Beware of supposed discounts to ticketed events! I purchased tickets through groupon, only to discover that had I gone directly to the box office, I'd have paid 25% less! I contacted groupon about this and was told "It is beyond our control."
I purchased more than 10 vouchers and did not get into problems. I purchased a voucher and the vendor did not honor for service at a reasonable time frame. I purchased cleaning solution and the vendor can schedule appointment only after 1 month, which is not acceptable for a cleaning solution.
Basically the vendor is trying to not honor the groupon coupon. When I complained to Groupon, they said that the vendor is still honoring the coupon (giving appointment after a month!) and refused to refund.
Who in this world will wait for 1 month to clean the house. I am not sure, if the customer service reps or management does like that.
Basically, they are not trying to partner with good vendors and improve their service, they are just trying to sell whatever they can before going out of business. If they continue like this, because of negative comments, they sure will vanish soon.
I am sure, other people who purchased the voucher is facing the same problem. Either they did not complain and vowed to never use Groupon in their lifetime or their complaints also went in vain.
DO NOT purchase any vouchers from Groupon unless it is a known vendor and read the terms and conditions
Poor customer service. By combining promotions the site risks issues with purchasing the wrong item and refuses to do anything about it even if contacted within 48 hours. ALL they care about is taking your $. There's NO interest in holding on to customers.
A few months ago, I bought a $39 Groupon for hair services at Paul David Salon. When I called to make my appointment, the very rude and pushy person who answered the call insisted on up-selling additional services, despite never meeting me or having seen my hair to evaluate my needs.
I made an appointment anyway. A few days later, I realized I had a conflict in schedule and left several voice mail message to reschedule, but never received a call back. At that time, I contacted Groupon to complain about the lousy service and my inability to reschedule my appointment. I requested a refund, but Groupon was adamant about giving the salon another try.
With the expiration date fast approaching, I have spent the past three days trying to book my appointment. Unfortunately, their phone goes straight to voice mail but now the voice mailbox is full and I cannot even leave a message.
I contacted Groupon again about my continued inability to reach the salon. Groupon has continued to deny my refund, stating that they 'stand behind' their merchants.
A quick online search reveals that I am one of many who have had issues with this salon and Groupon has refused to resolve this matter.
This place is a scam!
They would not let me return a comforter that I purchased from Groupon Goods. After only a couple months of use the thing was falling apart but they would not stand behind the product. Their policy is 14 days, really how am I to know this would happen after only 14 days. Needless to say I will NEVER buy anything from them again.
The team that handles the the sales for Groupon Works and the team that handles issues related to it, are the most arrogant, unwilling to help people I have encountered in advertising companies. This people will try to justify each others mistakes at all cost. Is there any justification for putting an add out with your cell phone number on it and your business address in another state? Also the editing person needs to go on Adderal. She writes adds that don't speak about the business at all, she puts main focus on the owners personal Bio ( who left the business). When I asked her to please make a correction, she re-writes the same exact thing all over again. In another freaking State! Unbelievable!
Hit or miss. Hit means wonderful discounts at restaurants. Miss is when your Groupon expires or the company goes out of business... you call customer service to find "You are number 17" please hold and hold and hold. This is routine and I assume how they make their money no matter what they claim is the refund option.
I have to say, I've enjoyed my hits, but those misses are infuriating! 30 seconds ago I removed my credit card to prevent me from that "can't resist the deal" click. My next step is to "unsubscribe" but I'm a bargain lover going through withdrawal.
This is the worst business that provides the most terrible customer services! I bought a hotel deal (I later found that it wasn't any cheaper than the official hotel reservation) on groupon. It turned out to be wrong dates. I didn't pay much attention to the confirmation page that was sent to my email. Later, I just realized that it was wrong dates before I could cancel it. Groupon did not send any other reminders before the trip was supposed to happen. I called their customer support to see if they can reschedule my trip for me, and they said NO. They were not even willing to refund even half of my money. Unlike hotels which only charge one night for no show, greedy Groupon charges for all of my money for no show. They make money basing upon not providing any services. This is my first time using Groupon, and definitely not coming back to it again! I recommend everybody stays away from it!
I have been purchasing Groupons for a few years now - since shortly after the business launched in my city. I have gotten several vouchers where the business offered horrible customer service - a cleaning company that kept making appointments and not showing up or a horseback riding ranch that took two weeks to reach only to be told they would not honor the voucher because they were booked up until the voucher expired - and got Groupon credit each time. I have never been hassled by Groupon to explain myself or prove why it didn't work out. I have always got a customer service rep on the line within minutes and the rep has always been eager to help me. So, A+ on customer service from me. Out of curiosity, after the last incident, I took a look at Groupon's business model. Generally, the vendor gets paid 1/3 of the agreed upon rate when you buy the groupon, another 1/3 30 days after and another 1/3 60 days after. This is to help them insure that someone doesn't open a fake business, get all the money, and disappear without honoring any Groupons at all. That said, in all of my personal experiences, the businesses that I had problems with likely got all their money, as more than two months passed before I called Groupon with a complaint. Therefore, I find the vendor's unwillingness to work with me inexcusable! Groupon lost $ on those transactions and instead of being angry at Groupon, I think it's imperative that people write reviews for the vendors instead. I have heard excuses a million times that Groupon is killing small businesses and I call BS on that. I have a small business and the only way a promotion can kill my business is if I don't think it through and agree to provide a service/product for less than my breakeven or sell more promotions than I can support. And, yes, there are those people who rely on deals for all their experiences and restaurant purchases. But, even in those cases, a good experience will leave them saying good things about your business and a bad experience will leave the business crippled. In these days of social media and the internet, information travels fast. I have personally discovered restaurants and experiences that I have gone back to again and again, I tip workers at those businesses well - often above the customary 20% - and I recommend the hell out of businesses that treat me well - even when I don't have a need or opportunity to go back and I am sure I have personally been responsible for at least 2-3 referrals paying full price for each of the businesses that have treated me well even with a deal. So, vendors take note! And, Groupon, keep doing what you are doing! Treating customers well and seeking out responsible vendors in order to continue providing a valuable service.
I bought a voucher for a hairdressing business that went bankrupt. Groupon refused to refund my voucher stating that it had a "subject to availability" clause. Seeing as I had turned up to the salon appointment that I'd made before the voucher had expired I don't see how that clause stands... I will NEVER be purchasing from Groupon again!
I bought stuff from Groupon, some good, some bad. You just hve to be lucky i think. I got also very, very bad stuff, stuff i wanted to send back and Groupon gave me kind of code to send it back. So it was allowed and i got my money back. Also because of being in the hospital i couldnt use a voucher and i got my money back in credits minus 10 percent... was not happy about th 10% but hey, better something then nothing. What i got lately was about jewelry, but that seemed to be kind of scam; its written that there is Svarowski crystals in it, but... most of the jewelry is crap. Not even worth the postal costs! Got a voucher of a parking lot near the Airport, but that firm was bad, very bad. It came onto a consumersprogram on tv and the director of Groupon was there too explaining that they couldnt do anything about bad performance. So, you very well hve to know what you want and if you really need what groupon is offering you. I myself most of the time go for the facial treatments, they are much cheaper and that way i can afford to go to the beautrist now and then ;)
Groupon website duplicated my order and they have refused to cancel the duplicated transaction. I need to wait weeks for the item to arrive and then I need to attempt to return one - which if successful, will take weeks again.
NEVER AGAIN!
Bought a coupon for a restaurant and the restaurant went out of business Groupon refused to refund my money and only offered a
Groupon credit. Their claim is that until the out of business business calls them they can not honor my request for a refund. PLEASE why would an out of business business call them; they can verify my claim by trying to call the business or just checking their logs and seeing how many other cheated customers called to report the problem. Thier claim that "Groupon will refund the purchaser the amount paid. Period. Is total crap. Period.
Ideeli customer service is the worst customer service I have ever experienced! I never take the time to write reviews, but I am so dissapointed that I wanted to take the time to do so.
I ordered champagne glasses and they did not provide any protective packaging and they broke. I contacted them and they said I would either have to send it back or they would provide me a $5 credit for the one broken glass. I live in NYC and it is difficult to get to a post office (no car/far from apt/open during work hours only) so I opted for the credit. I now have only 3 champagne glasses.
With that, I still decided to order again and ordered a plastic makeup organizer. The plastic organizer was also packaged with no protection. It arrived broken as well. I contacted Ideeli once again. They said in order to receive a refund, I would have to ship it back. What a hassle... again! I informed them that would be quite inconvenient for me and asked if I could send a picture and show them it was broken in order to receive a credit. They said they only honor pictures when it is a breakable item made of ceramic or glass. They said there was nothing else they would do for me and thanked me for understanding.
My view is that I should not have to be inconvenienced everytime I use their site if I want to receive an order that is not broken.
Also- in regards to their deals on designer items: Before you purchase, do a quick google search for the same item. You may find that somewhere else is selling it for the same or lower price. Also, the "original price" they display is FAR from the original price.
DO NOT USE THIS SITE. Use Ruelala or Gilt instead. For home goods, try Jossandmain.com. Their customer service is impeccable!
Never buy from Groupon... they cancel orders after 3 weeks of waiting... never and never
Awful service! I purchased egyptian towels and i received the cheapest looking towels ever. I tried to return them and there is no return for this product. Really? How funny GROUPON takes our money right away but doesnt take customer's feedback nor returns. I will never buy anythingfromthem again. I regret so much to referred my frinedsto purchase onthis website because service is realy bad!
When a restaurant to which I'd purchased a deal closed, they refunded my money even though we'd claimed the offer (we just hadn't used it yet). There was no muss, no fuss.
I always have great experiences with them and appreciate the deals!
Feb. 3 - Purchased coupon
Feb. 12 - Attempted to use coupon (vendor did not honor coupon)
Feb. 12 - Called Groupon. They refused to refund because it has been over 7 days of purchase.
One of the worst customer service experiences I had ever had from any online company. They do have some good deals from time to time; however, if a vendor does not honor the coupon then it is very difficult to be refunded if it has been over 7 days of purchase. Does that seem like a reasonable policy? If the coupon is not honored then regardless of the date of purchase you should receive a refund.
Thanks for reading my review! :)
I bought one restaurant groupon for the Italian inn. They wouldn't answer the phones there you only got recordings. Then no return calls. Then next was for a news paper subscription. Groupon denied the offer I paid for even after I called the Fort Worth Star Telegram newspaper several times and they said they would honor it. Groupon hung up the phone on me, I called back again they were more than happy to refund my money on the newspaper subscription because they didn't want to confirm with the newspaper. But not on the restaurant groupon it was almost $40.00. Just be very careful with these so called good deals! I will never use them again!
Ideeli is HORRIBLE. The customer service is absolutely horrendous. I have ordered from ideeli 3 times and the first time, the shoes I ordered broke. The second time was perfect. The third time, ideeli sent me the wrong sunglasses and was rude about it! It wasn't my fault and all ideeli did was treat me rudely. Ruelala has the same great prices and is ALWAYS prompt and courteous. Stay away y'all!

Answer: Yes, Groupon is legit. You need to read the fine print before ordering live event tickets- -they will not refund your money even if it's there fault. I only buy tickets for activities that don't expire or you can use the purchase price towards a non-Groupon service the vendor offers. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, report it but using social media is a very effective way to get a companies attention. Spread the word, Groupon does not honor returns!
Answer: I usually call the merchants I am interested in before buying the coupons, and ask them if the groupon coupons work, and how much more I have to pay. You could do the same, contact the merchants you are interested in and ask them how groupon works for them?
Answer: Groupon usually sends a tracking # via email If not do as the other people suggested, check My Groupons
Answer: I wish I could say why, but a solution might be to contact Call Curtis, or your local News station that helps with consumer issues. They always seem to get fast resolutions, because companies hate BAD TV PUBLICITY.
Answer: I personally do not trust groupon. The question previous to yours printed on this site should answer your question as to its reliaiblity
Answer: The one I took by Holly and Hugo at least were I would research the company before buying. Also about twice a year they put all their courses for $5! I got mine completed it and it helped boost my resume and I was able to get a vet assistant job pretty quickly compared to before where I only got a call back from about one place which didn't lead anywhere. :) hope I could help!
Answer: Well, it's not Ideeli anymore... it's been Ideel for about a year now I think. Yes, there is a customer support phone number. I've had nothing but good experiences from Ideel in all regards - product satisfaction, price, shipping, etc. - but I've never had to contact customer service so I don't know what you'll get, but they're phone number is (888) 835-1719.
Answer: They are the absolute worst about answering customer service complaints. They will lie, they literally told me customer service reps were out sick, thus no answer to my emails for about 2 weeks. But, don't loose hope, the DAY I posted a review on this site, they answered AND gave me a 25.00 credit for my trouble. So write a review on Site Jabber with all the details and a bet a manager will answer promptly. As this is their way, I NEVER ordered from the site again after at least 3 years of orders. Good Luck and don't leave a sordid detail out of your complaint.
Groupon is the largest "daily deal" site, selling vouchers for discounted local experiences and services such as restaurants and spas, as well as travel packages, shopping, and a number of other items. Vouchers are purchased upfront and typically must be redeemed by a certain date, after which time Groupons expire. To businesses Groupon markets itself as a way to drive new customers. Groupon is a public company (NASDAQ: GRPN) and is based in Chicago, IL.
