I honestly would rather buy from Home Depot online than in person because their customer service in person while shopping is below average.
The order and pickup service used to be HORRID, but it is greatly improved. I found that if you provide a very specific pickup time, it is likelier to be ready than if you just say 'today' or 'tomorrow'. And, sometimes, what is shown as available online is gone before they get around to putting your order together so you get there and not everything is in the order. But, overall, it does save time so I will keep using it.

I ordered a Kohler Toilet on June 13. I chose to have the product shipped to the store to save the shipping fee. The website stated that orders are delivered within 7-10 days. Today is June 26 and the Home Depot on Powell in Nashville cannot tell me where the toilet is. I have visited the store 6 times seeking information. I had to cancel the service call from the Plumbing Company. According to HD Online my product was received by the store on June 23 at 6 pm. The store states that they never received the product and can't tell me where it is. The store manager tells me that it takes 3-5 days after receiving the shipment before it is unloaded. Presently they are running about 5 days and have 5 trailers to unload. They can't unload because the receiving area is full of merchandise. I finally found an excellent service desk person, Kristine, who spent 20 minutes looking for the toilet but without success. Don't order online from HD. Even the management admits they have problems.
If only had a few issues with online orders, they allow you to buy but then find out later the item is out of stock and they cancel your order. Whenever I buy instore I'm always happy. Their customer service is great tho, so that's a plus! :)

The sales folks at my HD in S. Chesapeake work very hard to please the customer. I am amazed to see people treat them so poorly. Its a tough job my hats off to those sales folks who have to contend with the abuse these folks do. On the up side I hear the company does "try" to take good care of their employees.
Home Depot is truly a place of imagination! My imagination added to that of some store personnel. Many times all I have to do is relate what it is that I'd like to accomplish, idea's I've come up with. It seems someone can always help with the idea's on "how" and Home Depot has something of quality that fits my budget! It's one of my favorite stores~

Ordered a colored shower pan, took twice as long to get it as they said, when it came in, no one called me - ever! Had to just check in person every couple of days. Being on hold on the phone was ridiculous! Bought a kitchen sink, it cracked after 5 mos. Had to buy another, it cracked after 2 weeks. Home Depot said return it to the mfgr. No help. Even didn't believe that I didn't cause the cracks. Turns out on line hundreds of these sinks have cracked. HD still sells them.
