I ordered an item from ModCloth and it was my 1st experience buying through this website. Unfortunately I did not like the item that I ordered but I did not want to be discouraged from giving the company another try by returning the item and ordering an alternative. After a week I called to find out what the status of my return was, and instead of getting someone that was helpful and professional, I got someone that was abrupt and keen to cut me off in mid sentence. What made it even scarier was that this person that represented ModCloth was a supervisor (Sam S.)... I'm not happy with my 1st and hopefully last experience with ModCloth and their customer support line. I am a veteran of the Service Industry and sadly this is a perfect senario of losing a new and what would have been a loyal customer.
Their clothes are so cute, but every time I order (three times now, embarassingly... I kept hoping the previous orders were flukes) the clothes arrive in poor condition, often to the point of being unwearable. They use cheap fabric that is often more seethrough and coarse than it should be and they are sloppily assembled. Adorable designs, but the quality simply doesn't merit the excessively high price of every item. One of my orders did not leave their warehouse for a month after it was placed and I was unable to return the inferior items because they took more than 30 days to reach me. Customer service is a joke and will take a very nasty tone if you come across as being the least bit critical of the site or product. I'm quite sad to say I will never order from them again because I am yet to find another site with a comparable selection.
I placed an order on a dress on june 10th and here we are june 20th still no dress. It took a full 3 days for it to actually ship. The order was placed during the week, so theres no excuse of even a weekend interfering. Its seemingly forever in transit. Its literally coming from two states away. Modcloth seems to be lost, where most websites I order from with equal quality and priced clothing offer FREE shipping on all orders, they still charge (quite a bit at that) for very slow service. $11 shipping on ONE dress that cost $24? Thats criminal. And to add insult to injury its taking 2 weeks to get it. I used to love this site and order all the time but their shipping and prices have been really deterring that. After this dress is received, I'm sad to say theyve lost a decade long customer.
I placed an order for a dress recently and recieced my package quickly from them. I could track it to make sure it wasn't lost in transit to Alaska. I love that they sent gift wrap along with a thank you. The sizing was a little vague but I went with my gut and fit a small still. I was also at a holiday party at work and complimented a dress that was also purchased on Modcloth.com :)
I had ordered a small ring holder and when it was delivered someone had stolen it right out of the box. I called and they qere very helpful and immediately shipped a new one and it got to me in 2 days.
For a long time I'd look on their website but I wouldn't buy anything because some of the things that are cute are unreasonably expensive. It's not like they sell high qality stuff there, I see same clothes at other stores for way less.
Finally I decided to buy some wall "art". At the same exact day I bought a painting from urbanoutfitters.com, which I received within 3 days. My modcloth order was being "processed" for over two weeks. When I finally got annoyed with them I messaged asking if I could cancel and I was told no I'm too late for that. When I asked about returns the person who works at modcloth told me she'd send me pre-paid return postage. Well I got my stuff after a month, no return postage included. The "art" was tiny and cheap looking. I immediately deleted their app and told everyone I thought would shop there, not to.
I figured the only thing good that would come out of them being bought by Walmart was more affordability but I thought wrong. I hadn't visited the site since Walmart but always loved Modcloth's swim selection. The swimwear costs are higher than ever before with no discounts to be found anywhere. The dillema of forking over 100 dollars or more on a swimsuit stressed me out so much, that I just closed the webpage and decided I would just head to target again this year.
I'd like to start off saying I was a long time modcloth shopper! I started shopping there around 2008 and I made some very memorable purchases with them graduation dresses, to my wedding dress. I shopped at modcloth 3-4 times a year, usually for a piece for an event. This year I placed an order for a red dress and was severely disappointed with the quality of the garmet for 60.00 it felt more or less like a Fast fashion dress. It came wrinkled! I was surprised how different it apparead from the photo.
I had an order for a jacket not too long before the dress and again the item was around 70.00 and looked really cheap. The prices seem to rise and the quality does not.
I don't think I'll be ordering again, and if I do it will be at a way discounted price on eBay!
I ordered jeans. They sent me a really ugly dress that wasn't even my size. I emailed them to fix it and they said they were out of the jeans that I ordered now and will send me a shipping label for the dress but refused to send packaging and expect me to get packaging for it! Didn't offer anything to make up for the massive inconvenience! They finally gave me a "refund" and didn't even give all my money back!
Hi, Jillian. Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry for any disappointment with your order. Incorrect items being sent is not typical, but all of our orders are packaged by hand, so mistakes can occur. We are always happy to fix the issue, as best we can. I'm sorry that we did not have your item to re-send, and for any frustration that we sadly do not have raw packaging material that we are able to send out to customers. If your refund amount is incorrect, please inform our Customer Care team right away, and they will look into this for you, as we want to ensure that you are refunded the full amount you paid for the item you didn't receive. I apologize, again, for any inconvenience, and I will be sure to share your feedback with the appropriate teams.
This is a horrible company. When you ask them for measurements for some of their clothing they never respond or don't get back to you till what you are interested in is out of stock. I had high hopes that I would be able to find a cute dress to wear to a birthday party, found a couple and chatted in to get the measurements to make sure that they would fit me before I bought them and the agents that I talked to told me that they would put in a request to get the measurements. It took about 1 week to get the first measurements and then I couldn't get the measurements due to the dress being out of stock. The other 2 that I requested measurements for a week ago I have still not received an answer for. I found a dress that I like at another site and they responded to me right away. They will be getting my money and this company will not.
I love looking at the Modcloth website on a regular basis because I think the clothes, shoes, and accessories they have available are always super duper cute. But the clothes and shoes are way too expensive and I could never justify spending $65 on a sweater or $100+ on a non-formal dress. The accessories are always super cute, unique, and affordable though.
Hi, Brooke. Thank you for your honest feedback! Please rest assured that it will be shared with the appropriate teams.
Every item that I looked at in their Cyber Monday sale was final sale. How am I supposed to buy any type of clothing or shoe item with confidence from an online seller that won't let me return an item if I dislike the way it looks once I receive it. I could understand this policy if I was trying the item on in store and able to test the comfort and see how it fits my body but this is not the case. It is also shady that the notification that the item is final sale is the same color and size as the notification that it is a door buster deal, the words final sale blend in with everything else. I looked at several garmets before I noticed the final sale notification then went back to check the other things I had been looking at and low and behold it was all final sale.
Hi, Katie. I'm very sorry for any disappointment. Items that are heavily discounted are typically non-returnable. I understand that finding the right fit can be challenging, which is why our ModStylists are always happy to help before you buy. You can reach them here: https://modcloth.com/pages/modstylists. I will certainly share your feedback regarding this, as well as the site messaging, with the appropriate teams.
Before placing my first ModCloth order, I was apprehensive because of the $25 shipping fee. After a comforting conversation with a customer service rep, I decided to go ahead with the order. I now have a slip from Canand Post telling me that there is an additional $40 fee if I want to pick up my item. This is an extremely large extra fee that now makes the dress unaffordable. When I first asked the customer service rep if they shipped to Cananda, they should have let me know about the extra hidden fee. I never would have ordered a $59.99 dress if I knew I'd have to pay $65 in shipping and fees.
So I have ordered for about three years from Modcloth but they are getting ridiculous! The past 2 orders I have had items were "oversold" and I get a 10% off code. 10% doesnt make up for the hassle, Like I had a wedding to go to and I had to run around to find a replacement dress and its just really disappointing work on your stock for goodness sakes! I get my hopes up on a cute outfit and then nothing, I have spent alot of money on your site but if this is the best you can do I'm going else where!
**** Update*** my 10% off code doesnt even work... Is this the best you can do... The items i bought during the 40% off sale are done and gone with and the code doesn't even work the one to make up for the fact you don't know your own stock!
Hi there, Amber. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience. I know that oversales can be disappointing. They are not typical, but during high sale times, they can happen, as our site is working to keep up with our physical inventory. Please rest assured that we are always working to avoid oversales, and we take your feedback very seriously. I will be sure to share it with the appropriate teams.
I ordered something online from them for Christmas. I ordered it on December 18th and paid $7.99 for shipping and handling. It was supposed to be here in 2-5 days! It is now December 28th (10 DAYS!) and I still don't have what I ordered. I tried to contact customer service but I can't reach anyone so I have to wait for a response to an email. It's well past Christmas and I have no idea when my order will arrive.
The first time I ordered, the dress I got was really good quality and the size was perfect.
The second time the order didn't come but they refunded me the dress cost and the shipping cost (even though it wasn't their fault that the dress got lost)!
TERRIBLE customer service. Literally, the WORST. They do not represent customer service in any capacity. Despite the appearance that someone is there to "chat" with, they don't listen or try to work with you at all. The "employee's" only recite protocols, never actually listening to their "customer's" needs... just reitering polical rhetoric and protocol the PC has idly spit out. Confidently, I say that Modcloth is the WORST online apparel site. Modcloth is the opposite of integrity, representing a fake and superficial business that cares nothing for their customers, the opposite of integrity. Modcloth opperates detached from the foundations of any respectable business, which I will never purchase from again.
Item never delivered and charged delivery and taxes when called to complain! Refused to give anything but store credit for an item NEVER DELIVERED. Wow. What do you think? Do I really need to say more?
Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience with your previous order. Please know that I have shared your feedback with the appropriate teams. If you have any outstanding questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at modcloth.com/help. We're always happy to assist with how you may be able to get in touch with your customs/duties office to be refunded for fees on an item you did not receive.
For my first modcloth order I ordered a 40 dollar sweatshirt and 70 dollar sweater. When they arrived the sweatshirt was slightly see-thru and way too short (for a very short waisted person) I can't imagine what someone with a long torso would do. That one was not soft or warm, wasn't sewn too well (the neckline was uneven) and seemed like the quality you would get at a much cheaper place like forever 21. The sweater was ill fitting and weird, though it was soft it didn't seem durable or worth 70! I've purchased nice durable cotton sweaters at the gap that were less $$. So I returned them, dropped off the return package Dec 3rd, it was the 10th before thier agent picked it up, and it has been in transit for weeks! It is now the 21st and it is still marked as "in transit" Is someone walking it there? Do they use the cheapest shipping service there is?

"I ordered a blouse as a test run for ordering my bridesmaid's dresses. It was an international order, I chose the USPS option (no tracking) and sat and waited. And Waited. AND WAITED. I also sent three emails to customer service in the meanwhile, asking about their estimate time of delivery, which went completeley unanswered. It's been two months now and I only learned that the order is in RETURN because I checked in on my account. Still no answer from any Modcloth representative, any reassurance or any offer to refund the money I paid for the blouse and their lousy shipping. Needless to say, I won't be going to their shop with my wedding business or recommending them to any other buyers."
Answer: The quality is about 80% rubbish (based on 10 purchases and only keeping 2 items). Hardly any of the dresses are lined and they're made with very cheap fabric, they're also way more expensive than they used to be but the quality hasn't improved. The stitching is usually uneven and the cloth cuts are terrible. You have to pay to return things, and from Australia it often costs more in postage to return something than the item itself, so I wouldn't bother.
Answer: Hi, Priscilla. We do not currently send out a physical catalog. I'm sorry for any disappointment!
Answer: Hey, Leslie! No need to worry- returns are pretty easy, especially if you're in the U.S., where we can provide a free return shipping label. At this moment, we are just a little behind on getting returns processed, due to heavy volumes during our recent sales, but we're working on getting caught up, ASAP! Our Customer Care team can also always help with any returns questions you have, as well as checking on returns statuses. You can reach them from 8am-11pm EST Monday-Friday, and 8am-9pm EST Saturdays, at modcloth.com/help!
Answer: Yes, there are full cash refunds and online store credit for the returns. It is annoying, but you would go into the purchase history and there is a section to return whatever items you want. Then when you have completed that section there should be a return Label paper that you print out from your email. It is a fedex paper. The returns should be free.
Answer: Used to be great. Horrible now. Never true to size. Cheaply made from China.
Answer: Be sure to refer to the sizing chart for your size. Also keep in mind that some items are in European or Asian sizes. Be sure to read the full desription of the item to know if you need to size up or down.
Hi there, Lori. I'm very sorry to hear that your order is taking longer than expected to arrive. While there have been some processing delays due to recent sale, shipping times after the packages leave us shouldn't be affected. We would certainly like to look into this for you, as we never want to leave you waiting for a package longer than our shipping time-frames on the site. We have received a high volume of emails recently, so the best way to contact us would be via phone at 888-495-9699, or chat at modcloth.com/help. We will be glad to look into this, right away, and help in any way that we can. In the meantime, please rest assured that I have shared your words with the appropriate teams.
