This site is amazing. I have been buying from them for over a year. And everything is described in detail. And sent as described. Pictures are accurate. The only problem I have is when I go to try to resale something. People start looking it up and find what I gave for it and want the same price. I wish they would take the information off after selling it hurts the buyer.
I have purchased many items on this site. I have had everything shipped to me. They certainly don't rush your items to you. In addition, don't purchase anything fragile or breakable. They lack the ability to wrap or protect items. I have received items loosely wrapped in bubble, placed in oversized boxes, and completely destroyed in transit. Good luck complaining, you won't get very far. Finally, the shipping is EXPENSIVE!
Misleading pictures/text on items--assume it is purposeful. No willingness to amend errors when delivery is not as shown or described. Rude phone employees--very difficult to get ahold of supervisors. Just didn't ship item I purchased at a great deal--said was lost; sent crystal items chipped and 20% smaller than described; ridiculous shipping costs on some items but at least you know about it ahead of time. Biggest fault is their unwillingness to right their wrongs--they basically say tough luck.
First time with EBTH and boy did they ever deliver. Easy bidding platform, honest description of items, quick verification of purchase and goods were sent out within two days. Kudos to a great company.
In the last 2 years I have found some amazing treasures on this site. And I mean one of a kind pieces. I've purchased many(200+) US old silver coins, pictures, sculptures, and incredible works of art. I wish they had more local sales (Dallas area). Makes buying the larger items, less of a hassle.
My only complaint with EBTH is, I burn too much time at work, on this site. Oh well, it's good to be the boss some times.
Anyone who reads this, quit bidding me up! :)
I have acquired many items for EBTH. Descriptions are almost always cryptic so you buy on a leap of faith. I have been disappointed may times. Shipping costs are stratospheric with no rhyme or reason. Boxes are almost always falling apart. Packing is extremely messy and generally overkill. Today I am still waiting for an item. Two weeks since the auction ended. They can't seem to locate it. I'm done.
On the plus side - EBTH responded very quickly and was able to take a significant amount of stuff from my mom's house on short notice. We only had one week to find some way to clear out an entire house of furniture and possessions and they helped significantly.
On the down side - most everything else. Sales were below garage sale bargain prices, fees high, and if we had more time to dispose of our stuff, we would have been better served selling some other way or even donating it all. Also, items were lost and never posted for sale. Due to our time crunch and inexperience, we did not properly document everything that was taken, so without that too bad. Our only consolation is that somewhere, someone is still enjoying the things that were part of our mom's life.
I've been buying from 2011. I've gotten great deals. However, you have to read the description carefully and carefully check the photos. They do not have a sense of scale in the photos. I only do local pick-up items or double check shipping costs first... shipping can get out of hand. Interesting and diverse things available.
My advice, stay away. Unless you are ok with "as is", no matter how poorly they represent an item, hiding a MAJOR flaw then refusing to return the item. As ED L. Stated, this defect in manufacturing was not mentioned in the description or properly captured in the photos. Still they refuse to return. Guess what EBTH, I refuse to return too. Know what else, I will spend a lot of time leaving you negative reviews in every forum I have access too. Oh, potential buyers, I had just spent around $2,000.00 with them in probably a two week period, and this issue they refuse to correct is around $160.00 - Nice way to treat your customers. Take a look at Yelp if you think I am an isolated incident.
While their site has the feel of a high end place, descriptions and photos are misleading, shipping costs are severely inflated, and service is horrendous.
I purchased a set of two typewriters with a shipping cost that would have easily paid for putting each in separate, highly padded boxes. They were not shipped for over a month (site says 10 days), and arrived stacked on top of each other in a single cheap box with about 20 cents of brown paper as the only padding, and partially broken as a result.
The customer "service" was non-existent, with only form answers from a snippy and unkind associate, and unwillingness to offer even token apology or restitution for the damage.
In short, buying from them is an overpriced gamble that you will probably lose.
Terrible customer service. Unprofessional company. Shipping is very high. Misrepresent items that are up for sale. Very bad reviews on BBB website. They need to be reported to the Federal Trade Commission.
I won 2 auctions on July 19th. Since then, crickets. It's been 15 business days and my shipping is still "preparing". No communication from the seller. I will file a complaint with FTC and I'll contact my bank.
You never know what will turn up at EBTH, but some unique items frequently make their appearance. The convenience of the in-house shipping at a reasonable price makes everything easy. Other auction houses add on commissions and force the buyer to search for shipping options with outside companies, who charge way too much. I look forward to more unique finds at EBTH.
This company is pathetic. They lie about practically everything. Won numerous items and when each arrived over one month later, all three were not as described with damage. Contacted the evil customer service department and they couldn't have cared less. I understand that there is an attorney in ohio who is in the process of teaching a lesson to this company. I hope he succeeds.
To all these fake positive reviews, do you really think that your fooling anyone? They are laughable in the least!
I bought a a ring from these people. It was very poorly made and had sharp prongs which could scratch skin or pull fabric. It was not at all visible in their photographs. In fact they said it wast visible in the ones I sent which were of much poorer quality.
I basically got two letters which didnt address my problem and basically told me too bad, buyer beware Ill say that for certain. Id bought quite a lot from them which was more or less satisfactory. But their attitude makes me think they are a very fly by night, less than above board business which gives online auctions and vendors a bad name
If I could give them a minus star I would

Have purchased many pocket watches from EBTH. They always seem to find a wide variety of models and for the most part most are working properly. They will state that if an item is not working and you can plan your bid accordingly
I purchased a coffee table for a low price bid and a couple hundred dollar shipping fee. The pictures online and the description of "good" were grossly inaccurate... the table had gouges of wood out, damaged metal and scratches beyond repair. This should of been listed as "poor" condition. It took over two months to receive it and the shipping company was not accommodating. There is no EBTH customer service to talk to... beware of your purchases, I had bid on a picture before and with a few seconds let they extended the bidding time so others could outbid me, BS.
I never write reviews but this is an exception.
The terms listed on the EBTH site, which I read thoroughly, changed when they sent me the invoice. They originally required a credit card which they said that they would charge, including shipping, if I did not pay for the item. I paid. They exceeded even the OUTSIDE shipping date. There was one lie after another for months. They knowingly deceive their customers.
Several months later I decided to give them another try. It was a repeat performance. Lies and rudeness.
Whatever you do, DO NOT give them your credit card number. Nothing is worth the prolific frustration of working with these people.
As a coin collector, I thought that charging $11.00-plus dollars to ship one coin was too much too bear. However, now reviewing their coin selections, I find that EBTH is charging $31.39 to mail a single coin. E-bay sellers charge anywhere from free shipping to $4.00 or so to ship coins.
How can EBTH get away with this? Such outrageous charges are incredulous. No more purchases of coins for me on the EBTH web-site. Staying with E-bay and local sources from this point forward.
When I called and asked asked for the mailing address of the company owners to express my disdain, I was told that they are not permitted to give out that information. What a sham! Even the biggest corporations provide contact information to voice one's grievances. EBTH should be ashamed of themselves! A truly dissatisfied customer.
EBTH is a good source, however, I have made my last bid and win. The shipping prices are ridiculous as compared to other auctions. My last purchase was $41. And shipping 121.40? The items are all from same place, but they do NOT make one shipment. Reasons were so silly, they have them wrapped prior to bidding and can't send together. The next thing is the amount of time to receive, items took from 10 days to 2 1/2 weeks to be received? If they are wrapped & ready to go? Sorry but this company is making a fortune from shipping. Don't mind paying but check other auctions that are just as good with excellent shipping cost & time. After two weeks on an item I won and did so want, contacted them, 2 more weeks and they returned $$. Bad bad bad. NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
