This has been one of the worst experiences of my life! I used this service by accident, I thought I was calling Hampton Inn directly and it has been a nightmare, They actually created a fake reservation (spelled my name wrong, email wrong and address wrong) and my credit card was charged because I did not show up. I talked to the hotel and got the credit issued to get a room and now I'm spending multiple hours on the phone trying to get my money back from them. Everyone I talk to is completely incompetent! I just keep getting transferred and even hung up on because they have not clue how to help. The hotel even called me directly because they could not understand the individuals calling from here. They should be shut down!

I was trying to book a room with the hotel directly, but the phone number actually belonged to GetARoom. The rate they told me over the phone was not the rate they charged on my credit card. They charged substantially more. The hotel bill was $514.52, while they charged me $748.98. That is more than 45% extra! GetARoom is FRAUDULENT. Do not use this company, it is a scam.

I booked a hotel for my cousin birthday. Immediately when I got the reservation number by email I called my cousin to provide her with the reservation number. I told her to call the hotel to make sure they had the booking. Hotel advised that no reservation exists nor do they have a contract with this company for reservations. There was never anything that advised that this booking was going through getaroom. The customer service said it could take up to 72 hours for hotel to get reservations. I asked them to call hotel to confirm and agent Armando said there was no way to call. After back and forth with agent being rude to me from getaroom I asked for manager. I was told there are no manager they are in meetings. Agent advised that if he cancelled reservation I will not get money back right away. I hung up because this agent was useless and rude. How can I make a reservation through trip advisor and be advised there is no reservation and the hotel does not have a contract with booking agency. That makes no sense. Why was my card charged. Fraud and scam at its peak

SCAM

We had three issues: 1) the hotel had no reservation for us when we got there 2) we thought we were on the hotel website 3) the fees took the total price up above what I could have paid on the the actual hotel website. Get a room has sent us an email indicating they have refunded our money.

*After original issue, customer service reached out via email to resolve the issue, and I am satisfied with how it all worked out. Below is the original review*

I reserved a double non-smoking queen room for what I thought was a good price: $70-ish. After reserving, got charged $30+ in charges and fees for the convenience of using getaroom as a 3rd party reserver. Found out at check-in that the room cost $54. Pretty disappointing to have paid like TWICE AS MUCH AS NECESSARY. But it gets worse!

After a slight mishap where the front desk tried to charge me a second time for my room, I headed to my reserved room.

Upon entering my room, only ONE QUEEN BED. In my double non-smoking queen room. Called the front desk, they cant help me because it was a third-party reservation. Called getaroom.com customer service, who repeatedly assured me that DOUBLE NON-SMOKING QUEEN always means ONE QUEEN BED.

I made my frustration known, asked what my options were, and was told they cant help me at all. Cant cancel my reservation. Cant refund me. Cant switch my room. None of my concerns were actually addressed, and nobody even tried to help me. I was just repeatedly told there was nothing anyone could do.

Im an unemployed father of 2 with one on the way and being taken advantage of like this is really hurtful.

Fraud!

I called the number on a website that portrayed itself as the Holiday Inn booking site. The person I spoke to, and booked with, also portrayed himself as being with Holiday Inn. Three days before check-in, I needed to change from 2 nights to 1. I was told that my "Free Cancellation" would cost me $182 in penalties. The original booking could not be amended. A "new" reservation for 1 night, along with the penalty would cost the exact same as the 2 nights.
I did end up cancelling and rebooking direct with the hotel. At that point I learned that the 2 bedroom suite was actually 1 bedroom and a pull out sofa bed.
I'll take this up with my credit card company, but I don't expect much.
In the long run, I'm saving about $50 overall and learned something about making hotel reservations. Be very careful who you make reservations with!

Ripoff scam

My fiancé was looking for a best western hotel reservation number. Searched on it, Best Western came up... she called the number. THEY DID NOT IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS A BOOKING AGENT, THEY PRETENDED TO BE BEST WESTERN HOTEL... this is a scam SOB sight. They booked the room, sent an email to my finances email address... 50 more DOLLARS charged than the ACTUAL ROOM PRICE. I called back 5 minutes later... requesting to cancel reservation... THEY said it had to be cancelled 24 hours ago ( I kid you not)... I arrived at hotel, they had my name and no other information, they informed me they would need my card to charge nd for a room I was already being charged... THIS IS THEE BIGGEST SCAM GOING... I AM PUTTING A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU... I WANT MY $50 refunded. I pray that is all they scam charge to my card.

I had no idea when booking it was with a third party. It appeared as though it was the actual hotels website. Our event decided to cancel so I went to cancel our reservation to be told we are out 331.00! No offer of a partial refund or credit for when the event rescheduled. Worst customer service. Got hung up on twice when I requested Politely I may add for a manager. Third call the manager refused to even answer the phone when I want to wait to actually speak to them unless I give the rep my reservation number. The whole reason I don't give it is because I get hung up on

Needed to change one day on our reservation within a half hour of the original booking. They changed it without any problems, but when we asked when our card would be credited back we were informed they do not give refunds. They made sure to send an email with their terms after the fact. Maybe they should just be upfront when you call! We were also charged almost a hundred dollars more a night in fees! Hilton Hotels should be ashamed of themselves for portraying this site as their booking phone number!

Poor service from GetARoom!

I purchased a double queen but were only given a single queen room. My confirmation explicitly stated double queen, which is what I paid for, but the manager stated that GetARoom only paid them form a single queen room. GetARoom and the hotel both just sat there pointing fingers at each other. This is dishonest and close to fraud on your part! I'll never use your system again!

SCAM!

Booked a room at Hotel Napoelon in Memphis. Was charged over $500 for the room after the site said the rate was $369. I also thought that I was on the Hotel Napoleon's web site. The first time I knew of the $161.55 in fees and "tax recovery" charges was after I clicked to book the room. And buy the way, the hotel added on the fees and taxed to get to the $369 total. THIS IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM!

My wife booked a room for us using GetARoom. She wasn't price shopping or anything; she simply clicked on the first link she saw when she typed in the hotel we were looking at, and she booked it. It happened to be GetARoom.com.

We've used sites like this before, whether it be hotels.com or priceline, or whatever, and I know that they don't really get you lower rates very often the way they advertise that they do. But at least they usually give you the same rate. This place charged us $159 per night for our two nights, but then added 123 DOLLARS IN TAXES & FEES! My wife was just clicking through and didn't really catch how outrageous it was until later.

I went to the hotel's website, where our room was $146 per night and we paid the normal $40 or so in taxes and fees. So I guess GetARoom thought their service was worth EIGHTY DOLLARS?! Not to mention the fact that they were also charging an extra $13 per night for the room. This site is just ripping people off, so stay away!

I guess the only positive thing I can say is that it wasn't difficult to cancel the reservation, so at least I didn't have to pay those ridiculous fees. Nonetheless, it's absurd that they even tried that garbage. I hope this place goes out of business quick.

DON'T USE THEM!

I THOUGHT WHEN I BOOKED THE ROOM THAT IT WAS THROUGH HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS AND SUITES. IT WAS NOT, IT WAS THOUGH THIS GETAROOM SCAMMER! I was grossly overcharged, because I went by the room rate advertised of $127.00 per night.

Booked two rooms and ended up being charged $403.14. When I called they said they had over-charged me for 2 extra people in the one room. I got a WHOPPING $ 20.16 Credit... The manager at Holiday Inn Express gave me her card and said to have someone contact her, that there was no way she could come up with the amount that I was charged. The lady I spoke with just wouldn't listen to me, JUST NO REFUNDS AND NO CANCELLATIONS, ( I guess I was lucky to get the $20.16 refunded! NEVER USE THIS SITE.! I am going to dispute the whole charge with A/E... They should be investigated!

Absolute worst customer service ever experienced. This was done on a Drs. Behalf and from a business standpoint - and still absolutely no customer service support whatsoever. Contacted about 8 times and have spent several hours and weeks trying to resolve issue without any help at all. Absolutely disgusted.

Cheap price for a reason.

My famiy and I stayed at the Collins for 4 days in May. Front dest blonde guy never smiled and seemed unhappy. They put us on the second floor and we have 2 small kids. We received a call from the desk saying we were making too much noise. They should never put a family with 2 young kids on the second floor since the floor must be paper thin. Not impressed with their Pizza Hut at all. Much better resturants a short walk north. Nice beach access 1/2 a block south. The maids are the best part of this motel. They are excellent! The gift shop, I love Miami Beach, just south of the Hotel is a total Brazillian lesbian owned rip off. They try to embarrass you into buying overprised junk so please avoid them.

Booked 2 rooms for one night in Countryside, IL. Stayed at same hotel a couple of months back and booked same class rooms directly through the hotel chain. This time somehow got sent to GetARoom. Didn't notice the change and booked the rooms. I was surprised by the total price. Their Service Charge explaination follows: "This charge includes the estimated amount we pay the hotel for occupancy related taxes owed by the hotel and any amounts charged to us for resort fees, cleaning fees, and other fees. The balance of the charge is a fee we, the hotel supplier and/or the website you booked on, retain as part of the compensation for our and/or their services which varies based on factors such as location, the amount, and how you booked." Estimated tax? Other fees? Cleaning fees? Etc. -- No idea exactly what I paid for what fee but the cost of two $130 per night rooms was over 34% higher than the room rate for the 2 rooms. I know Chicago taxes are exorbitant but not nearly that much. I would expect to know how much I am paying for each of the listed "fees". I might not like it but at least I wouldn't go away feeling something is being hidden from view. Makes you wonder if you are being fleeced.

I recently tried to book a hotel in Costa Rica. The site advertised a room rate of $328.00 CDN per night plus 13% tax. When I asked for the grand total, the call taker would not provide one instead repeatedly telling me I could see all of that on the invoice once I had paid and got the email. I refused and so finally got a grand total of just over $1900. By my math that was over $400.00 higher than what the room should be. He wanted me to pay for the room first and then worry about the amount I was paying and insisted that the charge was completely refundable if I wasn't happy with the price. Again I refused and he put me on hold and then came back with a different amount, saying he had made a mistake and I now had a new amount that was around $1482. 56. He then told me that to get that price he had to remove our 2 children from the room booking and that I would have to advise the hotel that there would be 4 of us staying and we would have to pay the hotel an additional $40.00 per child per night. I was not comfortable with this wholesaler of hotel rooms, the lack of transparency was alarming and sent so many red flags up that I felt compelled to write this review. I did not complete the reservation with this company.
