I have been a professional architect for more than 20 years. Our firm has designed houses for A list celebrities, top brands and many socialites internationally. We decided to place our portfolio on Houzz and follow their recommendations for marketing it etc. My experience with Houzz was nothing short of disastrous. A huge waste of money and time on my end. Do not waste your time if you are hoping to get leads through this site.
Order an item, that was not as advertised. Putting it together was like a jigsaw puzzle without a picture (no instructions included). When requested return, kept giving us false information until time to return expired...
So, I ordered two mirrors. One arrived within a reasonable timeframe, packaged well. It is decent although not as advertised. The mate arrived much later, packaged differently, and damaged. It also had a different hanging mechanism.
This is the second order I placed with them that was disappointing. Make a fool of me once, shame on you. Second time, I am done. Deleting the app. No more
Terrible site that uses third parties. They sent the wrong medicine cabinet and when I emailed them about the issue Houzz acted as if it was my fault. It seems they must have suppliers or their managers in Asia because they only replied during Asian business hours. After more than a week of back and forth they finally sent me the correct medicine cabinet.
I ordered a Over sized rug costing over 425.00. It was very poorly wrapped, There was parts badly frayed and and dirty. A few day later no refund, they have to wait for pictures and I explained thats not the customers problem. I expect a prompt credit and for them to take care of the paperwork for damages since the trucking company even reported it upon receipt that it was damaged and I refused upon receipt, returning it. WARNING Don't buy from this company, requesting a refund is lengthy. I will but several rooms of furniture's from Overstock rather than them, additionally compare their sale prices to other sites if you do decide to purchase, inflated and them marked down claiming big discounts.
I received my order along with someone else's. The item was very poorly made and extremely cheap looking. I have sent two return requests and am still waiting for further instructions on how to return my item. Apparently this company goes out of its way to make returns difficult. Unlikely I will ever order from them again.
I am a skilled experienced interior designer in Seattle.
I am now at the end of my year long contract with Houzz during which time I spent 2 thousand dollars.
My experience with this company has been terrible.
First they pressured me into the contract saying there was limited space and I needed to hurry up and sign up or loose my chance in the "zone" I needed to secure jobs.
I signed up and followed all their guidelines including numerous phone calls and emails from their "expert" staff and for NOTHING.
Sure I had leads, some that translated into actual meetings.
However in the end it was always the same story.
People looking for free advice, free ideas and schooling in the discipline of interior design.
People with every intention of doing it themselves once they realize they actually have to pay for this service.
I give Houzz a rating of 0 out of 10
I purchased a factory (not custom) chair from Houzz on December 13,2017. Houzz's web site said there were seven (7) in stock at the time of purchase. Houzz provided an estimated delivery date between January 24 and Feb 14,2018. With no updates in between, on February 12, Houzz notified me that the new delivery window estimate is March 30-April 20. Houzz appears to be a terrible source for purchasing items. One should stick to finding decorators using this site. Other sources had the chair available at the time I purchased. I will not purchase from this site again.
This site has nothing but folks who will come round but then completely waste your time, while also demanding a large call-out fee.
When you try to review someone who is taking money for nothing, Houzz moderate and remove the review, even though it is truthful and objective. You can't warn other users.
IF you are planning to sell on Houzz - DON'T.
They are NEVER on the side of the seller.
1. Buyers can leave whatever feedback they want. Sellers have no way of refuting them. This way buyers can really blackmail sellers into giving them deep discounts.
2. They say they vet out each review but it is not true at all. That's just an excuse for why they take so long to publish reviews from your clients and colleagues.
3. Seller support is a complete sham.
4. If you ever have a dispute with a buyer, they will always take the buyer's side. They tend to forget that it's the sellers which are paying their salaries through commissions.
5. Terrible advertising packages.
6. Terrible interface to manage your own products. They will take ages to review and approve the listing.
STAY AWAY FROM SELLING ON HOUZZ.COM. It is not worth it.
Delivery crew damaged our front steps while delivering this heavy desk and chipped the desk during the delivery process. The delivery company Schneider is denying the repair. Houzz has had almost two months to resolve this and still hasn't. I can't recommend a company with such poor customer service or that works with vendors that cause damage and then deny damage when my husband saw them with his own eyes. I've wasted hours on the phone and have gotten the run around. Extremely dissatisfied with this entire purchase process.
Hi Kristin,

Ordered a ceiling light May 22,2017. Arrived with some crucial parts missing. Have called customer service numerous times and sent many e-mails. Have been getting ignored and lied to. Now I can't even talk to them about returning this useless light! Will NEVER use Houzz again and will recommend my friends and family never order from here. Going on social media with this!
I got a rug that was even nicer than I expected, with free shipping, and consistent updates on where it was in the delivery process. It arrived earlier than promised, packaged extremely well and for an outstanding price. I am SO happy with the whole experience from start to finish. This is the third time I've ordered through Houzz, and it's been a great experience every time.
Got online on May 9 to purchase a $75 gift card for my mother. Got an error message 3 times before I gave up and ordered elsewhere. On May 26, two and a half weeks later, three charges hit my credit card. I called to resolve and was told gift cards were non refundable. This would be acceptable if I actually purchased and got an instant confirmation, but I didn't. The company's customer service is non existent. A customer calls telling you they received error messages, then you should be making every effort to correct the problem
The quality of project leads, demographic and user sold in your initial conversation by the sales team is very different from the leads generated. After purchase, I was informed that Houzz trade marketing program is "not a lead generating service", it's only an add-on service to the exposure. Bottom Line- It's expensive and not as sold.
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Houzz! Customer service was awesome with response time, answering questions, etc. After reading the reviews, I became concerned as I typically read them first, but didn't in this case because it is the glider/ottoman that my son and daughter in law wanted for their nursery and the price could not be beaten. Thank you Houzz and I will absolutely refer you to my family and friends.
I have only made one purchase from this site, but will definitely be a return customer. I had an issue with the arrival date of my items and they issued me a credit. I then had one of the components to one item I ordered (a fireplace broom) start to lose its bristles and after asking if replacements parts are available was given one surprisingly for free. I did not expect that at all!
Buyer beware! I ordered two bathroom vanities from Houzz and both arrived damaged and the finish was very poor quality with pores showing through all over. After contacting them, they only acted as a middleman between myself and the manufacturer, who required that I repackage the vanities in the same packaging or new packaging in the same way they arrived for shipping 3,000 miles away. Impossible! It took a month of correspondence to even get that far. Then they had the gall to offer me a third of the cost and a repair kit, and suggested I sell them to recoup more of my cost. Never will I ever order from them again! Beware!
We are sorry to hear this. Our team has reached out directly to your email associated with your profile. If you don't see our response in your inbox or spam, please let us know and we will resend it!
Ordered a bench through Houzz and it arrived damaged (UPS but not packed all that well). I dealt with Beth Brown and without her don't know if it would every been resolved. First asked if I wanted a refund or new bench. Really wanted that bench (now have and it is perfect) She stayed in constant touch and updated me to let me know she was waiting for response when there was a time lag. Finally heard from the seller and they said I could dispose of the bench which meant I had find some to take it and pay for pick and disposal. She offered to check out sources where I live that might take it. During the shipping process she gave me constant updates as the seller never provided shipping information. Then got an email from Beth wanting to know if it had arrived and was it OK. Will definitely order through Houzz in the future based on this experience. I am in the customer service business so rarely use the word awesome. Beth was awesome
Terrible customer service. Incorrect item was sent to us, notified Houzz within two days of receiving item. After multiple emails and sending pictures, they still say they're waiting on seller response. I don't care if the third party seller is at fault our Houzz is at fault. All I know is it's been a month, still have incorrect item, still no refund. I'll go with Amazon next time.
Answer: Good question Maggie. I don't think there is. I think this site is just there to help their vendor and not assist consumers in making informed decisions. I found had a contractor who had defrauded us and changed his business name on Houzz. I posted a review on his profile notifying the public of what he had done to us, and Houzz did not publish the review. I joined Sitejabber to warn the public about Houzz.
Answer: I began as a Pro on Houzz and spent $2000 on Advertising. This was supposedly for a year of top exposure. No one purchased, the couple of calls I received were people wanting to USE my service for ideas. I have since discontinued complimentary initial appointments. These people are the biggest scammers in the world! I'm still one of the Pros just to see if anything bites but I noticed they go into vendors photos and try to find similar product then they sell their products. Great way to sway your client and to steal customers!
Answer: Go straight to the top at Houzz. Ms. Adi Tatarko, CEO, Alon Cohen, Pres. If tha doesn't work, I suggest you file complaint with the Consumer Affairs Division of the California Attorney General's Office.
Answer: The Pros, at least at the beginning, were not in competition with this company (Houzz). They convinced the "Designer" world that the were strictly collecting ideas for the public and to help improve the vendors chances of being hired. Those reviews on the Pros are about the Pros, they come from their clients. About 2-3 years ago, Houzz began selling out from under all the vendors! They are SO low they have gone into the photos of the pros, look for a product they have that might be similar to something they sell and lead them away from the pro. The 1-2 stars you see here are the reviews for "Houzz" and their service but the reviews under a Pro are for that Pro. Don't be fooled... If you want the job done right, call the Pro! Listen to these reviews of Houzz and you won't get burned. Two different animals completely!
Answer: Steer clear. The advertising doesn't work, and although they originally started up as a company that would work alongside the vendors, they are now selling out from under most of them, especially the interiors decorators! They are SO low they have actually tagged products inside some of the photos of interior designers and tabbed out similar products to stay the customer away from the Pro and to purchase through them directly!
Answer: Do yourself a huge favor and find it somewhere else. Houzz contracts with third party sellers and their freight companies, they're just a middle man. What a nightmare this has been.
Houzz has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,658 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Houzz most frequently mention customer service, credit card and delivery date. Houzz ranks 47th among Furniture sites.
