After 4 months of calling this company, speaking to many individuals, they finally issued me a refund. This is after I left a horrible review on this site. It was only until then, someone from their company cared enough to take me seriously. The woman who called me was the only person I talked to in the 4 months of calling their customer service team who didn't run me circles and who actually explained the problem and solved it. Thank you Carrie! If only I had spoken to her from day 1,2 or even 3, this review would have never happened.
Booked a week and half in advance for a weekend only to have plans changed. When I booked I was told I had up to the previous day to cancel with free cancelation, only to find out that was not true. Julio from getaroom ID number 0050 says it doesn't matter if u have to cancel 5 min after you book you will not get a full refund. They take one nights fees and will refund the rest, which is not what I was told when I booked. Save your time and money and do not use this company. I will be posting this review on all social media's so everyone can see what this company does also with the screen shots of the other reviews on here.
I booked a hotel room and then cancelled within the cancellation deadline. My request for a refund received the following replies. First reply incorrectly stated room was non refundable. Second reply was I missed the deadline to cancel. Third reply requested documentation that I submitted a cancellation request...attached to my email to them requesting cancellation! NOTE all of these relies included my initial email requesting cancellation proving these first two replies were lies. Fourth and final reply was...sorry, get a rom has already paid the hotel so no refund is possible!. My next step was to... my credit card company. AVOID them. They are either very stupid or very crooked!

A week prior to My reservation, I requested to move my reservation to the following week. With sources like hotels.com or direct through the hotel this would not have been a problem. Getaroom stated they have a zero cancellation, refund or transfer policy. However I am certain they are able to cancel with Hilton at zero cost to them. They are pocketing $. But it is the first time for everything and being burnt by this establishment! It never happen to me again. I will never use nor recommend this service to anyone.

This company acts and leads you to believe that they are the hotel you are booking with. Used a bank card to hold the room but low and behold they billed me on that card. So got hit with a nice over draft payment from my bank. They took the money out of my account 2 days before we even got our room. Tried to get a hold of someone in customer service that took a act of God 5 automated phone calls later (they do not have a customer service line on their website) got to finally talk to a human being and her answer was sorry about that but I can't do anything for you. The room was $60 more going through them than the hotel directly. So add my bank surcharge and it became a very expressive night.

I mistakenly booked the wrong night for a hotel in Washington DC. Called immediately to correct the error. Customer service told me they would need to book the correct night and could not guarantee a refund for the incorrect night.
Have been on hold for over 53 minutes trying to get a simple mistake resolved, and still no resolution.
Will book directly with the hotel in the future

It was under construction kinda messy but exciting. The front desk clerk was shown my confirmation he said it told him nothing to give my last name. Did that got to the room had some left over food in fridge called for a clean up. They came took out the food cleaned it up. Nice stay had a minor situation would stay again.
Apparently, it is impossible to change your reservation without getting charged, no matter what their policy says. We tried to cancel the second night of our two night stay well within the cancellation window for the hotel. We were told that in order to do that, we would have to cancel the reservation entirely (thus incurring a charge for the first night), and re-book... making one night cost the same as two no matter what. When I mentioned that it was an absurd policy, they offered nothing except to say, repeatedly, that it is "impossible" to change a reservation. At best, they are indifferent to customers, and are a scam at worst. Go to a more reputable site to make your third-party travel reservations... these guys are not worth it.
I was overcharged $200 and when I contacted customer service they where rude and very unprofessional. It should have been a simple booking but being overcharged and spoken to so rudely has put a real damper on our trip. They refused to help and their only suggestion was that they would cancel my booking but still charge me the full amount absolute blackmail.

If you wish to spend hours over the phone with stupid people that cannot assist you, that's here! They could not just cancel one night from my reservation, I ended up booking a second reservation following their advice and was charged twice for the same room. They kept saying that they could not reach the hotel, then I called the hotel and they answered right away. I hope I will never use get a room services again.

I made a reservation for a hotel in London for the end of April and the charge on my card was 30% more than what I saw and agreed too. Additionally, the terms and conditions did not display on payment nor was a provided with a pre-payment summary. I went to cancel the booking within 10 minutes of making it and was told I would have to pay $800 in cancellation charges. I am a student and I just simply don't know how they can justify charging $800 dollars to cancel a $1000 booking for the end of April. It is not like this is a last minute cancellation. There is more than enough time to make up the revenue
UPDATE: By way of an update, I would like to state that 2-3 days after my initial review, Getaroom did refund me the full amount of the charge and they handled the complaint quickly and professionally.

This is absolutely the worst site I have ever been on. I thought I was booking with the resort, but, somehow got hoodwinked. I called the resort to confirm our taxi pickup, the day before we leave, and was told our reservation is nowhere to be found. Of course, getaroom has already collected the $600.00, and I've been on the phone trying to get it fixed for over 1.5 hours.
Terrible customer service... absolutely terrible.

Absolute worst customer service ever experienced. This was done on a Drs. Behalf and from a business standpoint - and still absolutely no customer service support whatsoever. Contacted about 8 times and have spent several hours and weeks trying to resolve issue without any help at all. Absolutely disgusted.
Like others here, when I booked my hotel, it looked like I was on the hotel's site. I was surprised when I saw how high the "taxes and fees" were. After digging into the Terms and Conditions that I said I read, and reading the super fine print, you see where they can charge you these extra fees. They charged me an extra $40 for a one night stay. If I booked with the hotel, it would have been $183 but with Getaroom, which I didn't realize I was using, it was $223. Not a good feeling to learn that. Not a trustworthy company.

Customer service at getaroom.com was right on top of things when I posted my disappointment. They were very nice and resolved my concern. Very easy to work with. So I'm upgrading original 1 star to a 4 star.
Thought I was calling the hotel, was hijacked by these guys who made me think I was dealing with the hotel people. Paid quite a bit more for the room, some of which they refunded after my less than stellar review. This is a totally unnecessary service, and a scam. Just one more hassle in this world i don't need.
Our stay was cool and cloudy and we still had plenty to do. All but one the pool was heated so the kids were entertained for hours. There are water slides, a lazy river, hot tubs, you name it. Our room was recently renovated and its beautiful. Our view was amazing. We will definitely stay here next time we come.
My elderly mother booked a room through Getaroom.com but then physically cancelled her reservation at the hotel where she was going to stay. She received a cancellation number and was informed everything was taken care of. She was later billed because she was unaware that she still needed to contact Getaroom.com. After working with Getaroom.com, they refunded her credit card. I'm so happy with their prompt attention to this matter.

Stay away... do not book a room with these guys. They ripped me off approximately $30.00 US dollars. An advertised room for $67.00 (which when I booked it did not state in US dollars). I told them that it is wrong that they can't advertise a room without stating what currency it is in then charge me US dollars. When I got my bill it was over $140.00 Canadian. When I called to complain they admitted that they are having a lot of complaints but NOW the website states in US dollars, Rip off artists big time. Stay away!
I booked a hotel room through these con artists and my card was charged the quoted rate. Upon checking out of the hotel, the actual bill was $230 less than what GetARoom had charged me. Think I even had a prayer of getting that money back? Of course not. Their "customer service" gave me the usual run-around, eventually offering me a paltry $78 credit. DO NOT USE under any circumstance.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.

There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
