On February 5th I located what I believed to be the website for the Hilton Garden Inn in Phoenix, I never use a 3rd party when making reservations, and made reservations through the site for February 11th. I was immediately charged $262.49. I recall vaguely thinking that was unusual as the hotels normally charge after you arrive. On February 11th we drove the 3-1/2 hours to Phoenix for a concert and when I went to check-in at the Hilton I was told there was no reservation under my name. I located my confirmation email and it was then that I was advised the reservation had been made through getaroom.com. I'd never even heard of that business! The desk clerk attempted to locate my reservation using the confirmation number I was provided and I was told it didn't conform to the Hilton's system and he couldn't locate anything. Fortunately they had a room available for $20 less. As soon as we got into our room I contacted my credit card company and advised them of the situation and I filed a dispute for the charges and they froze the payment. A few weeks later I was advised that getaroom.com was disputing my dispute and when I received the paperwork it showed they were claiming they spoke with "Jeff" at the front desk of the hotel and I had cancelled my reservation! They also claimed that they follow each hotels cancellation policy and they said the Hilton does not refund on cancellations! I contacted the Hilton and spoke with the Front Desk Manager. She advised me they do not have a Jeff working the front desk and was kind enough to send me an email stating the same. She also advised their cancellation policy is they will refund with a 48 hour notice. I provided the email, along with additional information to my credit card company and was advised today that the dispute has been resolved and my account credited the full disputed amount. Bottom line is be very cautious when making reservations! I will no longer make them online! I had to waste a lot of my own time because of this disreputable company!
The person that I talked with was very knowledgable, comprehensive in aking sure she had the right reservation for me. What more can I say.
Booked a room, HAD NO IDEA I WAS in A 3RD PARTY RESERVATION LINK. GAR "NEVER" IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES UNTIL THE ENTIRE SALE WAS OVER. THE SALES REP TOLD ME I COULD GET MY HILTON HONOR POINTS WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL, WHICH WAS FALSE, HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS RESERVATION CAME WITH CANCEL ANY TIME! AND IT WAS IN RED BOLD PRINT ON MY RECEIPT. WELL WHENI NEEDED TO LEAVE TOWN ONE DAY EARLY THEY WOULD NOT REFUND ONE NIGHT AND REFUSED TO WORK WITH MY AMERICAN EXPRESS COMPANY TO REFUND ME... CLAIMED I WAS THE FRAUDULENT ONE.
GET A ROOM IS A SCAMMING CON ARTIST, AND IF THEY READ THIS AND FEEL LIKE THEY WOULD LIKE TO MAKE RETROBUTION ON MY CASE BEFORE I GO SCREAMING IT TO EVERYONE THEY CAN LOOK UP RESERVATION... R*******933... THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBLITY FOR THEIR POORLY TRAINED STAFF AND THE WRITING IN THE CONTRACTS. A SALE NEVER ENDS AT THE END OF A SALE, THIS ONE HAS GONE SOUR AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM TELLING EVERYONE UNLESS THEY DECIDE TO REFUND MY 198.99... and stop passing the buck
Spoke with a great customer service agent, Carrie M., she resolved all my issues, questions and concerns. Thank you. Went to 4 stars, will follow up with 5 after all is complete.
When booking my hotel reservation for last weekend I accidentaly booked on GETAROOM since the website listed the "name of the hotel.com" at the top of the page, making it seem as if I was on the hotel's webpage. GETAROOM's profile states: Getaroom.com offers travelers access to incredibly low rates via our state-of-the-art hotel and lodging website (www.getaroom.com). That statement is misleading since it doesn't tell you that their added tax/fees will actually cost you more that booking directly with the hotel. Customer service is poor if you need to make changes - long holds and disconnected phone calls.
Was charged in US dollars for some reason, and booked 2 people instead of the one I asked for. Will not use again
We made a reservation for 2 rooms for 2 nights and when we got confirmation, it was for 3 nights. We immediately called back to correct, we were basicly told, tough luck. No change. On top of that, we could of walked into the door of the Hamptom and saved $39 per night and would not of had to stay the 3rd night. Getaroom will scam you. Do NOT use them. PS: If i could of rated a zero, i would have.
Terrible lying experience. On the phone 30 plus minutes to get no resolve. No seems to able to help keep putting you on hold and another person picks to start all over again.
BEWARE! They hijack you from other sites and add huge fees and NO ABILITY to cancel. Hilton is aware of it. I tried to stay on the Hampton site and was hijacked by getaroom. They charged me $137 for the room and $111 for their fee! If you try to cancel they refund NOTHING! Thank goodness for my credit card company... I am going to BBB and States attorney generals office. The site also has no human to talk to. Just recordings about losing all your money if you have a problem. STAY AWaY!
The sheets were dirty, the toilet didn't flush, they didn't clean the rooms, the water pipes burst which meant that we didn't have water to shower, and they didn't return the money they promised.
We are so disappointed. We did weeks of research and found an incredible deal at a well-regarded hotel. With just one week until our trip, we received a phone call to tell us that there had been a pricing error and they were cancelling our reservation. Now we are scrambling without time to properly research hotels to book something.
I did a resevation for a room in London for 9 days. It was a very good deal I was very happy! But 1 week before the check-in I received a call from GetARoom to cancel my reservation... They said that the deal was an error. The hotel do not want to accept the price so GetARoom cancels my reservation... I understand the hotel don't want to assume the GetARoom's error, but I do not neither assume their mistake... The only one solution for GetARoom is to cancel my reservation 6 days before my check-in without any compasation or other offers... What a bad customer service and troubles for me to find a last minute hosting.
NEVER TRUST DEALS FROM GETAROOM
After my review I received a phone call from getaroom and their customer service person said they would refund us the cost of breakfast for our stay. They took responsibility for the mistake between the hotel and booking company. My issue was resolved.
I called to book a reservation through Holiday Inn with the number I thought I got directly from the website for Holiday Inn. When I arrived at the hotel and checked in she told me it was through a third party. They had the reservation so I didn't think much about it. The next morning we went down for breakfast that was to be included in our reservation that we paid a higher price for and she said the reservation they had for us didn't include breakfast and we would have to contact our third party vendor for help. The help number wouldn't give me a person, just kept hanging up on me. I pulled up the reservation in email and it said free breakfast on it, but the hotel couldn't see that because it was a third party. Then I see the $107.16 fee for the booking added on to my reservation.
We are home now and I finally found a different number to call and got a person that said you are a third party vendor and the lack of free breakfast was holiday inn's responsibility.
Your customer service said holiday inn should have looked at the reservation on my receipt and given us breakfast based on my reservation receipt not the reservation booked by your company. When I said refund he practically laughed at me!
When I booked she said the price with breakfast would be higher, was I sure I wanted that higher one and I said yes, because that was important to a family of four. I would like a refund for the higher priced "with breakfast" reservation for two nights that I paid for but didn't get. Because breakfast wasn't on the holiday inn's reservation for us and your customer service "help" number on my receipt would not give me a person to talk to about it while there.
Worst Company ever! Waited 5 hours after I took a train to DC. For them to cancel my reservation spent Friday not on the phone for 2 hours. I'm SOL insane. Don't ever book through them. Didn't even get a credit
This company is a scam! Do not use them! Unknown to me, I was redirected from my original booking site. My $600 total booking charge for three nights at a hotel in Northern California, turned into $821 on my final bill. Non-refundable, no cancellation. I was charged more than 35% of my bill as a service charge. This site took me for $221. It is a total rip-off. Stay away from them.
I was shocked that I saved more than $40 using this site. Easy, great choices, great graphics and quick check out process.
Somehow this company popped up when I was inquiring about a reservation at the Worthington in Fort Worth. I had received a discount in the past from this hotel for being a fire fighter. I called this company unknowingly to make my reservation. They never stated who they were and carried on with the reservation process as if they were the Worthington staff. I asked multiple times about this discount and whether it was still available. The assistant on the line checked multiple times and never stated she was not the hotel or whether the discount was available or not. She came back with a rate of $188 which was the rate I had paid the year prior with a discount so I thought nothing of it... Once again they never stated their company name just answered the phone as if they were the hotel and carried on throughout the transaction. When it came to the final charges there was nearly $100 in additional charged making the total $282. When I asked about why it was so much they stated things like the hotels are required by law to charge tax etc which is true but then lumped the rest up as amenities and other quick words thrown in. I confirmed then got the email from "getaroom" and it occured to me that I had been tricked. With my reservation being the next day and in a busy area there was no way to fight it with my credit card company and risk loosing my money booking a second reservation while the one through "getaroom" was dealt with.
I would advise anyone considering this company to stay as far away as possible. Nearly 1000 1 star reviews just like mine with the same issues should paint a very clear picture of the business practices of this company.
Thought I was booking through legit web site. Final invoice didn't add up then calculated that they had charged £70 over the odds to book room for 2 nights!?!?!?!?!
Complete scam...
They tacked on a $60 "service fee" but listed it nowhere until after I had paid. Then you find out immediately there are NO refunds. Very unhappy.
They made some mistakes but made up for them and discounted my stay. Overall things worked out fine.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
