Far from a dollar store, everything overpriced! $5.75for a case of water. Much better deals at local supermarkets and Walmart
Today at the Dollar General in Laffey at Louisiana the employees would not allow me a refund. After I purchase my items I noticed that I was overcharged then I wanted a refund and she told me she was not refunding me. I asked to speak to a supervisor, once she called the supervisor over the phone the supervisor told her to call the police the Lafayette police department. Once the Lafayette police department arrived amazingly the Lafayette Police Department said that they would not be giving me a refund and I had to leave the store outrageously I left with no refund nor any items!
The Dollar General on Chicago Ave (In East Chicago, IN) Use to be a wonderful store to shop in. For years? You can find just about anything you wanted; And more!. The store was well organized. (Now?) The shelves are practically empty. (Why?) Because there is nobody to stock the overcrowded inventory; That still sits in boxes and containers on the floor. (So many?) That you can't maneuver the Shopping Cart down the aisle. You have to leave your Cart somewhere and go get what you need; Then take it back to the Cart. Furthermore? Why is there only 1 Cashier, on a regular basis? Saturdays can get very crowded. If you are the MANAGER of this location? "Shame on You" For not hiring enough employees, to handle the enormous work load. Offer potential employees better pay rates and benefits. People will knock the doors down, looking for work.
The Associates Bobby, Patrick, and Joy are great people to talk to and are helpful if needed. And Tammi is a great Manager.
Omg the wurst experience in my life the store that I go to make sure u cannot see what you are charged as the ring you up. I was charged twice went back in after dealing with them for 10 minutes and left to. Stand for another 10 minutes. Then instead of refunding my $ which the receipt shold becuase I ran my card twice. It was simple mistake but the problem was A lazy manager who at the end did not do her job and I did get my $ back. I was charged twice the want to make it A nightmare so the don't have to mess with you. That's fine steal off me good for I will never give them any business the are not for the working ma n.
This store has to be the biggest joke god ever created. Dirty disorganized. Upper mangement just blame the employees while they sit onthere lazy asses, and then tell everone how hard they work.
Visited my local DG sore yesterday. Of course aisles were full of merchandise waiting to be put up. Reached down to pick up sheets to purchase and the edge of the sharp shelf rippedy arm open in 2 places. I am sure I am in need of stitches due to it's been a full 24 hours and I am still bleeding profusely. So standing in your store with blood dripping from these huge cuts and crying, I was offered a paper towel and packing tape and told to wrap it up. I proceeded to pay for what I put hased and the mgr came up. She was at first, rude, then asked I show her where this happened. Remember. I am dripping blood. I showed her. She took my name and number in case anyone wanted to contact me. I asked for bandaid, ya know since u sell a whole aisle of them but was refused so I purchased the huge bandaids (antibacterial) and took care of myself. Is this how u treat your customers. And of course by 4pm today I was not contacted. I called headquarters, greeted by an employee who cud not speak English. She said the DM would contact me. She was gonna give me a number to call their at risk dept. I am in bed from surgery and told her had no way to write down and she offered to connect me. After holding for 30 min. I just hung up. I don't know how u handle things but. This is extremely serious. So I am and will seek legal help after I visit er. Thanks for nothing
Self check out should not be the only option. If your unable to multitask then go somewhere else. Heath ohios location had two employees why was there no register open. Some people don't like self check out, I'm one of those people. It takes away from jobs and creates lazy employees.
The redheaded cashier at DG in Ayden, NC is not nice. She was bossy and had nothing nice to say. Not a fan.
Many times the computer at checkout overcharges on items. Cashier fixes this when told price on sign
Everyone who works there seems to be friend of manager. Manager daughter putting up freight even tho she is not employee shelves are empty cashier holding customers baby while on register aisles blocked with u boats when asked to move replied district manager said to put them there, two or more employees outside smoking most of the time i come in only one register open despite long lines. I could go on and on!
I'm a 77 year old woman who has shopped at many Dollar stores, most employees have friendly and helpful. I was at a Dollar General store in Carterville, Illinois and for the first time treated rudely. I have a great grandson that has trouble communicating and his social worker is working with words. Wednesday I had been looking for a toy to help with that. I found a toy, only one, that had been demonstrated too much. I went to the counter and ask a young man if they could replace the batteries or mark the item down, before he could say anything a black woman employee said it probably doesn't work on batteries, I showed her on the box that it did, then a young blond girl came over and said she was the manager, I had never seen her there before. There were several other customers in the store, she again said there was nothing she could do, I then started to open the package and then old her I would buy it when I put new batteries in. She told me to get out of HER store and never come back or she was going to call police, I almost said please do because I'm known and respected in the community. I decided it would be better to just leave, I had other things I intended to buy. I went to my car and wrote a review about the experience, while I was sitting in my car this young person came out and started attacking me again! I finally drove off but feel I was definitely abused by her. I'm very sincere. I don't wish for anyone to loose their job but she definitely needs more training in customer service. I have been in management for several years and know you never speak to a customer like she and the other woman did. Thank you for your time.
I used to love dollar general. But now and days you can't walk down half the aisle do to carts of stock being on the floor, no matter what day of the week it is. I understand needing to make a profit by keeping cost low. But every store I go into is like this. It is a safety hazard to customers and employees as they risk having product fall on them, and it's also a fire hazard as the other day you couldn't get down 5 aisles even without a cart. Dollar general should not be allowed to continue to operate with such poor working and shopping conditions!
Working here is terrible they don't care about you they get pissed if you don't answer them on your DAY OFF. They overwork you and do not care about you they will fake that they do just so you'll stay and work your butt off. They talk about former employees badly. You don't get paid enough for everything you go through. They leave you to run a store alone for 8 hours straight and come in really late to work not caring about you having a life. Creepy coworkers and customers. This job gets you no where in life and I don't recommend working there. I quit with no notice and I don't regret it at all they deserve it.
Frequent customer only problem closing is stated as 10p.m. Arrived at 9:35 and doors were locked. Not the first time.
Stopped at Family Dollar Mauston Wi. On 4/3/22@1:30. At checkout noticed the safety seal on 2 of 3 cookies was missing. Crabby clerk said" oh theyre ok" and put them in my bag anyway. I went to the counter and got 2 sealed containers and replaced the containers. She very rudely said " I'm gonna put them back on the shelf anyway" and went and did just that. Kinda scary huh? Don't expect factory sealed food at this location. This episode completely ended my shopping at this store. No excuse for selling items with the factory seal missing. Especially food.
First. Employees are treated like tools that are disposable. Second. The stores are DISGUSTING AND CLUTTERED. No fault to the employees working the store. All fault to corporate for being the inconsiderate company that they put on a persona to try to make it seem like they aren't. I'm tired of people being fired for needing a day off. I'm tired of subpar wage and dollar general thinking it's okay.

Our store isn't stocking shelves with things that are need. They are in boxes in back room. Help is not stocking like they should! Over all other Dollar General Stores are doing a good job!
I've been in four times in almost 2 weeks at the Mason, Michigan store for the 32 pack of Clover Valley bottled water. The shelves have been completely empty in the water section. I inquired at the first visit if they will be getting water in the shipment?. Which I was told by the cashier that they have the 32 packs, they are in the back and unfortunately behind the rest of the truck shipment and they are unable to get to them. 2nd visit, still empty shelves, was given the same excuse. 3rd visit, shelves still empty... 4th visit 2weeks later (today, march 24th) still empty shelves, asked the manager this time if the 32 packs of water were still in the back. She said that "Yes, they are buried back there from the way the truck was delivered". 2 weeks and counting to get this out on the floor? Are they even pushing product out at all? This is not good managing in my opinion. This needs to be resolved!
I really like General Dollar's idea of having their stores convenient, but the idea of not having enough personal in their stores to keep them stocked is going to be the down fall of many of the most convenient ones. Palm plaza in Foley is a good example. If they would even hire a crews just to travel store to restock would help. Security in some areas just need more employees to be visible. We are in a heavily traveled area because of the beach. Many stores are on the main highway. Theft I'm sure is a problem and the safety of employees is my concern. Being in management for years in the largest retailers in it's early years. That was one of the ideas that pushed it over the top. It was convenance, stock, and had good employees without good service and stock being small convenance doesn't count. Respect employees by not putting them in impossible positions for one or two people to fulfill.
Answer: Most of it comes down to the iron fisted payroll. Like 40 asm hours for 2 full time employees. How do you give your asm 20 hours and call that ft!
Answer: It may be because your location is running out of business or stock on the water, and I still haven't found out on the coupons myself
Answer: Download the DG app. Sign up with your phone number and add coupons to your account. When you check out in store there is a dg coupon button on the pinpad screen. Click the button and put your phone number in.
