father originally, not the mother. If you can get this feature back up then you will receive a 10 out of 10 from me and probably many others who think the same. I need you to restore this feature.
I've been using My Heritage for about 13 years and have thoroughly enjoyed using the app, but more importantly the discoveries, record matches, super searches and the research features have allowed me to build an extensive tree and expand as more information becomes available. I would recommend My Heritage to anyone building their family tree.
I have parents from Russia and Poland and I am aware of the difficulty of gaining information. However my father was in England for many years before coming to Australia, yet information on his emigration is low. The other side of the family are from England, and this website has abundant information supplied on a regular basis via notifications. I have to search separately within Australian departments and archives for relevant information. The Anglicisation of foreign names is overwhelming and it is difficult to guess what the original name was changed into. Heritage is a long process with so many twists an turns, it maybe better than a crime novel. I will persevere.
I think the title speaks for itself. What could you offer costumers like me who have reached their personal goal with the family tree. My current premium package is far too expensive to just maintain what you have fulfilled.
Basically, I think it's a good program - but for searching for data, I think Famylisearch is better. The best thing about this program is that no one else can access the family tree you've created. It works very well to show matches with other researchers, so it's much easier to decide whether you're on the right track with your research or not. I like that the program puts the matches together smoothly despite the names entered in different languages. However, for example, when entering data, it would be much easier to enter the date continuously, not this year-month-day system. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the program.
This is my favourite Family History site to use because it is easy for me to navigate. It is the most user friendly app that I have consistently used and recommended to others as well. I am currently 68 years young, and honestly not very savvy when it comes to computers or using my iPad. The simplicity of this app however has given me confidence, and I use it regularly.
I've gotten matches and documents from My Heritage that I haven't been able to get from some of the other apps that I used. Especially dealing with Maryland records such as birth, marriage, and death. I was extremely surprised to find birth records for some of my family members that midwives were present at the birth giving me another surname that is in my genealogy tree
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team (support@myheritage.com).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to support@myheritage.com and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
