Won an auction for some Gamboy games. Did my payment of 150€. After a week i get a notice that my paymeny is still pending. If not paid, i would recieve a fine + Some other threatening BS. I forwarded my payment note as proof, didn't exept. Called in a lawyer from my side to check upon this we replied with some return threatening from our side about fraud. After 2 weeks seller "cancelled" the order, i never got the games neither my money back. And the communication stopped after we threatened from our side. Note that i had bought stuff before on catawiki already but now it's just bad.
The worst experience I've ever had with these guys.
Long story short, the Support team is unresponsive, the fees they apply are huge, the bids are fake most of the time and only serve their interest, trying to squeeze out the most of your money. Don't put your trust and money in their hands, you'll be disappointed!
As I have already mentioned, in November 2024 I bought an item that was supposed to arrive in December. The item never arrived and Catawiki, instead of taking responsibility and holding the seller accountable, says it is not their problem. After many emails and messages to Catawiki and the Italian seller, I have had enough of not receiving any help from them. Today I received a message from the SEUR company saying that the item has been returned to the seller BRT Bartolini, who shows no signs of life and apparently has kept the money and the item. I have been very DISAPPOINTED with Catawiki. IT IS NOT RELIABLE. BE VERY CAREFUL.
I bought a number of lots of vintage wine on Catawiki. Sometimes it went smoothly, but there are sellers who will not send you the lot you won if they're not happy with the price. Instead of severely penalising such dishonest behaviour, Catawiki just offers you a refund. One seller openly told me he doesn't care about being banned because he brings Catawiki profit and they make money off him. He had 4-5 negative reviews from buyers who never got the lots they won at auctions, but he just keeps selling like nothing happened. A dismal and short-sighted business model, not recommended.
I used to buy 2-5 things evey year. And this time I did buy. Nice bottle of springbank but oh boy then shipement should have arrived and it didn't crap started to show. I contacted seller first but only information from him was sending tracking number and claiming its already at pick up point. After calling dpd multiple times I opened a claim through catawiki. And look what happens its my problem I could not pick up order (even though I could not because there was no notification or possibility to pick it up) and they will pay my money to seller regardless if he delivers it to me. Wow thats top notch customer care
I am so disappointed. The problem is that the delivery does not correspond with my address delivery, and it is not the first time when such an incident has happened here!
I have an order that online is marked as delivered, and the updates are showing that they still need to deliver it to my address.
Anyway, be aware of the sellers that have bad reviews and also the time that it is saying the delivery is done and the 3 days when you can submit a claim on Catawiki!
Check and let them know, otherwise, they will say cannot help you and it is between you and the seller! My experience buying here online ended, I am going to buy from another trusted auction site! Hope is helpful and be aware! Regards
Catawiki is all fake. Expertise does not exist as Catawiki claims on its website, nor do guarantees. Catawiki suggests sales amounts, but these are also fake, as you are always outbid. When you finally stop bidding higher, it turns out your previous bid is the highest after all. Their policy states that you MUST BUY at the highest bid, which is yours.
They sell junk that sellers can't get rid of. These products are also offered on second-hand sites, which is why it takes a while for you to receive them from Catawiki. They need to have your money first to then buy it from second-hand sites. And so on and so forth...

If I could give zero stars I would. This company is very corrupt and allows counterfeits to be sold. Beware! Stay away. I bought a Balenciaga wallet that is not genuine. It is an obvious fake. I contacted Catawiki and they say they are investigating and that is a bunch of lies. I have posted pix showing the bad stitching. Balenciaga never stamps "genuine leather" on any of their pieces. Came in a box marked Made in PRC. People's Republic of China. I took a photo of a genuine Balenciaga wallet I own (left) next to the fake one (right) and if you look closely at the grain, you can tell it is fake. This is not leather, more like pleather. I will never do business with this company again.
This title "Buyer Protection" is only for making money.
Catawiki only protect company that they work it.
For customer nothing, not even a answer to emails.
Pay atention if you want to buy from this platorm.
WORD OF WARNING FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO SELL ON CATAWIKI: I decided to sell Apollo 11 Nasa photographs and at the beginning it went ok but after a while I noticed Catawiki were not letting some countries see my entries but were sending another person's across all countries, because they sell far more items on Catawiki than the average seller so they pay Catawiki far more commission. Catawiki staff are obviously behaving in a corrupt manner. I have attached photographs to back up my point regarding their favouritism towards big sellers. If you look at the pictures its blatantly obvious how corrupt catawiki is and how they are breaking fair competition laws as laid out by the EU. They have made it a nightmare for the average seller, and this should be taken up by a legal official as the photos I sell are identical to the other sellers, but it is clear from the pictures attached that there is corruption. All of the high figures are for the other seller and their 'x' is inside the bracket. Catawiki have no problem with me buying from them but they block most of what I try to sell. Their experts, when questioned, know little about their specialist areas. They should hang their heads in shame. I have so much proof there can be little or no argument regarding corruption
They invited me to become professional seller in Jan 2023 and promised me a seller fees of 6%. However without any notification (no email, no message), they increased my fees back to 12.5% plus VAT. I priced my item according to 6.5% so deducted 13.5% (plus tax) away from my final sale I'm actually losing money, I almost shipped the item without noticing. I can believe such a big company they SCAM sellers like that! I won't ship my item until they change my rate back. I'm done with Catawiki
Here are the unique objects that many unsuspecting unconscious are happy to experience a moment of glory. Experts who have learned to find business and close the market to others in short, a platform not open to everyone or at least so they say but when you propose similar objects then the guidelines and the expert's judgment change the reason and in the photo this is just a taste where find special items.
Catawiki is no longer addressing customer issues including urgent ones. Beware!
Weeks and weeks after sending an email to Catawiki support - no reply, nothing. Only an automated message received on the same day about Catawiki's promise to reply within 2 business days.
Catawiki is a scam in the sense that they have no support - if something goes wrong in the transaction between you and the seller, expect nothing from Catawiki - they do not respond to your inquiries, your money is lost! Catawiki puts you in touch with interesting purchases at cheap prices - which is good - unfortunately the company Catawiki is without support when you need this, so it is therefore very risky to shop through Catawiki
Stupidly I have bought 5 watches from here 3 arrived broken or not functioning though described as complete, functioning, even serviced? 1 one was counterfeit and 1 was wayyyy overpriced I found out later. So yeah I learned the hard stupid way to avoid this terrible sit like the plague. The items are clearly not selected at all, let alone by experts it's no better than eBay, they take any piece of garbage and the sellers simply can get away with refusing to accept a return with a full refund, all catawiki offered me was $50 for my troubles... for a $300 piece of junk.
After more than 4 years & 2,500 sales catawiki has blocked my account as I questioned an auctioneer and point out he was listing fakes watches.
This is an amateur company with little or no support for sellers with antiquated & inflexible systems.
Sellers & buyers are nothing more than cash cows for this company, they charge 15% on sales to the seller, 9% to the buyer - ridiculously high for such poor service.
They will do whatever they can not to refund these fees leaving buyers & sellers to resolve issues themselves.
I've wasted a long time trying to make it work on here. This company is a joke. You would be well advised to use more recognisable auction sites.
I finally did get a refund for the damaged fossil but it was an onerous process - emails back and forth with them, back and forth with the seller, waiting, etc. Sucked up my time for an issue that should not have been that big of a deal, since I provided photos of the damage to everyone, as well as the postal receipt for the return. They might want to instruct sellers to CAREFULLY package fragile materials - some do, some don't. I think they are still having growing pains. A negative aspect is, it's not like an actual auction where you can preview the merchandise - so, you're dependent on photographs to make a bid decision or not.
Paid $194+ US for a fossil crab. In the picture, the crab has both claws. The specimen I received had one claw broken off, completely. When I received the package, it looked as if a 5 year old packed it and the broken off claw was nowhere in the package. This tells me that the seller KNEW he was not sending what he had portrayed in the picture, because it was NOT broken in transit.
Buy at your own risk - would not use again.
Parcel did not come because seller set incorrect phone number. Parcel go back to seller and no refund was provided. -395 euro. I opened claim with bank and open police claim for scamming... will wait for them to punish
BTW - my reviews on their website they delete. All other review websites - only negative reviews.
On trustpilot they post fakes positive reviews - you can see by history when they start to... very nice company :)
A painting I purchased from am artist in France was damaged in transit and the artist promised to replace it. 6 months on and I'm still waiting. Catawiki don't want to know and have said it's up to ke to contact the artist directly...which I have done several times to no avail.
I've deleted my Catawiki account and will now buy from reputable artists via reputable galleries
Answer: It's a very poorly run 'legit' company. No chain of command, lots of departments working against each other
Answer: There is customer support but you'll have to be patient. It can take weeks for them to get back to you. Buyers are protected, you just need to push and keep pushing. Sellers are required to send everything with tracking and insurance, so you should be OK.
Answer: Promise of something different. Sadly different is very. Very bad!
