There is small print behind the small print with these vouchers.
Appalling customer service, non negotiable inflexible with tough luck attitude to customers.

I have a lot of Groupons, and I know it can be a bit risky. But so far Groupon is the best coupon site I know of. I have been getting refunds or Groupon bucks when I have sour deals that don't work out (out of business, not delivered as expected, etc). I don't get that from the other voucher/coupon sites like LIvingSocial and others. And of course I love the deals.
I am a business that sold my service to goupons I had a contract with them to self 200 goupons for daily deal I was not aware that they continue selling it for weeks and they end up selling 400 goupons I tried calling them emailing them several times for them to stop by that time the damage was already done. I am a small business and do not have the staff to handle that many Groupons so I am doing the best I can with the situation. Groupon will not get the bad name but I will because of scheduling issues but I will give quality service every time sorry to all of my customers hope you will forgive me I will do the best I can. Thank You. Marie's Helping Hands
The site has these countdown clocks on some deals showing the offers are 'limited time only'. I was tricked into buying a deal because I thought I was running out of time and didn't think it through well enough. But the day after buying the deal, the countdown was still up and ticking. They had surreptitiously added another day to the 'limited time' period of the deal. Old marketing trick and my mistake for falling for it, but still very shady in my opinion.
I have bought several items from ideeli.com, and I've come to notice that the prices for these things are nothing special. That is to say, a matching or lower price can be easily found through simple google search. What prompted me to write this review was my latest purchase of sunglasses, supposedly made in Italy but they looked more like they were made in China - the overall quality was severely lacking. And for this I paid double the price I could have paid had I searched google for the same "Italian" glasses. What makes me furious is that they decided to make this purchase non-returnable.
The same has happened to me. NEVER WILL I EVER BE PURCHASING FROM THIS SHAM OF A SITE AGAIN. THEY CHARGED MY ACCOUNT TWICE, THREE DAYS APART FOR THE SAME ORDER SO THEY CAN'T EVEN SAY THAT IT WAS AN ERROR. CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHAT IS THAT? THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONES OR RETURN PHONE CALLS EVEN THE BANK FINDS IT ODD AND CHALLENGES THE LEGITIMACY OF THIS SHELL OF A COMPANY. THEY AREN'T GOING TO CREDIT THE BARAGE OF OVERDRAFTS IN MY ACCOUNT... SHAME ON YOU. STICK TO RUE LA LA, GILT, HAUTE LOOK, JOSS AND MAIN, MYHABIT, ZULLILY. SERVICE FROM THEM IS IMPECABLE TO SAY THE LEAST AND IDEELI COULD STAND LEARN QUITE A FEW. I'M HEADED TO TWITTER, FACEBOOK AND ALL ON MY CONTACT LIST.

I've been using groupon for several months now for a variety of different things and have never had an issue. In fact, my boyfriend and I went on vacation and when we got to the hotel we found out that our groupon included all meals and other amenities that were not initially listed when we purchased; it was a great surprise.
We've discovered new restaurants we may have never tried before, every business has always been very accommodating and pleasant to redeem with, and any goods we order arrive within the expected time frame and work perfectly. To me, groupon has been one of my best and most favorite discoveries.
The whole damn thing is useless when you actually have a problem.
Here is part of my email exchange with groupon's "Customer Support":
Hi *********,
I'm so sorry for the trouble. Unfortunately, we aren't able to issue a refund in this situation. We're only able to issue refunds if the business has closed, is no longer accepting Groupons, or if they have displayed an act of customer disservice.
If you are unable to use your Groupon before the expiration date, you can still use it for the price you paid.
Thank you for your understanding.

Groupon Customer Support
Mr. Drew,
I am NOT looking for a refund. All I am asking is that my Groupon account be credited with the $32 before this disreputable person tries to cash-in my groupon without having rendered any services. As I stated previously, I had to email her a. Pdf of the groupon to prove I was a groupon customer. The section of her website for "Groupon Customers" had no appt. Link, so I had to make the appoint through her regular customer channels. She wanted the Groupon voucher info before I came in. Thus, she has the voucher info and may try to redeem the voucher as if she did anything.
Again, I am NOT looking for a refund, I just want the $32 put into my Groupon acct because she has " displayed an act of customer disservice".
Hi ************,
Unfortunately, we will not be able to issue a refund of any sort in this case. It is not unusual for a merchant to ask for your voucher information prior to your appointment. Additionally, the redemption instructions asked that you call or email for scheduling. There was no mention of a redemption process through the business's website.
Thanks for understanding.
Regards,
Drew J.
Groupon Customer Support... This pretty much speaks for itself.
I will NEVER USE GROUPON AGAIN. They are crooks. No refunds back to your Groupon account for any reason if your Groupon expires and customer service does not care one bit for you, just to take your money. NEVER let a Groupon you purchase expire! Yes, you are supposed to be able to PAY MORE money and use that Groupon value toward the original (or hiked up) business price but a LOT more money will be needed and not worth it. Sometimes the businesses go out and you lose out as many customers have complained of. I have seen people post that Groupon stole their money and closed their account for no reason. I know business owners who got totally screwed by Groupon, not getting their rightful money. Groupon is a greedy grubby company and there are plenty of competitors out there who won't look for every opportunity to steal all the nickels, dimes and dollars theuy can without providing anything to you in return.
BEWARE! I've purchased a number of items from Ideeli, some were fine and others looked cheap. I'm livid because: a couple of weeks ago, after I'd placed an order, Ideeli charged my debit card TWICE. I then spoke to them via their online chat, and they told me they never charged me twice! I was livid. I called Bank of America and had them take off the second charge. However, that second charge had put my acct. Into overdrawn status! Also, one isn't allowed to call Ideeli customer service. I was told a number of times by online chat, that customer service would call me. Two out of three times they never called! There is much more to this story, but I'm exhausted even thinking about it, let alone having to write about it. I'd already had to contact their chat numerous times about some other problems with the order mentioned above, and I'd had enough with their companies horrible policies.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for giving us your feedback here on SiteJabber. I'm sorry to hear that your debit card was authorized twice and that caused it to be overdrawn. When you place an order, we issue a temporary authorization hold on your card for the amount of your purchase. This hold is placed to verify that your card has not been reported as lost or stolen, and that the card is valid. The authorization from checkout is typically dropped within 48 hours but it may take between 3 and 5 business days for the bank to drop the pending amount on their end. Once the order is ready to ship, we do authorize the card again and that is the amount we use for the charge. If the authorization is voided on our end, we do have to reauthorize the card in order to be able to ship your order.
I'm very sorry for any delay with customer service in helping resolve your issue and that you weren't called as requested. Since we aren't a typical call center, you can work with agents through email and Live Chat. However if that doesn't work for you, we're happy to have agents reach out over the phone and when you request a phone call the message should be escalated to an agent to contact you. I'd like to check into this and find out why you weren't called, as requested.
I would very much like the chance to help resolve this issue. If you can please send a message with your order information and any incident number that I can look into for this issue, I'd like to find out what happened and help resolve any outstanding issues. I look forward to hearing back from you and ensuring a resolution.
Best,

I have to say... out of all the various online/deal/voucher sites... the pioneer Groupon.com rules. Their customer service always reply to you as promised (within 24 hours). I have successfully received 3 refunds due to various vendor reasons (ie: had a terrible experience but purchased more than one voucher, business closed down temporarily, etc.)... you have to be detailed in your complaint and patient in getting your refund. 98% (come on groupon.com isn't perfect) of their vendors are reputable and respect you and the voucher when presented. Simple expectations that Groupon.com executes successfully but sadly not the way of the world these days. Great job Groupon :)
DON'T USE!
Moved 200 miles from business groupon was purchased for, didnt redeem the groupon, called the business and got the OK from them to refund, just had to call groupon. However... Groupon is hurting for money so badly instead of issuing $250 groupon bucks, they'd rather piss me (and hopefully more people) off to the point I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. Bunch of monkeys kept reading from a scripts about how they don't give refunds. But- I've talked to people who have gotten them, so... maybe Groupon refund lottery system? Either way, stay away. Not worth dealing with them to save a few bucks.
I've read some pretty awful reviews of Groupon, but my own experiences have always been really good. All vouchers I've bought have been from good companies and my partner and I have taken some pretty awesome trips for hardly any money (like a private executive chalet on an oceanfront resort, with fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, jacuzzi, hot tub, private deck, etc. for just over $60 a night). We've done a range of great activities thanks to Groupon, and any problems I've ever had have been solved by the customer service agents promptly, professionally, and respectfully. I've also been given unexpected refunds for experiences that have been less than good; I just wanted to let them know not to book with that company again and they went ahead and refunded my money. I don't dispute that people may have had bad experiences with Groupon, but I will say I'm definitely not one of them.
I purchased a lie detection class on croupon for $29 at the 'Nonverbalgroup', the vendor was unreachable, neither could you sign up via website nor talk to anyone. For the entire term the deal was valid I left 9 messages, requesting a callback, so I could take the class. My patience ran out a month before the groupon did. Groupon support only offered to reach out to the vendor, they stuck by their policy of 'no refunds' despite my frustration. The email exchange went over 3 weeks each time with a promise the vendor would call. It never happened. Now Groupn is offering the same deal again to people, being fully aware of the scam. Shame on you Groupon.
I get a lot of great local and national deals from Groupon. Some people complained that many of the products were not good quality. I always check the review of a product on Amazon or Yelp before buying from Groupon. Groupon's customer service is the best. Whenever I have a problem and I email them, I first get their prepared form letter reply. But when I reply with the details of my problem, I always get a more personal response with either a credit or refund... even for an item that is a non-returnable item. If you have a valid reason for asking for a refund, they will always give you a refund.
Hi,
I have the most awful experience on the groupon site. They sell groupons that are not redeemable and when you contact the customer service they suggest " you can gift the groupon to a family or friend" (read gift the pain of redeeming a groupon to a loved one). The worst customer service ever. I do hope they go out of business soon so that customer do not get cheated out of hard earned money.
They misrepresent their shipping method. Thus they lost my package. When I called (4 times) I was told by different Customer "Service" people that it's my problem. "You will have to deal with it". WTF?
I would recommend you RUN away from Groupon.
And as far as the services they sell... It's funny that when I go on the website of the place they're selling a Groupon for, the price is the same as if I'd just ordered direct from the provider.
Groupon Sucks, Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
I'm following almost all time for great deals. Why I have to buy for the full price, if the major service like Groupon offers good discounts? The service does the great job. You need to be first to grab that offer. Good luck!
Buying groupon at your own risks is my experience!
You must spend time reading fine prints. Even that, the fine print is so "fine" that you could misunderstand it. Groupon offers by the same supplier might change
Their fine print condition at any time... so even one time is great, the next time is "loudsy". Supplier acts as if you are their burden!
Not worth at all, stay away from groupon!
I actually had to return 2 groupons and the customre service was awesome. I ordered 2 groupons, and once a friend and I went to the business they were charging an upgrade for the service we wanted, so we decided to return the groupon. It was a Saturday so we both sent emails to the customer service email and received an email back on Monday. I instantly got a groupon credit refund, and they request more information from her. We called on Monday afternoon, with no wait during the call, and I requested to get a credit back to my card instead of a groupon, and she requested a credit back to the card as well. We both got exactly what we asked for, with little questions asked. Awesome and super easy!
Answer: Yes, Groupon is legit. You need to read the fine print before ordering live event tickets- -they will not refund your money even if it's there fault. I only buy tickets for activities that don't expire or you can use the purchase price towards a non-Groupon service the vendor offers. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, report it but using social media is a very effective way to get a companies attention. Spread the word, Groupon does not honor returns!
Answer: I usually call the merchants I am interested in before buying the coupons, and ask them if the groupon coupons work, and how much more I have to pay. You could do the same, contact the merchants you are interested in and ask them how groupon works for them?
Answer: Groupon usually sends a tracking # via email If not do as the other people suggested, check My Groupons
Answer: I wish I could say why, but a solution might be to contact Call Curtis, or your local News station that helps with consumer issues. They always seem to get fast resolutions, because companies hate BAD TV PUBLICITY.
Answer: I personally do not trust groupon. The question previous to yours printed on this site should answer your question as to its reliaiblity
Answer: The one I took by Holly and Hugo at least were I would research the company before buying. Also about twice a year they put all their courses for $5! I got mine completed it and it helped boost my resume and I was able to get a vet assistant job pretty quickly compared to before where I only got a call back from about one place which didn't lead anywhere. :) hope I could help!
Answer: Well, it's not Ideeli anymore... it's been Ideel for about a year now I think. Yes, there is a customer support phone number. I've had nothing but good experiences from Ideel in all regards - product satisfaction, price, shipping, etc. - but I've never had to contact customer service so I don't know what you'll get, but they're phone number is (888) 835-1719.
Answer: They are the absolute worst about answering customer service complaints. They will lie, they literally told me customer service reps were out sick, thus no answer to my emails for about 2 weeks. But, don't loose hope, the DAY I posted a review on this site, they answered AND gave me a 25.00 credit for my trouble. So write a review on Site Jabber with all the details and a bet a manager will answer promptly. As this is their way, I NEVER ordered from the site again after at least 3 years of orders. Good Luck and don't leave a sordid detail out of your complaint.
Groupon is the largest "daily deal" site, selling vouchers for discounted local experiences and services such as restaurants and spas, as well as travel packages, shopping, and a number of other items. Vouchers are purchased upfront and typically must be redeemed by a certain date, after which time Groupons expire. To businesses Groupon markets itself as a way to drive new customers. Groupon is a public company (NASDAQ: GRPN) and is based in Chicago, IL.
Hi Mercedes,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on SiteJabber. We're so sorry you had this particular experience with your order. We would be more than happy to process a one time return for a non-returnable item; if you can provide information that the item was indeed at a lower price elsewhere, we'd also be happy to look into price matching it. I would be happy to personally assist you, can you please private message me your user id (email) & order number so I can help you out immediately? Thank you again for reaching out and I look forward to hearing from you.
