Staff unable to communicate and as a result they screwed up my reservation even after I repeated it several times. Then refused to let me speak to their supervisor! I will never use your deceitful site again. Thought I was calling the hotel direct not some foreign business which forced me to pay upfront. They SUCK!
Total false marketing and a fraud. So incredibly sneaky and tricky. I was charged a line item fee for "tax and services" that was 30% over the room rate. I never knew I was making this reservation with some third party and then it was sold to yet another booking company completely behind the scenes. I thought I was dealing directly with the hotel. When I called get a room, again... very shady and they do not say their name. The agent I spoke with had no information on what these fees were or any knowledge of the policies of the company. No supervisors were available as they were all "busy". I left several emails and have still not had anyone contact me.
I've booked family apartments with two separeted rooms for 4 persons. But we've got just small double room with two add beds. When I asked getaroom to help me with this problem, they even didn't answer to me. Please, save your nerves, money and rest and don't book anything at getaroom.com
These are cowboys. Avoid. They offer you a price on the screen immediately before confirmation in one currency, and then, after you confirm, the prices switches to US dollars, so you get hit by currency conversion fees. Their customer service is appalling.
I evacuated my mobile home for Irma. I called the number for Rosen hotel because they were supposed to have special hurricane rates. I got getaroom without knowing it. The agent didn't identify himself but said Rosen was full but Quality Suites had rooms for $62.00 I was in a panic and booked the room. The room charge was $186 plus $86. I realized later that taxes should have been about $24.00 So I was charged about $60 more. I have used other online services like Priceline and never had such a fee-it negates the room deal. Getaroom is dishonest and should not be used by anyone. I don't understand how they can stay in business. Alice Meyers
This is a deceptive booking group that charges a LOT of fees but makes it easy to fool people looking for cheaper rooms. I was so angry that they charged me $70 dollars and had to go back and literally open every small print on there to find their fees (even then they weren't disclosed). I might have been wise to make the booking with another agency since I believe GetARoom does not allow for cancellation or refund should something occur that would prevent us from travelling to that area at this particular time. Their price was really not much different from some of the competition.
This site is good at one thing- taking your money! Unfortunately I, like so many other people rating here, fell for the tricks before reading the countless reviews warning people about these thieves! I find it hard to believe reputable hotels will honor reservations from scumbags like these, as they throw up their hands and say, your receipt will come from the website, we have nothing to do with it. I demanded an itemized receipt from getaroom to no avail
These people are complete crooks! We found a recent price online for a Hampton Inn room. So we called and could hardly understand the lady on the other end of the phone. She quoted us a room fee of $109. We we're happy. Three days later I look at credit card statement and their is a service fee of $111.32! The lady never mentioned this! How is this even legal? I tried calling their 1-800 customer service number and of courses it is an automated service and after 3 attempts, I was unsuccessful in talking to any actual person. I'm finding posts all over the internet now of how dishonest this company is. I will forever look closely from now on when booking a room online to make sure it is not through www.getaroom.com!
Recognizing that I had made an error, I called within two minutes of making the reservation. No help at all. These people are total rip offs focused on exploitation of people who are in a hurry.

What a sad company you are. The " customer is always right " is definitely NOT your policy. Instead of creating a business customers will return to over and over you've made sure myself and many others will never use your service again. People make mistakes, hit the wrong key in computer, enter the wrong date... All I needed was my hard earned money to be returned so I could start over with a new reservation. Shame on you for being a spiteful, bottom of the barrel business that does not care.

I just booked 2 night stay in a hotel in Hong Kong. The rate shown was comparable to other sites so I did not compare the final total price. Once I hit the the button, I realized there was a tax recovery charges & service fee of $111.67 (other sites like Hotels.ca did not charge this fee since I booked 3 nights for an earlier dates). I immediately email and talked to the *******578 to ask to cancel. Was told No refund. Now I paid C$84/2 nights more than hotels.ca. The agent would give me C$28 refund only.Be aware! Don't ever use this site because it is deceiving! I learned my lession.

Recently booked ahead for 4/7-4/9. Could never contact resort after booking for or pre check- in information. Check in lines were almost out the door. Housekeeping were cleaning out rooms with items left on carts. Hair every where in the room reserved. Laminate floors not clean. Got placed in a room right above pool area during spring break weekend. Went to management to make them aware. I left lobby with no resolve. Worst experience I ever had booking at a beach resort.

**Amendment** - Once I posted the below, Getaroom did call me to resolve my issue and provided a refund of the 'tax'. Very pleasant customer service lady (unlike the original person I called) but slightly disappointingly their customer services are in the USA so the international call cost me £16.
Their website goes out of its way to mislead you! They advertise a cheap rate and it is only on the page that you enter your booking details that they add an imaginary tax, drastically increasing the overall charge. Calling their customer service is a waste or time and effort (despite calling within minutes of my reservation), as they will basically tell you it was your mistake booking with them and they can't be bothered to assist. A disgrace to the travel industry, don't ruin your trip by booking with them!

I contacted them to flag an issue I had about being billed in U.S. (v. Canadian $). While noting that the booking had been done through TripAdvisor they were prompt and found a positive resolution by offering a refund to me..

Buyer beware - They have a very slick reservation site that looks like the hotels. IT IS NOT. Buy booking through getaroom.com you lose your ability to modify or cancel your reservation without paying a nights stay.
Pretty sure getaroom.com will see a class action lawsuit for this. Protect the customer

I found this website off a link from trip advisor. I thought i was booking a 2 night stay for $540 Canadian. No where on the website did it say the charge was in US funds. So i ended up getting charged $740 on my credit card. Worst part is if i go directly to the site now and try to book i was still over charged $60. They would not refund my booking or even let me book at the current rate. Worst customer service experience i have ever had.
I was redirected to their website. The room rates are comparable to other sites. But then you have fees that are almost more than what you're paying for the room. Tried to call customer service with no resolution. Wanted to cancel. Asked why their taxes are so much more than other websites. Got no answers. It's a scam!

I booked over the phone thinking it was best western head office! They matched the rate I found online for 3 rooms 2 nights including breakfast for a family wedding this weekend.
I now discover this is getaroom and no breakfast included and have paid double the cost! Not able to get a refund!
Very deceitful, avoid at all costs!
Following on from this yesterday I had a call from customer services, asking how they could resolve this issue.
Today they phoned the hotel and have paid for full breakfasts for all adults and emailed me to confirm.
I am very happy with this outcome, good customer service in the end :)

I am satisfied that the customer resolution center was able to understand customer's needs. Although you cannot receive a detailed breakdown of the additional charges, there are work arounds for this.
They have been fairly responsive and resolved any issues you have fairly quickly and professionally.
My advice will be to always check the entire page prior to ordering to ensure that you view the total price (on phone, it is after the checkout) so that you are prepared to expense report this if you would for an organization or if you want to see the total value with taxes and other costs.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.

There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
