Fandango rips off their customers and refuses refunds for honest mistakes. I bought the groupon deal for $26 credit for two fandango tickets. I used the code and got credited but then they charge me a convenience fee and others making it not free. I tried to buy tickets for the following day but it bought tickets for the same day and I contacted Fandango customer support waiting over 45mins to talk to someone then they just tell me your out of luck we can't do anything for you since you used a promo code for your purchase they could only refund my convenience fee. I asked them why they couldn't just give me the exact same show and time for the following day and or credit for 2 ticket as i purchased. They refused and just threw a link at me from their website regarding refunds and exchanges... They gave absolutely no care or consideration to me as a customer. I highly would not recommend using Fandango or buying any groupons for their tickets ever unless you don't mind throwing your money away. Fandango you just keep pissing off customers, no wonder everyone just going to move to Moviepass. Later Fandango never again using this crap service.
Jurassic Dominon came out in theatres and Carl Jr restraunt had a special If you buy primal meal you'll get free movie ticket to see Jurrassic Domion so my boyfriend and I bought into the deal and Fandango offered the tickets it was so easy to get the code to work the day we went to the theatre which landed on a QR code for the movie ticket person to scan. I've used Fandango in the past through thete tv app when I'd get promotions I'd use to rent movies. This is the first time I've bought tickets through Fandango and seems pretty fast and cool. This is one the best movie apps out there to buy movie tickets and rent and there is also a point system in there site to earn products like free movies or rentals, I use occasionally.
I received a Fandango gift card for Christmas. First off I made the mistake of trying to use it at the local theater, where I was informed you have to get the tickets on line not at the theater, my mistake. I went to their website, they show all the movies at all the local theaters, that's wonderful. Too bad when you try to buy a ticket, only a select few of the local theaters accept Fandango, And for me those theaters were not the most convenient. Then it is not obvious where you were you enter the ridiculously long card number and pin and to be surprised when you accomplish all that they tack on an in"convenience" fee of several dollars. It wasn't any more fun taking it to the theater and wait in line with the rest of crowd just to have them enter the code number, not very convenient. All and all the service is costly, inconvenient and pretty much there is no added value for the added cost. I have asked family not to buy me Fandango movie tickets. There is no value or convenience to using their "service".
I purchased tickets through Fandango for Harkins Theater. Harkins Theater clearly offers a military discount to active military but since their site was down, I was forced to use Fandango. Fandango reneged and lied when I asked about military discounts telling me that the only reason they did not offer it was because the theater did not. A complete lie. The site kept switching the date I was trying to purchase to the day prior. I noticed that there was a "Worry Free" policy that meant I could easily exchange or refund my tickets two hours prior to the show. It was 8 days so O was not concerned. I repurchased the tickets again for the correct day. Again, the site kept pushing me to the prior day, but finally I was able to get the correct day to click in. I made the second purchase and went in to try to obtain a refund for the erroneous purchase. I could not get the refund because NOW the error tells me that since my purchase was over $100, I could NOT get a refund. So, I called customer service. I was placed on hold for 52 minutes. I explained the situation to the operator. She was unconcerned about the military discount issue and told me I could only get credit after jumping through a number of hoops. I did not want credit especially since I never care to use this company again. I finally got the credit only after they extracted a fee.
SCAM DO NOT USE THIS SITE
I bought 2 tickets July 26th and saw July 28th my account was charged twice. I called and was told it was reported to corporate and could take up to 10 business days for refund. I called them on business day 11 to ask about to progress of my refund and had a very rude man snap at me that I just have to wait and see when (and honestly I now feel "if") I get my refund. Asked to talk to supervisor and was sent to a voicemail.
I hope people read all this bad reviews and just buy tickets at theaters. You will save money and time!
I purchased tickets to Batman V Superman for Wednesday the 23, VIP. I Get to the theater, and they said its cancelled. I took off work to see this movie and all they could say is sorry.
We were given $50 in Fandango gift cards. I couldn't enter it on the website so I called customer service. I was told that there system is not capable of using these cards at all. COMPLETE FRAUD!
My husband tried to buy Star Wars movie tickets for 13 people via Fandango during Christmas time a week in advance. The transaction "completed" (he was charged for the tickets) but he never actually received the tickets. Unfortunately, the seats were "reserved" (even though we never received the tickets for them) and we were unable to see the movie with his family during Christmas (the theater wouldn't let us in to see the movie without the tickets, not enough other seats were available, and we couldn't pay for the tickets regularly because they were "reserved"... by us... even though we had no tickets). Fandango ruined our family outing to see Star Wars.
Unfortunately, my husband used a gift card to pay for the tickets. He contacted Fandango customer support (waited 3 hours on the phone and online) and was told that his gift card would be credited. It never was. He has called them back 3 more times (each time with a 3+ hour wait), and he hasn't been able to speak with a customer support agent since (the call disconnects). He will be filing a BBB complaint. Stay FAR, FAR away from Fandango!
Fandango has quiet a racket going on we were given a gift card for fandango when we went to use it at their kiosk it wouldn't accept it and when we used it on their website mind your this is a fandango gift card so can't use it anywhere else they charge a 4$ convenience fee for using their currency this is outright theft what this means is your 25$ gift card is worth at best 21$ DON"T GIVE FANDANGO YOUR MONEY!
I purchased tickets for the wrong theatre on Baldwin Road in Auburn, MI, I live in California and was attempting to purchase tickets for the Baldwin Hills AMC theatre. There is a 3 hour time zone which prevented me from correcting my error "before" the movie started! I called the Auburn theatre manager and she could not help me. I finally found contact information and composed my email…the response was wait 72 hours, no response came. I found the customer service line and she said that there was nothing they could do because I waited too late. I really wanted my $34.00 back. Customer Service Rep said that I could not speak to a supervisor (they don't talk to "any"customers) she would pass it on but no guarantee, this is the last response, "We are unable to offer a refund or exchange (see our return policy regar I suggested certain" restrictions based on theatre chain) and then they recommend I open a free Fandango VIP account…and then the email said thank you for "understanding" and she hopes that I will "continue" to make Fandango my choice for online movie tickets
That same day I purchased tickets for the correct theatre but that is the last tickets I buy via Fandango! Shady…Shady…Shady
If I were able to give 0 stars I would. I requested a refund due to no sound on a rental movie. The relresentative refused unless I would unplug my tv and omug it back in. Once I did and the movie still did not work, he said he would have to email corporate and they would determine if I rated a review. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I purchased 2 tickets today so I could take my 8 year old niece to the movies tomorrow. After purchasing the tickets I glanced at the confirmation and realized I picked today's date - although I was pretty sure I had picked tomorrows movie. I made a very innocent and honest mistake. I finally found a phone number to call customer service and after waiting for about 30 minutes (no joke) I got a harsh and insensitive woman on the line. She had no problem telling me how sorry she was but that there wasn't anything she could do since the movie had just started at 2:30 and I wasn't within the two hour window. I asked to speak to a manager or someone higher than herself and she told me that there was no one that I could speak to at that time. I told her all I wanted to do was take my niece to the damn movie and didn't care about a refund and asked if she could change the date somehow on the tickets to be for tomorrow. Fandango obviously must be rolling in the dough and won't go bankrupt anytime soon since I'll bet this happens all the time.
After reading all these bad reviews I was a little sceptical about this service but it turns out that I have more than two braincells so I was able to purchase for the right movie on the right day at the right theatre. I mean all the info is right there for you to select and review before the purchase is finalized so I don't know how all these idiotic people are complaining like children when THEY messed up their order.
Also, since I was going to get off work late I was easily able to get credit for the money I paid and used that to purchase tickets for a later time through my account without waiting on hold or speaking with anyone.
So to all the people throwing online tempertantrums because they purchased for the incorrect day or didn't get a refund because they were not smart enough to go through their account to refund their own orders before the movie started I only have one thing to say... I pray that you do not have children since the world doesn't need anymore low IQ individuals.
Worst website ever. Everytime i search a movie with its name, It displas the name of the movie but can not locate the theater where it is playing. Waste of time.
They charge a $3.00 convenience charge to use a gift card that is not convenient... youre better off giving cash or giving a gift cart from the theater. $3.00 Really?
Sucks. Fees are rediculous. The only reason we used was because we had a gift card. The fees ate up a quarter of the gift card. We have already told people not to give this as a gift. AVOID!
I waited to talk to customer support for a good 30 minutes. The help I needed was probably very minuscule and wouldn't really be trouble to any one. Finally getting to speak to someone, my problem was not resolved at the slightest. I wanted to exchange my tickets for a different time, at a different theater, but for the same day as my original tickets. I did use a promo code to get my original tickets so I couldn't refund or exchange my tickets online. The person I was speaking to was so extremely rude and inpatient. I know that probably 100 other people were waiting for help but I was once one of them too, waiting so long for no help at all. She told me since I used a promo code to get my tickets she couldn't do anything about exchanging the tickets. Which I find so surprising because I just wanted the tickets for a different time and in a different place but for the same day! I didn't want to refund the tickets, even I know that would not be able to be done but I thought a simple exchange could be made by such a big company. I couldn't believe how rude she was being, speaking to me like I was stupid. She kept repeating the same thing again and again, things that I already knew. I waited to talk to her for at least 30 minutes so the least I was expecting was just to give me credit for different tickets if I couldn't exchange it. I hardly doubt that $20 dollars would set back fandango. I'm never buying form fandango again and I hope that no one else does. Now I have to say goodbye to seeing my movie, thanks a lot fandango.
Bad customer service sat on hold for an 60 minutes when they answered they were rude and put me back on hold I wanted to talk to a supervisor after another 20 mi Utes I hung up
I had a promotional code from groupon that was going to expire. I attempted to use it. It was applied but due to an error with my CC, when I reentered the information, it was removed. When I contacted customer service right after (Karen), they advised me to go to the theater for the refund. They didn't mention that the convenience fee would not be refunded. I got the refund from the movie theater but not the fee. When I contacted fandango about it, this time speaking to Brittany (must more intelligent), I was advised that what Karen told me was correct procedure since the theater does the refund and basically, it wasn't Karen's job to tell me that the convenience fee was not refundable since its in the purchasing policy. I then spoke to a supervisor who advised he couldn't refund. I don't know what supervisor doesn't have the ability to process a refund. I work for customer service and I know if a customer contacts you, you need to tell the customer everything, not leaving any important information (such as the fee won' t be refunded) out.
Gave us wrong seats, gave us wrong movie type from what we paid for. Convenience fee is a ripoff...and is terrible. We got wrong seats and had a theater with subtitles only...what the hell.
Answer: Shauna, try Ken's suggestion. After years as a loyal customer & "Fan" of Fandango, I had an issue that should have been easily resolved. When I finally spoke to a live CSR, the response & subsequent email were robotic & useless. I now buy gift cards from the theatres & save my $$ and time. Good luck to you, though!
Answer: You do Julie S., but if you purchase it within 2 hours of the movie you are out of luck and that's what I happened to do. I accidentally chose that same day rather than the next day (Saturday) and since I was within a 2 hour time frame they said too bad. Never will use them again that's for sure. It was an honest mistake and I explained that but the woman on the phone was very nasty.
Answer: I would try emailing them, unfortunately there is no one to call as far as I know. If that doesn't work why don't you try calling a theater near you that takes fandango, ask for a manager. Fandangos customer service is not good so I wish you luck. Thank you for your service, hope this helps Rose
Answer: I didn't wake up with a dead horse in my bed but all other evidence in dealing with Fandango indicate that they are mob-owned. Perhaps the mob has more morals. Maybe not mob-owned. What would be worse than the mob because that's likely who owns them. Difficult question to answer. Best not to do business with them anyway.
