A couple of years ago I'd have probably awarded them 5 stars. But tis all engulfing service has become complacent. The prices for one have sky rocketed to literal stupidity and they seem to find it an impossible task to make fair rules (God there's so many now) for both buyers and sellers. It's not a job a NASA scientist needs to calculate. The feedback scoring is dreadful. For example you can have one complaint as a seller (whether fiction or not) and lose something like 6% of your 100% score from all those hundreds of 'happy' shoppers that did business with you. To retrieve your original score hell you have to work for it! Etc Etc. the list goes on and I don't have the time to list all their accrued faults. SHAME though because the foundation was good and is a good idea, what do they say "if it's not broke, don't fix it". My opinion comes from being both buyer and a seller by the way
Payouts don't add up, at customer service no one can explain why you getting lesser then what you expect. Buyer pays taxes and shipping fees and then they charge sellers too the same. Only person making money here is eBay. Hope they won't last much longer
Ebay's money back guarantee is a total con. I was sent a wrong item which was damaged, returned it to the seller and didn't get a refund. Asked ebay to step in and after many phone calls (probably totalling over 6 hours) they didn't honour their pledge. I for one will never buy anything other than auction items ever again
It used to be great website 14 years ago. ( 1999 to 2004 that was the golden days) I really enjoyed it and we did good business that time. Now the fees are too high customer service have no ideas what they doing, eBay or PayPal will do nothing to take your money,,,,,,,,
EBay does not protect their sellers. Sellers cannot leave negative feedback, they are who takes the blame or hit if anything goes wrong. A new buyer left me negative feedback & eBay said "it looks like it may have been an accident but we can't do anything about if the buyer won't contact you back" I will be looking elsewhere to sell items.
Awful service. Slow. I sent 37 pieces of clothing from their designer list. Many of which were never worn and still had price tags on. My offer was beyond insulting. I am having the entire shipment sent back. Do not waste your time on this website.
Don't do too much shopping or you will be thrown out for "suspicious security activity". Pardon me, but I thought the purpose of ebay was to shop. They don't appear to like one bidding for multiple items.
I'm just not going to bother trying to be u suspended either. I don't see the point in running around photocopying driver's license and bank account to prove who I am. Funds were and are available, this proof of identity was not required prior to joining. The whole ridiculous rigmarole is pointedly absurd.
Anyone else been penalised for actually shopping, or I am just very unlucky?

Twice in the last month Ive had over 100 dollars in fraud purchases on my debit card through ebay. Think you could get their customer service? NOPE. Gotta jump through their stupid hoops. Wait til I call them up when I get home. Someone's day is gonna go south like mine.
I hate having to call customer service as I feel the "customer service" is so canned in what they say and the patently false "I'm sorry" and basically, "I hear what you are saying" baloney makes me furious.
I would say my questions and/or issues are resolved more often than not but the other times, it is just frustrating.
I also buy and sell and am not familiar with the majority of complaints I've read here.
It's been a few years since I've sold things so maybe I will be in for a rude awakening.
In any event, at this point, I prefer E-bay to the other options out there.
Either Ebay has changed owner or management, they are not being very helpful. I bought item from seller that never arrived. I contacted them and Ebay said, it has been more than 3 months, we cant do anything about it ( Normally their stuff takes long time to arrive, so I kept waiting). Second incident, recently bought stuff, seller updated, delivered with someone ( God knows with who) because mailman has key for all mail boxes of building, and deliver in mail box. Upon contacting Ebay, the great Ebay said, We cant give you refund, because seller gave shipping info. If seller gave shipping info, how would it guarantee that item was delivered at my place. I would say, be careful when you buy stuff from Ebay, you will buy at your own risk and do not trust Ebay that much any more.
Garbage people run this site. Horrible, horrible customer service. Problems galore and no one to help, just a condescending attitude of "all of us vs. you". My account was suspended after a half dozen bids on items I've already purchased were "cancelled" even though I had paid AND received them. Then they wanted a copy of my driver's license, which I provided. Still suspended due to suspicious activity. Stick with Amazon.
EBay suspended my account with a MC 011. And would not give me a valid reason. Conveniently after I sold about $2000 worth of merchandise and it was delivered to the buyer and i holding my money through manage there sketchy managed payments. That everyone is talking about and hates. If you look on YouTube, and google, this complaint is taking on the life of its own, and I think they will eventually be a class action suit for this. According to the customer service and I've gotten various responses. They refuse to release my 60-72 days. We are at the 60 day point now and there is no site of them releasing my funds. I get a different answer every time I call. I'm going to post videos on YouTube and use various social media platforms to spread awareness about this. It's so unfair. I encourage anyone to utilize the better resources out there like Amazon, Walmart, bonanza, and Facebook marketplace. Way better selling
Ebay allowed someone to leave bad feedback for something not sold on ebay then tells me because i never noticed it in 90 days could not do anything about it,but admitted how would i notice something that never should have happened. Run by cowboys and half wits use market place
I called eBay to appeal an unfair bad feedback. She and other reps laughed at me! She was slurring her words saying "there's nothing we can do"... laughing... not to mention her giggling preppy fake voice! At first, she said, "Hi how are you?" I said "could be better". She laughed, "aw that's not what I like to hear." Terrible service! Called again, different girl (sounded new)... she told me "we always side with the buyers"! Finally a rep admitted it! EBay will NEVER help it's sellers! They are all about money! I used to think differently, but this is my first time calling about feedback... and it was an admonition.
Dont bother using ebay if you haven't set up already. After 6 years of using ebay my account has been changed. I am no longer allowed to sell on ebay. I asked why and their reply was The concerns over your 'previous sale' are not the only reason of this restriction. ' Disgusting. They wont give me a reason
Ebay has competitive prices, and you can get all sorts of great deals. There's many listings for a lot of high quality products selling from reputable companies, not just old stuff sold by a random individual. If you're transaction goes wrong (like you never received item or you got a damaged one), then Ebay makes the refund/return process easy. Overall, it's a safe option to purchase all sorts of items!
Ebay likes to remove negative feedback, so their questionable sellers can keep selling. Now they do it with neutral reviews too. What's the point in leaving feedback, which are buyers' honest accounts of their experiences, only to have them removed? And to make it nearly impossible to contact a live person -- trick, enter a chat and type, "have an agent call me," type your contact number, and you'll be connected -- is not good customer service at all. And they get to keep nearly 13% of sellers' $$ for doing what exactly? AVOID!
Be careful with eBay, most of the product are damaged or used otherwise you can get that stuff cheaper in other sites, also my credit card is hacked, eBay or seller are not responsible for your personal details...
EBay has the worst customer service who don't answer your questions and don't speak properly. They are arrogant and sound robotic. Please stay away from eBay. I sold some merchandise and they nickel and dime me. Taking out all kinds of fees. It takes forever to get your money! EBay use to be good for selling but not anymore. You walk away with very little for a lot of work. The experience is no longer fun. I am done and will tell everyone how petty they got.
There are some items on Ebay that have better prices or selections than Amazon. One example, I recently purchased new Taylor Made irons on Ebay and saved about $100. I've never had a bad transaction on the platform, but don't do that many deals there. Compared to Amazon, it's about 100:1 in favor of Amazon.
One complaint, the interface between buyer and seller is clunky and takes too long to get an answer; plus you have to go through several questions within their interface before they'll let you send an email. Perhaps its greatest utility is to value used stuff.
Overall, I recommend EBAY for select items.
Answer: I would never buy a used car without seeing it in person and having it checked out.
Answer: Ebay is a den of thieves. Even Ebay is evasive on complaints to answers. When looking for items, be sure to be fully informed to what you are shopping and use all that knowledge to cypher the listing, even then have found those that list items to be evasive on answers. Avoid ebay if possible!
Answer: For their own purposes and to protect dishonest sellers. I was once an avid EBay shopper, but now avoid EBay. Buyer protection no longer exists. You buy at your own risk.
Answer: Ebay sells nothing. You are dealing with private sellers. Some are good, some are not. The best way to determine this is to check the feedback. I personally never buy from anyone who has a feedback lower than 90%. 96% is considered bad, by Ebay. Take that with a grain of salt. Ebay management is nuts.
Answer: If you haven't already learned the hard way that Ebay is just pure bullshit when it comes to the sellers rights. When someone wants to send it back for any reason other than it doesn't work as described, you will be footing the bill. Not only will you lose the money you paid to ship it to them, Ebay will offer to provide a return label for them at your expense. Yep, that's right. They will bill you the price of the label if you don't provide it. Either way, you are paying for it to get back to you. It's get better. You can't leave negative feedback for the buyer either. It's not an option NO MATTER
Answer: Not to me! It's my main shopping tool! I look for good deals and free shipping!
Answer: Yes. You are right. All what people told you are correct. Don't trust ebay and the seller on ebay. Amazon much better than them. But anyway the best way to buy electronics from the local stores or official stores.
Answer: This depends on the seller of the item - carefully check their feedback and trust you intuition if you have doubts try another seller you feel safer with...
Answer: Hi Tom, As for reviews, you don't get them. It's called feedback. When you buy an item, the seller will probably leave feedback after you leave feedback for them. I hope that answers your question. Nancy
Answer: Depends on the seller. I wouldn't buy anything off ebay because there a crappy company.
eBay has a rating of 1.7 stars from 3,486 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with eBay most frequently mention customer service, negative feedback and credit card. eBay ranks 179th among Auction sites.
