ERRIBLE COMPANY
Paid in full for a car to be picked up at sacramento Airport. On arrival was told insurance was no good and would have to upgrade, offered an upgrade for at total of $40.
On arrival back in UK found out the total bill was over $400.00.
Messaged Hertz and have been fobbed off time and time again.
This is by far the worst car rental company I have ever used.
Dont go there if you dont want to ruin your trip. Worse service and people they cansel my rental because I paid whit a debit card and told that they only accept credit card. And she told me that at last minute
Recently prepaid for a rental car in Phoenix. Took the shuttle over to the rental car facility and waited in line only to be told there were no cars. Just spent about 40 minutes on the phone to be told I should canceled the reservation for the car they didn't have. Worst customer service of any company
I had terrible experience but i went after hertz. First thing gave me a car and the tire kept loosing air. I finally gave it back to them to get another car and they try to say someone was smoking and try to charge me 400 dollars. They also went into my acct and took the money out I had no receipt I consider that stealing. The insurance had paid for the rental. But not the 400: dollars. So I wrote to hertz and got in touch with the better business bureau. And they agree to give me my 400 dollars back. I did receive it back but I will never rent a car from them. What a nightmare. For any of you that are considering renting a car from Hertz and even slightly care about your privacy, I encourage you to NEVER rent from Hertz. Their new NeverLost system that comes with most of their new cars whether your request it or not is essentially a spying device.
It is fitted with a live camera and a live microphone. The system can't be turned off by you but it can be remotely turned-on by Hertz. The camera can see the entire inside of the car.
The device also monitors various aspects of your driving and whether you put enough gas or not. They can turn the car off remotely if they want to.
I rented a car at Hertz located in ILIKAI hotel in Oahu. Danny helped me with the process and I am very impressed by his professional attitude and kindness. I'm very satisfied with this car rental experience! Thank you!
Bought a rental at hotwire and paid there. When I was at hertz counter, they asked if I wanted insurance and I refused. They charged me for insurance anyway and when I realized, I tried to call them except none of their numbers were answered by a person (neither 800 nor local Ft. Lauderdale). When I tried to send an on-line form, it gave me an email to send to the 'webmaster' since their system wasn't working.
You prepay for a trip. Because of an emergency, you have to return the car a week early. Hertz does not refund you because you have prepaid. Yet, they rent your car already payed for to someone else… something is not right and will continue to report it to anyone who will hear it. Hertz/Thrifty is a non costumer friendly company
I booked a rental for my time in Norway. I needed to modify my reservation by picking it up one day later. To do that they were going to have to make a new reservation and it would double my original cost even though it was one day less. I canceled and went with another company.
Rented at Raleigh Duram airport location and couple weeks ago. Billed me for two days + extra hours and pre-paid fuel. The president of our company was traveling with me, so I've got a wittness. Turned the car in the day after picking it up...beore noon. Had previously changed my fuel option. Reached out to 800 number customer service...worthless and a waste of time...offered to remove the extra hours charge. Tried to email someone at the Hertz airport location. Still haven't heard back. As a longtime Hertz Gold customer I should be treated better. Since you won't, I'll just continue to burn you on social media.
Recently I made a Hertz.com online order via couponcabin and didn't receive any cashback as was stated. Couponcabin followed up on my order and this is the feedback I got: "We just heard back from Hertz and, unfortunately, they advised us that we did not receive credit for referring your order to them. As a result they will not be paying us a commission for your order so we are not able to provide you with cash back for it."
Seriously, why have all these offers https://www.couponcabin.com/coupons/hertz/ online and then refuse to honor them? I'm thinking... Just don't promise any offers then!
Not to mention that the vehicle I had booked wasn't available and I had to upgrade. Yes, another $60.00 over and above the $240.00 I had budgeted for.

With NO AVAIL! Would NEVER recommend Hertz to anyone and will be sure to contact local media stations, social media, state reps and share with all of my friends! I have waited for $100 refund since July 11th. I have been waiting for the refund from the over charge, have had terrible customer service from the day of pick up and going forward, as well as a Stinky dirty car! Completely unprofessional! This company could take a few lessons from Their competitors! I would rather pay a little more to get the right service!
Made several reservations and had to cancel one of them. Went on the website to cancel and none of the reservations were shown. I went to the app on my phone and it didn't show up there either. So I called Hertz customer service which is just unbelievable, You are encouraged about 10 plus times to cancel online which you can not. (They even say its simple hah ha) Then they say they will charge 5% to speak with you. I kid you not. The process only took a little over an hour by the time they picked up the phone.
They found all the reservations in just 20 more minutes and told me they would have to charge me a cancelation fee to cancel a reservation I couldn't even change or see online. I promise to anyone who tries calling Hertz for simple service, that you would be better off putting a gun to your head. It would overwhelmingly be less pain and suffering!
Had a car rented for three days as my cat was in the shop. My car wasn't fine at the end of the three days so I called and asked for an extension. I was expecting them to price gouge me but they did not. Great customer service and great price!
Not worth 1 star! Had to select to be able to leave a review! Was overcharged on milage by 200km, pre paid for tolls however money for tolls was still taken from my account! Refused a refund and wouldn't supply pictures of milage! Will never use this company again!
Hertz should de ASHAMED!
I planned a trip from Alabama to Texas for a family reunion. Boy am I angry and disappointed.
I found a good deal online and booked way in advance. I ordered a large SUV to travel in style and a bit luxury.
When I arrived to pick up my rental, I was told that they had no SUV I rented. They offered me a way smaller SUV interested.
I was angry and asked the lady, if she could do anything to help. She denied.
She told, I have 2 options: take the smaller SUV or cancel for a refund. Really?
I called Hertz headquarter and explained. The "gentleman" looked up the reservation and told, that I made the reservation with Priceline, and he will not help.
If I had made the reservation with Hertz directly, he could help and could make a change to another location.
Only resolution he offered: cancel this reservation and book a new one. Of course, then the booking would be almost double then I have prepaid for the large SUV.
What a disappointment.
Of course we had no other choice, we had to take the small SUV.
That this small SUV stank like hell to cigarette smoke was just the top of the iceberg.
We are renting quite often, and out next trip will be in April of 2024.
I told my wife, I will never ever rent with Hertz anymore and I will make sure, that all of my friends, etc get notice of this.
I look forward to her from Hertz for an explanation. "we are sorry" just will not do it.

I had a van reserved weeks in advance. I checked-in online at Hertz.com a few days in prior to my pickup date. On the day of Pickup I called the 800 number they said it's confirmed. I called the location they said we see the booking but we have no van When said but I have a booking. The lady said anyone can book any vechiel that does not mean we will have it. I called the 800 number for another location no help!
Ripp-off
I was charged for roadside assistance and insurance that I did not ask for without being informed of the charges. I simply asked for the basic charges as initially quoted.
I was also charged $77.00 for gas. The car was dropped off with a full tank of gas.
When I called Hertz, I was on hold for almost 25 minutes with no assistance from the operator.
I ended up paying double the initial quoted figures

We had confirmed reservations (in writing) for an SUV at the Liberia Airport in Costa Rica. When we arrived, we were told that they didn't have a car for us and that they were way oversold! They apologized and said there's nothing they can do. We were left stranded at the Liberia Airport! I will NEVER take a chance with Hertz!
By phone on or about March 26th I requested a refund for a prepaid car rental and was told that I was eligible for a refund and that it would be applied to my credit card in 7-10 days. 20 days later and I get nothing. Not a word. Its impossible to get anybody on the phone who can or is willing to help. I guess I will have to chalk it up to a learning experience. I will no longer do any prepaid reservations and will avoid Hertz like the plaguepun intended.

Answer: ENTERPRISE! Go there, they have way better rates and won't screw you over.
