Expedia's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and issues with booking accuracy. Many customers report difficulties in reaching live support, leading to frustrations over incorrect reservations, unexpected charges, and inadequate responses to cancellations. While some users appreciate the variety of options available through the platform, the overall sentiment reflects a lack of trust due to perceived unethical practices and inadequate support during critical situations. This feedback suggests a pressing need for Expedia to enhance its customer service responsiveness and transparency to rebuild consumer confidence.

Reserved a room thru Expedia, stayed my 3 nights and when I checked out I realized they charged me 70 more than the hotel did. Expedia told me they would keep the extra since I agreed to pay that. I told them I agreed to pay the hotel that not Expedia. If I had known they over price I would have just booked thru the hotel. I'll never use Expedia again
Buy a ticket is a nightmare with this company. You do everything correct but they said oh error but f take your money with no permission of you. This is real and I'm so mad because a representative who answer from his home tol me ah! Maybe your card has a lock! Silly guy then why took my money. I travel international and this time this company is treating my family so bad. I won't stop until this company reemburse a my money. Tucker's don't take money when the transaction is not completa buy you. This will be the last time will deal with Expedia I want any pan y you took from my bank acct and next time should have a better service.
I have been calling trying to redeem an airline credit since May. I was told by a Expedia agent I could use it when I was ready. I called before the credit was to expire and explained I was not ready to use the credit due to Covid cases still being high. Now that I'm trying to redeem the credit the past 3 Expedia agents have not been able to help me. One of them told me a flight specialist will contact me regarding my case. It's been almost 2 months now and I have not received a call or email. I am now looking to book through other agencies like Orbitz or Priceline because this experience has made me not want to purchase through Expedia ever again.
WENT AHEAD AND BOOKED MY FLIGHT WITHOUT BAGGAGE AFTER SELECTING BAGGAGE AND USELESS TO FIX IT DO NOT USE! $#*!ING SCAMMERS EXORTIONATE PRICES COMPARED TO BOOKING WITH AIRLINE DIRECTLY AND ZERO $#*!ING SUPPORT ABSOLUTE GARBAGE SCUM
Purchased a multi-city flight pairing on Swiss Air through Expedia. Swiss canceled the first leg of the flight. 4 hours of phone contact, email, chat and other runaround to finally force a telcon between Expedia and Swiss Air to prevent them from both telling me it was the other company's problem to refund the ticket on the flight that Swiss Air canceled. Absolutely ridiculous. No one knows what they are doing. Consistently passing the buck. I will NEVER book through Expedia again as it is a total nightmare.
We booked a family trip to Disneyland using Expedia and a travel agent, and flights got cancelled with Air Canada (never use this airline). I phoned Expedia and they did not help at all. They would not help to find alternate flights, and we ended up cancelling our trip. Expedia would not help to cancel hotel reservations or Disneyland tickets. They are eager to book and take your money, but will not help when things go wrong. I will NEVER use them again to book a big trip.
A few months ago I purchased round trip Business class tickets from Expedia. At the time of booking the site said to wait a couple hours before we could choose our seats on the two airlines we are flying from BOI-CDG. I was able to book our seats in Business class on AIRFRANCE first and then to Delta. Our flight from LAX-BOI was first class, seats book. Our first leg of the trip BOI-ALT we were in economy. I called and talked to customer service at Expedia and they said they are only allotted so many first class seats and to check back. So in the meantime I paid to upgrade our seats to economy + on the delta site. Today I was on the Expedia site and saw that there were 5 first class seats on the first leg of our trip so I called. I got to talk with Michael B. In the escalations department at Expedia were he informed me that they did us a favor by upgrading us to economy + and AIRFRANCE does not have first class and therefore there is nothing Expedia can do for us. I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to but Michael B. Said he was the top dog and he knew all. Well he doesn't know BC is first class, the only thing higher is a pod and not all planes have them. I will never use Expedia again, from now on I will book directly with the airline!
Paying for a room that the date was wrong. No refund at all and will never use Expedia again. They made a 157.00 and lost a customer for life
I book through expedia all the time and usually get great deals, but am I actually getting great deals? No I recently discovered its cheaper to go through the hotels directly. On 6/22 I accidentally booked aa night for the wrong day. I spent 3 hrs on the phone with expedia and the hotel to get a refund and book the correct day. I also learned that I should have booked directly with the hotel because it was cheaper. 7/2-3 room on expedia showed a higher rate for another hotel when I called this hotel directly to late them know i will be coming in late and I asked the room price it was cheaper. I show up to a hotel on 7/3-4 to find out to a dirty room, then moved to another dirty room. That the shower curtain rod was falling off the wall, there was no bedding provided for the pull out the couch, the pillows I asked for the bedding were dirty. The mattress pad on the pad was disgusting. There was nothing for breakfast and the behind the desk attendant was "kickin' in the office with his feet up". The was down and there was no laundry facility. I called expedia for a refund on the room, they said they would need approval from the hotel. Wait what? So long story short expedia is worthless and a waste of time.
We recently had to cancel a flight and car rental that we had arranged through Expedia. The reason was that I had an unexpected surgery with flight restrictions. We thought that since the reservations had been made over a month in advance, that there shouldn't be a problem getting a refund. We had to wrangle with multiple agents with Expedia, all of them outsourced and hard to understand. We managed to get a refund on the car rental, but the higher priced amount, (over one thousand dollars) they flat out refused to give back. We explained that an unexpected surgery was the reason, but they didn't care. I will never again use Expedia for travel plans, and will warn all my friends to do the same.
Booked a flight through Expedia the flight credit policy is basically worthless. Customer service is non existent
Been trying to use an $800 "flight voucher " for almost six months after Expedia artificially inflates the ticket price and tacks on a $99 service fee you are better off just booking a flight with a different airline
I've been buying plane tickets, hotels & rental cars from Expedia for years, until now I've had no issues because I hadn't needed to change or cancel my flights.
Recently, I had a medical issue with a cancer diagnosis in the family which renders my trip impossible. I called in to cancel the ticket for the affected traveler in my family and Expedia's outsourced CS has given me the run-around ever since. They asked for documentation from a doctor which supports the cancer diagnosis and I provided it within seconds to the agent. They insisted that they couldn't open images from links within the email so they'd need the images within the email.
I immediately pasted the images as attachments into the email and resent. Then they told me that they jpegs weren't good and that they'd need pdfs. Again, I handled it on-the-fly and resent. They said, "ok great now we need to wait 4-5 days for the airline's response."
A week later, I'd heard nothing from them so I called and they started from the beginning. Except this time I was able to skip the first 3 traps and pasted pdfs directly into the email as attachements. This time the agent said they'd be contacting the airline's customer support via email, cause clearly they hadn't the first time.
5 days later nothing. I call back in and another useless individual highly specialized in the art of time-wasting went through the account history and told me multiple times that he'd be calling the airline by phone.
Expedia's CS policies and website UI are literally designed to make it impossible for travelers to make any changes or cancel their flights even if they are within their rights to do so.
This will be the last time I purchase tickets through any 3rd party - go directly to the airlines!
Expedia makes reservations for cars that don't exist. We made an online reservation for a car for a week, we're sent an email confirmation, only to be told there were no available cars when we went to the rental agency. Lost 45 in cab fare. Got back home, made a reservation with an agent, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. Expedia took no responsibility just kept repeating "The order confirmation showed it was successful. " The woman we spoke to at the car rental agency said Expedia doesn't have any idea what their real time inventory is and does this frequently for car rentals, airplane and hotel reservations. This company is a disgrace.
My wife and I decided to book our flight to Italy through Expedia much to my trepidation, what a big mistake! Flight got cancelled about a month before we leave on the trip and airline changed it to a flight the next day. This throws all our plans in disarray. I reached out to Expedia customer service to see if they could fix the issue. I tried contacting the airline TAP Portugal myself and they will not deal with me because the flights were booked with Expedia. After contacting customer service THREE times and being told the request was sent to TAP and nothing gets resolved. THIS IS THE LAST TIME I BOOK ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY!
I chatted with a customer service agent thru chat for almost an hour until he kept telling me the same thing that he was going to get a supervisor. After an hour I finally left the chat and he called me on the phone and kept making promises of talking to supervisor and even put me on hold telling me a supervisor would be with me in two or three minutes then about 10 minutes later he comes back on and tells me a supervisor isn't available. By this time it has been 90 minutes trying to get my car rental cancelled and refunded and I get frustrated and he warns me if I get unprofessional he will end the call simply because I asked if Expedia is a United States company because the rep was very hard to understand. Horrible Customer Service
I booked a stay in the Italian alps through Expedia. The hotel does not allow cancellations and I bought insurance. Expedia double booked the reservation (same days and everything). They refuse to refund me for one of the reservations and the hotel will not refund. I submitted to my credit card as a dispute but I will no longer use Expedia for my trips and I've been a customer of theirs for years.
We booked flights, car rental and hotel for a trip to England using Expedia. Expedia sent conformation that everything was booked and paid for but we found out the day before the flight during the online check in process, that the flights were not paid for. The car rental and hotel were, but not the flights. If you use Expedia, I'd recommend double checking everything they do as there is a possibility they may not take care of everything even if they say they have. My recommendation would be to use another travel site or book directly with the airlines
I have used Expedia for well over a decade and have always been very satisfied with their service. They have always assisted me with questions, travel glitches and changes. I have found their services reliable, predictable and will continue to use them.
I did not sleep for 2 nights,1st night the couple above us was making loud noises all night. We had to call the front desk. 2nd night the couple had their music on all night. The only reason why we stayed there it was closed to the Trolley and it looked cleaned. If you want a good night sleep, don't stay here. The Girl at the front desk had great customer service.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
