It was great to talk with a real person and he took the time to help me through a problem that he (Lue) resolved for me.
This company has a modus operandi for wearing down customers who have any issue with the initial reservation. 1. Refusal to do anything. 2. Refusal to connect you with a supervisor. 3. Read review sites for negative comments. 4. Immediately contact you with a resolution in exchange for a better review.
I did receive my refund after going thru this whole process. I initially only wanted to adjust my check-in dates to a week sooner and had confirmed with the lodging site that they had the availability. I have read so many reviews of this company that are almost identical to mine.
Advice to consumers: make your reservations directly with the lodging site.
Advice to Getaroom: lose the first string "customer service" rep's with their inflexibility and stoic responses. Just treat your customers the way the second string does - in their first request for assistance - and you wouldn't have so many bad reviews to deal with in the first place.
I booked a room my mistake clicked the button twice. Called right away, called the hotel. No way were they going to help. I had to pay for both reservations.

After 4 months of calling this company, speaking to many individuals, they finally issued me a refund. This is after I left a horrible review on this site. It was only until then, someone from their company cared enough to take me seriously. The woman who called me was the only person I talked to in the 4 months of calling their customer service team who didn't run me circles and who actually explained the problem and solved it. Thank you Carrie! If only I had spoken to her from day 1,2 or even 3, this review would have never happened.
These people are complete crooks! We found a recent price online for a Hampton Inn room. So we called and could hardly understand the lady on the other end of the phone. She quoted us a room fee of $109. We we're happy. Three days later I look at credit card statement and their is a service fee of $111.32! The lady never mentioned this! How is this even legal? I tried calling their 1-800 customer service number and of courses it is an automated service and after 3 attempts, I was unsuccessful in talking to any actual person. I'm finding posts all over the internet now of how dishonest this company is. I will forever look closely from now on when booking a room online to make sure it is not through www.getaroom.com!
Kayak linked to GetARoom when searching for hotel rooms and the website had the best price for a hotel room, saved several hundred dollars.
The usual charge for booking with the hotel was $396.00 They charged me $577.00.
I was in the process of arranging for my wife's funeral so didn't review the reservation.
If anyone books with getaroom beware.

Just looked on my credit card statement. Charged $4,321.39 on 25/27 Feb. Canceled booking, as I needed to rebook with one less day. Then credited $4,184.33 on 12/14 March. So lost NZ$137.96 in the process simply because I needed (because of flights) to stay at hotel Sun-Thu instead of Sun-Fri. So was not refunded the full amount, as promised. Don't really want to spend another hour on the phone, calling from New Zealand.
Terrible do not use! Very rude and fraudulent! Cancelled a reservation 3 days prior and still charged credit card. Filing a fraudulent charge with BBB!
After I gave them the below review, I got a phone call saying they would refund my money and they have since done so.
I wish I could give zero stars. I reserved a room through what I thought was the hotel website, only to find out later it had gone through a third party. When trying to cancel due to findinf s better deal they told me it as non refundable. This is absurd to me! Total scam!
Booked room for $145. Put in cc number for them to charge me $57 in taxes and add in charges. Called immediately to inquire and was told the system is down for maintenance. Wendy said to call back in 1-2 hour. Explained we would be there in 2 hours. Sorry system is down.
I hung up and called hotel who said it is only 145 with taxes.
Called customer service again and Wendye said she couldn't hear me because the phone was breaking up. I told her I had 4 bars and just spoke with them and she said it might be their phones because of the maintenance.

The site is misleading when you are trying to book with Holiday Inn. I asked about state rate and they gave it to me on the phone but when booked they gave me a different rate. NEVER AGAIN! When I told them that the hotel gave me a lower rate, they gave me some bull crap excuse and would not change.
Stole $4,700 from my credit card for a 3 night trip I booked to NYC for the end of this month. Their online booking system changed the dates that I input & booked me a 12 day trip that I never would have or could have ever booked! My kids are only on spring break 5 days total! Also added a $1300 booking fee. BEWARE! I've notified BBB, every review sight & fraud department. I will call the hotel directly daily screaming & get attorneys involved until I get this trip canceled & my money back.! Customer service call center claims to have your problem escalated # & never ever gets back to you. Total scam! Going to the media next. They can't keep stealing!

This company pretends to be the hotel you are looking to book at.
It misleads the consumer by making it look like you are booking directly, they charged my card over $500 dollars for a room at the wrong location.
When I asked them to simply change the hotel location they said they could not.

I thought I was on the Davenport Grand Hotel's website to book a room in Spokane for late July. They obviously pay for google keywords so their site comes up first with the hotel's name. It looked completely legit however when I confirmed my booking with my credit card it they added $74 in "tax and recovery" fees! This is about 50% of the total room cost. They then told me I could not cancel this reservation, or I could cancel but I would not get a refund. I am seeking a resolution with my credit card company What a scam!
I called to Holiday Inn and made a reservation, they gave me a reservation number which I tough it was from ( Holiday Inn) When I called to ask for the confirmation, they told me that I booked it through Get a room, which was impossible because I dialed to the Holiday phone number. Somehow this people took all my info from them and made a charge for 600 usd dollars. I NEVER CALLED THEM!
When I called to cancel any reservation with them they told me that they have already charge my credit card and that they wont give my money back.

We paid $36.00 dollars more than if we had booked with the hotel THE GALT HOUSE LOUISVILLE KY. They would do nothing to help with the situation. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
